Acrobat Crashes then Displays License Screen

Recently installed CS6 Professional on a Mac Pro with Mavericks.  Since installation Acrobat does not work at all.  Program opens, as soon as I open a PDF it crashes and shows the license agreement screen.  I have tried with many different documents, same results.  Any ideas?

Hi vir624,
You may deactivate the suite and uninstall whole suite again. Then start your machine in safe mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US
And then in safe mode, repair disk permissions: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/repair-disk-permissions-and-repair-disk
Once you are done with above steps, install Acrobat and other applications, using the suite installer and activate. You may try launch Photoshop first and then Acrobat. And then try to reproduce the issue again.

Ajlan Huda.

  • Photoshop crashes while displaying welcome screen

We have developed a plug in for Photoshop. Once we have installed the same on target system, this customized welcome screen appears when we open photoshop. Now an attempt to close photoshop 'with the welcome screen still open results in a crash'. This welcome screen is a modal dialog, run on a thread.
I am not very comfortable with the idea of running this modal dialog on a thread. But, it has been implemented this way. I feel this is where things are going wrong.
Any tips or suggestions as to what can be wrong, or where i need to be looking to debug the same.
I have tried to debug the same, but in vain.
    thanks in adavnce

If you want a welcome screen you should make an automation plug-in that responds to first idle. You can probably get away with using a thread for your dialog. Make sure the thread does not communicate with the Photoshop. Have the thread talk to the main plug-in thread, the PluginMain routine that Photoshop called, if you need to use Photoshop call backs.

  • Elements Organizer 8 crashes after displaying initial screen

I have been using Elements 8 for over a year under XP and more recently W7.My catalogue has about 22k entries
For the last few days I have been experiencing a serious crash problem.  If I launch the main screen and select Organize, the program starts, then crashes 5-20 seconds after an initial screen showing a screenful of thumbnails appears.  The editor works OK.
Following some research on this forum and elsewhere I have tried numerous experiments (re-installing, launching directly with shift key, deleting prefs, disabling auto-analyzer, checking catalog by loading into trial version of  Lightroom,,,), without success.
The only semi-workround I've found is to launch the organizer directly with the shift key, then rename the catalog and open it.  Sometimes this keeps the program alive for a while.  But it crashes again if I try to start up 'normally'.
Do these clues ring any bells?  Especially with those at Adobe who know the product architecture?

    Hi e james w west,
Thanks for posting on Adobe forums.
As I understand you are not able to work with Elements Organizer 12.
It seems that the old catalog has gone bad.
    Please rename the old catalog as old.catalog name in the following location ;
    All Users: C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\Catalog Name
    Current User: C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\Catalog Name
After this you can try to launch Elements Organizer and it will ask to create a new catalog, please create a new one.
Let us Know if this helps or not.

  • Acrobat Pro X crashes when using Snagit screen capture

One of the users that I support is having some trouble with Snagit and Acrobat Pro X. When they try to use Snagit to capture a portion of the screen Acrobat crashes and they are forced to reopen the file.
We have uninstalled and re-installed both programs, and made sure they were both up to date.
Also during troubleshooting we found that it did not crash when under an admin account.
Any similar cases encountered like this before?
    Ideas on a fix?

Any ideas?   there was an update on adobe dated 2/25/13.   Perhaps if I uninstall it?   I need advice on how to uninstall. When I view updates and click on it, and then click uninstall, it goes back to the Program Screen, in Control, for all programs. Then do I click on Acrobat and Uninstall?  I am nervous about doing this. Thanks

  • My macbook pro freezes and then displays a blue screen with black stripes... do you know what's wrong with it?

My macbook pro freezes and then displays a blue screen with black stripes... do you know what's wrong with it?
I have a two and half year mac book pro... I've had some issues with the screen looking scrambled when I quit certain applications, but now it's turned into something worse.  I'll be working on my computer and the thing will freeze.  When I force restart, the first screen, the apple logo, will be a blue tint and won't boot up normally.  Then I try safe mood and it will then boot just fine.  But there are blue stripes on my screen.  The screen alternates from a blue tint to normal and if the computer freezes again the screen will become completely blue with black stripes.  I haven't tried reinstalling my software because I don't have the startup discs that came with my computer.  If I was sure that would fix it I would purchase them, but if it's a hardware issue I'm afraid that I'm screwed.  I've been able to successfully get the blue off my screen by putting it to sleep and then waking it up, but that's not working well anymore either.
Does anyone else have experience with this?  Is it the firmware or what?  I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
    Please help... Thanks!

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them  the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

  • Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 crashes when displaying pdf made from Word doc containing url text

    Hello,
I and a few others in my workplace have a similar issue.
Acrobat crashes when they scroll through and view a pdf file that was created from Word.  The Word document contains url text in its header to the effect of "visit us at www.blah.com ." They're running Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 and Office 2K Pro SR-1 on XP Pro SP2.
Even though the link is not an active link, (i.e. clicking on it does not open the web page), if I convert a document containing this header to PDF, Acrobat will not allow me to manipulate the file and will crash. When I take the same document and remove the web address, then convert from Word to PDF, I experience no problems with Acrobat (note that this is the identical file, but with the web address removed). This does not explain why Acrobat will work for awhile even with the web address in the header, then stop working. But it does appear to fix my problem with creating a PDF from Word, then manipulating it further.
Does anyone know how to allow for this text to exist in the header and still have a stable pdf file/acrobat behavior?
    The pdf is attached.
    Thanks....

To sum up, I've found that if a url beginning with www is in the Word document and then created to pdf Adobe will crash when viewing that pdf.  If it is deleted from the Word document before creating the pdf, Acrobat will not crash when viewing that pdf.

  • Acrobat Pro XI v.11.0.06 - PDF created by Microstation Print Organizer - Windows 7 -  Printing shaded squares on top of shaded building and not displayed on screen, only displays on paper when printing

I have attached an image of the sheet to show the areas that are shaded. The building is supposed to be shaded, however the two squares within are not. These squares are not in the file converted to pdf and do not display on screen when viewing the pdf. Also there are several sheets in the set with shaded buildings and only two of the buildings have this issue. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm seeing this same problem happen on multiple platforms here in the office. Every time this happens, the screen view does not show these shapes. I have been seeing the same problem except linework will be missing in one of these square shapes as well. Please give feedback if anyone knows what causes this problem. One thing to note -  these squares are the size and placement of a selection box within acrobat.  For example, if i use the selection tool and click near where the problem printed out, the shaded area that gets selected is in the exact same spot and is the exact size.@

yesterday i connect my iPhone with iTunes then one MSG displayed on screen about backup i ignore that but same time i have lost all my installed apps incouled my pics and vids from my iPhone pls help me.

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

When I was editing a picture that I reposted on instagram, I hit the edit button and then a white screen appears and randomly shuts down. I have also noticed that my iPod has been crashing about every single 30 minutes! Please help!

The iPod crashing when editing a photo is a known bug in iOS 5.1.1.
    For the other problem.
    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

  • Chrome is crashing my display (13", early 2013 rMBP)

    Hi there,
The description says it all really. I bought my macbook second hand a week ago and after installing Chrome it seems to crash the display within an hour of use (if not sooner). When I transfer chrome to full-screen mode horizontal lines start flickering on screen and then the whole screen crashes and turns grey (although moving the mouse brings back horizontal lines and blocks). This has also happened when chrome is running in a background window and I am using finder as the main window. Fortunately I have registered the mac under my name and it has three more months of its original warranty left. I haven't noticed this when using any other apps. I don't really want to settle on using Safari as a browser as there are several chrome extensions I use every day. Before buying the mac I did run a hardware test and it came back with no problems. All other apps are running fine but Chrome seems to bring the system to a flickering halt. I can upload a video of the flickering if you require it
I would be very grateful for any advice you are able to provide,
    Kind regards,
    Dan Hopes

OK, once again it seems to be an oversight on Google's behalf. I installed a clean copy of Chrome with absolutely no add-ons and it still crashed the screen just watching a one minute YouTube video. This didn't happen using Safari or Mozilla (which I have been using for the past few days with no problems).
    BUT
I think I found a solution here (it's been working well for the last hour...[I'll repost here if I encounter any repeats of the problem])
It seems that the external flash program most people install for their Macs conflicts with Chrome's internal flash player. You need to disable one of them within Chrome (I disabled the Chrome one [you can see which is which based on the file path]) and then restarted my computer. SO FAR it seems to be working fine again - much to my relief!
    Follow the instructions here;

  • ThinInstaller with SCCM - Progress pauses at "Displaying License Notice"

I have been using ThinInstaller successfully during my ConfigMgr task sequences for some time now, but after updating UpdateRetriever and ThinInstaller to the most recent versions, and adding some content to my repository, I have the following issue:
The ThinInstaller process seems to hang at a specific step when run during my task sequences. The task sequence kicks off my ThinInstaller package, which installs the ThinInstaller files locally, and then runs a command to point to my driver repository. The specific command run is:
"PathToThinInstaller\ThinInstaller.exe" /CM -search A -action INSTALL -repository "PathToRepository" -noicon -includerebootpackages 1,3,4 -showprogress -noreboot
And it seems like the ThinInstaller application scans the local system and determines which updates are required. However, until I press "F8" (and only F8), there is no GUI displayed (even though I am using the -showprogress command line argument) and no driver packages are downloaded or installed. Looking at the log files on such a machine, I see the progress pause at a specific step. Quick note: It's just a coincidence in the logs below that I hit F8 about an hour after the progress paused:

Based on that snippet, progress paused around 4:15, with the last step being "Displaying License Notice". I let the machine go until about 5:15, then pressed F8 (to launch a debug command prompt window in the ConfigMgr task sequence) and immediately after pressing F8, the ThinInstaller UI appears and ThinInstaller progress resumes with the "Settings -ShowProgress Install Progress screen" log entry. When I press F8, there is no license prompt displayed or anything requiring user interaction - it just suddenly starts running again, and will eventually run to successful completion. I can confirm that the ThinInstaller.exe.configuration XML file on the workstations I'm building is still in the default configuration, with DISPLAYLICENSENOTICE = NO and IGNORELOCALLICENSE=YES.
The curious thing is that I can run this exact package manually, using the exact same script that is called by the ConfigMgr task sequence, and it runs to completion, no issues, no license prompts, no need for user intervention, nothing. I did not make any changes to the command lines being used by my scripts - only changed the versions of UpdateRetriever and ThinInstaller. And technically, my task sequences still work, it's just very annoying to have to watch for this step in the process and press F8 to keep it from sitting and doing nothing.
Has anyone else seen anything like this after an upgrade to new UpdateRetriever/ThinInstaller versions?

Unfortunately, these page numbers do not correspond to anything in the v.4 TVSU deployment guide.  I've re-read all of the applicable areas in the guide, but still cannot get past one thing.  The guide does NOT seem to give a way to avoid ALL license messages.
Due to the fact that TVSU does not load the registry parameters on first startup, I've resorted to a method given by several others on the internet that involves (using a script launched via SCCM) (script shown below) starting TVSU, using TASKKILL to kill the process, and then making registry changes to set parameters.  I then run a second step that launches TVSU again via command line which should do the 2nd launch of TVSU without having any popups.  HOWEVER, I still get one license popup.  It seems you do not get credit for the first launch when you kill the process without agreeing to the license.
    Here is the code:
    First step script:
    cmd /c "C:\program files (x86)\Lenovo\System Update\tvsu.exe"
    cmd /c TASKKILL /F /IM tvsukernel.exe
    REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\System Update\Preferences\UserSettings\General" /v ExtrasTab /t REG_SZ /d NO /f
    REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\System Update\Preferences\UserSettings\General" /v IgnoreLocalLicense /t REG_SZ /d YES /f
    REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\System Update\Preferences\UserSettings\General" /v DisplayLicenseNotice /t REG_SZ /d NO /f
    REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Lenovo\System Update\Preferences\UserSettings\General" /v DisplayLicenseNoticeSU /t REG_SZ /d NO /f
    Second step command line:
    cmd.exe /c tvsu.exe /CM -search A -action INSTALL -repository \\server\share -includerebootpackages 1,3,4 -noreboot -noicon
When I check the tvsu_log, I see that when the license dialog pops up, the log file reads, "Message: Display pick list license notice? YES"
This is the license notice I need to get past.  Is there any way to suppress this license notice, given that I've already made the registry changes detailed above?
