There have been no updates to the Server (Windows, Novell, e.t.c.)
    Thanks.

    Hi Ant,
Is DEP (Data Execution Prevention) turned OFF on the server in question?

  • Having problem with svchost.exe/ntdll.dll errors causing GPSVC (Group Policy Client) to crash preventing users from logging into the server.

Recently (within the past 2 weeks) I have noticed a few of our servers will have problems with the svchost.exe application causing the GPSVC (Group Policy Client) to crash. The only fix at that point is to reboot the server since the GPSVC service is tied
to svchost.exe and therefore is protected from being manually restarted.
I noticed the following errors when this occurs:

I've searched and cannot seem to find any information as to what may be causing this, or even really where to start. Would someone be able to help me identify what might be causing this event, specific with the Exception code: 0xc0000024, which causes
the Group Policy Client service to stop?

You still out there looking at things? If so I have an update. The issue hasn't stopped, even though it did seemingly die down for awhile, however, it is now back with a vengeance.
I am able to force it to happen by killing the svchost process that is hosting GPSVC. If I run gpupdate /force, then logout/login it does get GPSVC running again. Furthermore, if I simply start svchost again via the Task Manager GPSVC starts running again.
When I access the server remotely with KVM it acts just like it does as if I'm logging into it via Citrix/RDP which for Admin IDs gives an error saying "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows could not connect to the Group Policy Client service...",
however, normal user accounts just get a message when logging into the server "The Group Policy Client Service Failed the Logon. Access is denied."
I haven't opened a case with Microsoft yet, but we about ready to because of the increase in these errors.
If you have any further suggestions that would be great, otherwise I'll provide an update once I get word back from Microsoft.
**EDIT -- apparently I mistook the the server's SCM's actions as my own. I was able to successfully crash the GPSVC service by killing the hosting svchost process, however, after I crashed it and let it sit crashed for awhile when I attempted
to restart either by starting a svchost task, or running gpupdate /force it failed. Either that, or there is a timing issue where if we don't restart the svchost process, or run gpupdate /force quickly enough it won't be able to recover without a reboot.

    Hi,
I hope that I'm posting in the right section.

    Hi Brian,
Thanks for your help and advise.
Crystal has been running on the server for some time (over a year) but hasn't been 'managed' until now so am looking at all of the issues at present.
We haven't seen a pattern when the errors started though.
Unfortunately the only errors I think relating to CR are the ones in the original post.  There are other errors, particularly to do with printing, but I think that they these are due to the TS sessions which wouldn't run Crystal. See below.
The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module C:\Windows\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3\tsprint.dll, error code 0xc1. See the event user data for context information.
I am assuming the users are fine when they view the report then; scrolling through pages.  Yes, I believe so.
Yes, there are no locally attached printers on the server so the users rely on their remote session sharing the printer.
    Regards,
    Don

  • Application Error: vmsnap23.exe

    Hello, All.
This is my first post on this forum, so please be nice!
Over the past month I have an application error that occurs every time I log on. It appears that the application vmsnap23.exe is failing to start, but I cannot find out what it is (*or does* for that matter) so that I can fix it. Any ideas?
I'm on XP (sp3 as of yesterday)
    Event viewer gives this information:
    +Faulting application vmsnap23.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.5512, fault address 0x00011669.+
I have followed the Microsoft but have not found anything useful there. The program sits loosely on the C: rather than in 'program files' or either of the system folders.
Is this a Toshiba program, part of XP *or* something dodgy that I can just delete?
    Thanks for looking.
    Cheers!
    Ken

    No, Mike.
I removed the version of Norton that was supplied with the laptop and have the full version of AVG that my school uses. I don't think that it could be a Norton leftover, as I have had the laptop for well over a year now and the problem is a recent one.
Thanks for idea, though. I'll check it out.
    Cheers!

  • Iexplore.exe ntdll.dll citrix app-v flash crash

App is a url: a website that uses flash/java/whatnot.
app has already been sequenced without starting IE and only configuring necessary prerequisites like a specific java version and some certificate trusts.
App crashes when it is being REMOTELY accessed from citrix website/pna. if i access it through rdp on server or from local environment (intranet WI/PNA site) - it works.
It only crashes remotely and only if published through app-v package.
    FILENAME="%CSIDL_PROGRAM_FILES%\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"
Flash is set to server-side rendering.

disabling ctx hooks didn't do the trick.

    Followup: MachineOwner

    hello,
    thank you for the suggestions.
For some odd reason why I disabled citrix hooks completely via
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
    "LoadAppInit_DLLs"=dword:00000000"
The issue persisted, even though it was apparent that the registry had effect, because no seamless windows were presented and the published application looked like a window with a blank desktop.
What "solved" the issue was either of the following scenarios:
    1) specifically disabling hooks for IE
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\CtxHook]
    "ExcludedImageNames"="iexplore.exe"
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Citrix\CtxHook]
    "ExcludedImageNames"="iexplore.exe"
    2) having a specific version of flash on the client box - 11.7.700.261. Even though policies are in place to FORCE server side flash content rendering. Bizarre.
I doubt we'll have proper citrix support on the matter, so workarounds are left.
And what is still puzzling - why does the physical app work without disabling hooks... Won't be pursuing further, I've had more than enough of this issue. ;)

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 - Multiple application errors in module MSVCR90.DLL

I'm having some trouble with one of the terminal servers that I administrate, lately there have been a large number of application errors reported by users. Looking at the logs they all have in common that they report MSVCR90.DLL as the faulty module, with
some of the applications throwing errors being fixmapi.exe, iexplore.exe & acrord32.exe.
I did some searching around and tried the usual things of uninstalling and reinstalling the mvc redist, however it doesn't appear to have made much of a difference. I configured capture of user-mode dumps as mentioned in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/repeated-appcrash-errors-across-many-applications/18ee194c-56dd-4909-abed-e563de11713b
which seems to be recommended as a way to find the real faulty module that is behind all the problems, so far I've generated one dumpfile at least for a fixmapi.exe but I am not sure how to parse it, does anyone have any idea?

    Hi DialectEmil,
Would you please let me know whether install all necessary updates on the problem computer? Please run
sfc /scannow command to scan all protected system files. In addition, please perform a
clean boot and check if this issue still exist.
Please also refer to following article and check if help you to troubleshoot application crashes.

If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,
    Justin Gu

  • Why do I get the Application Error jqsnotify.exe-Application Error. The memory could not be read?

Why do I get this error message every time i opened up Firefox saying: jqsnotify.exe-Application Error and then at the bottom line it says: The instruction at "0x5ff3d322"referenced memory at " 0xe41203c3". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I recently renewed and installed the CA Security Suite and un-installed Firefox and re-installed it again.

System restore did it for me........!!!! It's gone and I don't miss it one bit.....!!!! May be one of those untraceable tricks that hackers use to irritate people.....Some security programs can identify these things ,but the perps usually use bogus addresses to send them anyway...Cyber criminals SUCK....<u>That is right ,I said that....</u> and they should be jailed and fined and suspended from internet usage all over the globe....

  • Acrobat Distiller 9 Error - Cannot Print PDF

When I try to print PDFs from any browser or piece of software, try to open Distiller directly, or even scan to PDFs, I receive the following error:
Unable to create the temporary folder.
Error: 5 - Access is denied.
I have had no problems until Monday with this.  I did not install any new software.  I have done the following:
Scanned the computer for Malware (Malwarebytes) - 0 threats found
Scanned the computer for regular virus/registry issues (AVG 2013) - 0 threats found
Repaired Acrobat 9 PRO installation - no change
Rebooted multiple times - no change
My computer runs Windows 7 64-bit, and I have Adobe Web Premium CS5 (which comes with Acrobat 9 PRO).  I currently do not have access to the installation discs, as I just moved.

jlk2011 thanks, I found your thread, and it worked!  I'm sharing what I did here and then closing the thread.
By holding the Windows key and R down, I typed %TEMP% into the Run field and hit Enter.
I found a temp folder name Acrobat Distiller 9.  I deleted the folder.  I then created a new folder with the same name, and I was immediately able to print PDFs again.  The issue was resolved.

This has been happening on my new machine when i work in Flash Pro CS5.5 - a part of CS5.5 Classic Collection, when i make animations using drawing and various other tools, specifically, when i do things quickly.
i mean that literally; when i select a keyframe, deselect deselect it, reselect, right-click, delete, do these quicly, sometimes it will happen when i go to save my work after having made many changes to it, then Flash will crash i.e. the cursor spins, the the interface is dimmed, and then all my internet browswers dim including windows browswers, the task bar disappears, Start menu disappears - i cant shutdown, so i hit the restart btn on my tower, but Windows doesnt load, rather i get a black screen asking me to insert a media disc, if i dont and restart by hitting the button on the tower, i get the black screen asking for a media disc, which i do, i insert the Windows installation cd in my optical drive, go to the Repair tools, and use the Shutdown btn there. This is the only way to get my machine out of the loop, to recover, and Windows starts normally.
Because the crash was happening when i work fast, i was wondering if it's to do with a memory issue, and BTW, saving an .fla takes about 10-20 seconds, is NOT immediate, and disables the software as it is saving. The file in question is 1,092 KB.
My machine consists of an i7 2600k cpu, unraided 4 hard disks including a Vertex SSD 120G for the OS and programs, and 3 additional WD at 7200rpm 1 and 2 terrabyte sized, a DVI PCI-e Video Card GTX 580 3G "Phantom". And 16G ram - Gskill DDR3 1600MHz
And, i am NOT having this issue with any other software; i have CS5.5 Classic Collection installed on my machine and am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
    I would appreciate your help.
    thanks

Have you tried recreating your preference files in Flash CS5.5? Please be sure to backup any previous preference files before doing this so that you can save them if needed

  • Application error nicitdl5.exe

When I shutdown my windows XP - windows application error message - nicitdl5.exe. Not sure why?

    Many Thanks!

    I'm running Labview 8.6 on Windows-XP and I get...
    Runtime Error!
    Program C:\Windows\system32\nictdl5.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    ...when I shutdown windows.
I don't know why it happens but I can't prevent it if I manually stop the service 'National Instruments Citadel' before shutting down. This must be done every time you shut down. I don't know any other way to solve this.
