Acrobat DC breaks InDesign CS6 PDF export?

With Acrobat DC installed it seems as if I can no longer export a PDF out of InDesign CS6. The export function under the menu is greyed out. It works fine with InDesign CC 2014 but not with CS6. I still have customers that require me to use CS6. Anybody else have this issue?

They SHOULD not be connected. InDesogn export doesn't use Acrobat, and doesn't need it.  I suspect a different problem. I don't know what but I have seen mentions of it in the InDesign forum.

  • InDesign CS6 PDF export problem

I have tried to export to print-ready PDF a fairly straightforward A4 advet.  There's nothing complicated or unusual about the file - its based on ones we've successfully done previously.
However, this one give me a 'FAiled to Export the PDF file' error - but nothing more.  I have tried restarting the Mac but to no avail.
    Any ideas?

What Mac? What PDF settings? What fonts, paragraph styles, linked files, other fancies? You will have to provide a lot more info. in any case, ask in the ID forum...

  • Acrobat DC upgrade breaks CS6 PDF export?

Installed Acrobat DC and now my CS6 PDF export function is greyed out. Happens with old and new files. CC 2014 works fine. CS6 has been working fine yesterday up until the point I installed Acrobat DC. Anyone else have this issue? I still have clients who insist on CS6 so this is sort of a pain.
Working on a new Mac Pro.
I asked this over on the Acrobat forum but they said the two issues should not be involved.

There's nothing that an Acrobat installation could do that would affect InDesign functions.
@Steve – I have seen one case where a not finished (stuck) installation process of Acrobat Pro CS6 on Windows removed all default PDF export joboptions files for InDesign CS6 as well. However, something more drastic like a grayed out export function in InDesign CS6 seems not to be realistic.
I'm glad it was false alarm.

  • InDesign CS6 ePub Export : Tables with header and footer in HTML

    Hey there,
does anyone know, whether InDesign CS6 also exports Table Headers and footers correctly into the XHTML-File of the ePub.
What I mean, is whether the elements <thead> and <tfoot> are created?
Or is it only possible to steer this via the CSS-Classnames which can be given in the tableformats?
Generally I think it would be better if the user had the chance to map other exporttags to its elements than just p, em, strong, h1-h6.
it would be useful to also put in other elements by hand.
    Best regrads.

By "also", do you mean the behavior is changed with respect to CS5/CS5.5? In those, thead and tfoot are created correctly. (Although, quite disconcerting, in the order "thead / tfoot / tbody". ePub renderers based on Webkit display them correctly nevertheless, but others do not. An extremely annoying free interpretation of the W3C rules.)

An easy example to prove this bug of Indesing CS6:  I create a psd with Photoshop CS6, with width 505 pixels, height 317 pixels and a resolution of 300 pixels per inch. This psd is placed on a page in InDesign CS6. Then I try to export it as a tiff with the functions:
    fSnapshotUtilsEx->Draw(flags,fullResolutionGraphics,greekBelowPtSize,enableAntiAliasing,tr ansparencyQuality,abortCheck,pVPAttrMap,bDrawNonPrintingObjects);
    and
    SnapshotUtilsEx-> ExportImageToTIFF (iStream)
The resulting tiff has a width of 506 pixels (one pixel more in width). It will happen the same if we start with a width of 507 pixels, etc.
This error does not occur with Indesign CS5, nor Indesing CC.

  • Indesign CS6 epub export bug

I am using Indesign CS6 to export a book to epub. Having problems with automatic numbers and bullets as well as spacing issues; however, I've made some adjustments and am getting a pretty decent epub. Here's the issue: When I convert my epub to Mobi using Calibre, I get double bullets and double numbers in my lists. I used this same process to create a Mobi file a few months ago in Indesign 5.5 with no problem. So I took one of my CS6 files, exported it to IDML, opened it in CS5.5 and exported to ePub. I then took that epub and converted it to Mobi using Calibre. No double bullets or numbers. So the issue is coming from Indesign CS6.
Anyone else had this issue. Any other ideas on how to get a clean Mobi file from CS6?

    Thanks a million.

    lotuscott,
You should get the 8.0.1 update for InDesign CS6. It fixes several EPUB bugs including the "space before" problem and the "epub-ruby" (which is I believed intended for Japanese language.

  • Mac Acrobat X Pro hangs after InDesign CS6 form export but opens in Preview

    Anyone else having this issue?

I guess no one can understand this... I just had the worst tech support "chat" form Adobe I have ever had... theu guy started steering me to make an EPS file to distill. That won't help for interactive. I can export to PRINT PDFs. I can export to INTERACTIVE PDFs. Today, for the first time I had to make a form in InDesign CS6 using the new form tools. I can export the file but Acrobat X Pro hangs trying to open it. I just mentioned Preview to say that I CAN open the file in Preview. I'm just trying to eliminate things. I KNOW Preview is not the right tool...

  • InDesign CS5 PDF export status

It seems that now with CS5 we no longer receive a pdf export status bar. Export is running in background. When exporting large files, the only way I know it's still working or exporting is the error message when I try and close document... Saying task running in BKG.
In Cs3 and 4 there was a status bar that displayed progress. Is this a preference that can be turned on or off?
Annoying when exporting large files with many pages...
    Any help?

OK, well, here we go. I hope people find it useful -- if so, I'l make an announcement thread so people are more inclined to see it.
You can also download it from here.  See How to Install InDesign Scripts for installation instructions. If you save it in the

  • INDS CS6 - PDF Export at High Quality issues with Gradients.

    Hi all,
We're noticing that on our PDF exports from our INDS instances we're seeing that gradients are showing up when the PDF is printed. You can visibly see the gradient lines. We have our INDS set for 'High Quality Print' and upon viewing the PDF in your browser it looks fine but when you print the PDF you can see the gradient lines.
We've exported the same IDML's directly from InDesign to PDF to Print and the gradients do not show up.
Is there a ExportPDF option we are missing on the InDesign Server that I need to tweak to make these gradients smooth and disappear?

    Marvin,
The TIF file in this example consists of a repeating sequence of adjacent columns in the following configuration: 8 white pixel, 7 black pixels.
This pattern repeats across the width of the file.
I've attached one of these files below. Please try to view it at 4000% when placed in InDesign.
(Please note that this problem also occurs with photographic images as well).
If I then crop the attached file in Photoshop, re-save and place in InDesign it will preview correctly at 4000%.
If I leave it at its original dimensions, but convert to a Gray TIF, it will preview correctly -for a while, but eventually also become "corrupted". As I mentioned in my initial post, I've had to use a Grey TIF to get the placement correct, then replace with the CMYK TIF version. Saving with and without LZW compression makes no difference. The fact that the Grey version works temporarily has got me confused. As it happens, for the moment anyway, a narrow width file in CMYK is previewing okay, but then in the past I've used TIFs just ~100 mm wide and had the same problem.

  • How do I get Adobe InDesign CS6 to export non-pixelated PNGs?

I am having trouble exporting PNGs from Adobe Indesign. The problem is they become very pixelated once they have been exported to PNG. However, when I export to JPEG, there is no pixelation, they look perfect! Has anyone else had this problem?
I need to export them as PNGs because some pages have transparency effects, which JPEG doesn't support.
Is this a bug in Adobe InDesign CS6? Is it a configuration option that I can change?
Below I have provided sample screenshots of the JPEG and PNG files, along with the export settings I used.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

To demonstrate this problem, I've uploaded a sample InDesign project which still exhibits the same PNG export problem:
Click here to download my sample InDesign project.
If anyone is able to generate a non-pixelated PNG from this sample InDesign project, please let me know how you did it.

  • Copying from Acrobat XI to Indesign CS6

Has anyone noticed that when you copy a section of text and paste it into Indesign CS6, Indesign CS6 unexpectedly closes?
It has happened too often to be a co-incidence.
If you paste from Acrobat to Word and then copy and paste that onto Indesign, there is no problem.
I am not sure whether it is an Indesign weakness or an Acrobat weakness.
I am now sure it is a problem with Acrobat XI. I have just done a copy and paste from Acrobat Pro IX and Indesign CS 6 did not crash.
    Anyone had a similar experience?
    James.

    I am on Indesign CS 6 8.1.
Must be something about my system.

  • InDesign CS6.5 Export to .PDF

I have a user who cannot export to a .pdf.  If she is logged in locally, the same file exports fine.  If she's logged into the network, it errors out to, "Failed to export the PDF file"  If she attempts to print to a .PDF, it works fine when logged in locally.  When logged into the network it errors out to, "Printing Error: The Adobe Print Engine has failed to output your data due to an unknown problem".  The user is an Administrator equivalent at both the workstation and network level.  The is a new/clean Windows 7 SP1 machine with a clean default full installation of InDesign.  Changing printers, preferences, profiles does not change the outcome.  Locally it performs fine.  Same file, same user.  Any ideas?

It looks for me like she want to use "Print" option instead of "Export" option, right? Ask her to use only "Export" option (using joboption). I may be mistaken as it is not clear for me what she is actually try to do. Please elaborate more precisely.

  • Indesign CS6 problems; export/save as .pdf

I get big sections of text no longer text but dashed lines as well as funny "missing font" problems of fonts that don't exist/I don't use. Any help would be appreciated, as I have never had this problem before with CS, CS2 or CS4.

EsterStrijbos wrote: I hope they will get these bugs fixed and have an update available soon.
I'll say to you what I always say in response to this statement when no true bug has been established. 99% of the time what users think are bugs turn out, if you spend the time to dig deep enough, to be some sort of software conflict or configuration issue on the user's own machine. There is nothing that an update can or will do to solve these localized issues.
Most true bugs show up here in the forum pretty quickly with dozens, if not hundreds, of complaints, unless they are triggered by something very obscure that most users never do. Export to PDF, Times New Roman, and paragraph rules don't really fit the obscure description, and I don't believe other users will be able to consistently reproduce your problems, let alone the Adobe engineers (and they can't fix waht they can't reliably reproduce).
I don't blame you for going back to a system that works to get your project done, but if you want to progress with using CS6 I think you need to do some more work on your end. Consistently odd behavior, and you're telling us now about more than one oddity, can be casued by damaged preferences, easy to test (see Replace Your Preferences) or a failed or damaged appliction installation. You may find, when you have time, that uninstalling, running the clean tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstalling will help. Running in diagnostic mode, with startup programs and extensions disabled, is also a good way to check for software conflicts you might not suspect.

  • Indesign CS6 - PDF = Fuzzy, Redish Text

    Hello folks,
I am looking for some assistance with printing a PDF I've created from InDesign.  I've scoured these and other fourms, but to no avail.  Here's a copy of the PDF for anyone to analyze: http://www.nhceh.org/GL%20Sponsorship%20Packet.pdf
Here's the problem: I've created a document in InDesign that I'm exporting to PDF and printing to my PCL laserjet Sharp MX-2600N.  In the color management settings, I'm selecting "same as source."  The results are colors that I expect and want - except, I'm getting text that isn't crisp, and has a red fuzzy border/shadow.  However, in the color management settings, if I select "Adobe Acrobat Management" (color profile is Adobe RGB 1998), I get text that is a sharp, rich black, but colors that are much less vibrant.
Some useful tidbits: I'm using CS6 and I've removed all effects from my file.
    Any suggestions, thoughts?
    TIA!

I would have expected somone, more knowledgeable than myself to chime in on this. I attended a 40 minute color management webinar yesterday, that is the full level of my experience with management; I could be incorrect in some of this...
SWOP is a cmyk profile with less gamut than rgb, hence the duller color result.
Adobe RGB (is a wider gamut than  sRGB,) and will produce a fuller spectrum than what was achievable in the cmyk.
In the rgb space, your black text has been converted to a mix of cmyk. Your printer is not capable of perfectly overlapping the inks - analogous to mis-register (printing rick black type) on a traditional press. Hence, the fuzzy edges. Given that it is also red in hue, I would surmise that it is also no calibrated.
Your RIP'd file in Adobe RGB and cmyk. I have turned off the black channel.
