Acrobat file hangs up even when just browsing in explorer

I created a concatenated file from a collection of smaller pdfs using acrobat (vers 8, Vista) about 21 MB. However, even trying to change its name or look at its properties in windows explorer causes the window to hang with the spinning blue circle. I can open the pdf OK by quickly double clicking and even save it again - but the new file has the same behaviour. I cant move the file itself for that reason, but I can copy and move the folder its in. There does not seem to be an error in the file itself according to disk check. I suspect it is trying to preview the file when I click over it, but not succeeding. Is there anything I could do with it - e.g. stop its preview if that is a problem? (I would have to change its properties from Acrobat, not windows explorer). I have already removed its hidden data etc.

Installed the latest version of acrobat (8.1 something) and restarted the computer. Problem went away so not sure what the issue was in the end.

i want to persist a user session even when the browser is closed. How to do it through cookies. I know i define a cookie, set its max age and then put that in response. But its not working.

i am not sure if i am doing something wrong. the cookies are enabled and i see that for ie 7, if i open a new tab the session is maintained but if i open a new window (of I.E. 7) altogether then the session is not maintained. Interestingly the code is working in firefox. is there some problem with the I.E. only?

Not sure if you are using the Facebook App or browsing the Facebook page in Safari or other browse, but see if those troubleshooting steps help.

1-2 fps and under 10 kbps, even when just making sample

Hi all, like i said above, Im getting only 1-2 fps and under 10 kbps, even when just making a sample. I've been able to encode
and stream with high quality before, but in the last two days i haven't been able to get it to work. Im running it on a 3.4Ghz quadcore, 4 gigs RAM, ATI 5600 so its definitely not an obsolete hardware issue, and FMLE isn't using up much of any of my system's resources. I'm trying to broadcast a 640x480 chunk of my desktop at 24fps and 800 kbps.
I've tried playing around with all the settings in FMLE and VHScrCap, and installing every FMLE version i could get my hands on, to no avail. Please help, I'm about to start breaking things...

OK, I figured out the problem. Turns out it was an issue with the VHScrCap. I found this little japanese program called SCFH that does the same thing, only it actually works for me. Thanks anyway guys.

Fontexplorer X Pro 4 opens fonts even when just clicking on file in finder?

I need to find out how to make it open fonts ONLY when I OPEN a file. Right now it opens them even when I just click on a file in the finder.
Does anyone know how to change that? The people at Fontexplorer take 4-6 WEEKS to get back to me on anything. I've given up asking there.

You said that you - removed the Contextual Menu Items folder from Macintosh HD/Library/ Items folderThis implies to me that you no longer have any Contextual Menu Items folder in that location. I would recommend that you create and name an empty folder "Contextual Menu Items" and put it back in the location where you removed the previous folder.
Have you recently installed an application that has a contextual menu item? If so, as I said in my previos post, you may want to uninstall/reinstall that application.

Files are updated even when not touched in months

date modified is updated for all folders--
The files in some folders (documents) are updated as if they had all been truly worked over in some substantial way, even when they have not been touched in months. This happened to my laptop and now has spread to my desktop at work. Help. At times, it has taken processing power away from the machine to do the updating.
eMac Mac OS X (10.3.9) laptop was ibook running jaguar

mine has started to do the same thing. I have reset the nano 3 times. When I turn it off the "charged battery" icon stays on though the light is off. I plugged it in to the computer and had to reset for the computer to find. After leaving it plugged in for a few hours I unplugged and tried again. Still says "charged" all the time.
I could try a hard reset...., but has any one else experienced this?

Not able to copy files to HD even when plenty of space

Hello, please help! I need to work out how to transfer something back to my HD from an external HD.
I temporarily transferred my APerture library (129 GB) to my external hd to create space while I tidied up my Itunes library, which is now tidy, whic enabled me to free up more space. I now want to put my Aperture library back, but even though there is lots of space on my HD, Finder is telling me there is not enough space to allow Aperture library to be copied to the HD. Strange!
In one place (finder) it tells me I have 330GB+ spare, and in another (About this Mac) there's approx 260GB.
I have run Disk Inventory X and deleted mobile backups, and various others, I just can't understand why it would not let me bring my APerture library back.

you might want to look at the configuration for the TFTP server to make sure write and create options are permitted, and the obvious one that a TFTP server is running on the PC.
Please check : flash doesnot have enough memory or?

Buttons trigger continue even when just Show/Hide (captivate 6 windows 7)

I have a simple image button that is designed to act as a close button for a modal popup window in Captivate (Constructed from a smart shape and a caption box).
The button uses the "Hide" method to hide a target Group. This works fine, but I have noticed the button is also triggering the playhead to "Continue" also.
It seems that a button I have a "Show" action on also behaves this way. I don't want the playhead to continue, I just want to Show/Hide the objects on the slide. Is there a way to achieve this without haveing the playhead continue, resulting in going to a new slide?

I'm not so sure this means more maintenance, because the advanced action needs only one statement and can easily be duplicated and edited. For simple actions you also have to select the action (Hide/Show) from the dropdown list, then choose the object using another dropdown list. If you count the number of clicks, this means about the same work. I have explained this important difference about releasing the play head between simple and advanced standard action in a blog post and a YouTube tutorial:

Perhaps you could even save time, but then I have to know if this 'group' of objects is different on each slide or the same? Or are some objects the same? A toggle button is also a possibility, in Captivate 6 you can have shape buttons timed for the rest of the project or on a master slide, which is not possible for the old image buttons.

Reverting to an old version of FF worked!!! WHOOHOOOOO!!!!!!

A client has given me her old CS3 discs saying there are spare users on it. I've tried to run but the wizard cant find photoshop even when I browse to the correct folder.

Could it be looking for an older version of photoshop than I have as it is looking for previous versions? I actually wanted to do a fairly lengthy trial of InDesign to see if I can get on with it and don't want to use the 30 day creative cloud trial as my broadband isn't up to it, and I will run the danger of losing work.
I tried shortcutting to disc 2 which is the InDesign disc but it wouldn't accept the serial number from the back of the box as a valid InDesign serial number. I'm assuming that its not a shortcut I can take. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong here, or is it a simple case of the users/license not being deactivated properly. They are currently using CS5 in site so I guess its possible that they have upgraded all users on the license, but she didnt seem to think so. I'm not certain she knows exactly whats supposed to be done, and to be honest neither do I, so help would be great! Thanks very much

Leofwinewulfhelm the Creative Suite serial numbers can only be used with the Creative Suite installers. If you invoke the separate installer for InDesign on Disc 2 then your serial number will not be accepted.
Please try installing using Disc 1 and running the installer from there. You can then choose to only install InDesign if that is what you wish.
Finally you can verify if the serial numbers for CS5 is an upgrade serial number or not by viewing the serial number under your account. Please see Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html for information on how to locate your serial number. If Creative Suite 5 is an upgrade then it is likely it was upgraded from Creative Suite 3. This would mean that the Creative Suite 3 license is now being utilized to allow the running of Creative Suite 5.

LabVIEW 7.1 reports an application error 'instruction adresses memory at 0x00000000 - ... could not be written' when finishing LabVIEW, even when not running any private code

I have found similar Qs here, but this one is _somehow_ different.
My quite large app (>600 VIs) uses some DLL calls to communicate with medical devices. It runs OK, AFAIK, even when started several times. BUT I get an error message each time I when finishing LabVIEW 7.1 (even when just having loaded the app!!!). The error message states that "The instruction at 0x778cca36 adresses memory at 0x00000000. The process 'written' could not be done on that memory. Click to close the app".
Any clues?
My system: Athlon64 3000+ with 1GB of RAM running W2k German with all availabel SPs, LabVIEW 7.1 English with all support files from the devellopr suite May05 edition. System was set up 2 days ago on a fresh PC. The old system showed the very same behavior.
My opinion is, that simply loading an app and than removing it should not cause such an error??!!

I can't look at your code because I don't have LV 7.1, but I would recommend searching on the side of the DLL.
Do you have the source for the DLL? Can you be sure that the DLL doesn't somehow have a memory addressing bug? The DLL will be loadsd as soon as the program is loaded AFAIK, so maybe when unloading the DLL an error occurs because something isn't initialised properly. I've never programmed a DLL, so I may be way wrong, but my instinct tells me that the problem will most likely be with the DLL.

Why does file picker unexpectadly closed by Windows message keep hanging Firefox 4 when trying to browse destination folder for download?

Whenever I try to download a file, Firefox 4 asks me to choose a destination folder, then when I browse and choose the folder for the download, Firefox just hangs, and I get the file picker unexpectedly closed by Windows message. I end up having to use task manager to close Firefox.

The post I was responding to said,
"Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps. "
Somehow, I think that means Windows...
I've tried Firefox in Safe Mode - it makes no difference.

Motion 5 Hangs (beach ball) when selecting a movie file in File Browser

Using the file browser in Motion 5, select a movie file (any type of movie file) Motion hangs. Even occurs when trying to select a folder that contains any movie files. After selecting a movie in about 30 seconds the clip details will appear at the top of the file browser, but the video is never displayed in the small preview window. No problems when selecting any pictures or audio files. Also, can drag any of these same movie clips with the Finder into Motion and they play with no issue. Any ideas?

Primarily have HD footage that uses the H.264 codec and SD footage that is DV NTSC. Also, have clips I have created with After Effects and rendered out as mov files using the Animation Codec, all have the same problem.
Further, did not have this issue until after migrating to Lion, all was good with Snow Leopard. But, I can't say that the problem started immediately after the migration. Did not use Motion 5 until about 2 days after I did the migration.
This is on a Macbook Pro 17in, early 2011, 8GB memory, AMD Radeon HD6750M

Are you asking how to use Photoshop?
Or are you asking for the dimensions of video iMovie uses?
It edits in 720P HD, which is 1280x720.
You can make it a bit bigger so you can zoom in.
Much bigger then this is a waste of time.
