Simon ATS, "4.1-- PDF pages don't appear in web browser window (Acrobat 4-7.x)" #1, 5 Jul 2005 7:39 am

  • Acrobat X problem with ClearScan in Windows 7

Using Acrobat X (10.1.2) Standard on WIndows 7 Pro. I have been scanning documents with OCR set to 'Searchable text' for months. I like the ClearScan option better, but when I changed the scanning options to use it Windows reported 'Acrobat has stopped working' and shut it down.
It happened on page 2 of a B&W scan at 600 dpi, and on page 5 of a greyscale at 300 dpi. The B&W problem was completely reproduceable, I only tried the greyscale once.
I tried the B&W scan (three pages) using 'Searchable text', followed by Tools > Document processing > Optimise scanned PDF and chose ClearScan there, and it worked fine.
I don't see any comments on this, although there are Mac comments related to ClearScan in Acrobat 9.
    Is this a known problem?

    Ankit, thanks for replying.
    I have a CanoScan 4400F.
To check it again I scanned some pages in B&W after changing the option to ClearScan using Configure Presets. After the second page had scanned and the progress windows showed “Initialising OCR” it crashed. Windows report was only that Adobe Acrobat had stopped working, no “Details” link to click. I searched around and did not find a crash log, just the information below. Windows did suggest a solution – that I get an update to Adobe Reader, however I do not have Adobe Reader installed!
I tried a second time, and it was fine for 3 pages but crashed on the fourth. These are multi-page scans – I click “Scan more pages”.
    Using Windows 7 Pro (32-bit), fully up-to-date.

  • Acrobat 8 Probleme mit Java-Skript (zoomType)

    Hallo,
    jso.addScript("Skript_Zoom", "this.zoomType = zoomtype.fitH")
    Fehlermeldung ("GeneralError: Vorgang fehlgeschlagen...").
    Alle übrigen Skripte (z.B. "jso.addScript("Skript_Seitenanzeige", "this.layout = " & Chr(34) & "SinglePage" & Chr(34)")
    Peter

  • Acrobat Launch Problems

Acrobat 9 will no longer launch.  What can I do to correct this?

    Windows 7
I don't know of anything that changed.
I tried to open a document I had just downloaded and nothing happened at
all.  Same thing when I tried to open the program itself
I decided to restart my computer, and after I did that, it is now working
    again.
It has done this on several occasions before and once I had to download
some sort of patch or update to get it going again.
    Thank you for the reply!

  • Acrobat X problem with image scaling in Excel

We are using Acrobat X standard with Excel 2007.
The problem is that when using the Create PDF button on the Acrobat toolbar within Excel, if the document has been scaled using Page Layout-Scale option within Excel, the resulting PDF has the image the correct size, but it has not been scaled. So the dimensions are correct, but only half of the image will be visible.
To see what I mean, in Excel, add a picture, then choose Page Layout-Scaling and set to e.g. 50%. Check the print preview to see how it should look, and make sure you have a real printer selected in File-Print (NOT Adobe PDF printer). Then create PDF using the toolbar button. The image in the PDF will be wrong.
This works fine if using native PDF converter (e.g. Save As PDF file) or by printing to the PDF printer, or by using the CreatePDF button when the Adobe PDF printer is selected as default in the print options.
This seems to be a bug in X as in 9 it worked fine.
Is there a solution to this?
    Thanks

I should add, I updated to 10.1 and it did not resolve the issue.

  • Acrobat XI problems in IE 11 including flash

Having recently purchased and installed Acrobat XI on my Windows 8.1 laptop, several problems occured. First off, I can't open PDFs. IE asks me to allow add-on "AcroPDF.dll". Pressing Allow or Allow on all websites just refreshes the page and reasks the same question over and over again.
Also, since installing I get the exact same problem with Flash, asking about the add-on "Adobe Flash Player from Microsoft Windos Third Party Application Compon...". Pressing any of the Allow options gives the same result as above.
I've read around and several people seems to have this problem - but not a single forum has presented a working solution. I have tried the following:
    Resetting IE
    Reinstalling Acrobat
Updating everything (Windows, IE, Acrobat, etc.)
    Toggling compatability mode
    Toggling 64-bit kernel
    Toggling ActiveX-filtering
Nothing has solved the problem. I am sure however that for me it is Acrobat causing the problem. As soon as I uninstall Acrobat everything is back to normal, Flash working just fine without any questions about add-ons. As soon as I reinstall it, it's back to the problems above.
Is there anyone who has a 100% working solution to this? (Firefox and Chrome are not solutions)

I just chatted with Adobe support. The lack of service in Adobes support is astounding. After waiting an hour I hung up on their phone support. The chat just went through the regular trouble shooting list and then said "Contact Microsoft Support". Since I'm not technical enough to solve this on my own, I guess I am left with the option to uninstall Acrobat to be able to view PDFs and Flash in my browser.
Is there no one else who has found a solution to this?

  • Preview / Adobe Acrobat reader problems

    Hi,
My Mac was working fine until two days ago when I installed Adobe CS3.
Before, when I tried to download PDFs from my university intranet, Preview would open the files within Safarai. If I saved a PDF and opened it later, again, Preview worked fine.
But CS3's Adobe Acrobat kept crashing when I tried to open files in it, and I couldn't access any PDFs posted on the from the university intranet. Also, Adobe Acrobat kept crashing when I tried to open it directly. Photoshop gave me an error, but left me "ignore".
    I reinstalled CS3. Same problems.
I UN-installed CS3. Same problem. Now when I try to open a PDF from the intranet, I get either a blank box where the PDF should be viewed within Safari, or a message saying something about Adobe not being able to locate something. But Adobe should have been uninstalled and I'd hoped Preview would be the default again??
Please does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi again,
For some reason, yesterday the Library folder seemd to be empty. Today there was an Adobe plug-in file in there, so I deleted it. I also deleted the Adobe folder from the Library. As far as I can tell, I have no more files relating to Adobe on my Mac.
However, I'm still having the same problem -- I can't open PDFs from my university's intranet. Preview does not seem to be the default any more.
However, if I click on a PDF that I already have saved, it DOES open Preview.
Please does anyone have an ideas? I need to get this worked out this weekend before I go away and so I can access files over the Christmas holidays.
    Thank you.

  • Acrobat printing problems (solved)

    Hi Folk
I'm getting on well with Arch apart from one problem, I can not print from Acrobat reader, it accepts the command and does precisely nothing, the jobs are appearing in cups but not being printed, I can print from Open Office and test print from cups but no cooperation with acrobat,  anyone have any ideas? thanks

I don't know what DE are you using. In my case, I use xfce and when acroread starts with his stupidity I just change the print command to 'xfprint'. That forces acroread to redirect the print job to xfce's printing frontend, and problem solved.
Now, if you're using kde, I guess there is something named 'kdeprint', 'kprint' or similar. For gnome, I've no idea.
    I hope this helps.
p.s. Sometimes, cups takes his time to print. When its taking too long I purge cups' temp files and restart the daemon.

  • Acrobat Reader problem in mini-PC

Hello, I have a mini PC, and can't use some preference settings in Adobe Acrobat Reader due to too small screen. For example, I can´'t see the OK-button.  Adobe has no scrollbar. Anybody who know how to solve this problem?

Thank you for your tip. Yes, I can, but the text then becomes almost unreadable. I hope Adobe some day will draw attention to this little problem and do something about it.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro problem .. Please help!

We have been using Adobe Acrobat Pro for my school laptop for last 4 years without any problems. Recently I have started getting error messages, where it says "It is a read only file. Please save the file under new name or folder". Sometimes it works if I change the name but sometimes the changes are lost. It is so frusttating as the laptop and the program is used for my 6th grade student with special needs. I updated the program but the problem still exists.
    Thank you for your help.

I think you're expecting too much of a conversion which will try to preserve the text and graphics, but not really the layout. Especially as HTML is much less flexible than PDF in the placing of things on page.
Best to start again using a state-of-the-art HTML editor.

  • Adobe Acrobat Forms Problem

    Hello There,
i think i have a problem, ihave created a form using Adobe Acrobat X, and distributed it, then the distributed one, is filled using a little application that fill the fields using a SQL database, after that, that little application generates a pdf file with some fields filled in, but i need that the user who recieve this form should be able to fill in another additional fields, but the form wont let him.
it shows a warning sayin "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document"
    what can i do?
    Greetings

Enable the extended features with Acrobat.

  • Adobe Acrobat Activation Problem

One of our users is having a problem with Adobe Acrobat Standard 8 OEM. It was working fine until a recent update. Now it opens for about ten seconds and then closes. If I open Distiller, it says that Acrobat needs to be activated which it already has been. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but the same problem remains. I've also uninstalled with Microsoft Windows Installer and then reinstalled. An Adobe tech has worked on this for about an hour to no avail. There's got to be some way to activate this copy and use. Appreciate your assistance.

Many people sem to have this problem and for most, rebooting does not solve it.
I have this problem, too. I'm on Acrobat 8 and Windows XP.
    Usually this works for me:
    - deleting the acrotray process (ctrl alt dl, select processes, sort alphabetically, delete acrotray)
    - deleting the Flexnet file (_00080000_tsf.data in FLEXNET folder - probably at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FLEXnet).
    Sometimes it doesn't.
When it doesn't, I go into MS-Word, open a random doc and click on the PDF icon on the toolbar (this bypasses the PDF-writing method which uses your printer setup/drivers). Somehow, this works fine and the PDF is created.
I then go to the original doc I wanted to create, in any app, and use the printer (ie 'control p') driver to write the PDF - the method that had originally failed. The PDF then writes no problem. This always fixes it.
If this doesn't work, there are multiple (and some very complex) fixes suggested by Adobe in the Help section online - search for 'Adobe 8 activation error'. Hopefully the above may help.
Hope this helps - but users seem to all have different configurations and different fixes.

  • Acrobat X Problem

After downloading Acrobat X, the program closes after 20 seconds or so everytime I open it or any PDF. I see others are having a similar problem but nothing has worked to fix it from what I read. Anybody find a solution for the problem?

I have this problem, but I don't have any CS6 apps installed.
    Currently on Acrobat X 10.1.4.38
Other adobe products I have installed are:
    Acrobat 9 pro ext 9.5.2
    LiveCycle Designer 8.2
    Livecycle Workbench & Server Es3
    Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.2.1131
Chrome Version 22.0.1229.94 m (up to date at time of writing)
    AIR 3.3.0.3670
I just uninstalled the ES2 Rights Management extension for MS Office and the crashing after 20 secs appears to have stopped.
I'lll report back if this is a stable solution.

  • Security features in AA Pro & Acrobat Reader problem

    Hi,
In Adobe Acrobat Pro my PDF is shown to have "no security" - everything is allowed.
When I open that saved documnet in Reader 9.4 it has security features I did not put there.
In particular, no adding of comments (and markups).
Any ideas how to resolve problem welcome.

    Thanks Graffiti,
There seems no problem with the AA pro - opening advanced features - under security properties everything is allowed.
The problem is that when I open that same PDF in Acrobat Reader (which has no "Advanced") it does nlot allow the adding of comments.
In Acrobat Reader on toolbar under Document > Security > Show Security Properties : Security : Document Restrictions Summary : under Commenting it is marked : Not Allowed.
Any idea how to get around this.
What I want to do is to be able to make PDFs and send then to someone else for adding comments but Reader does not allow this and I am not disabling it when I make the PDF with AA Pro.
    Cheers
