"acrobat cannot start adobe livecycle designer"

Does anyone have a solution for this? I'm running XP SP1. I've tried a couple of suggestions from these forums, like creating a new form to get into Designer, but every time Designer is supposed to start up, this is the message I get. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Could it simply be a machine problem?

Which version of Acrobat (to the sub version)? The latest AA8 is AA8.1.6. AA9 is at AA9.1.3 I think. If you have not updated, you might try an update. Other than that, I have no clue.

help please? after a few hrs on chat with a tech, adobe refuses to support a product we purchased!

    I wrote too soon.
So the form seems to be done and functional.  I just had to click cancel before going to Livecycle.  Then I save it and work on it in Acrobat.  I don't know why Livecycle isn't installed correctly, or honestly, what Livecycle does that Acrobat doesn't.
    Anyway, problem resolved.

  • Acrobat cannot start Adobe LifeCycle Designer! Help!

    Can someone help please?
I downloaded a trial version of acrobat 9 pro LCD last week, it opened then, but not anymore. This is the message i get everytime i try to open it, "Acrobat cannot start Adobe LifeCycle Designer. You may need to repair or reinstall the application using the original installation program."
MS SQL server 2009 was installed on my desktop this week, and from another discussion i read that this server and LCD dont get along with each other, and since LCD worked last week for me I am assuming installation of SQL server could be a possible reason why LCD wouldnt open now.
My task is to create a dynamic form that should generate a report from just typing in one field, (for example, entering the name of an account holder should populate the remaining fields of the account holder's data as result.)
has anyone done this so they can help troubleshoot??

Acrobat XI is not distributed with Designer. Designer is now a separate product. You can create forms in Acrobat as an AcroForm or using Forms Central (an online forms program). You can print the form to a new PDF and then recreate the fields in Acrobat using the recognize form fields. You will likely have to fix the form fields, but that would be the process. Generally, once a form is taken to Designer, you can't bring it back without such steps.
Designer is available with AA8 - AAX, but since is a separate product as I indicated.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

I recently purchased Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, it came with Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES.  When I create a new document with Acrobat 9, it takes me right into LiveCycle for the design, which I do not mind.  However, the properties for each field are very limited in comparaison with Acrobat 9.  So, the file I create with LiveCycle I want to be able to open again with Acrobat 9 and reach the field properties with Acrobat 9, but the system does not allow me to do that.  What am I doing wrong?

To force uppercase, enter the following in the change event as JavaScript (make sure JavaScipt is selected in the language dropdown list at the top right):
    xfa.event.change = xfa.event.change.toUpperCase();
As you can see in the picture, there are many palettes available on the right side to edit fields. Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.0 launches Acrobat 8.1.1 instead

    I use
    Vista OS. When
Adobe Livecycle Designer 8.0 is launched, the splash screen is displayed and then the main window pops up only for a split second before launching
    Adobe Acrobat 8.1.1 Professional instead.
    I've tried
Repairing Acrobat Installation under the Help menu in Adobe Acrobat, but it hasn't helped the situation.
I had this same problem on my old computer running XP with Acrobat 7.0 Professional & Livecycle 7.0 and the problem was fixed by repairing something in the registry. The tech described that it had some conflict with some trial software but I do not know if that is the case in this instance nor do I remember the specific keys that were searched & deleted.
How do I remedy this situation?

I had the same issue. I have a brand new computer running Vista and the only software that I have installed is what came from the manufacturer and Acrobat 8 Pro. I downloaded the trial version of Livecycle ES over the weekend and think that may have been the problem. My system was running a bit odd with some forms I was working on Wed. Problem happened yesterday, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling that didn't work, tried different set up points. I finally caved and reverted the computer back to factory settings by the backup and reinstalled everything and am back to running normal.

  • Upgrade to Adobe Acrobat XI Professional and free upgrade to Adobe LiveCycle Designer

Upgrade to Adobe Acrobat XI Professional from Acrobat X Professional  does qualify for a free upgrade to Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 or to  ES3 only?

  • Creating PDF's - Cannot get Arial to work - only getting MyriadPro (Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 + Adobe Output ES Server on Linux (SUSE10))

    Hi
I am using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.2 + Adobe Output ES Server on Linux (SUSE10) to create PDF's from input XML.
I have had some trouble getting Arial fonts which are used in my LiveCycle Designer created XDP's to be produced in the resulting PDF using the java API or the Process Flow (watched folder) in Output ES.  I have put Arial TTF fonts into both the Server Fonts and Customer Fonts folders and the Arial font still seems to be coming out as MyriadPro in the final PDF.
Is there something I am doing wrong ?
    Regards
    Robert.

    Hello Jackson,
We got this working by adding the below fonts to the server-fonts directory on the jvm which you specify in the LCM when you configure the livecycle and bounced the jvm and thing to note down here is that we added our Windows system fonts which are "ttf" files and our jvm is on linux. You can give a shot and see if this works at your end also.
    Fonts added:
    ARIALN.TTF
    ARIALNI.TTF
    ARIALNB.TTF
    ARIALNBI.TTF
    ariali.ttf
    arialbi.ttf
    arialbd.ttf
    arial.ttf
    Thanks-
    Karthik.

  • Download Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0

I got below error message while click on Edit in Adobe Pro XI. After some research I found that the form was created using "Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0" application ( File-->Properties ). Now I started to download LiveCycle to modify this form but I could not able to download the same. Can you pls provide the link to download the same.
This form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe LiveCycle Designer to edit this form.

If you purchased a prior license of Acrobat and have purchased an upgrade to Acrobat XI Pro then you are eligible for free LiveCycle Designer upgrade.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES closes every time I open it :(

Hello all, I want to thank you beforehand for the help regarding this matter. I use Windows Vista and my Adobe LiveCycle Designer was working before but for the last week and a half or so I have not been able to get it to work! I have done scandisk/defrag/and have multiple software to keep my computer clean so I have taken those precautions beforehand. To the problem...:
My Adobe LiveCycle Designer opens up and it was working previously as mentioned, but when I try to open it by either opening or converting a form or creating a new form with a template, I am not able to as it gives me an error message and closes! It gives me an error message of "Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES has stopped working" and a screenshot of this is provided at the following link:
    http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/bc59d422150595157c212a5b181313244g.jpg
I don't know what to do and wanted to see if I could solve this problem before I was forced to try to manually reinstall it so hopefully I don't have to go through that. I appreciate the help once again!

I am dealing with the same problem. I called Adobe technical support and spent hours to fix the problem but none worked. I tried to explain them the error might be caused by the Activation process but they just made me uninstall and install application several times.
When I start LiveCycle it gives the following error: adobe livecycle designer es has stopped working.
I start debugger to see what's going on and get the following exception: Unhandled exception at 0x773db663 in FormDesigner.exe: 0xC015000F: The activation context being deactivated is not the most recently activated one.
Does anyone know how to deactivate this product manually? Because deactivate menu is dimmed and I cannot deactivate product from the program. I believe if I can just remove activation info and activate it again this problem might disappear.
    Thanks

    Actions
Updated Windows RT 8 to 8.1
Uninstaled Adobe Reader Touch 1.3 and instaled 2.0 Build 84770
    Additional Information
The form was created 10 or 11 months ago, and we are pretty sure that we were able to open it a while back
The same PDF file opens just fine in Windows 8.1 using Adober Reader XI 11,0.06, it is only the app that is affected.
The document cannot be opened by any other mobile app that we have tried or on another mobile OS (iOS)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks & Regards
    Jim

The user's assertion is surprising to me, but perhaps I'm missing something important. I thought the correct position was from the conclusion of my earlier post "it can't be done". Adobe state their Reader Touch doesn't support XFA (http://blogs.adobe.com/readermobile/2012/12/13/adobe-reader-for-windows-8-tablets/). Unless (see that blog entry) you changed the type of form.

  • Adobe LiveCycle Designer and Office 2010

    Hi guys,
I'm using Adobe LiveCycle Designer (version 9 / ES2). I try to open a MS Word file, but I receive an error message.
Word (version XP or higher) cannot be found on the machine.
    OS: Windows 7 Enterprise
    Office: 2010
I read that the version 8.2 of LiveCycle Designer doesn't work with Office 2007 and higher. In this constellation the same error message appears. Is it the same problem on my side? How can I solve it?
    Many Thanks,
    untalentiert

I'm running Win XP using Parallels 8... LiveCycle Designer is WIndows only and Acrobat XI will only import hyperlinks correctly from Windows versions of Office - which is why I use Office on both the Mac and Windows side, as well as Acrobat XI on both platforms. You can't use the Office plug-ins for Office using LibreOffice (or even Office 2011 for Mac) hence the need to open docs in Word on the Windows side instead of the Mac side.
What I'm confused by is the pricing difference between the packages - I guessing that the $163 package is the 'full retail' and not an OEM or anything - but I don't know if an OEM would even work under a VM with Parallels...
So I may end up with the full retail version, although I'd like to save the $70 difference if I can!
    Thanks,
    Clinton

  • Fillable Forms Created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0

I created a fillable form using Adobe LiveCycle Designer 7.0. Prior to using the form for clients we sent it around to numerous people to make sure it's working properly. We have experienced problems with users that are using older versions of Reader or full versions of Acrobat (5.0 & 6.0). Some problems we have had:
1.) We understand you cannot save the filled out form in older versions, but some users are not even able to print the form (the program shuts down). When the form is opened in an older version it lets the user know that they cannot save the form and it must be printed if they need a copy, but we had one user using version Acrobat version 7.0 that received this message.
2.) Users with full versions of Acrobat 7.0 have been able to fill out the form and save it, but when the form gets back to us it is blank.
3.) Users with Acrobat and Reader 7.0 cannot use the print button, it just does not work.
We were looking to see if there is a way of saving a fillable form down to an older version to see if this can solve our problem. I have not had any luck finding out how to do that. If anyone knows how to do this could you let me know? If not I guess we will go back to the old fashioned way of having the user print the form and fill it out.
    Thank you!

I'm actually having the exact same problem. I imported a form into Designer 7.0 as an Adobe Reader 6.0 "compatible" form. At first, there were several warning messages in various fields but I changed all of these fields so that they would be compatible. The form works in 6.0, however, whenever a user initially opens the form in 6.0 a message pops up promting the user to upgrade to 7.0 for the form to work. Over half of our users are running Adobe Reader 6.0 so any information on how to prevent this dialouge from coming up would be very appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jeff
