Acrobat DC scanner only ICA interface no TWAIN?

Hello,
After upgrading to Acrobat DC I can no longer access TWAIN drivers for two of my scanners: Canon MX920 series, CanoScan LiDe 500F. I am on Mac OS X 10.9 machine.
They were working fine with Acrobat XI. The only scanner driver available is Canon MX920 series (ICA) but this one doesn't have all the features of the TWAIN driver. (Canon's Scanning Utility works, so the TWAIN drivers seem to be fine).
Any ideas how to fix this, short of downgrading?

Upgraded to Windows 10 now scanner only sees camera for Twain input

With the upgrade to windows 10 i found that there was a new firmware update for my M1217nfw which I downloaded and installed. I also ran the "docter" software and it found no problems. Acrobat 11 Epson GT-S50(ICA) Interface Problems with Yosemite

After updating the ICA scanning software for Yosemite 10.10.2 I was finally able to get Acrobat 11.0.10 to scan using my Epson GT-S50 scanner. However there is a strange problem with the user interface. When I select scan the following appears.
as you can see, all controls except "image correction" are missing from the right side. The only way to get them to reappear is to change "none" to "manual" image correction as shown in the next image.
Now, if I proceed with the interface as shown all sheets are scanned but the session will always be aborted after the last sheet.
I am able to get the process going but only if, after choosing "manual" to get the controls to refresh, I subsequently set "Image Correction" back to "none". This procedure must be repeated every time I use the ICA interface. It works but I can never use the Image Correction features. This last image is what the interface should look like from the get-go.
Again, if "Image Correction" is set to manual the scan is aborted at the end.

After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode

After installing Acrobat 8, can only open Word in safe mode. If I delete my customized Normal.dot, then all is well. However I want the macros available from the customized Normal.dot. I tried switching Templates after opening Word and it immediately triggers an error message: "Word has encountered a problem and needs to close." It then recovers all my recent documents even though they were fine, had no need to be saved. Thinking that Normal.dot had been corrupted, I went back to the original M$ Normal.dot and re-created my macros and saved as a new Normal.dot. The next time I open Word, I get the error message.
I have a template with only one macro. It does not cause this problem. The template I prefer has 3 macros and I will need to create more.

I am told by my company's IT folks that the problem resides with Office 2003 sp3. If you remove SP3 and revert to SP2, the issue vanishes, so they say (I have not done it yet).
M$ is possibly ignoring the issue permanently, since they are on a new initiative to unseat PDF in favor of their own document format they're working on presently. I've sent a million error reports to them and....NOTHING.

Samsung SCX-4521f scanner only occasionally found under Mac OS X 10.6.5

I have a Samsung SCX-4521f Printer/scanner combination (detail here: http://samsung.de/de/Privatkunden/Buero/DruckerMFP/LaserMFP/SCX-4521F/SCX-4521FR XEG/detail.aspx?atab=features).
Since 10.6.5 the scanner only shows up occasionally under "Digital Images" or "Digitale Bilder" as the solftware is called in the german OS X localization. I can't figure a pattern but sometimes I have to fuddle with it for about 30 Minutes to get this thing to show up. Then it works for a while and the next day it's gone again. Printer is fine but the scanner often just doesn't appear at all.
Any other experiences with this printer? Is this only my machine or a general issue with OS X 10.6.5?

That's what I thought. So now at least we know, it's not a hardware defect but a common issue caused by outdated software. Teorema, did you talk to Samsung about this? What did they respond?
I called them and they say they are not going to provide new drivers, since Apple "broke" the working drivers with constantly changing the printing apis in Mac OS X.
I, of course, see this differently. Since I payed for their hardware - printer manufacturers are in the tight spot to do the move and update their old drivers. It can't be that hard. But it's just what they want: they want the customer to throw away their old printer and buy a new one. That's how economy works nowadays - trashing perfectly functional things and replacing them with new (sometimes even worse) products. But looking at this globally I can't agree and am not willing to take this from Samsung / HP or any other printer manufacturer.
So I'd love to hear what Samsung is telling you, when you call them, Tearema.

Acrobat 9: Read-only errror on second save

I can save a file for the first time in using Adobe Acrobat 9 without any problem. If I then re-open the same file, make a change and try to save it again, I receive the error message the file is read-only or in use by another program. This occurs every time. This is a new problem after one of the automatic updates from Adobe. I have checked the properties of the files and the read-only box is not checked. I have checked security and have full control read, write, modify etc. Is there something in Acrobat 9 or in Vista that can be set or changed to correct this problem? OS: Windows Vista Service pack 2, build 6.0.602; Acrobat Std, Ver. 9.3.2

I was having similar issue on one workstation. I could open and edit other types of docs (word, excel, etc) and could change the names of pdf documents but when saving the pdf after making any changes it would act like it was open by another user and would prompt for saving under different name. Also, could open and edit a document on one workstation and go back to problem one and it couldn't. Both workstations are Windows 7 and were using acrobat v8.1.3
Updated both to 8.1.4 and the issue went away. Couldn't any reference to this problem in the patch notes however.

Need help with Acrobat 11.0.9: odd interface and unresponsive on some computers

We've been using Adobe Acrobat Pro for a few years now and have globally been very happy with it. Recently the quality of the product seems to have increased especially on the Mac computers.
However we're having issues with the 11.0.9 update that just happened recently:
1) On some Windows computers the interface on the right is much larger than it should and a new tab called 'Fill and sign' has been introduced. We worried it was an malware until we read the release notes. Is this really normal? The interface is odd and very large. Is there a way we can remove it?
2) Also once the new module for recent files is turned ON, we experience Acrobat 11.0.9 is frozen for few seconds and on Mac laptops we've noticed that energy consumption is back while there was good improvement for the last few releases. We have mobile attorneys who use Acrobat extensively on Mac laptops and battery life is important for them. They can just turn the functionality OFF fortunately, but then the new mobile is useless and we like the normal behavior better.

We have about 30 computers with Acrobat Pro on them, both Mac and Windows and about a third of them have at least one of these problems.

Yes, it's normal. You can close it or disable it entirely.
You should be able to disable it via the following entry in a administrator created "com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist" file in the FeatureLockdown section. The file is placed in the /Library/Preferences directory and should apply to all users.

Acrobat X Pro Only Prints First Page

I have several multipage PDFs that I am trying to print to my HP LaserJet 5si MX. I am on OS X 10.6.5 with all the latest updates applied. When printing, only the first page prints and then the printer queue clears as though the whole document printed.
The PDFs print fine in their entirety from Preview. I tried Reader 7.0.7 which also works fine.
Reader X has the same problem as Pro.
I checked for update printer drivers, but they are included with OS X and HP has no updates.

I have had the same experience. My HP 4050 reported "Insufficient memory" after printing the first page. The PDF was created with Acrobat Pro X by combining PDFs sent as attachments. The file is 238 KB, and is printed without difficulty using Acrobat Pro 9.

How do I force LDAP to listen to only one interface?

So I've been digging through this process and it seems possible, but none of my efforts have been fruitful.
*The goal*...Have 10.6 slapd (LDAP) listen on the primary interface (bonded EN) so that a secondary (virtual) IP can be used for another directory service. I know this isn't advised, but shy of running a VM for a the task of KMS would just waste resources. Purchasing a second Xserve is out of the question and I/O (mail) is a heavy demand so that cute Mini Server won't work in this environment.
*The setup*...Single Quad-Core Xenon Xserve with more than enough "umph" running 10.6.2 (files.domain.com with a bonded EN *.20 only running AFP and SMB) using an Xserve RAID as the file storage and Kerio MailServer (KMS setup to listen on a secondary *.21 IP) using a mirrored internal array as storage with a hardware firewall doing the security.
Everything works now, except LDAP in KMS. So we I need to get the 10.6 slapd to ONLY listen to *.20 so that my KMS will start on the same port, but with it's own IP *.21
I know this is possible, and Apple pointed me toward a man page for slapd...

It appears that "-h" is my flag. I've tried a handful of things, but nothing has worked. I also am fearful of preventing the system from seeing itself and having the files.. go down. This is a production server for a small business.

It would help to post what you've tried. It does, indeed, appear that -h is the switch, and the man includes several examples, so if you've followed the examples and it's not working then that hints that you should pass it back to Apple.
You also don't say how you're implementing your change. Are you invoking slapd manually, or are you editing /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.openldap.slapd.plist ?
You should be doing the latter, and I'd expect to see something like this:

You might also need an ldaps URL if you're using SSL but let's walk before we try to run

Measuring and sectioning tools in the 3D PDF, are available for all versions of acrobat? Or only for XI PRO or XI?

I'm looking for install the Acrobat XI PRO version to create 3D PDF, but I want to know if other people without this version could open the PDF and mesure the piece or section it with the tools or if this functions are only available in this version.

The tools are available in all versions of Acrobat and Adobe Reader on the desktop.

Hi Ali,
If you are using try catch then in case of catch condition if you pass null to substring it will fail.. Either you call the substring inside your udf (so that you can make sure that the filename is available then only substring is called) else handle the null condition in message mapping before calling substring...
Also you can try looking into the display queue entry for substring in Message Mapping for further analysis. Here also you will not get any filename by dynamic configuration, but i am not sure why it was not failing there.. May be display queue will help you.

Acrobat pro XI only opens pdfs 10% of the time, other times process created but it doesnt launch

I have a strange issue-
When I click on PDFs Acrobat pro XI does not launch except less than 10% of the time and it seems random. I can click the same PDF 10 times and perhaps get lucky once. The other times I get the "windows please wait blue circle" for about 5 seconds then nothing happens. I opened task manager and do see that an acrobat.exe process opens, and if I click on another PDF another process opens again essentially stacking over and over again each time I click.
I tried this on a few computers each time with the same issue. The computers are newer core i5 and i7 PCs with at least 4-8gb RAM & anywhere from 500gb-3tb HDDs
Acrobat pro X and XI are the only adobe programs on there (besides flash & on some reader xi)
I tried a friends copy of X for testing purposes just to see if i would have different results on the computer and it also seems to have the problem
Has anyone herd of this issue? Any ideas what I can do?

I would recommend running the Acrobat and Reader Cleaner then just install one and only one Acrobat/Reader program.

I'm facing a challenge providing ODBC for an in-memory Java application. There are commercial frameworks such as Simba and DataDirect but both involve extensive licensing and are too elaborate (given only read-only capability with basic single table querying required).
Another option I'm investigating is to use an ODBC-JDBC bridge driver (such as provided by EasySoft) in combination with a bespoke JDBC connector. The question is, how complex is it to implement a SELECT-only JDBC driver to interface directly with a Java app? (And as extension, are there any libraries that can assisting in creating a JDBC driver?)
Any ideas much appreciated,

The bridge and any "ODBC" interface is going to interact with the ODBC shell and a ODBC driver (nothing to do with java.) You can't create a ODBC driver without creating a ODBC driver. Which would seem obvious.
If you want to create a JDBC driver - which is not the same as an ODBC driver then you must implement the interfaces. Simple as that. That however requires that you must have some way to actually access the database.
