Acrobat Customizable Parameters

Hi All,
Are there any "Customizable Parameters" available for adobe pdf?
Like:
1) Can the search results window text be made bigger (atleast twice the size)?
2) Can the registry settings help in making the pdf reader tool bar buttons bigger in size so that a old person can recognize better ???
Please let me know,
Thanks a lot,

Here are the available parameters http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open_parameters.pdf
I don't think there is what you want.

  • Wildcard in Customization Parameters

What is the practice for using wildcards in customization parameters? Do you hande this in the SQL?
    where (A.emp_id = :emp_id or :emp_id = '%')
Also, I would like to make some paramaters in the customization form mandatory as well. Is this possible?

    Hi,
You can use wild card chars liek "%". To can make parameters mandatory in wizard based reports. You check the value required
    checkbox beside the bind variable.
    Thanks,

  • How can I disable all online functionality within FormsCentral using Adobe Acrobat Customization?

I would like to either install FormsCentral and have all online functionality disabled, or install FormsCentral but have it disabled until a users requests it (an admin could come and enable it through Options).  When I disable all online services from within Adobe Customization Wizard XI it does not remove the online functionality within FormsCentral.
    Thanks for the help!

You are correct in that it's not functioning, however I do not have that option under the "online and adobe online" section in Adobe Customization Wizard XI.  I have the following boxes that can be checked:
"Disable initiating shared reviews and data collection via distributed forms using Adobe online services (does not affect non Adobe online services reviews and forms).
"Disable the Tools pane in Reader"
"Disable file storage on Adobe online services"
"Enable file storage even when all other services are disabled"

  • Acrobat Customization Wizard removing previous versions

I would like to configure the Acrobat install to remove all previous version of Acrobat and Reader unless Reader is the latest version. Reader X is already installed on most computers and I would like Reader to stay as the default. How does the installer decide what is the default?

According to the Wizard doc, you can remove all Acrobat and/or Reader versions, but not "all but. . . "
There are some properties that relate to default PDF viewer control described in the admin guide: http://www.adobe.com/go/acrobatitinfo

  • Disable online services/features in Acrobat Reader DC?

With the new update being released from Reader to Acrobat Reader DC, I have concerns with the use of cloud storage and storing sensitive data.
I have looked around and the only information I have found for disabling these new features are in reference to groups who use the Acrobat Customization Wizard DC, which means they would be running an Enterprise version.
I have installed and tested the new Acrobat Reader DC on both Windows and OS X, there are no obvious options for disabling the services that I am referring to.
    Services I am referencing:
    Adobe cloud storage service
    Sending and tracking documents
Syncing across multiple devices (by use of cloud storage)
Is there a way to disable the use of these services on an individual (non Enterprise) install of Acrobat Reader DC?
    Thanks in advanced!

You can use the Adobe Customization Wizard DC on both Reader DC (Classic or Perpetual) versions.
    Adobe Customization Wizard
You can also use the Windows Registry to turn these services OFF.

  • Group Policy Deployment Acrobat Standard XI Version 11

I was able to successfully create a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Group Policy that would be able to distribute the Adobe Reader Application using the Adobe Customization Wizard XI. I tried to use the same procedure from the Adobe Acrobat Standard 11 download from the adobe licensing site and was unable to get the Group Policy to work. The error message that I am getting is...
The install of application Adobe Acrobat XI Standard 11.0 from policy  Deploy Adobe Acrobat 11 failed. The error was : %%1603
This is the procedure that I created for deployment of Adobe Acrobat XI using Group Policy.
How to create a group policy deployment of Adobe Acrobat XI
    Overview:
This procedure covers the steps needed to create a group policy that will deploy the Adobe Acrobat installation.
    Requirements
    •    Windows 2008 Group Policy
    •    Adobe Acrobat Customization Wizard
         o    ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/11.x/11.0.00/misc/CustWiz11000_en_US.exe
    •    Adobe Acrobat XI (Version 11)
         o    download from adobe account
    Procedure:
    1.    Download the Adobe Acrobat XI package.
    2.    Extract the contents of the Adobe Acrobat XI package.
    a.    Type msiexec.exe /a AcroStan.msi
    b.    Click Next
    c.    Put in the Network Location Share where everyone can extract the installation.
    d.    Click Install
    e.    The package will then extract to the network location as indicated above.
    f.    Click Finish, once the installation has completed.
    g.    Open the Adobe Customization XI Wizard, and customize the package by selecting the AcroStan.msi file.
    h.    Customize the AcroStan.MSI installation file
    i.    Default viewer of PDF files: Make Acrobat the Default PDF Viewer
ii.    Remove previous versions of Acrobat
    iii.    Run Installation: Silently
iv.    If reboot is required at the end of installation: Suppress reboot
    i.    Shortcuts: Remove the desktop Shortcut
    j.    Online and Adobe Services: Disable Product Improvement Program: checked.
    k.   Generate Transform File
    i.    Click Transform > Generate Transform File
ii.   Create an Setup.Ini file in the folder of the Distribution Package.
iii.  Name the Transform File something useful like “CompanyConfigs”.
    3.    Create a Group Policy to deploy the software package. It is usually best to have a group policy for each software installation package.
    a.    Update the Domain Default Policy with Always install with elevated privileges. This will allow all software deployment packages to install.
    i.    Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Installer > Always install with elevated privileges : Enabled.
    b.  Create a Group Policy to enable Windows 7 Verbose Mode
    i.    Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > System > Verbose vs normal status messages : Enabled.
    c.    Create a Group Policy for the Software Installation
    i.     Computer Configuration > Policies > Software Settings
ii.    Right click and select New > Package
    iii.   Click the AcroRead.msi
    iv.   Click Advanced
    v.    Click the Modifications Tab and click Add
vi.   Optional: Click the Uninstall this application when it falls out of the scope of management.
Note: This setting can be used to uninstall the application if the group policy ever changes in that the application should be removed.
vii.    The package is now created …
    4.    Test the Client in a Virtual Machine
    a.    Go to a windows client and run “gpupdate /force”.
    b.    The system will then respond that it needs to restart the computer.
    c.    Type Yes, and allow the computer to reboot.
    d.    If Group Policy is not setup to allow for verbose messages in Windows 7 then the user will just see “Please wait…”, if verbose message is enabled the user will see “Installing Adobe Acrobat…”.
Can someone please tell me what I am missing to get the group policy deployed? It has the same permissions as the Adobe Reader folder and I have done everything exactly the same, except that Adobe Standard has the license number, and owner information included in the Transform file (.mst).
    Thank you.

Your case isn't unique. We've heard this a lot. While Acrobat has a small, very small percentage of settings available in the ADMX files,
in case you don't know, PolicyPak software has a solution to manipulate, basically, near 100% of the settings in Acrobat Reader and Professional.
You're welcome to check out how it works. These videos are for Acrobat X, but there is also tempaltes in the download for XI.
Here are links to the pages with full how-to videos:

    and
    http://www.policypak.com/products/manage-acrobat-x-pro-and-acrobat-x-standard-using-group- policy.html
You can be up and running in 20 minutes, but note, it's NOT a template.. PolicyPak is full application management and lockdown system.

Since there were no answers, I will take a stab at a reponse. For the 2nd method, I suspect you could simply select the print or press job options to get the desired results or turn off "use local fonts" in Acrobat. If you check the font list, the fonts are probably not embedded and that is likely the problem.
I noticed that you have both Reader and Acrobat installed and that might cause some conflict, but should not be the issue here. If you were to uninstall Reader, you would have to repair Acrobat. The conflict here is that you might have problems with the one opening when you want the other. If it works for you, then don't worry about it.
For technique 1, I suspect you may be using IE 9 that has apparently been a problem since it came out. I have refused to install it. However, it may simply be that PDF Maker does not work correctly with your browser, or got deactivated and needs to be allowed to run in your browser (IE I am assuming).

  • Adobe Acrobat X Unattended Install not working

I created and Windows bundle to install Acrobat X via a custom msi and I removed the "qn" switch. I used the Acrobat customizer to customize the install, to include unattended install but show progress bar and prompt for reboot. If I run the file on a PC locally it works fine, but the bundle makes the user go through the dialog boxes with all the correct settings already in place. With the /qn it works. I want the users to see the progress. Yes, they're too dumb and/or lazy to use the Zenworks icon to check the progress.

    Change /qn to /qb+

  • Acrobat Reader DC - auto defaults to .PDF viewer

I work in an enterprise environment that supports around 1200 computers.  I have about 80 users that have various versions of Adobe Acrobat Pro installed on their office computers.
When we upgraded our reader product to DC and deployed it, all of the computers with Acrobat Pro installed had their default viewer changed from Acrobat Pro to Reader DC.  I have not had this issue with other previous versions of Adobe Reader.
I have the Adobe Customization Tool set to "Installer will decide which product will be the default."
It is my understanding that with this selection, the installer will set the default .PDF viewer to the most secure version. (of course this is going to be the new Reader DC program)
I have already found a registry change that removed the welcome screen.  Are there any other fixes, flag, switches that I can take advantage of to have the installer not change the users default viewer?
I have a lot  of users that work only with Acrobat Pro and get a bit upset when their default viewer changes.  Our technicians have to remote into the individual computers and switch the default viewer manually.  If we had to do this each time Adobe releases an update, it would not be a sufficient use of resources.  I would like more control over this.  What are my options?

    Hi,
You can use the LEAVE_PDFOWNERSHIP property as described here (Installation options — Acrobat Customization Wizard DC for Windows).

  • Deploy Acrobat Pro 9 with updates

    Hello,
I manage the system imaging and software deployment for a company with over 100 macs. I have written shell scripts that install the CS4 suite on a machine after it has been reimaged. The script then installs the updates for all the CS4 products except Acrobat Pro 9. That part works fine. The challenge I have now is that Acrobat Pro 9 has 400mb+ of updates and I can't script the installation of them. I don't want my helpdesk staff to manually go through the process of downloading and installing the updates on every machine that needs to be reimaged.
Before updates can be applied, the Acrobat Pro 9 has to be licensed. Doing that includes launching one of the other CS4 apps (e.g. Photoshop) first, then launching Acrobat Pro 9, clicking ok on various dialog boxes and then "accept" on the EULA. Once all that is done, I can script the installation of the updates (although, not as easily as the other CS4 apps).
In the windows world, there is an Acrobat customization tool that allows you to deploy the Acrobat without needing to accept the EULA. I haven't been able to find anything like that for the Mac.
Does anyone know how to get around this problem?
    Thank you for your help,
    Kevin

thanks for the push to getting a cache cleaner -- tried and will see if it keeps the problem in hand.

  • Multi Language Portlet Customization

    Hello ..
Can any one tell me, if we can provide a multilanguage customization using the JPDK, meaning if user1 clicks the Customize link, change the portlet title from "Title" to "Title1" then press Ok, the Portlet title is changed to Title1.
Now If he switched his language to ar -By using Set Language Portlet, and changed the Title to Title2 in arabic language for example, the Portlet title is changed to Title2 -in arabic. But if he comes back to the english language, the Portlet Title return to be Title1. In My opinion for this to happen, we need to save the user customizations in two different files for example: username.dat, username_ar.dat under the same preference path. Every Time Portal renderes the Customize page, it is rendered according to the current user language, and the values of the customization parameters also appears either in eng or arabic according to the current language. Can we do that using JPDK? How can we make profit of the method PortletReference.translateDefaultCustomizations?
    Please Advice
    Amr

Hoan - is your question what are the considerations when creating multiligual catalogs? If so, I can tell you that at other clients I have seen them use a single catalog for one or two languages. For the two langugages, such as Spanish/English, you can create a single catalog with both of them. Once you get to more than two languages, the catalog would get unweildy and is therefore not suggested.

  • Acrobat X with CS6 Suites

Ok I understand that Acrobat X is not supported directly with the AAMEE tool.
All the documentation states that you can use the Acrobat customization tool if needed, just so long as you don't serialize with it (makes sense, it should use the CS Suite serial and licensing).  Though they also mention to use the same serial as the CS suite in some docs.
My question is can I use the same package+commandline for Adobe Acrobat X, that AAMEE produced when I built a package for say Design Standard Suite, with the other CS suites?
From what I understand, Acrobat X does not have a serial on its own (I also don't see the CS suite serial in any of the XMLs or msi code).  Once it installs (or first run after CS install) it find the suite code and activates itself.
If my assumption is correct, in theory it would use what-ever serial code the installed CS suite used... and that I could use the same acrobat install for ALL the CS suites, rather then build a acrobat x install for each suite indivitually...
    Thoughts?

Thanks for the input on that Dandirkmn.  We may look at changing the prominence.  So far most of the posts in the Creative Suite Enterprise Deployment forum though have been very much on topic.  But increasing the capability of discovery might be useful if I see a high number related posts in the Download, Installation, and Setting up Forum.

  • CS6 serial doesn't work to launch Acrobat X Pro

Only Acrobat X Pro was installed on my window desktop until I bought the CS6 last month. Before installing CS6 on my window with new serial number, I uninstalled the original Acrobat X Pro and use the original serial number to install in two other machines. When I tired to launch Acrobat X Pro, it showed a message that my old serial number has been used by maximum allowed computers. I tried to reactivate with my new serial number, but it did not work. While other products of CS6 is working, I reinstalled the Acrobat X Pro with the new serial number. However, the same error message appeared. Has anyone else experienced this? I could not find good solution online. Thanks!

    Hi
A CS6 serial number will NOT work with the Acrobat Customization Wizard. You were misinformed by Adobe support (If you can PM me a case number, I can ensure that this training need gets addressed with the agent/team in question). Only Acrobat serial numbers will be accepted by the Customization Wizard.
The usual way to use a CS6 serial number in conjunction with an Acrobat deployment is to package your CS6 suite using AAMEE 3.0, deploy Acrobat (as so-called Execeptions payload) using the commands documented in the AAMEE deployment guide, followed by a deployment of the Suite package.
This process is documented in the Enterprise Deployment Guide (linked here from the forums, and available at http://www.adobe.com/devnet/creativesuite/enterprisedeployment.html).

  • CS6 serial doesn't work to install Acrobat X Pro.

I've created a deployment of Acrobat X Pro with the Adobe Customization Wizard X.  This is because AAMEE doesn't support Acrobat.  Adobe support tells me I need to use my CS6 serial but no matter what I try my CS6 key won't work.  A dedicated, standalone key for Acrobat X Pro works, but not my CS6 key.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Adobe phone support was no help.  Thanks!

I plan to create a package, customize using the Acrobat Customization Wizard, and deploy it using our normal software deployment workflow.
This means that our CC Packages (that will not include Acrobat) could be installed before or after this Acrobat install, correct?

    Hi,
Usually I separate page layout and publishing page into two different modules. Then you deploy first the page layout module to ensure that SP will create the aspx file. After that the second module lets SP to apply the existing page layout to your publishing
    page.
It's just an idea. I am not 100% sure. Let me know.
