Acrobat dc - unknown app keeps opening & closing in dock

i'm using acrobat dc and an app keeps opening & closing in the dock constantly when i use it.  it keeps taking mouse pointer focus away from acrobat & it's frustrating.
i can't hover over the dock icon fast enough to see what it's called.
anyone else notice this?
what is the app & how to I stop it from opening?
thanks

thanks for getting back:)
mac os x 10.10.3
acrobat dc
I did try uninstalling / reinstalling acrobat dc.  how to i 'repair' acrobat?
looks like the app is called 's4c' and it has a generic OS X application icon.  it's so hard to get a screenshot because it opens & closes so fast.
thanks!

  • Since upgrading my iphone 4 to IOS6, apps keep opening and closing on their own

Since upgrading my iphone 4 to IOS6, apps keep opening and closing on their own and the wrong ones open when another is pressed. I've tried a full reset but still the same thing...HELP PLEASE :-(

I'm not familiar with the Belkin cover, but you could try removing the cover and reboot the iPad and see how that goes.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Photo app keeps force closing

The stock photo app keeps force closing during edit and sometimes regularly. Is this a problem everyone is experiencing?

    - That is not a common problem that users post in this forum.
    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod

  • Iphone 4 apps keep opening and closing

My Iphone 4 apps that other people have gotten for me (because they've already bought them) by signing into THEIR accounts on MY phone keep opening then closing. I cant do the authorize/reauthorize thing because those apps arent on my Itunes account, theyre just on my Iphone. Do i have to delete them and have my friends redownload them on my Iphone?

You should not have apps that are not associated with your account.
Apps are tied to the account from which they are purchased and are no meant to be given to someone else.  They are DRM protected to stop this from happening.

  • Why apps keep opened even when turning the iPhone 5 off then on?

Hi guys, please tell me if this is the current bahviour of iPhone, when turning the device off, with many apps opened in the background, turning it on again, it keeps opened! It's like hibernating your computer, isn't it?
    Thank you

    They don't.
What makes you think the apps are still open after restarting the phone?
If you are looking at the app icons at the bottom of the screen when you double-tap the home button, then those are NOT running apps. That is simply a list of recently used apps. Which apps you have recently used does not change when restarting the phone.
Most apps on the iPhone do not run in the background anyway.

  • My itunes keeps opening on the dock even when i quit

i have been facing this problem when itunes and tune up applications keep opening up on its own and when i force quit the application it pops up again. please help how to stop this.

If it is doing it while your device is plugged in, it is because it is set to automatically sync. Please go to: Preferences>Devices, and select the option to "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically." Also, I hate to be "that guy", but you spelt extremely wrong. Just a pro tip.

  • Apps appearing "open" in the dock that are not

I have noticed that after upgrading to Mountain Lion, exactly two apps appear permanently "open" in the Dock (glowing dot) while in fact they are not open. This only happens with two apps at the moment: Skype and Billings by Marketcircle.
Precisely, if I leave any of two apps open before a restart and mark the corresponding dialogue to open all windows anew, Skype and Billings will not open but will show as open in the Dock. A double click then regularly launches the app.
    Has anyone seen this?

You say they are open but in fact they are not.  It is true they are not Open, Open but they are active!  If you do not want apps to be "Active' at login you must quit app before shutdown, if you do not ever want any apps to be "Active" at login then do this as shown here....

  • Bought an iPhone5 from Dubai a week ago and am having a constant problem with the touchscreen going haywire. It starts flickering and apps keep opening and closing. Did a hard reset, restore, numerous times, same issue. Anyone experiencing the same issue?

The local retailer Sharaf DG needs 10 days to check the issue, not helpful at all. I spent more money to buy it from the retailer instead of the online store, and when I called Apple support they said they couldn't help me as I bought the phone from the retailer and not online. I'm extremely disappointed as this is my first iOS device and I've been told about how the iPhone is bulletproof. Guess i got a lemon.

Ok Guys, got the device back. Service centre said they replaced the Display and touch panel. I would have preferred a new phone, but whatever. I just hope this does it and the problem is fixed. @Robo, I've also got a new nano-SIM from the carrier, so hopefully now anything that can cause the phone to go crazy, is fixed.
Will update everyone in a week to confirm that the issue is resolved. Many thanks for everyone's responses.

  • ITunes app keeps opening by itself randomly...

The iTunes app on my MacBook Pro randomly opens and starts playing from my music library no matter what I'm doing on my laptop.  I keep quitting iTunes but it reopens on its own. I've restarted my laptop several times but that hasn't solved the issue. what can I do? (I have the latest iTunes version installed)

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Acrobat 9.5 pro keeps opening Windows installation window when clicked on icon.

Opens normally PDF documents. And the fix is ...?

    Hi Ajlan,
OK, it's odd, Acrobat launches normally only from its folder.
Any new shortcut created either on Start or Task bar opens Windows
installation window but the one on Desktop is OK.
Unfortunately I don't use Desktop shortcuts.

  • Adobe Application Manager keeps opening/closing?

    Hello.
Installed 6 copies of CS5.5 Design Premium this weekend on some machines in our studio. Did all the updates, etc. and everything was fine. Now, on 3 of the machines, every minute or so, the Adobe Application Manager pops up in the dock, then dissapears after a few seconds (nothing opens on-screen or anything). Anyone know what's causing this?
    Regards,
    Kristin.

    Hello ducky,
as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool.
Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
I quote: ... helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html  and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
Sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
If necessary and for further questions and if "open" please use chat, I had the best experiences.

  • Ipad 3 apps opening / closing / typing on their own

    Hi,
We purchased an iPad 3 today.
It went through the set up process fine. We switched it off  for about 20 minutes after calling Telstra to activate the sim card. When we switched it back on, apps began opening / closing / typing furiously all by themselves. Just sitting on the table completely untouched it would fire through apps.
We have turned it off/on. We have reset it. We have just left it alone. But as soon as the screen is unlocked the same thing keeps happening. It has slowed down and is not happening at the rapid speed it was, but apps continue to open and type gibberish on their own accord. Also, we have noticed that some of the 'keys' on the keypad don't respond, though we haven't done a lot of typing because as soon as you start you get overridden by whatever crazy thing the other apps are doing.
    Extremely disappointing and frusterating.
Is this a glitch in the new iPad? Do we need to return it?
    Many thanks for your advice.

You said that you reset it ..... But like this?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons
If you tried that and it is still acting up, have you restore the iOS software yet?
If you have done the reboot and restored the software, I would return it. That is certainly not normal behavior. Personally, I would be inclined to return it no matter what. I would hate to think that this could occur again on a brand new device.

  • 2nd gen ipod touch keeps force closing apps. what should i do?

my wife gave me her old 2nd gen ipod touch when she got a new one. she cleared off all the data and did a factory reset. a couple of weeks goes by and my apps keeps force closing on me. its getting really annoying escpecially when i try to play games or go on facebook. i checked for updates and its has the latest 4.2.1. its not a space issue either; i have 6.83 gigs left. i really dont want to do a restore...can anyone give me any tips or advice on what to do about this problem?
    thanks!

A restart does nothing to the data.  Try this first.
A reset does nothing to the data.  Try this if  restarting does not help.
If restart and restore do not solve it then restore from backup.
If that fails then restore as new.

  • Minimized apps re-opening on startup

Am I alone in having this problem or is it not a problem at all but a new 'feature'? I've tried searching Google and these forums, but my queries didn't result in any issues similar to mine.
The problem is with apps that are opened automatically after a reboot (apps that were open when the system was shut down).
Apps that had a window open when the system was shut down, open normally and work fine. Apps that were minimized/had no window open (Skype, for example), do get a marking in the Dock like they are started, but they don't actually start. If I click the Dock icon, then the app is started (no icon bouncing, but I get the screen of Skype signing in, etc...). This seems to happen with every app that opens into the Dock but didn't have a window open when it was shut down.

    Aha! Interesting.
(No offense intended with the Windows reference; that was for other readers new to Mac.)
I just tried it, and after restart with no window in iBiz, iBiz was marked as running in the Dock and also appeared in AM, even though I had not clicked on its icon. Although Word had no windows open on restart, after restart it displayed Document Gallery.
The other thing I noticed is that some apps seem to take longer to "recover" after this type of restart. When I did click iBiz icon in Dock, it reopened its default window, but it took 5-10 seconds.
Just out of curiosity, I wonder if the system is just taking longer to "get around" to loading all app components into active processes, if the apps you describe as "not actually started" would eventually start? I noted that Acrobat was initially listed in AM in red as not responding, but eventually it appeared in AM normally.
I note when I click on one or another app's icon after this type of restart, sometimes windows are grayed or take 3-4 seconds to fully load. I suppose it could depend on processor speed, available RAM and number of apps having to re-start. How many apps are indicated in Dock as running for you in this scenario? I have 8 plus Finder, early 2008 Mac Pro with 8GB RAM. I see you have two 120GB SSD (Cool! I'm thinking about adding one).
Sorry, but I can't think of anything else. Perhaps one of the other gurus around here has more insight.
