Acrobat Distiller Server OR Acrobat Professional

Hello
I am looking to use the Adobe Distiller API inside my application which will convert Postscript files to PDF. The application will run on a server and will monitor a particular folder for Postscript files. The application will create the PDF files into another folder on the server.
We have a dev, test and production server which we will run this application on in some capacity.
I have been recommended by customer services to purchase the Acrobat Distiller Server(100 users) and that this can be deployed on all 3 servers. Could I not buy 3 licenses of Acrobat Professional instead?

Ok. If I buy Acrobat Distiller Server then can I use it on all 3 servers - development, test and production. So really the 'actual' execution will only be on the production server.

Acrobat Distiller Server 8.0 API problem

Hi im currently using distiller server 8.0 version 3016.102.
I would like to convert Post Script file using API from ACRODISTXLib. File are not converting because of directory restrictions.
I know that i can omit using "/f" argument running application but what about API usage? Is there a way to bypass directory restrictions
in API call?

So far as I have ever heard, Distiller Server is technically identical
to the regular Distiller in Acrobat Professional, but with a licence
to run a single copy serving multiple users.
This means it has the same API and limitations, if true.

What version of Acrobat is supported by Acrobat Distiller server 8

Hi,
We are trying to install a software ‘ISIPublisher’ as part of pre-requisite we need to install ‘Adobe Acrobat 9.4.4 (English and Japanese) or X (English) with local postscript driver support’. So we installed Adobe Acrobat X on the server.
During installation it asks for ‘Acrobat Distiller Server’ also as a pre-requisite software.
So we tried to install, Acrobat Distiller server 8 but it asked for uninstalling Acrobat X Pro, so we uninstalled the Acrobat Pro X software and installed software Distiller server.
Now we also need Adobe Acrobat X Pro also installed on the server but while trying to install it ask to uninstall the Acrobat Distiller Server.
So does anyone know what version of Adobe Acrobat need to be used with Acrobat Distiller Server in order to fulfill the requirements.

It is normally stated that Acrobat itself does not have a license for server use - this is why Distiller Server exists, because it provides a special license for that portion of Acrobat. Now, it may be that ISIPublisher has special arrangements, but you would probably need to contact the makers of ISIPublisher to find out the situation.
I am sure Adobe never expected any need or reason to have both Adobe Acrobat and Distiller Server on the same machine, so any problems need to be resolved by ISIPublisher.

Acrobat & Distiller Server

Is it not possible to have Acrobat and Distiller Server installed on the same computer? I just tried to install on a test machine, and the installer refused to complete, stating that distiller was already available as part of the Acrobat installation.
I would like to have both Acrobat and Distiller Server installed on the same machine for completely different processes.

I can't imagine I'm the only one who has this question - I need to have both Acrobat and Distiller Server installed on a single machine for completely separate automated processes.
I haven't had any luck getting the Acrobat installation to stay in place - the Distiller Server setup process removes it. Does anyone have any experience maintaining both applications on the same machine?

Adobe CS6, Acrobat, Distiller & Print settings OK with Yosemite?

Has anyone with CS6 using InDesign and Acrobat software upgraded to Yosemite? Were print settings affected? Distiller functioning properly? InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator OK? Thanks!!!@

First you appear to be position in the forum. This forum is for Acrobat Distiller Server, not Acrobat Distiller on a Server. This is not a minor difference. Acrobat Distiller questions are handled in the Acrobat Windows or Acrobat Mac forum. Secondly, and more importantly, it is against the Acrobat license to use Acrobat and/or Distiller on a Server for the use of more than one person. The reason for this is that Adobe wishes to sell you products like Acrobat Distiller Server (now part of the LiveCycle Suite of products).
Alas, I cannot help you with the problem you are having since I have never heard of the font that is causing you an issue. Perhaps it was a font installed on a printer attached to your old computer/server.

Is Acrobat X working fine at your end? This problem could be related to "EULA" acceptance. You may have to manually accept that to make it work.
Another suggested would be to update Acrobat installation to the latest version?

No, Distiller does not do that job at all. Distiller makes PDF files, but it does not read them.
I am not sure what you are using: Distiller Server is finished as a product. Distiller comes with Acrobat also - this is not Distiller Server.
Acrobat Pro includes many tools for processing PDF files and can sometimes reduce file size. It can also convert to PDFX4 using Preflighting.

What is the cost of Adobe Distiller Server?

Hi, My project requirement is to convert Word Doc files to Pdf files using ASP.Net 2.0. I am interested to use Adobe Distiller Server for this. Can anyone please guide me as to how much this product will cost me and the Server Licence for upto 100 users. Also how long does it take to buy the product from Adobe?

Acrobat Distiller Server can only convert Postscript to PDF. You may look at this product:

Supressing Modal Info - Distiller Server 8

Hi All,
We have server version of Acrobat Distiller server in the workflow where it processes morethan 2000 PS files/Day.The issues we are facing is modal dailog of file missing info (File not found, etc) blocks processing of next file until modal dialog is closed. Is there any possibility to supress this message or set this log as mail delivery?

Acrobat Distiller Standard In Win 2k3 Server

Hi,
We have a service running in a win 2k3 server which converts office files to PDF using acrobat distiller standard 8. Often some PDF files misses table borders or some images gets distorted. If I rerun, proper PDF files are rendered. And the same word files can be converted to PDF with out any issues in my xp desktop box using acrobat distiller professional. Both have the same settings.
We use VBS to do the conversion job, which is used by a windows service. VBS converts word to ps files first and then use distiller to print them to PDF.
Is this because we are using standard version win 2k3 server? do we need to upgrade to a professional or server version?

Acrobat Distiller 8 Professional

Hello,
We have the following problem. We have a folder with several MS Word documents. When an MS Word document is created in a specific folder we want them to convert automatically into a PDF document.
Acrobat Distiller 8 Professional have the "watched folder" feature but can only read .ps documents. Is there any solution (maybe another Adobe program) to convert our MS word documents automatically into PDF documents?

Trouble installing Distiller Server 8 alongside Acrobat Standard 8

After having installed Acrobat Standard 8 on a Windows XP machine (and updating to 8.1), I attempted to install Distiller Server 8 and received the following message: "Distiller Server is incompatible with the version of Acrobat installed on this computer. Please uninstall Acrobat to proceed with the installation of Distiller Server 8. Setup will now terminate."
I've called Adobe Technical Help and Adobe Customer Service, and they only direct me from one to the other resource. The info sheet for Distiller Server 8 states that this combination is supported, yet no one at Adobe appears to be familiar with either product.
I know that if I install Server first and then install Acrobat, it will cause issues with the Server functions - any suggestions?

Distiller Server 8 and Acrobat 9

Is there a way to run these two side by side? After having installed Acrobat Pro 9, I get an error message when installing Distiller Server 8 stating that it is not compatible with this version of Acrobat. I had been under the impression that the installation process for Distiller Server overwrote any previous installation/variant of Distiller.
