Acrobat Connect quits
I can start a meeting on my Intel Mac, but if I try to share
the screen, Acrobat Connect Add-in quits unexpectedly.
Tried a lot of trashing prefs but still having problems.
Even tried starting Safari under Rosetta.
It didn't work.
I would love to purchase and use Connect, but can't under
this circumstance.
Two possible work-arounds to get the 6x0 Add-in to work with
Intel Macs:-
Purge shared objects
1) Check for multiple shared objects directories:
a. In Finder, navigate to
<user home>\Library\Preferences\Macromedia\Flash
Player\#SharedObjects
There should only be one randomly-named folder in the Shared
Objects directory.
2) Delete any empty folders in the #SharedObjects directory
or folders containing the oldest versions of the shared objects.
Run under Rosetta
1. Make sure all instances of the browser are closed.
2. Ctrl+click the browser binary in the Applications folder.
3. Select "Get Info" from the contextual menu.
4. Check "Open using Rosetta."
5. Close the info dialog for the browser binary.
6. Launch the browser and try a meeting.

Acrobat 7 quits on printing Windows XP SP3
Hi all
Anytime I try to print a PDF from Acrobat it quits. I get an obscure memory reference error message.
It's with any PDF, wheter I generate it from InDesign (printing to pdf or exporting)
And it happens with PDFs I haven't created.
I tried the Detect and Repair and that did it's thang, but it still crashes.
Any ideas or temp files etc. I could remove that might be causing this?
Also fully patched. This is sorted out. I had Print as Black ticked, and that was crashing every pdf sent to print. I don't know why, but I don't need that item checked.
So working normally now, although I would like to fix that switch so it works properly. -
Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in 9.3 r139 has encountered a problem
I have one particular user that cannot get into the web meetings using Acrobat Connect Add-in. We can log her on with any other PC with no problems. Something on this PC is hanging up.
She gets to the login screen and can log in and accept the agreement...then in IE, nothing happens. If I try to use Firefox, we get the following error:
"Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in 9.3 r139 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have tried the following solutions:
- Uninstalled/re-installed Flash
- Uninstalled/re-installed Adobe Connect Add-in
- Made sure Windows updates were current
- Deleted all temp files and cache
- Re-installed IE 8.
The problem is obviously not browser specific and appears to be with the actual Connect Add-in. Does anybody have any ideas or solutions?can you expand on what you mean by "nothing happens" does any 2nd window launch (connectAddin)? is IE8's popup blocker on or any popup blocker? is the other computer configured the same as the computer that does not work?
you dont state which windows or flash version (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html) is in use by the client or what your Adobe Connect version is or if the server is doing SSL. if you are not sure what version you have, append version.txt to your connectserver url.
example http://myconnect.mydomain/version.txt
and how the client is connecting to your connect server, is your server behind a firewall, is their client behind a firewall. if they are behind a firewall is there company ports open for RTMP ports.
also I dont have a quick fix for you but some troubleshooting tips
you stated that they removed the ConnectAddin from the add/remove programs but you may also need to check to make sure it was removed
#connectaddin location, can remove the connectaddin folder, once you reinstall the new it will recreate the connectaddin folder
win7: C:\Users\{userid}\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin
winXP: C:\Documents and Settings\{userid}\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\www.macromedia.com\bin\connectaddin
to test and capture log info from the connectaddin, must create the mms.cfg
Connectaddin log folder, the file name will start with connectaddin-{current_date_time}.log
win7: C:\Users\{userid}\Documents\
winXP: C:\Documents and Settings\{userid}\My Documents\
#for winXX
#c:\windows\system32\mms.cfg
SingleLogFile=0
PlayerLogging=1
flashlogging=true
have them send you the logs to review you may also need to review the connect debug.log around the same timeframe, are you seeing anything odd.
after the testing make sure you have them comment out the lines in the mms.cfg, otherwise it will create a new file everytime they access a connect meeting room.
you can append ?mode=xml to the meeting URL. this will give you some detailed info within the browser. like which application server they are connected to and other info.
you could have the user try accessing the meeting room without the connect add-in, the addin is only required for that person to share. just add ?launcher=false to the end of the meeting url, this will force the meeting room to display within the browser and just use the flash player. -
Hi
I did a fresh installation of Mastercollection CS6 on my new macbook. The other softwares such as photoshop, illustrator work perfectly fine except for Acrobat X.
It just simply won't start and it kept giving the "Acrobat X quit unexpectedly." I tried re-installing CS6, updating it to the latest version and re-activation but it is still the same error.
Please help!

The Adobe chat support proposed a few solutions (reinstall, reactivate, repair disk permission) and the last solution works. Managed to get Acrobat to work through the following steps:
1) Un-install Acrobat X
2) Create a new account with Administrator rights
3) Log out and login using new account
4) Install Acrobat X
5) Launch Acrobat X
Acrobat works on the new account but the same problem persists on the old account. Both accounts have the same administrator rights, but according to Adobe chat support, there's a difference between a built-in Admin and newly created Admin on mac which I have absolute no idea.
Anyway I just migrated my data from the old account to the new account to make everything work -
Acrobat Connect Add-in 7.0 r455 has encountered a problem and needs to close
Maybe this should have been posted here instead of the
Acrobat Connect Professional forum? I guess i don't know the
different between the two products. :) We are running an Adobe
Connect Enterprise Server.
Greetings!
My support group is currently working with several end-users
of Adobe Connect Professional. These users are presenters and are
encountering an issue whenever they try to start their Camera and
Voice Pod. I've sent this up the chain towards Adobe on our end...
but figured I'd make a post on the forums here to see if anyone
else has been having this issue. I was able to find one mention of
the error on some site that was all in Spanish... but that site was
having timeout issues and I couldn't hack around them. (Plus my
knowledge of tech -spanish is very limited)
If the Acrobat Connect add-in is NOT installed on these
users' PCs then they are able to use the Camera and Voice Pod
without any issues. Once the Add-In is installed, however, as soon
as they click to activate the Camera and Voice Pod the add-in
crashes with the error "Acrobat Connect Add-in 7.0 r455 has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience."
These users are using Windows XP, Windows 2000 SP4 and
Windows 200 Sp3... all are having the same problem. We've had them
try different microphones, different browsers... nothing seems to
affect this. Some other troubleshooting steps include
removing/reinstalling Flash, clean-boot in Windows XP, disabling
all security, and uninstalling/reinstalling the Add-in itself.
Any ideas / suggestions from anyone would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks! Was this problem resolved? I'd be keen to hear details of the fix please?
I'm seeing the same on v9.3 R110.
Thank you,

Variables and Actions in Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro
Hello Gurus,
I have been searching different forums around the net for three days, so I am really frustrated since I cant find anything related to this, and I am even thinking if this is really possible.
I'll try to explain what I wanted to make. I am using Captivate 4 and publishing my content through Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro server. I want to use this "Variables and Actions" Feature of my current version of Captivate. Now, I want that when my user open a training which she is enrolled with, I want her name to appear on the content, like "Hello Irish" something like that, without requiring her to log on her name. How could I make use this variables and actions in captivate 4 to get automatically the "first-name" variable of my user in Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro of my user?
Is this possible guys?
Thanks.
TroyHi,
I am looking at Connect Pro right now, and as I can see it on its default page it displays the name and lastname of the logged user, moreover, there is a part where you could either invite existing user, or create existing user, as mentioned in this link: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AcrobatConnectPro/7.5/Using/WS5C856274-D671-4665-9CD0-29868C89 60F2.html so I am thinking If maybe there could be a way where I can retrieve the "first-name"of the user through Variables and Actions of Captivate. Since I am trying to avoid prompting the user to type in their first names, I wish to do automatically, that is if it possible.
Thanks.

Acrobat connect pro Vs msn messenger
Hi,
I am making business plan an online digital teaching school. I wanted to center my virtual classroom tools around acrobat connect pro.
Someone i hired for advises just told me that msn messenger can do most of what acrobat connect does (pertaining to virtual classroom):
voip, whiteboarding, file sharing, screen sharing, screen controlling, application sharing, etc.
On top of that msn messenger is free.
Do you think that his analysis lacks something? I mean it looks a bit beautiful to have all these for free while i would normally pay acrobat connect
45$/month/host !! If i can remove 540$/year on my business plan iam surely excited to do, but i need to be cautious and ask what would i miss? What kind of pitfalls to anticipate if i switch msn for connect on my business plan?
Simply put how would you compare connect pro to msn messenger, why would connect pro be a best suited tool for my virtual class then msn?
Thank you for your inputs as they will help me make a better business choice.I'm having a similar issue with my iMac. I was connecting fine to all microsoft services, and suddenly, with no change to the mac (that I'm aware of,) I can't connect. The problem extends beyond adium though. I cannot connect to hotmail, or login.live.com either. I just get network timeouts. It has nothing to do with my router, or dns, as my girlfriends macbook are setup on the same wireless router, with the same dns, and she can connect fine.
Things were even stranger with I thought to try a web-based proxy to connect to hotmail, with success.
It almost seems like my iMac has ports firewalled, even though it is turned off. Do you have a similar experience? -
HOW DO I CANCEL MY ACCOUNT FOR Acrobat Connect Pro?
At account registration the following was promised:
"Acrobat Connect Pro monthly and annual subscription automatically renew and are nonrefundable, but may be canceled. Adobe charges your credit card at the beginning of each subscription term."
I used service 1 month for 55 dollars by card. The second month I did not use service, but from a card was gone still 55 dollars repeatedly.
Anywhere in back-office there is no button for possibility of closing of an account (for cancelling).
How to stop payment of money from a card?
How to close an account (How may I canceled It)?
How to return money for service violently imposed to me which I did not use and which I can not refuse in бек site office?Cancel http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/return-cancel-or-change-order.html

Unable to Install Acrobat Connect Add-In
I'm trying to install the Add-in on one of my PCs so that I can share the screen. It asks me if I want to install the add-in but clicking on the Yes button (or the No button, for that matter) does nothing. I'm referring to the little pop-up dialog which says:
To use this application, you need the
Adobe Acrobat Connect Add-in. Would
you like to install it now?
At that point, those buttons are dead. I tried tabbing through the buttons to select the Yes button and then pressing Space but that has no effect either. Tabbing does work to highlight the buttons, the "?" and the overal dialog but once the Yes or No button is highlighted there seems to be no way to select any of the buttons.
I can right-click on the dialog and I get the
Settings
About Adobe Flash Player 10
menu. Settings is diabled but I can choose About which shows that I have FP 10.0.42.34 installed. Other than that, at this point, there's nothing I can do in the meeting room window except to exit.
This happens in both Firefox 3.6 and Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 7. I've tried repeatedly, tried rebooting.
How can I get the add-in installed??
David SalahiHi David!
Maybe you could installing it by first downloading the installer manually and then running that locally. You can find the installer for version 7.5 here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/connect/updaters.html
Also make sure that you have sufficient privileges to be able to install software on your machine...

Outlook 2007 Plug-in for Acrobat Connect
I am attempting to install the Outlook 2007 Plug-in for
Acrobat Connect. After the plugin is installed and Outlook is
started I am prompted for a meeting url, username and password. I
enter a valid meeting url, username and password then told that
"The meeting room you specified is incorrect. Please enter a
different meeting room." I have entered a number of valid meeting
room addresses with no luck.
Any suggestions would be appreciated...
BruceYou may be having some network issues, if you are behind
firewalls or proxy servers. There is no documentation on these
issues, so here is the only advice I have ever heard:
"If they have Windows Server 2003 R2 they have an option for
a print server and they could push it as a printer to any group
policy they wanted"
Otherwise, feel free read the manual:

Acrobat Connect Pro LMS 7.5 server cache issue - displaying old content
Our Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro server is showing old Captivate-created content from about 4-6 weeks ago.
I loaded 35+ sets of Captivate 3 (SCORM 1.2, HTML, zipped) content onto our Acrobat Connect Pro LMS about 6 weeks ago.
I converted all training content from Captivate 3.0.1 to 4.0.1, 4 weeks ago by opening each file in Captivate 4 and following prompts to "Save As" new files with different file names.
I reloaded all content 4 weeks ago, and again 2 weeks ago.
I reloaded about half of all content again last week.
End User Acceptance testing performed this week showed that most of the courses are showing old content, ranging from 2-6 weeks old
Attempted fixes and workarounds:
Deleting content entirely and reloaded from scratch - this will not work long term, as we lose usage data each time we reload completely new files.
Contacted Adobe, provided times to track incidents of the issue. We reached Tier 2 - who told us it was our problem and that everything appeared to be working fine from their side.
New workaround - load new content and reattach course to new content. This presents the same long term issue as the first workaround, but enables us to retain older versions of content in the system, should we need to revert or report on it.
Gaining server side access is a bit challenging due to the hosting situation we have, so I am looking (ideally) for a solution that can be performed from the Administrator/Author Frontend. However, I want to learn the real cause of the problem, wherever it might reside, so that it can be properly corrected and avoided in the future. I am calling this a server cache issue, as it seems the server has somewhere retained unwanted old versions of content, preventing current content from being displayed to end users. Viewing content as an end user = see old content. Viewing content from the Content area (Author view) shows the current files, so I know they are on the server and are loading correctly, up to a point.
I am preparing all content for another round of loading/reloading due to other issues and updates, so republishing and reloading all 35+ files into the LMS is unavoidable at this point.
This issue is keeping our LMS from launching to several thousand users across the country, so any suggestions or helpful tips are much appreciated.I think I have isolated the source of this problem. It's the Pitstop Professional 9 plug in. I un-installed this, and everything opens quicker than greased lightning. I re-installed it and it's back to slowsville.
Unfortunately Pitstop is essential to my workflow.
Until recently I did my pre-press on a Mac G5 with Acrobat Pro 7 and Pitstop 6.5. I never had this problem with slow file opening. But it seems that the delays would occur when I used the plug-in with large complex files.. So it would open files as fast as you'd expect from an elderly machine. But starting to use Pitstop would result in a prolonged period of staring at a spinning beachball.
I wonder is there any way to stop the Pitstop plug-in from initializing until it is used? So the plug-in stays inert until you select the tool from from the menus. -
Acrobat Connect Pro 7.5 will not open MS Outlook 2010
I have recently updated my OS to Windows 7. Acrobat Connect Pro 7.5 will not open MS Outlook 2010 with the preformatted email message after submitting via the Email Invitations button. MS Internet Explorer 8.0 goes to a blank page. Is there a compatibility issue with Acrobat Connect Pro 7.5, MS Outlook 2010, and/or Windows 7?
WhOaGRL86 wrote:
its been running for months, with no problem what so ever
You were running a non-Intel version on an Intel Mac. You might not have run into problems before but it was only a matter of time. You cannot run an old version and then install brand new versions of ProKit and QuickTime - it will just break.
So you can either reinstall everything from scratch and then just keep it as it is without ever installing software updates, or you can upgrade to FCP 7. I recommend the latter. -
Acrobat XI Quits When Trying To Print
Recently installed several Adobe products from the Creative Cloud onto my Snow Leopard Mac and whenever I try to print something from Acrobat, it quits. There's a bug in there somewhere but I have no idea how to rectify the situation and use the product to print PDFs. I had to revert to an earlier version yesterday in order to print something. Thoughts?
Install version 1.1 of the Security Update 2012-001. BTW, if you're running Mac OS X 10.6, you have an Intel Mac, not a G5.

Recording streaming Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro meeting
Hi,
I want to record an on-demand streaming webinar (available for limited time) which uses adobe acrobat connect pro. Can someone please tell me what software I can use to record the webinars in this format.
Thanks,
RahulThe host of the meeting should be able to start and stop recording the live session whenever they want/need. Then the recording is viewable from a link, not dissimilar to the link for the live meeting.

Using an Osprey 100 card with Acrobat Connect Pro and Vista
Intrigued by a comment I saw on another forum, I tried setting each of the EXE files associated with an Osprey 100 card install in Vista to run in compatability mode for XP SP2, and my Osprey card analog inputs started working (at LAST!!) with Acrobat Connect Pro in Vista. This lets me attach VCRs/DVDs or any device with analog outputs to Acrobat Connect Pro without having to buy a new generation of Osprey or other Vista compatible analog capture cards.
Perhaps this will help someone.I believe I figured it was somewhere between Flash 5 and Flash 6. I say this because while the resulting presentations could be opened in QuickTime (which only uses Flash 5) a better result would be achieved by viewing in the browser. Either that, or QuickTime's Flash 5 support isn't complete.
