Acrobat DC, OS X, CMD + P

Hi,
OS X 10.10.2
Acrobat DC
Before upgrading to Acrobat DC, I was able to print multiple PDF files by selecting each file in Finder and pressing CMD + P which would bring up the print dialog for the PDF.
With DC, if I follow the exact same procedure, I can print one pdf, then DC freezes, and I have to 'Force Quit' Acrobat, in order to be able to print again.
Result: I have to open the PDF, then click the Print button on the toolbar, then click Print on the Print Dialog. Whole lot more work than pressing CMD + P and hitting Return.
I'm developing the software that my staff use (Ruby/rails for the office and IOS/Android when outbound), and training my staff to use keyboard shortcuts rather than fart arsing around with the mouse all over the screen, I want my staff to be as productive as possible, and tools that help that goal will be quickly integrated into my office - tools that prevent that goal will be discarded twice as fast.
Why is DC freezing when I [CMD + P]    ?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for using Acrobat DC. Sorry to hear that you are facing problem in printing multiple files using CMD+P. We will certainly help you out here.
We have verified the scenario with A11 and Acrobat DC on fresh machine, and observed same behavior in both versions.
Acrobat DC is not crashing/freezing, but instead it’s throwing error message only, on printing multiple documents using CMD+P on the Mac. This is same what mentioned in above comments.Although I will logging bug for this error message which shouldn’t be there.
Also, when do CMD+P on documents sequentially, no freezing is there (which is there as per the user). All documents are getting printed normally.
Please provide exact steps to Reproduce issue, so that Engineering can reproduce it in house. After that only we will be able to address the issue.
Thanks &Regards,
-Anil

  • How can I stop Acrobat from overriding a printer's draft settings and printing in photo quality?

Regardless of which settings I choose for my printer, Acrobat always prints in maximum quality.
The printer works as expected with every other application I have, from Photoshop, Word and Pages, to Preview and Mail. But when I print a PDF via Acrobat or Reader, the printer lays down so much ink that the paper sometimes comes out damp.
If it matters, the printer is an Epson Stylus Photo 1400, and I'm using Acrobat 8.2.6 and Reader 10.0.3 on a Mac Pro running OS 10.6.7.
To reiterate, every other app I use respects the Epson printer dialog settings when it comes to printing in economy mode. I've looked around in Acrobat's print settings and can find absolutely nothing along the lines of "print in draft quality." Am I the only person who doesn't want, or need, to burn up expensive printer cartridges unnecessarily?
This has been a problem since I bought the software, and it behaved the same way with my old printer (an Epson Stylus Photo 800). I don't need to print very many PDFs, but when I do, the printer wastes an enormous amount of ink.
I'm not looking for a workaround, I just want to be able to open a PDF in Acrobat or Reader, hit CMD-P, choose the economy print setting, and have it actually print in low resolution.
Being able to print a draft copy of a PDF seems to be a perfectly reasonable expectation when using software from the very company that developed the PDF standard in the first place.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Understood. I've already checked for driver updates, and am already using the most current version. I really appreciate your trying to help, ... let's hope someone out there has some suggestions, too.
    Cheers,

  • Can't print to PDF from Acrobat XI

I'm having trouble printing to a PDF from Acrobat XI Pro (FYI, I'm using OS X 10.8).
    Here's what's goin on:
I open the file in Acrobat.
I hit Cmd-P and in the "Printer" dropdown list I select "Adobe PDF 7.0".
I click "Print" in the lower right.
The print monitor icon pops up, but nothing happens. (When I click it to view progress, it just sits there and says "Ready to print", but no matter what I do, nothing happens.)
To clarify, as far as I can tell, this is only a problem when I try to print using the "Printer" dropdown menu and is universal across all applications (i.e. Acrobat, Word, Chrome, etc.). When I select "Save as PDF" within any of those applications, there is no problem at all.
You may be asking yourself "Then why don't you just continue to 'Save as PDF' and forget about the 'Printer' option?" The "why" is not important, so I'll save you my reasoning as it has no bearing on fixing this problem. I'll just say that I have a somewhat frequent need to do it in this particular manner and need to have that option available to me. No offense intended, I simply want to solve to problem without running off on an unimportant tangent.
I'm sure you'll have other questions about my system and what I'm doing/have done, so please ask away.
    Thanks so much

I've had the same issue on 10.7 (and, I believe 10.6). Although this point may also be contributing to the problem, I don't suspect that it is the only demon at at work here. However, if you are referring to all versions of OS X that would make some sense since the only print drivers I could find on Adobe's downloads section didn't show support for anything newer than OS 9.2.2
As to your suggestion, I'm not sure I follow what you mean. Here is a screen cap of the dialogue box I'm presented in Acrobat XI. Can you please point out the "PDF Button" you're talking about?
After reading your comment again, am I correct in assuming that you are suggesting I essentially save the document as a PDF, as is usually present in the print dialogue box for other applications? If that is what you are suggesting, I already explained that that is not an option and doesn't solve the problem.
    Thanks

  • Separate Instance of acrobat on opening a pdf document

    hi guys,
is there any option in sdk to set a separate instance of acrobat ?
the reason for that, is I got a global variable for using or not my plugin , but when i reopen another "acrobat.exe" document (outside my acrobat instance), the new instance share my global variable
I tried "acrobat.exe /n" from cmd! it's work fine, but i don't want users get involved in that command !!!
    : VC++, SDK 8

You may just want to make your plug-in behave in a way that allows
document specific processing, rather than processing all documents
    unconditionally.
To have a "per document" on/off switch you could keep a list of AVDoc
or PDDocs together with a switch for each one.

  • Automate Saving Process to two PDFs

I am trying to figure out a way to make expedite saving a file into two separate PDFs with separate settings.
    One needs to be
CMYK, All layers flattened, All blacks to 100 black (Adjustments, Selective Color, Black), saved to a PDF with no compression and no color conversion.
Another needs to be RGB and normally when I open this PDF into Acrobat I can press CMD + D and set the magnification to "Actual Size" and then Save as Optimized so it shrinks down the file size so its easy for someone to open it up in an email on their phone or what have you.
Using Actions I can do the flattening, the black conversion, and the saving of two separate PDFs but I can't get it so the PDF will open up to the actual size on screen (or a smaller one instead of blown up super huge) and get it to a decent file size.
I was thinking scripts but I'm not entirely sure how to use them properly - extend script to do all of that ^ and the launch acrobat and make changes there.
Not sure what I could do about this but I'm just looking to cut a few corners and make this process easier since I have to do this with every file I manage.

For one - to ensure that the CMYK file is both flattened and had it's blacks converted to 100% black in the event I'd missed something (I wanted this step to be automated so it was something I couldn't forget since I do dozens of files every other hour)
And secondly, for the RGB file, I would like a way to automate Opening that File in Acrobat, pressing CMD + D, and switching the magnification to "Actual Size" so that when the client opens it the file is closer to the actual size and/or not blown up so huge they think "Oh, look at all the room I have to cram more info into" ... happens all the time. If I do this "Actual Size" step, then they are less likely to do that. And last, in acrobat, I can save and Optimized version that downgrade it just enough to be easily sendable/openable via email on cell phones.
I do all this by hand now and really it only takes me a minute. But I would just like to have it automated so I don't have to and so I don't forget anything that might cause printing errors.
So far - I haven't been able to recreate what I need to be done to the RGB file in Photoshop Presets. I can downgrade the quality but not the opening size in Acrobat.

  • How do you save a multiple page pdf document?

I have about 30 single illustrator pages (cs3) and need to save them as one pdf document, with multiple pages if possible. please can someone talk me thru this, all the stages please.
    thanks

What I usually do is this: Make pdfs of your files. Open the first one in Acrobat and then Insert (Cmd-Shift-I) the other files one by one After the first one. Then resave under another name. Now you've got a multiple page pdf.
The other way is to page-tile an Illy file, print to eps and then use Distiller. The result will be a multi-page pdf with each tile as a separate page.
I recommend the first method though - it allows you to have different page sizes within a single pdf (if that's what you want). If you want all pages to be of the same size you just use the same artboard size on all Illy files.

  • Deploying only Acrobat XI Pro CC package w/ Enterprise Serial # - Still getting "Sign In Required"

Downloaded Creative Cloud Packager to create a serialized package of only Acrobat XI Pro.  I further customize the deployment via Adobe Customization Wizard XI, but did not re-enter the serial number (as suggested).  I am able to deploy from the Exceptions folder with the following cmd, msiexec /i "%inst%AcroPro.msi" PATCH="%inst%Updates\AcrobatUpd11006.msp" TRANSFORMS="%inst%Transforms\en_US.mst" /qn.  Upon launching Acrobat, I receive the a pop-up message, "Sign In Required.  Siging in with an Adobe ID and registering Creative Cloud Membership Enterprise is required within 32767 days otherwise it will stop working."  I don't understand why the serial number and Adobe ID I enterred when packaging did not carry over.  Any insight would be appreciated.

  • How to Print a PDF file and Close the ACrobat Reader opened using WEBUTIL

    Hi All,
I have used WEBUTIL successfully and printed files using webutil_host.nonblocking builtin. What happens is that after printing the file the Acrobat reader stays on the desktop of the client PC. How to close that file opened programmatically. I am unable to close it using any any commands or using following builtins from WEBUTIL.
      WEBUTIL_HOST.RELEASE_PROCESS(PROCESS_ID)
WEBUTIL_HOST.TERMINATE_PROCESS(PROCESS_ID);My command to directly call the Acrobat reader file and print it is by using this command.
      M_STR_COMMAND    := 'cmd.exe /c start AcroRd32.exe /t '||CHR(34)||FILE_STR_PATH||'\'||FILE_NAME||CHR(34)||' '||CHR(34)||PRINTER_NAME||CHR(34);Help in this regard is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

I think if you use the start-command, the execution is asynchronously and you won't get the correct process-id. Try to execute Acorbat directly without the cmd /c start in front of it.

  • Slow Performance CS 55, Indesign, Acrobat

    Hello,
ever since upgrading from CS 50 to CS55 the whole suite is incredibly slow, especially Acrobat and Indesign. Phonesupport is unable to figure it out and points out that increased quality in display reduces overall performance "a little". CS 5.0 had no such problems and the computer is not a small one as well: Mac Pro 12 Core, 32 GB Ram, 512 GB SSD Primary, ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB with 3x Cinema 30".
I know tripple head configs are tricky but that can not be the problem in this case, or?
    *ANY* help appreciated!
    Marc

    John,
i think both applications share a big part: the displaying engine. i have set up a basic test: opening 5 PDFs (select all in finden, cmd+Enter > Acrobat opens 5 PDFs sequentially) and pressing CMD+Q some seconds after (This will shut down acrobat, closing all opened PDFs right after opening has completed). On my machine this takes 33 seconds with this pdf: http://www.baumarkt-ahrensburg.de/fileadmin/pdf/tipps/Bade-_und_Duschwanne_einbauen.pdf; which is about 29 seconds too long for my taste.
I have not installed any third party software in Acrobat, but was unable to test it with CS50, because a downgrade is not possible without fully de-/installing the whole suite.
I have tested repairing permissions, adding a new admin user, macCleaner, Safe-Reboot (yields even slower performance) with no success.
Opening this PDF and 4 copies (5 in total) with Acrobat Reader X within Parallels on the same machine results in total open/close time of 8sec. Which would be acceptable as well; but only on my mac not within emulation
Additionally i do not have any antivirussoftware nor other background software running...
    Any further ideas?
    Marc

  • Acrobat Standard 8.17 AIP not running in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

    Hello,
I am trying to run an AIP that I created for Acrobat 8.0 (updated to 8.17) on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I created the AIP and then ran it on Win7RC (32-bit) and it installed fine. I have also tried this same AIP on Windows XP Pro (32-bit) and it works there.
When I try to run the same AIP on W7P x64, I get a flash of the command window and then a flash of the Adobe "Preparing to install" window and then both windows close and the installation terminates. Have tried it from the 32-bit command prompt (%windir%\SysWoW64\cmd.exe) but same failure.
Have moved the AIP package to the root of C: and run it - same failure.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the AIP to work in 64-bit?
    Thanks.

Hello - I have been able to get the AIP installed.
Turns out that the installation was hanging because a previous version of Acrobat was already installed. On other machines with Acrobat, I would get a window stating that I had to remove the old software but on W7 x64, the installation simply failed. After removing the old version and trying again, the new installation succeeded.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

  • EPS to PDF: Smooth Shades, Bug in Acrobat?

    Hello!
I encountered a really weird feature/bug in Acrobat.
I have a very simple EPS file which draws 2 x 5 = 10 adjacing black squares. (EPS file below and attached)
When I drag it into Acrobat 8.1.5 and save it as PDF, and then try to open this PDF in Illustrator, Illustrator says: [German] "Eine unbekannte Schattierungsart wurde gefunden." which might be in [English]: "An unknown shading type was found."
And then the big regtangle (which was the 10 squares before) cannot be edited in Illustrator because this object is [German] "Grafik aus Drittprogramm" which might be in [English]: "Graphics from third party software".
The fact that Acrobat makes a large rectangle out of the 10 squares, is not very uncommon. But why does Acrobat not leave the color black but changes it into a smooth shade (which runs from black to black)???
(I know that I can disable the smooth shade feature in Acrobat. But still: there is a bug in Acrobat that reconizes an object with one unique color as a smooth shade!)

  • In Acrobat Professional 8, what is the best way to insert/combine multiple pdf's together in a large

In Acrobat Professional 8, what is the best way to insert/combine multiple pdf's together in a large volume?
We have 300 pdf reports and need to insert a 2 page cover page infront of each report. Not sure if Batch processing is best???
    Thanks for any tips.

Probably each cover page is different too. I would probably just bite the bullet and do each individually. I would create the 2 cover pages in WORD or other word processor and print to cover.pdf. Then open a PDF and Pages>Insert Pages or the cover.pdf to the front of the open PDF and save as to the current PDF. Then repeat 299 times. Each time you would make the appropriate change to the DOC file and print a new cover.pdf file (you might want to turn off open in Acrobat for this processing in the printer properties to save time). Probably a good idea to keep a list of the files to check off what has been done (you can generate a list in DOS by Start>cmd, change the directory to your location [cd path], and do "dir >>list.txt". That will give you a list to use.). There may be an easier way, but by the time you get it figured out you might be done this way.
