Acrobat causes Nvidia driver to stop and recover
I accidentally started this in the Photoshop forum in an nvidia thread - I was told to move it, so here I am. Apologies.
I am running an EVGA nVidia GeForce 7200GS 512 MB VGA/DVI/TV-out PCI-Express Video Card (model# 512-P2-N430-LR).
Windows 7 (32bit), 2X2.6ghz, 4gb ram, dual monitors.
I'm running Adobe Acrobat 9.0.0 Pro, as a part of Web Premium CS4.
When I run Adobe Acrobat, I see the driver fail and recover - 11 times in the last 30 days. It's often when I'm using Acrobat in a pretty heavy handed manner, like opening 3 large documents at once (but not always that heavy). I updated my driver on June 6th and it still happens.
Event viewer details are:

Description:
Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered.
I'm installing roughly 1GB of updates for CS4 right now, so hopefully the issue will stop.
I realize this is a video card issue, since it is stopping, but I also realize this is a video card stopping only with the help of Acrobat. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash all have had no trouble from what I can recall.
I have posted a similar issue at the nvidia website, but they have a horrible website and I can't even tell if they support the 7200.
Thanks so much for any help in finding a solution.
Joby
9.3.3 apparently fixed it. I haven't had it happen since I updated and the usual reproduction doesn't stop the driver.
Thanks for the help!!!

Graphics driver has stopped and recovered
While playing Max Payne 3, Bf3, Far Cry 3 and War Thunder I encounter crashes (After around 40-60 min) with the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" message. I have been monitoring the temps of my motherboard, gpu and cpu and none are exceeding excessive temperatures. My GPU temps maxes out at 75 c under full load 60 min ingame.
It only seems to crash when playing DX10/1X games. Been palying Arma 2 for hours and hours online and never had any problems. Same with source games.
Now the strange strange part. When I play the games in Windowed mode I never encounter these problems.
Anyone had this fixed?

T510 Nvidia Display stopped and recovered
Hi Everyone,
I'm experiencing some problem with my 4month old T510 laptop. Today, while I was using my laptop, the screen went black for one second and came back on again, with a little notice at the bottom (near the time setting) saying something like the Nvidia display has stopped and recovered.
It has happenend about 3 times since I received the laptop, does anyone have the same problem, im using a windows 7 system, it is a serious problem, or should I not worry about it. I've never had any trouble with my older Thinkpads, but this one seems to cause me problems. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
JOI am having the same issues on my T510, with Nvidia NVS3100 graphic card.
Occasionally the driver will stop respond, and thus recover. There is not a specific way of replicating the problem, it just randomly occurs.
About my installation, its a clean Win7 installation - no preload (hate preloads)
3 days ago I reinstalled my Win7, for troubleshooting purposes with a slow boot to Windows 7. So I have the newest drivers from Lenovo right now, and yesterday it happened again, sadly.
Current driver installed on my system:
8.17.12.5738 (Graphics)
1.0.15.0 (Audio)
I dont think it is a hardware failure, think its a driver issue - so Im hoping a new version will be released that fixes it. Untill then, I am just happy that it doesnt occur often for me. -
Satellite M300 - display driver stopped and recovered keeps popping up
Hi
I am new to this forum took me half hour to find how to post this.
If any one knows a fix please helpHi
As I understood your very short posting: you got an message that the display driver stopped or crashed and recovered again.
Right?
Maybe an new display driver installation would help to sort of this issue.?
I would recommend you to uninstall the previous driver.
Clean the system using CCLeaner (or other 3rd party tool)
Reboot the unit, download and finally install the newest version of display driver released for your notebook model. Reboot the unit.

Movies skip in drive/like stop-and-go motion; transcoded FFmpeg do same!?
Hi folks. I have been ripping some DVDs as of late and I am in the midst of transfering them to Apple TV on my network. However I seem to have run into a problem.
Today I went to rip a DVD and then loaded into iTunes and trans to Apple TV. I was noticing that it was skipping a bit on my TV - not smooth playing in other words.
So I went back to my Macbook and started playing a disk in the Macbook DVD player and notices that when I play the movie stops and goes. Will play a second or two then stop then play then stop, almost like arecord skipping without missing any music. The drive seems to be a little noisier now too - making churning or turning noise as it reads and plays (skips).
What could this be from? This wasnt happening yesterday - I was able to rip a couple that didnt have this problem. Is the superdrive bad now? is it a software issue? Do I need ot reset PRAM?
Come to think of it I also was using FFMpeg to transcode some .avi movies into Apple TV compatible files and they didnt come out very well either, had to trash them. Since this is software based and not drive based, coul dmy issue be some setting or PRAM on Macbook itself rather than the drive?
OK I'm confused now!
Your help would be greatly appreciated!! as always...
JasonSo I dloaded VLC to play the movies before I rip them and I am getting the following errors for 2 different movies:
main: decoder is leaking pictures, resetting the heap
and
main: INPUTCONTROL_SET_POSITION(OFFSET) 11.2% failed
What do you think? Since I am not versed in this very wekk, is this a hardware or software issue? And how to remedy?
Thanks

Nvidia driver crashes X and freezes system
I've installed Arch Linux last night and the nvidia driver I installed crashes X a few seconds after I start it.
At the moment I'm using Nouveau without a problem but I'm not satisfied with the performance so I'd like to use the official nvidia driver. So far I tried the one in the package database (270), the beta one from the AUR (280) and two older ones, (250 & 260). Neither of the latter would install, I'm guessing because of old kernel version?
So basically the problem is that whenever I start X it works for a couple of seconds (less than 10) and then my system freezes to a black screen. When I boot gdm the same thing happens, everything works including input and sound but shortly after seeing the login screen the black screen appears again.
Here's an X error log: http://pastie.org/2248178
So any ideas?Well the new driver changes the way the GPU throttles. Accoding to Nvidia's update notes, it will throttle up or down allot faster based on load. I have also noticed the DPC latency has significantly dropped on those hardware changes as well and along with the repeated interrupts for state change requests. Did you uninstall the previous drivers first?

Nvidia driver with KMS and fbset?
I read several wiki articles and wanted to try KMS with my nvidia driver so I renamed /etc/X11/xorg.conf to something else and rebooted. My terminal seems to be running in a rather low resolution. When I query with fbset, I get:
$ fbset
open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory
Are KMS and nvidia incompatible at this point in time or is there something I'm not setting up properly?jskier wrote:
karol wrote:What do you want, graysky? High resolution - use 'vga=' on the kernel line.
This is not advisable for KMS (which the NVIDIA driver does not support anyway).
Per the wiki, if using KMS and you are having resolution problems, use "fbset" which is found in the extra repo.
I'm using nvidia-173xx and fbset returns "open /dev/fb0: No such file or directory".
Does it work for you? -
GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II OC - Display driver has stopped responding & recovered
I'm having a with a problem with my new MSI GTX 560 Ti twin frozr II/OC. About once a day (sometimes more) my display either crashes and goes dark or the display fills up with small squares and then goes dark. After about 10 seconds the display comes back and I get the error message: "Display driver stopped responding & has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version xxx.xx stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I am not much of a technical troubleshooter but is this a driver issue or a problem with the card itself? Some forums out there are saying that I need to increase the GPU voltage, etc. Being somewhat of a noob, I am looking for the easiest explanation/solution that even someone like me can handle...thanks.OS: MS Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Windows 8 bootup crash, cause NVIDIA Driver.
Hello people, it's me again. I just used bootcamp assistant on OS X 10.9.1 and installed Windows 8.1 Pro. I installed the BootCamp 5 drivers and it said to restart, and I did so, but when it restarted back into windows it shows the windows bootup screen and fades to black, but when it fades to black the screen shuts off and it restarts with the chime, and goes back through the same loop. I tried uninstalling every driver through safe mode until I found out it was the NVIDIA GeForce 9400m driver. I tried downloading the driver from the NVIDIA website, Windows update, BootCamp 5 drivers, BootCamp 4 drivers, the disk that came with my Mac but it ends up the same outcome. Could someone please help me, or if someone has the same problem but fixed it could tell me.
-JPWhile we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use BootCamp. There's a BootCamp Support Community where everybody uses BootCamp. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

Version 5 of firefox causes my drive to grind and the program won't close without force quitting
I reinstalled program but problem still occurs. When I start Firefox my disk drive continues to work very hard and doesn't slow down. When I try to quit Firefox it won't and I have to use force quit
I found out what was wrong. It's an ad-on. SoThink Web Video Downloader Not that it is faulty or not compatible, it just keeps a cache of EVERYTHING you visit that is flash. Not just the flash that you download, but any flash on any site you visit. Mine was huge, I emptied it, and the problem stopped.

How to have a runtime error or failure cause all executions to stop and cleanup
I am using batch parallel mode. It's easy enough to terminate or abort all executions from SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError using IEngine.TerminateAll() and .AbortAll(), but I would like to be able to set an error on all my running executions and cause them to run cleanup when I encounter an error on ANY of the test socket executions.
Anyone have an example of how I might do this?
Thanks,
JakeI did something like this for a failure handler once... and looking through my code I think the biggest headache is to realize that one execution socket has no easy way of seeing the execution references for other sockets. These things are kept by the process model's top level execution... which you also don't have a super easy time accessing without tweaking some logic in your Model file.
(1)Somehow or another you want to get access to the "TestUUTs"/"SinglePass" Fileglobals.TestSocketExecutions[] array and make use of it in your classic RuntimeError callback. The easiest solution (but not the most elegant) would be to edit your model to copy/clone the file global into someplace more convenient... ie "TestUUTs - TestSocketEntrypoint".
(2) in your error callback, handle your error as usual i.e. tell top level sequence to go to cleanup etc. but also loop through the other execution references and do some variation on GetSequenceContext() and setting Runstate.sequenceErrorCode and the rest. The example api calls below are probably overkill...
Locals.currentExeContext=Locals.currentexecution.AsExecution.GetThread(0).GetSequenceContext(0, Nothing)
Locals.currentExeContext.AsSequenceContext.SequenceErrorCode=Locals.RecievedError.Code,
Locals.currentExeContext.AsSequenceContext.SequenceErroroccurred=Locals.RecievedError.Occurred,
Locals.currentExeContext.AsSequenceContext.SequenceErrorMessage=Locals.RecievedError.Msg,
Locals.currentExeContext.AsSequenceContext.ErrorReported =True, Locals.currentExeContext.AsSequenceContext.GotoCleanup =True
I'm using "Locals.RecievedError" as my error buffer in this case because it made sense to me to modifiy the error text to include which socket actually had the error (since now it's propigated to all sockets).
Locals.RecievedError.Msg=Parameters.Step.Result.error.msg+" Occurred on Socket#"+Str(RunState.TestSockets.MyIndex)
or something like that...
Was this what you were looking for? If you're really stumped and can tell me what version of TS you're using, I'll try and extract an example from my old code that you can use, but hopefully this helps.
Cheers,
Elaine R.

Nvidia display driver has stopped responding and has recovered
Hello,
I'm fairly new to the boards. I recently purchased my first laptop, the t510. I have noticed on 2 occasions, about a month apart where the screen flickered and received the nvidia display driver message above. On the first occasion, I was running Google Earth. On the second occasion, I was playing a demo of a game. The power settings were on low in both instances. Is the problem that the video card was not receiving enough power or am I looking at imminent hardware failure. I have the 3 year depot warranty so I can certainly send it in for repair if necessary but I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a power setting. Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.
Regards,
ChadLook at this thread:
http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T510-Nvidia-Display-stopped-and-recovered/m...
You are not the only one with this problem scout929.
Its not the best idea to do a direct comparison with the W510 thread, since that model doesnt use the same graphic processor as the T510 - but its a guideline to the driver being faulty nevertheless. So I guess we just have to wait for a driver that works better... -
When trying to login to iTunes I receive a message iTunes has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop and iTunes automatically closes.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Y510p and problem with Update Nvidia Driver
Hi everyonei have problem with updating my y510p lenovo laptop nvidia driver ,my current nvidia driver version is 327.62 which i download from lenovo website,Now for better performance in new games like gta v and witcher3 ,i decide to updating nvidia driver,first remove my nvidia graphic driver from add or remove then download nvidia ver 350 from nvidia official web site , which nvidia website confirm it support my graphic card which is Gt755m , then i install new ver and during install i check clean install , after successful install , restart laptop , then there was problem . when i try to open nvidia control panel it wont running and an error showed up and said "You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU" .i try to open a game , game running in really low fps and i find out game run on hd graphic of my laptop and my nvidia graphic wont run .The only way to repair was i install my last nvidia driver 327.62 and run a system restore .guys what is your suggestion and how i can update my y510p nvidia driver ?Thanks
Hi Y510Man,
The video graphics installation order is important. You need to install the Intel Graphics first, and then do the Nvidia. IIRC you should un-install the Nvidia driver, then re-install (or upgrade) the Intel HD Graphics driver. Reboot, and install the new Nvidia driver.
I don't know why, but every time I upgraded my Y470 Nvidia driver, I had to use this procedure. First install, or re-install, the Intel driver, then install the Nvidia. You can't just upgrade the Nvidia driver without a re-install of the Intel. I think it has to do with the Optimus setting, and the automatic switching.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers

Display drivers have failed and recovered.
First off I have a k450e that i bought in August. I started receiving the message "Display driver has failed and recovered" yesterday when trying to play several games. It will freeze just after starting a game revert to the windows screen and display that message. It was working fine the night before, no updates were applied that i'm aware of. I have tried a clean installation of drivers, rolling back drivers and have even recovered my system to how it was when I bought it. I have only had this PC for 3 months and have never encountered anything like this, especially in such a short amount of time of owning a system. Please help
Its only a driver issue
use a program called driver sweep to remove your gfx card drivers then reinstall the drivers
anything could cause a problem with the drivers for a program being install or uninstalled
Thx dave
