Acrobat Elements

Hola,

When I right-click to Convert to PDF or Convert to PDF and EMail for .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .pptx, .ppt, .pub, and .igx items (what I've tried so far), I get the following error: "Adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It works fine on .bmp .tif, .txt, .htm, and .jpg (what I've tried so far).  I am not having problems printing to Adobe to convert, nor am I having problems creating a PDF within a program, and I'm not having problems converting from IE.  I am using Windows XP Professional, Microsoft 2007, and IE 7.  My Adobe product is Adobe Acrobat X Pro Version 10.1.2.  What can I do to resolve this problem?  Thanks.

No, I don't have an older version.  I did a search on my C drive for anything that has a name of Acrobat Elements and came up with the following: (I'm hoping you can see this)

  • Adobe Acrobat Elements has encountered a problem

Hi, I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard v8.1.2. When I right-clicked a file (Excel or Word) and chose "Convert to Adobe PDF" I got error message:

Adobe Acrobat Elements has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Plus a message to send Error Report to Microsoft ('Please tell Microsoft about this problem' sort of message).
I've been searching if someone else had the same problem but seem we're (in our office) the only one :=).
    Pls help. Thanks.

I support a client that is seeing this exact same issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.2.0,
I've tried repairing/reinstalling Acrobat and the issue persists.  The client can create PDF's if they open the document (in word, excel, etc...) and use the create PDF option from within the application.
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

Every time I right click on either a Word or Excel document and select Convert To PDF, it immediately gives the error:

Has anyone come across this and know how to resolve?  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat 8 Standard and ran all of the updates as well as ran a repair and all of the updates for MS Office.  It happens on multiple machines running Office 2003 and 2007.

  • Acrobat Elements 6.0 Command Line Parameters

Hi, I am trying to see if there is a way that I can convert .txt and/or .doc files to PDF using the Acrobat Elements with command line arguments.  I am doing this because I am writing a vbscript to put information in a txt file and then have that file converted to a PDF before sending it to an individuals inbox as an attachment.  I have the full licensed version of Elements 6.0 installed.  Sorry if this is a redundant question, but I cant find anything anywhere.
    Thanks

  • Unable to repair, delete or reinstall Acrobat Elements 6.0

When attempting to reinstall a corrupted version of Acrobat Elements 6.0, I receive an error message that says Error 1606. Could not access network location ?/;xlstart."  This is a fatal error and the machine is not on a network. There is no option offered to state a path to xlstart even if I knew where it normally is found.
Does anyone have an idea how to spoof the system into allowing an uninstall to run?

Here is an article that has some suggestions for the 1606 install error.

You can check with customer service, but the Adobe store lists upgrades from Acrobat Standard 6, 7, or 8, no version of Acrobat Elements is listed in the upgrade path.

  • Non-Printing Elements in Acrobat

Not sure if I should post this here or in a general Adobe forum, so I apologize if this is off-topic.
I have a page in a multi-page PDF that is a printable form. On this form I've added two navigation "buttons" (boxes created in InDesign) at the bottom, one of which returns the user to the page of origin and one that prints the form. I would prefer if neither of these buttons actually appeared on the printed form. Is it possible to hide acrobat elements from the print command?
Thank you very much in advance.

Yes, change the properties of form buttons.

  • Elements 8 Editior will not print !!

I am extremely annoyed at Adobe as Elements Editor (8.0) will not print!!  I have seen a number of complaints about this and I have tried multiple things to fix the problem.  I own many different Adobe products (Design Suite 5, Reader, Acrobat, Elements) as well as many other programs (Office 03, 07, and 10, Corel Suite of products, many photo related programs, etc.) and they all work fine on all te printers attached to my computer.  Even Elements organizer works perfectly.
With the Elements Editor I get an error box that starts with “Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document you need to install a printer”.
Another post to this forum suggested using the Microsoft XPS document writer print driver.  I tried that and it did get me a bit farther in that I finally was able to get the print dialog box up; however, whenever I selected another printer I got an error message telling me there was a fatal program error and I had to eventually quit and re-start elements.
I have looked for Elements updates – and none are available.  Someone suggesting re-loading the program and I really do not want to do that as the program works perfectly (as dies the organizer) except for printing.  I have recently updated the print driver so that cannot be the problem and as I said – you can print directly from the organizer.
To make matters worse I got so frustrated looking for a web address or e-mail for sending my complaint to Adobe that I gave up – none could be found.
Can anyone let me in on the secret as to how to print, or get the editor to recognize the printer, from Elements Editor?
    Thanks – Mike

    Mike,
You state: " I have recently updated the print driver so that cannot be the problem and as I said – you can print directly from the organizer."
I have been led to believe that the print engines for Editor and Organizer are not the same, even though they are marketed within the same program. It may be that the driver for the printer antedates the production of PSEv.8.
Have you tried using another printer (of recent vintage)  for printing from Editor?

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9

I am running Windows 7 Pro with Abode Acrobat Pro version 9 with the latest update, When I right click on DOC.file I got the menu with one of the option to convert to PDF and if I select more than one file and Right click I used to get a Combine file in PDF, - last week I got windows update and since then those 2 options of convert to PDF and Combine to PDF are not showing any more when i RightClick on any file  - instead i got a blank space in the right click menu  - I run the repair option from the original CD but result is same - I even un-install all the Adobe Acrobat and re-install it again but same result - any other idea how i could fix this problem?
For your info I am having Acrobat reader installed in same PC

I have read in some other posting that I should register the following DLL witch I did but still no luck the contect of the right click menu is still blanc
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu64.dll

  • Bring back PDF Portfolio option to Acrobat Standard!

We are refreshing some department computers with newer models through Dell.  These new computers come with Adobe Acrobat X Std on them.  This works fine for most people until today.  Our one department had their older XP computers replaced with new Win 7 machines and Adobe Acrobat X standard.  They were dependant on a feature to right click on a bunch of PDFs and combine them.  They need the portfolio option because a regular combine will overwrite values in forms because "they have the same name".  This worked fine on the OLD machines with Adobe 9.5 Standard.
So on the new computers with Acrobat X Standard, this portfolio option is gone!  This is needed for their job!
Now I am scrambling to deactivate and uninstall X standard from the new computers ,and deactivate and uninstall 9.5 from the old ones.  Using Belarc Advisor to obtain the product key, I can reinstall it on the new computers, along with running all the umpteen patches to get 9.0 back up to the latest version.  Not only that but the right click context menu is gone, so I had to research that and find the command to get it back -> regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu64.dll"
After doing some research it seems you have to spend extra money on a X or XI "professional" version, just to get a feature that was included in 9 STANDARD.  Shopping around the best price I could find was over at NewEgg for $120.  Multiple that by the people who need it, were looking at good amount of money to get back a single feature we had before!
So were going right back to Acrobat 9 standard because it does what we need it to do.  My plea to adobe is to bring back the portfolio feature!  Either that or don't screw up the contents of forms in a standard combine!
Is this the latest trend that new versions of software are designed to take away features or functionality that people depend on?  I mean even Windows 8 takes away the start menu (I know there's freeware to get it back).  Please don't stoop to Microsoft's level and remove thign's people depend on.

We are also going through some of the issues with Acrobat standard being gutted. In acrobat 9 standard we have some processes that used a function called "Export Multiple Files.." This allowed you function through a wizard to select as many files of many file types as you wanted and export them to a ton of file formats. I use this on a daily basis and now i am being told it is not available in the standard version. If i buy the PRO version it is available, but what will keep Adobe from from removing this from the Next version of PRO and call that PLATNUM or somthing. This not the way to treat long time customer who pay for and have developed many process using the tool. It is also sad to learn that Portfolio option is no longer available. We will have to go back to 9 until they figure this out. What a massive screw up.

  • Help Please...Damaged 3D plugin on Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - Guidance to Re-install

    Hello...
I have been getting Warning messages indicating that "part of the 3D Capture plugin is damaged" over the past week and finally tried to follow Adobe's advice online in modifying the Registry (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Wow6432) and made sure my security app "trusts" acapture32.dll, then attempted to repair Acrobat twice -- with no luck...in fact things seem even worse now.  But when I tried to contact Adobe support for some guidance, all they could "help" me with was recommending I upgrade to 11, because 9 is no longer supported.  I don't need 11...9 has served my needs perfectly until corruption.
Tonight I visited Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended's download page, and tried to download the "Version 3D Update 200810" .msi file but when I try to run it, I get a screen that says:  "No qualifying products found to apply this update" which suggests to me it now can't even SEE my app.
Adobe support would not even answer one simple question I had...perhaps someone here can help me.
I've seen many questions on the forums related to deactivating on an old system and properly installing and activating the software onto a new computer, but nowhere is there clear guidance on how to uninstall a program that has become corrupted...and reinstall it back onto the SAME computer.
    My question is:
I know de-activation is critical, but I need to know which of the two choices I should be making before uninstalling then reinstalling:
    1.  Should I choose to "Deactivate & Suspend"...(which supposedly retains my registration information) but if I UNINSTALL the software then REINSTALL it and try to re-activate it, won't I have lost my "registration" information anyway when uninstalling the app from my system before reinstalling it?
    -OR-
    2.  Should I select instead to "Deactivate Permanently", then UNINSTALL the app, then REINSTALL it -- and will I be able to go through the registration process anew for a product that Adobe says it no longer supports...AND activate it?
Also what seems to be strange, my 9 Pro Extended indicates I am running version 9.5.5, but on Adobe's download page for Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, I only see updates through version 9.4.5.  I've been set to automatically receive Acrobat 9 updates as they are released, so the only place I could have gotten a 9.5.5 update was through Adobe.
Please help me...Adobe has so many hoops to jump through that there is too much room for screwing up.  So I'm asking for help BEFORE I do...
    Thank you!
    -Janie-

    Hi Rave...
Bet you thought all was well.  I was without my system for a few days but finally had a chance to uninstall...and reinstall full app and all updates through 9.5.5.
Problem is...the same problem.  Issues related to 3D Capture with notifications.  The result ends up being a .pdf that either includes hieroglyphics in various parts of the document...or Acrobat freezing altogether forcing me to either attempt to do a hard close on the program (if it lets me)...or hard reboot of my system.  This happens when trying to .pdf web pages or html .pdf docs...not on Word docs, Excel docs or .jpgs -- things like that.
Here's the content of one of the log files generated:
        %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%

    Also this:
        The operation completed successfully.
         Pipe:\\.\pipe\PMtoDistiller_ID_2:Error                              (or Pipe:\\.\pipe\PMtoDistiller_ID_5:Error) - varies
I've also been getting a  plugin-container.exe    error message via Windows but don't know if it is related in any way to the 3D Capture issue.
(I do run Mozilla Firefox v-31.0)
I also never de-activated (was not allowed to complete the request) before uninstalling AND never was asked to re-activate after re-installing.  So I don't know if that's good news or not.  If I ever want to de-activate on this computer and install/activate onto a new system or HD I'll likely be out of luck on that.
Other weird stuff upon re-install.  Checked my HD used space BEFORE uninstalling, AFTER uninstalling, and AFTER re-installing application and all updates for 9 Pro Extended.  Results as follows:
    BEFORE UNINSTALL:
    Used:  112 GB
    Free:  31.9 GB
    AFTER UNINSTALL:
    Used:  110 GB
    Free:  36.2 GB
AFTER RE-INSTALL AND ALL UPDATES INSTALLED:   (I would have expected these figures to be pretty much the same as BEFORE UNINSTALL)
    Used:  124 GB
    Free:  19.3 GB
And program space under Add/Remove only indicates 1,959 MB -- it was at around 2,300+ MB BEFORE UNINSTALL...
So something really strange is going on!
Is there a way to override or disable 3D Capture?
Other things I'm picking up on.  I had Acrobat Reader on my system before as well as CS2...and originally was using Adobe Acrobat Elements but (except for CS2) had uninstalled those quite some time ago, however...in my Docs & Settings.../JLD/ApplicationData/Adobe/Acrobat folder I'm finding the following folders (and all are populated):
    6.0
    9.0
    10.0
    11.0
    Distiller 6
    Distiller 9
    Preflight Acrobat 9
Only version of Acrobat showing in "Add/Remove Programs" is 9   (BTW...is Acrobat 6.0/Distiller 6.0 needed for CS2? - but they're not showing up in Add/Remove.)
In my Program Files, along with CS2 content is:
Acrobat 6.0 (but the Resource folder within only contains a font)
    Acrobat 9.0
So I'm trying to think of anything else that may signal what my conflict or problem is being caused by...don't know if any .dll is corrupted, but on a new install I would think those things should now be a non-issue.
Any ideas (aside from simply turning 3D Capture error notifications off) on how to disengage 3D Capture altogether so there's nothing to set off an error and lock-up because of it?  I can limp through getting hieroglyphics but can't stand getting locked up for attempting to create a .pdf.
Or a setting in the Registry that I need to contemplate?  I hate touching anything in there...but if it's simply a setting, I can back-up it up, make a change and restore if needed.
I'm sorry to hit you with all this...but the forum isn't letting me attach any screenshots so I have to write it all in.
    Thank you, Rave!

  • Acrobat X Pro - Windows 7 - Missing context menu

Hi, so I just installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro on a Windows 7 computer and noticed how the context menu "right click" for "Combine PDF files" are missing. Open with Adobe Acrobat X however is there, but when selecting two or more PDF files, this option isn't there anymore. It was before installing Acrobat X from Acrobat 9.3.
I tried regsvr32 for ContextMenu.dll as well as the ContextMenu64.dll, since this is a 64bit Windows 7 computer. I also tried removing the entry from registry. When I ran the regsvr32 again, the registry entry came back. So the registering of the dll seems to be working.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is to restart the computer. Would that be necessary? Or is this option removed from Acrobat X?

do the following to see if you get them back
register the Contextmenu64.dll (if on a 64bit system)
    located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat Elements
Open a command prompt as an administrator
    type:
    cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat Elements
    hit return
    type:
    regsvr32 Contextmenu64.dll
    hit return
check if these context menu's have returned for supported files.
I had the same issue and this worked for me.

  • Combine PDF feature missing from right click option Acrobat Pro 9/Windows 7

I combine PDF's all day long and need this feature. I had it on my old computer and since moving over to the new computer I do not have the option to combine PDF's when right clicking on PDF documents. I have searched the forum and found other fixes, however none have worked, I have uninstalled and re-installed three times as well and no luck. Does anyone have any other ideas for fixes for this. I need this feature.....

Found this it worked for me :
http://acrobatusers.com/forum/pdf-creation/right-click-option-combine-supported-files-miss ing a known issue caused by the context menu handler not being registered (tends to result from patches and installs when Windows UAC is active).
    It's
From the Start menu, choose 'All Programs' > 'Accessories, and *right-click* on 'Command Prompt'Select 'Run as Administrator' and approve the UAC window (if one is displayed)
If you have 64-bit Windows, in the command window type the following and press Enter, including the quotes:
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu64.dll"
On 32-bit Windows, type this instead:
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu.dll"
You should see a message saying it was successful. Close the command prompt window, and your context menus should be back up and running. .
