Acrobat compare feature

I typeset a lot of books and so do frequent compares. The problem is Acrobat X's text compare feature is not at all useful. The compares take a long time to run, you can't compare books that have more than 250 pages and then the result is hard to read because it is so complicated (and I hate the little notes you have to open to see the text to figure out what changed)
I use Acrobat 7 to run my compares because it is faster, there are no page limitations and the results are simple (underlines and crossouts).
Does anyone else have this problem or am I missing something in the way the program is supposed to work? The option I use is text only compare.

- You can't install Acrobat Pro alongside Acrobat Standard. You will need to remove Standard to be able to install Pro.
- You (probably) can't upgrade your license if it's a part of an enterprise license. The entire license will need to be upgraded.
- It's not possible to install just the "Compare Documents" function as a sort of add-on to Acrobat Standard.

How can I use the hardware compare feature of the 6551 card to trigger scripts

I can dynamically and seamlessly generate different waveforms by triggering different scriptTriggers that drive one or more of the 4 PFI lines. However, I need to evaluate a channel at a specific location or locations set by a script marker in real-time and generate a different waveform stored in on-board memory based on the result of the evaluation. I have attempted to use the hardware compare feature without any success. I am trying to dynamically respond to an I2C device based on the ACKs or NACK response of the device under test. Can the 6551 card accomplish this? Has anyone successfully tested an I2C or SMBus communication stream with 6551 card?

I can understand why hardware compare did not work out for you application. Hardware compare uses a signal that was generated to make a digital pattern and then waits a few clock cycles before acquiring the signal that needs to be compared to the digital pattern.
I would look into using a script trigger to evaluate the channel value, where the script structure controls when it is evaluated. Please note that script triggers will need to be cleared after they are detected for reasserting. Some script syntax actually clear the script trigger and then use a wait until script trigger structure. Please refer to the HS DIO Help for documentation on Common Scripting Use Cases.
Please provide us with further details about your application. The more information, the better! I was not too clear on what you where wanting to evaluate and where is it coming from.

Please compare features of CS6 & extended.
This was asked a couple of months ago and the answer was not helpful (download & try them). I've found a comparison tool that shows what's in the bundles and another that shows what's different in the different upgrades, but not one that show CS6 & CS6 Extended.
I've also found various discussions about extended use, but they didn't clearly spell out the differences. I get the concept that Extended is about 3D, while CS6 is 2D, but that's about it. Any specifics available?

Acrobat pro features and commands

i have adobe acrobat x pro insatlled on my pc,and im currently doing tutorials,but the tutors has acrobat 9 i think.
id like to get his features appearing in my acrobat as well,like the advanced tool panel section and so on.
hes making selections on btns and then double clicking on them to bring up button properties,so im trying to find where they
are located in my application.so is it possible i can see the same tools?

Acrobat Compare PDF question

When comparing two PDF documents, I see that Acrobat can indicate to me that a certain area of text has font and size differences. Is it possible for Adobe to list the specific font and sizes on the documents as well as the generic statement of there being differences? (i.e. document 1 block of text X is in 10 point Times New Roman, document 2 block of text X is in 14 point Helvetica)

Acrobat pro features for Ipad?

Is there an Ipad app with the same features as Acrobat pro? I want to be able to create a pdf document out of several photos, and to crop each page (photo).

In the latest version of Adobe Reader for iOS, if you subscribe to the PDF Pack service, you can convert images to PDF directly within the app. But, you won't be able to crop them...

Acrobat Compare Documents: "Acrobat could not compare the documents completely."

There is a bug with Acrobat X and XI Pro that does not allow you to compare PDF documents created from unknown applications. We use XMetaL Author Enterprise and Acrobat considers it an unknown application. You can verify the application setting of your PDF from File > Properties.
I entered a bug report with Adobe on 4 April 2013.
To work around this bug, you can save the PDFs as Word documents and create new PDFs from Word before comparing them in Acrobat. The new PDFs have Microsoft Word associated with them and compare successfully.
Open a PDF to compare.
From the File menu, select Save As Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.
Save the file to your computer.
In Windows Explorer, right-click the Word document and select Convert to Adobe PDF.
Save the file to your computer.
Repeat Step 1 through Step 5 for the second PDF to compare.
Compare the new PDFs (View > Compare Documents).
These steps are also useful to convert a PDF to a Word document, if that format is needed.
Hope this helps others! If anyone has another way around this issue, I am interested to hear.

This bug still exists in Acrobat 11.0.09.
I have not been contacted about my bug report, either.
It would be optimal to have this fixed in the product and not need the workaround I documented above.

Acrobat comparing issues

hi all,
We have issues using compare pdfs, there were jsut few correction in final stage.
When we compare pdf files, the pages which don't have correction is highlighted, please see image below.
All the "ligature" are highlighted, please advise how to resolve this issue.

The Compare Documents feature is not widely used. Perhaps others could investigate if you provided links to the files (if possible).

Acrobat have features similar to excel macros?

Does acrobat have a feature similar to excel macros? Example, clicking a button on title page starts a new form page with logo and questions already in place? The problem is the number of forms per customer is different so I would need the title page to have a built in function that generates new form pages.

Acrobat uses the JavaScript scripting language to provide automation code.
Acrobat also has the ability to edit the tool bars.
There is a built in tool to insert or add a new blank page.
One can also create a template that can be used create a new page from itself and it can include images and form fields. And if you program it correctly the fields will be renamed for each page and the scripts for performing the calculations will automatically adjust for the added page.

Acrobat combine feature switching pages?

I'm using Acrobat 9.5 (Windows) in a business where we handle PDFs from customers every day. For each project, some of my clients prefer to send me all their pages in a PDF that has already been assembled. Other clients send the pages individually and I use Acrobat to group them, check the page order, and output an assembled PDF. (We convert the PDF to a series of images they can view online in a browser.)
Recently I started having problems with projects for a client who sends individual pages. Two months ago, after I posted his project online, he emailed to say one pair of pages was reversed, and could I please fix that. It was pretty embarrassing, considering how basic page order is. So, one month ago, when I combined the pages in Acrobat, I very carefully made sure the pages were in sequence. S-l-o-w-l-y counting "10 ... 11 ... 12 ... 13 ... 14 ... etc" as I viewed the pending combination in Acrobat. I saved the result and converted the PDF. This time when he contacted me to say THREE pairs of pages had been flipped, I was amazed.
I have a half dozen clients with up to 50 or 60 regular projects. This only happens to one client. Plus it's recently started. Can't find anything wrong with his original files. They have normal file numbers. Any ideas?

I'm taking their PDFs, selecting all in Windows Explorer, right clicking to get/use "Combine supported files in Acrobat" from the context menu, which takes me into Acrobat Pro 9.5 to move pages up or down if necessary, then output a standard PDF w/all pages of their magazine.
From that point on, it goes through a process that basically converts each page into a single-frame Flash file (image) for online Web viewing. Pretty much SOP for digital publishers.
Don't know why they're using that route to export their PDFs. Also don't know why some clients send individual pages and some send a single document with all pages already in a PDF file. I don't usually have reason to query them about their production.

IPhoto 6 COMPARE feature

I'm using iPhoto 6
when i'm editing in full screen mode, when i click on COMPARE it brings up either the next or previous photo- NOT the photo i'm working on prior to my changes (?)

This is from the iPhoto Help menu:
Comparing two or more photos
You can view and edit two or more photos side-by-side in full-screen view.
To compare two or more photos:
Select one of the photos you want to view.
Click the Full Screen button (shown below).
Click the Compare button. The photo you selected is compared with the photo to the right.
To change the second photo, select a different photo in the photo browser at the top.
You can compare more photos at one time by Command-clicking to select additional photos in the photo browser.
You can also compare multiple photos side-by-side in edit view. Select a folder or album in the Source list, then click the Edit button. Select the photos you want to view or edit by holding down the Command key as you click.

Adobe acrobat professional Features

I am planning on buying Adobe professional but want to ensure there is a particular feature I need.
My plan is to have a simple web site to control the distribution of printed material in pdf format. What I want is to control the life span of the downloaded files so they cannot be printable for ever. I was hoping that a simple set up in adobe professinal would allow for a timer to lock the file 24 hours after download. Is this possible?

You can Google Digital Rights Management and come up with some other options (of which I can't personally vouch for) but Adobe does offer a solution. See http://www.adobe.com/manufacturing/resources/drm/
One thing to keep in mind, when Adobe doesn't give you a price right along with the product advertisement, you can almost be sure that the price tag will not be in the affordability range of anything short of a Fortune 500 company.

Tolerance in sdo_geom_metadata are set to 0.0005 for both features and the two features should give OVERLAPBDYINTERSECT as correct result.
The intersection geometries touch from inside - so the result with correct tolerance is wrong - why ?

Hi, This looks like bug 3970503, which is marked as fixed in 10.2. I'm not sure it's the same though, so this is bug 4200444
