Acrobat Catalog in 9 Pro Extended?

I am currently using Acrobat 6.05. I use the Acrobat Catalog application built into Acrobat extensively, creating many large indexes of searchable pdf documents. I am unable to determine whether the Catalog application is available in the newest version of Acrobat. I have purchased CS4 Web Premium, which includes Acrobat but won't install it if it can't create/search current indexes created with Catalog.. Does the current version support Acrobat Catalog?
Thank you...

Yes.

  • Rotated and Shrunk Printing with Win7x64 Ultimate and Acrobat 9.4.4 Pro Extended

I am running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, and Acrobat 9.4.4 Pro Extended and have been experiencing problems getting my pdf files to print properly.  For some reason all PDF's printed rotate from normal oreintation and print on only 1/2 of the page, as if I was attempting to print a bi-fold book (the printed page is always follwed by a blank page).  This occurs with a Xerox 6350DP PS and a Xerox 4500DT PS (both of which are Windows 7 64-bit certified and approved.  Latest drivers are installed).  I've checked settings and can't find anything that makes any difference.  Prints correctly on an old HP Laserjet 1320.
Other programs (MS-Office 2007) have no issue with any of the printers.
    Any help would be appreciated...

  • How to upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro Extended?

Can it be done in one step? It looks like I have to upgrade from Standard to Pro, and then from Pro to Pro Extended. Seems like a pain, but it does look like it costs $300 less than buying a full version of Pro Extended.
If this is what I have to do, do I have to actually download and install Pro, and then download and install Pro Extended on top of that?

Call the Adobe store for pricing: 800-585-0774. It is not available from the web.

  • Acrobat 9.4.4 Pro Extended are there optimum settings for OCR?

PDF's from DWG files, with some graphics on the page, saved as TIFF files...
...and my version of Acrobat Pro 9 (on Win 7, 64 bit) WILL NOT recognize text.
Or at best, only the largest characters on the page are captured. I've tried
re-sizing the TIFF in Photoshop, to a physically larger canvas and/or with
better resolution, but nothing seems to work.
    Suggestions?
I checked for Acrobat Updates and there are none available, that I havent' already
    installed.
This was a feature that used to run without the least hesitation, or slightest hiccup,
    in earlier versions of Acrobat.
    What Gives?

I did go to that window and reset the resolution to 350 (what I use) and it caught SOME of the text.
What I've done in the past is print DWG's to a very large canvas. ANSI C or D size, or 11 x 17 at
    the very minimum.
Then I've even been able perform "copy to table" when right-clicking text, to save to a .txt file with tab
stops between text columns. (Which can be imported to FrameMaker as tables.)
But it doesn't always work, and as I found out yesterday, no amount of extra work in Photoshop
to improve image and text clarity, seems to make much difference when it comes to Acrobat
    handling the OCR function.
It will or it won't, and I don't really have a clue why or why not. It doesn't seem like clarity of
the original file is the source of the problem.
....Oops, Editing this post having remembered...
I might just be working with the wrong Postscript Driver.
A while ago I installed a timed, trial demo of AutoDesk Inventor Publisher. That application
installed a new postscript driver. When I print files to postscript, and then use Distiller to
crank out the PDF, the PS files are identified in the Explorer window as "DWG True View
Postscript Support" files, in the "TYPE" column, between the "Date Modified" and "File
    Size" columns.
I've since un-installed Inventor Publisher -- the Acrobat 3D app is much better -- but the
    printer driver remains.
Our IT guy hasn't known how to get rid of it, or to update Photoshop from CS4 to CS5,
but that's because the upgrade we purchased came in one language only --- Korean, or
Mandarin, or something with asian characters -- which the folks at the ADOBE Support
site weren't able to sort out....

  • Install Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from Acrobat 9 Standard

I attempted to do an upgrade from Acrobat 9 Standard to Pro Extended having purchased the software from a sales rep who said I could do this as did technical support.
My system is XP Pro/SP2 32-bit.
During the install I ran into this problem. http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/401/kb401731.html. Being stupid I continued on
instead of stopping. Once I got to the section that I am asked to input the Pro Extended serial number and then my STandard serial number I ran into further problems. The dropp down menu asked for which current version of Acrobat, which of course for me was 9 Standard.
The problem was the drop down menu has no option for Standar only Professional.
Since the sales rep had told me I could upgrade I hadn't read the label on the Extended Pro box, which says it's only an upgrade for Professional If I had called in at that time I would have resolved that issue, but not the missing DLL.
I then found out I couldn't uninstall the mess so I did another stupid thing and did a system restore, which just compounded the problem. To make a longer story shorter I downloaded MS Windows Cleanup Utility and removed  Acrobat.com and Acrobat 9 STandard. I then downloaded WinCS4Cleanupscript and unzipped and ran it. So far so good.
Then I was advised to install Pro Extended as a trial and customer support would take care of the license issue. Ok, again so far so good.
I then attemped to install Pro Extended as trial and ran into a printer problem similar to what I had
encountered before, but not exactly the same.
"Setup can not copy file PSCRPTFE.NTF" and issues about printers not being Windows logo compliant I believe it was.
(I have a new wireless Brother HL-2170W laser and Canon MP830 inkjet and just updated the driver and firmware...maybe that will load the missing driver)
A this point the installation was terminated and I was advised to follow Adobe TechNote KB403613. The only item that I could possiblity help with this printer problem is the Hotfix kb-930627, but this is for a 64-bit system not 32? Do I download or not?
I also just found out that I still have some vestige of Pro Extended on my system though the MS Cleanup Utility doesn't list anything. Do I run WinCS4Cleanupscript again?
    a) How do I fix the PSCRPTFE.NTF issue with my printer(s)
    b) Do I download a 64-bit hotfix kb-930627to my 32-bit system...and will that solve the printer problem?
    c) Do I just ignore what's left of Pro Extended on my system or run Winc cs4Cleanupscript again. I can't run it directly from all programs, but if I click
on Acrobat 9 Standard under start it opens up or at least that's how it's identified.
    d) Anything else?

I might as well update my own question:
I followed the instructions given in the Adobe TechNote kb403613 after running WINCS4Cleanupscript.
However, I did NOT download the hotfix as that's for a 64-bit system. The phrasing of the hotfix wasn't very
clear to me, but I don't think when it stated XP Home or Professional meant a 32-bit system rather only 64-bit.
If anyone knows better let me know. I checked out that specific hotfix and said was for 64-bit OS.
    1) Created a new user account with Admin rights
    2)  I did the "intermediate troubleshooting" listed in kb403613 and found a few files to delete and I also ran the disk defragmenter.
Might as well catch any problems up front instead of waiting.
    3) There were several directories on the DVD but only copied Acrobat 9 Pro Extended to my desktop in the new user account.
    4) Ran msconfig and disabled all programs under the start up tab. Once you click OK a small window pops up
and you press restart. Remember to write down any programs listed in startup that are not enabled so you
can deselect those when you enable the startup menu again.
    5) On restart and booting up press F8 to get the start up options and select VGA mode.
    7) Once you in Windows log back into the account you created to just install Acrobat
    8) Open Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on your desk top and run the installer
    Desktop>Acrobat 9 Pro Extended>Acrobat9>Acro3D
    9) Run the install. In my case I selected trial version.
    10) I still ran into a problem with Windows Logo compatiblity issues with  my printers.
I could either continue or stop the installation, which I did to attempt to determine just what's
    causing that problem.
    11) there was some auto backout of files, but I still had to run MS Cleanup Utility again and remove Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.
Also ran WINCS4Cleanupscript though nothing there.
    12) I then did a restart and booted into normal Windows mode from VGA mode.
    13) Logged into my account and ran msconfig to enabled my startup menu and then deselected the ones I didn't want.
OK, I am back to square one. I checked the Windows Logo Product List and found my Brother HL-2170W is
XP, VISTA and W7 Windows Logo certified.
I checked my other printer a Canon Pixma MP830...well not so good. It's logo certified under Vista and W7, but not XP.
I had downloaded the lastest driver and firmware, but that didn't seem to help. I did email Canon. Now these printers had
no problems when I was running under Acrobat 9 Standard.
Right now my only option appears to be to just run the install and continue on when I get to the printer issue. Still don't know what
will happen when I get to the serial numbers. I am suppose to call support and they will fix activation. So I am told...

  • Can we open Solidworks 2009 files with Acrobat 9 pro extended

    Hello,
I'm testing Acrobat 9.0.0 Pro extended and I can not open Solidworks 2009 files. But I can open Solidworks 2007 files. I'm on Windows XP 64 bits.
Can you tell me if this feature is corrected in newer version as 9.1 and later?
Or any other solution to be able to open the Solidworks 2009 files directly in Acrobat (without the need to open solidworks to convert the files into pdf 3D)?
    Thanks for your help.

Yes, you can convert 2010 SolidWorks file to STEP or PARASOLID files sometimes
you loose some informations during those conversions then you can read those files into Acrobat then sometimes you
can loose more informations... Why Adobe doesn't update some CAD formats what's append ???
In the first post nobody whan't to answer to my question ... why ???

Adobe 9 Pro Extended New Install (re-install)
Both were un-installed and re-installed in the same afternoon (yesterday).
The Adobe Updater Install Manager seems to be having a signature problem, as described or from what I can gather from the information communicated to me above.
I have been able to install the "Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Extended - 3D update 16.3MB 11/24/2008" but the next download on the list "moving from the bottom of the list to the top or oldest first in order "Adobe Acrobat 9.1.1 Pro Extended update - multiple languages 9943KB 5/12/2009" will not load.. and I have am assuming I should install them in order? so the other 14 updates are as well waiting until I can get this little problem fixxed!
Thank You!! In Advance! For any information on how to fix this problem you may share.
    Be well, JW

The link above will get to you to the current download page
For the 9.0 Pro Extended try Adobe - Acrobat 9 Pro Extended : For Windows
However, it is missing update 9.1 NOT 9.1.1 which is the first one needed to move to the subsequent ones

  • "AdobePDF.dll needed from Acrobat CD-ROM" While Installing 9 Pro Extended on XP?!

    Greetings,
When I try to install Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on a machine running Acrobat 9.2 or higher, it wants the AdobePDF.dll file.  It's looking for it in Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF\I386Vista.  I'm running the install on a 32-bit XP machine.  The install is set to uninstall all other versions of Adobe Acrobat first.  The file is there before the uninstall but doesn't get put back with the install of the new version.  It does not happen if the machine is running anything less than Acrobat 9.2 and it doesn't happen with machines only running Adobe Reader (no matter the version).  Can anyone help me with this?  I have to push via SCCM and I will have hundreds of angry users when the pop-up window displays asking them to point to where the file is located.

    Hi,
I'm not going to be much help, but I'll try.
First, Adobe's first effort at supporting SCCM by providing a SCUP catalog is only in prerelease. There's no public info available at the moment. It sounds like some of you issues are SCCM specific.
However, I did ping high level support and got this response:
If he has a volume license, he should be transferred to a different queue in Customer Support. You might see if that happened when he called customer support.
There's nothing specific to version 9 in the KBs, but it looks like it sometimes happens if someone has installed Acrobat previously with a suite.
There are third-party discussions on this if you google it with SCCM or SMS.
I wish I could be more helpful.

  • AutoCAD Revit Architekture 2010 in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

    Hallo,

  • Is LiveCycle only a part of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro EXTENDED, or does it come with the pro version too?

Sorry, I know this is dated but my company doesnt offer Acrobat X (yet. It is currently pending approval from IT). Anyway, I am wondering if the Livecycle designer program comes with the Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional version or just the Extended which I cannot get? This is very important as I will be using it to create a form (literally just one form lol).
    Thanks

Designer ES is distributed with both Acrobat 9 Pro and Acrobat 9 Pro Extended for Windows.

  • How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which makes a PDF of a web page interactive, to work in Firefox 4.0.1?

I just installed (on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating system/Intel i5 CPU M560 2.67 GHz) and am now using as my default browser Firefox 4.0.1 because Internet Explorer 9 was giving me so much trouble--lack of display of web content, lack of PDF reproduction when web content displayed, screwball formatting display, etc., all of which has been remedied by the mere installation of Firefox 4.0.1.
How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which converts a web page to an interactive PDF, to set up and work on Firefox 4.0.1?

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

  • Pdf form created in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended does not function properly when viewed by Reader

    Hello all-
I have created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and have an issue because when others view the form in Adobe Reader some of the functions do not work- such as the attach a file button I created, or the save, print buttons (all are execute a menu item). These work on my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended but not on Reader.
I have tried saving many different versions- with security (password) and made sure to allow printing and commenting, editing, digital signatures etc...
    Without any security...
Even tried extending features in Adobe Reader!
The response from others is that it all works, except the ATTACH A FILE button- when they click on it it compresses, but, nothing happens!
I don't know what else to do! (I guess people could just attach things to the e-mail that is generated from the submit button, but worried people might forget at that step once they are past that section on the form and they jump to email to submit).
    Help please!
    A.

I've already extended the rights and made sure to save to activate that... as well as password protected the docs etc... still nothing...
I am aware that those with Basic Adobe Reader need rights extended to be able to use functions available to Adobe Pro.

  • Text spacing goes crazy after editing a pdf in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

Recently upgraded to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from 7.  I have old pdf documents that need minor editing.  When I edit text with Text Touchup tool, I get an error that font substitution taking place, usually  TimesNewRoman Postscript to just TimesNewRoman.  Once I save the pdf, text throughout the entire document is spaced randomly, i.e. "Doc    ument is n    o     t     fo   m    atted  correctly".  I do not have the original source documents to re-scan or recreate the PDF.  If I create a new document using 9, I embed my fonts or I get the same problem.  I can't do this with the hundreds of old documents I have.  Is there a fix? I have tried Adobe Tech support via email with no response.
I am using Distiller to print to pdf.
I am using Vista Home Premium (ugh!) but tried it on an XP system with same results.
All my documents are text, and were OCR'd using Abbyy FineReader originally.

Thanks for the input, but I don't have the originals in either hardcopy or OCR'd files.  My workaround is to re-OCR the pdf, make the changes I need and then save to PDF.  This makes a lot more work.  I am really trying to figure out what changed in 9 from 7 that causes this to happen.  I believe it is an issue with the fonts, was just hoping for a fix.
The edits to these documents are minor, like removing some highlighting or taking away a few words of colored text, but they are necessary, just very unhappy that it now can take hours to do something it used to take minutes to do.
