Acrobat Distiller Standard In Win 2k3 Server

Hi,
We have a service running in a win 2k3 server which converts office files to PDF using acrobat distiller standard 8. Often some PDF files misses table borders or some images gets distorted. If I rerun, proper PDF files are rendered.  And the same word  files can be converted to PDF with out any issues in my xp desktop box using acrobat distiller professional. Both have the same settings.
We use VBS to do the conversion job, which is used by a windows service. VBS converts word to ps files first and then use distiller to print them to PDF.
Is this because we are using standard version win 2k3 server? do we need to upgrade to a professional or server version?

Thanks for the reply.
Why it cant be used? Or do you mean we cannot use Standard? Do you have any other suggestions?

  • Can't connect to WRV200 config from Win 2k3 server

We have 2 servers running Win 2k3 Server, both of which I can not connect to the configuration on our WRV200 router. Here is our current setup.
DSL > WRV200 > 8 Port Linksys Gigabit switch > Servers and Other Gigabit switch to all workstations.
When I hook my laptop up to the 8 Port switch I can connect to the router's config without any issue. I can also connect without any issue via any of the workstations. I can not, however, connect with the browsers on the servers. They are both IE6 with all updates run.
I tried clearing out the ARP tables which didn't do anything.
When I try to connect to it I get to the login screen, put in the admin password, and then it gets stuck on loading SetupStatic.asp. After resetting to factory settings it is SetupDHCP.asp.

Do you have correct Gateway IP on Server(s)? Can you load other websites?
If not, review your NIC settings on your Server. The problem is not your Router.

  • How to start / stop Oracle Directory Integration service (Win 2k3 Server)

I'm running a standard OAS 10.1.2.0.2 instance on Windows Server 2k3, and am having trouble starting and stopping ODISRV instances. Well, at least I think I am, because I can't find any way of telling if they're actually running.
The System Components in the Application Server Control web page shows the following to be all up and running:
    HTTP_Server
    Internet Directory
    OC4J_SECURITY
    Single Sign-On:orasso
    Management
Which is backed up by opmnctl:
    opmnctl statusProcesses in Instance:
    ------------------------------------------------+---------
    ias-component | process-type | pid | status
    ------------------------------------------------+---------
    DSA | DSA | N/A | Down
    LogLoader | logloaderd | N/A | Down
    dcm-daemon | dcm-daemon | 1988 | Alive
    OC4J | OC4J_SECURITY | 5008 | Alive
    HTTP_Server | HTTP_Server | 2800 | Alive
    OID | OID | 4956 | Alive
In the Application Server Control, when I select the Internet Directory instance, and then the Status for Directory Integration, it shows two Directory Integration Servers, which correspond to instances I've previously started using oidctl. However, I cannot see any odisrv processes running. The only relevant processes appear to be 2 x oidldapd, 1 x oidmon, and 2 x opmn.
When I try to stop these using oidctl, the command returns no errors, but these instances do not go away. There is also only one odisrv log file from a week or so ago that does not appear to get updated. It is very possible that I stuffed the parameters of these instances up when I started them, so they may well be in an invalid statr at the moment.
So I have the following questions:
    - Is there anyway I can clear all these instances out back to a clean slate to start again?
    - Should I be using opmnctl to start an ODISRV instance, or should I somehow configure it to run under opmnctl startall?
    Thanks,
    Barney

Once you register the integration server, OIDSRV should auto start using oidmon.
    To cleanup
    -- opmnctl stopall
-- delete entries from ods.ods_process table, if there are any.
    -- Restart instance using opmnctl

Unfortunately your only solution may be to upgrade all of the AA8 installations. Adobe does not support AA8 on Windows 7, though several have been successful on 32-bit systems. The 64-bit system has been a killer for AA8 from what I have seen. Maybe one person reporting success. You might see if it can run under a compatibility setting. It is also interesting to note that the list you posted only mentions AA8.1, not the 8.3.1 that you indicated at the beginning. That could possibly be the issue. Generally the early releases have not worked with 64-bit systems. If you install the updates (maybe from Help>Updates, or as a download from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows) you will get the systems to run. Do expect potential problems if you continue to work with AA8, but you might be able to work it out. Good luck.

  • Acrobat 8 standard exe or iso

I've seen other much older posts talking about this.  When you go to the adobe "other software/older software" download page.  Then click on Acrobat 9, 8.  Then select Acrobat 8 (does not give the option for selecting Pro or Std.).
Then it will automatically download the Pro version.
I need a copy of the Standard version of Acrobat 8, for which I have a Key.
Has anyone, anywhere, ever found a copy of this installer package?  I couldn't even find one on torrent.
    Thanks for reading!

you can get acrobat 7, but i don't know what you can do for acrobat 8 standard.

  • Acrobat Distiller Server 8.0 API problem

Hi im currently using distiller server 8.0 version 3016.102.
I would like to convert Post Script file using API from  ACRODISTXLib. File are not converting because of directory restrictions.
I know that i can omit using "/f" argument running application but what about API usage? Is there a way to bypass directory restrictions

So far as I have ever heard, Distiller Server is technically identical
to the regular Distiller in Acrobat Professional, but with a licence
to run a single copy serving multiple users.
This means it has the same API and limitations, if true.

Need a driver for Acrobat Distiller 5.0.0.0 that will work on Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit.  Where can I find it, and what file is it?  (Yes, it's an old Distiller that came with Acrobat 5.  So shoot me.  But I do need the driver.)
Win 7 prompted me for an *.inf file.  Any idea?
If I find the original Acrobat 5 CD, which .inf would it be?
(Hey, since I'm asking, also a driver that will work on Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit.)
    Thanks.

There is no .inf file on the Acrobat 5 CD that you can use to create a “driver.” If Distiller 5 even installs and runs on Windows 7 x64, the plumbing that came with Acrobat 5 to automatically feed PostScript files created by the PostScript driver to Distiller simply won't work with modern versions of Windows or any 64-bit version of Windows.
FWIW, Acrobat 5 is five full versions back from the current version. And no, we won't shoot you; you are effectively doing that to yourself!  Your time must be worth something?!?!

  • How can I use Adobe Acrobat X Standard to print multiple documents on Lexis Nexis File & Serve?

I am unable to print multiple documents on the Lexis Nexis File & Serve legal website that used their Batch Document Processor software. The technicians there told me that Adobe Acrobat X Standard has an incompatibility with their Batch Document Processor software. I never had a problem with Adobe Acrobat 6.0 or Adobe Acrobat 9.0 and the Batch Document Processor program at the Lexis Nexis File & Serve website. I am now running Windows 7 Professional SP1. Before, we were running Windows XP Professional SP3 with the IE 8.0 browser. We now are running the IE 9.0 browser.

The answer is in the question...
Only the Pro version of Acrobat is capable of batch processing files (which
I assume the Lexis Nexis tool uses). Until now you had Acrobat Pro, and now
you have Acrobat Standard, and therefore you can't use it anymore. You need
    to upgrade to Acrobat Pro.

  • Using Acrobat 9 Standard on desktop running Win 7 32Bit - and an HP1536dnf MFP  -  Scanner function

Using Acrobat 9 Standard on desktop running Win 7 32Bit - and an HP1536dnf MFP  -  Scanner function won't run - message states that driver missing  - have tried to re-load original software many times from CD and download from HP website - that times out.  Have tried many times to load in just driver - won't load-in.  Have tried the unplug from power source and turning off firewall.  Nothing works.  Paid a lot of money for Acrobat and very helpful tool when I was running WinXP, but out of business since loading Win7 . . . . . . . Please help?

That sounds you are having a problem with the scanner driver, not Acrobat.  Are you installing the Windows 7 drivers with the correct bitness?

  • What version of Acrobat is supported by Acrobat Distiller server 8

    Hi,
We are trying to install a software ‘ISIPublisher’ as part of pre-requisite we need to install ‘Adobe Acrobat 9.4.4 (English and Japanese) or X (English) with local postscript driver support’. So we installed Adobe Acrobat X on the server.
During installation it asks for ‘Acrobat Distiller Server’ also as a pre-requisite software.
So we tried to install, Acrobat Distiller server 8 but it asked for uninstalling Acrobat X Pro, so we uninstalled the Acrobat Pro X software and installed software Distiller server.
Now we also need Adobe Acrobat X Pro also installed on the server but while trying to install it ask to uninstall the Acrobat Distiller Server.
So does anyone know what version of Adobe Acrobat need to be used with Acrobat Distiller Server in order to fulfill the requirements.
    Thanks,
    Prashant

It is normally stated that Acrobat itself does not have a license for server use - this is why Distiller Server exists, because it provides a special license for that portion of Acrobat. Now, it may be that ISIPublisher has special arrangements, but you would probably need to contact the makers of ISIPublisher to find out the situation.
I am sure Adobe never expected any need or reason to have both Adobe Acrobat and Distiller Server on the same machine, so any problems need to be resolved by ISIPublisher.

  • Acrobat XI standard (Windows) - can't save PDF Form in server

We created a PDF Form (Acrobat 11 standard) and located in company server. After fill up, it will be close & saved by script. It is working for some persons, but few person face the problem when they save PDF form in server "The file may be read only or another user may have it open. Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder.". It is sure that others not opened PDF form parallely.
Please guide how to solve this issues.

The message is telling the user either another program has the file open or another user is using the form.
Other programs that may trigger the file lock or form in use are Windows Explorer in the Preview mode, anti-virus software, or backup software. It is even possible that the server has lost track of the lock on the file.

  • Acrobat Distiller Server OR Acrobat Professional

    Hello
I am looking to use the Adobe Distiller API inside my application which will convert Postscript files to PDF.  The application will run on a server and will monitor a particular folder for Postscript files.  The application will create the PDF files into another folder on the server.
We have a dev, test and production server which we will run this application on in some capacity.
I have been recommended by customer services to purchase the Acrobat Distiller Server(100 users) and that this can be deployed on all 3 servers.  Could I not buy 3 licenses of Acrobat Professional instead?
    Thanks in advance.

Ok.  If I buy Acrobat Distiller Server then can I use it on all 3 servers - development, test and production.  So really the 'actual' execution will only be on the production server.
    Thanks.
