Acrobat freezes up after being open approx 14 seconds

Here are the issues that I  have found with my version of Adobe Acrobat:
Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0
Windows XP
Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 Issues:
After about 14 seconds, the Acrobat Pro 9.0 locks up.  The only way to stop it is to end the program.  There does not seem to be one thing more than another that causes the lockup however, in all instances but one or two, the program locks up around 13 to 15 seconds after a file is opened.
Printing using the Adobe PDF printer will lock up the program that you are printing from.
When trying to uninstall the program from the "Add or Remove Programs" window, the Acrobat Pro 9.0 uninstaller window disappears and does not appear to be doing anything.  The "Add or Remove Programs" window then becomes locked and unable to be used, selected, or closed.
The only way found to remove Acrobat Pro is to download the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool.
Removing and reinstalling the program does not fix the errors.
Thanks

There are several steps that can be tried. However, a lot require the Add/Remove option to be functional. There you can repair an installation. At this point, I might suggest you download the updates (AA9 is at 9.5.2 and you show only 9.0) and install them in order. There is a chance that will resolve the issue. This is particularly important if you are on a x64 system. The updates are available at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. If you go the root of uninstalling again, then before a reinstall do 2 extra steps: 1. run the cleaner utility for Acrobat (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) and 2. totally remove the Acrobat folder from your system. Then reinstall. You should be logged in as the adminstrator and turn off anti-virus during the install.
If you could open Acrobat, I would suggest you do the updates from the help menu since they are cummulative. However, since you can not keep it open, the other update route may be needed.

  • Can anyone help me with why Facebook keeps disappearing after being open for 30 seconds it goes back to my icon screen.

I Have added and deleted Facebook, I have changed my password. I even got a new phone. Nothing works. My ipad worked for most of Sunday but now it will not stay on.

I don't have a 4G device, but I thought you can use mobile safari, the safari on the iPad, on 4G.
You could also try looking for a third party app. The official facebook app has been non to barely functional for years. I use mobile safari on my iPad although I do have a couple  of apps I've used upon occasion.

  • All applications close after being open for 1 minute.

Recently, all applications I open on my Mac close after being open for 1 minute.  Safari and Microsoft word do not stay open for longer than 30 seconds.  Prior to this, my computer would freeze and eventually applications would close. I'm not sure why this is happening or how to fix it. Does anyone know what could of happen for everything to close after opening it? Any help would be great, thanks!

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer.
Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
    Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
    Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk.
    Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963 and restart your computer.

  • Mail will not mark messages as read after being opened

Mail will not mark messages as read after being opened... the blue dot will NOT go away, no matter how many times I open the e-mail.
It's a simple pop account. I AM able to mark messages read with the message menu item (mark as read.) I also have nothing synced with it, no iPhone, no IMAP accounts, no .mac account, nothing.
But this is a real pain to have to do manually, when it used to happen automatically upon clicking the e-mail, it opening in a window to read, and then closing it.
All was working fine up until the 10.5.7 update. I hoped the 10.5.8 update would fix the problem, but no change. Everything else is working perfectly (I do the permissions repair/disk verify procedure before and after each update.)
Can't seem to find anyone else with this problem in here either, through search or just going through hundreds of messages.

    Okay, then lets try this:
    1. Select all your messages in the Inbox; then use the contextual menu or the Message > Mark menu to mark them all as Read.
    2. Quit Mail.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Mail and delete the Envelope Index file.
    4. Restart Mail, wait for the index to rebuild and retrieve any new email you might have, and see if the problem contineus. Hopefully it will not.

  • Why does Firefox close after being opened for too long with no activity?

I need to leave an image loop playing on my computer continuously but the internet browser seems to time out after being opened for more than 14 hours. Is there a way to keep my internet browser opened with out activity for as long as I choose?

This is not a cure but will make it easier if Firefox locks up.

From what I have been reading from other posts on this forum, the
issue may be caused by the clear history settings. It was suppose
to have been fixed in v30.
Press the '''Alt''' or '''F10''' key to bring up the tool bar.
    Followed by;
    Windows; '''Tools > Options'''
    Linux; '''Edit > Preferences'''
    Mac; ''application name'' '''> Preferences'''
    Then '''Privacy'''.
The button next to '''History''', select '''Use Custom Settings'''.
At the bottom of the page, turn on '''Clear History When Firefox Closes.'''
At the far right, press the '''Settings''' button. Turn on ONLY '''Cache''' and
'''Form And Search History''' leaving the others off.

    Hi
From the crash reports I see you use a very old version of Firefox. It's more than one year old. You should upgrade and see if the problem is solved.
You can find latest downloads here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ If you can't use update within Firefox (Check the about Firefox in help menu).
Edit: just noticed you that you have old OSX, so you can't update Firefox. :(
(only OSX 10.6 – 10.9 can have the latest Firefox)
    Edit2: Found this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/751524
Only a clue but do you have file sharing not disabled?

Anybody got a clue why acrobat wont work after cloning entire computer to a new hard drive?
I 'repaired ' the installation and rebooted twice.
Acrobat just shuts down after 5-10 seconds.

Mavericks is free but a jump from 10.6 to 10.9 might break a lot of other software (particularly if running any PPC-only generation software) which could be costly to replace.  Yes, it will have to be done someday but if the OP's computer holds out a few more years then the OP will have saved buying all the Mavericks generation software that will be broken when OS 12.2 comes out and can make the jump directly.
So says somebody who still runs a G4 with iTunes 7.5 and is not looking forward to the day it dies and has to buy the "newest and best".

  • Acrobat freezing when PDFs are opened

Acrobat XI Standard is freezing and not responding in Windows 8.1 when I try to double click to open most PDFs. This does not occur when I go to File>Open and navigate to their location to open them, and it does not occur when I set all files to open in Protected View. Any ideas?

Did you update XI after it was installed. This is an important step for Win 8.1. Use Help>Updates.

do you think an archive install might help this issue?
Probably not, I'm afraid. If it's confined to your user account, then transferring your user files over to the new installation - which is what an archive & install will do - will most likely recreate the same problem there as well.
Here are some general housekeeping procedures you can quickly do to get the more common causes out of the way. For starters, quit Safari and move the following files/folders to your Desktop, just for the time being...
          ~/Library/Safari/
          ~/Library/Caches/Safari/
          ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Now check if Safari is still unstable. If it is, then please make a list the contents of the following folders if they exist.
          ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/
          ~/Library/Application Support/
          ~/Library/InputManagers/

  • Why does my entire system freeze shortly after I open iTunes?

    Hi!
So I have OS X Lion installed on my new iMac 21.5" desktop. I don't know if I'm having an OS problem or an App problem here. Everything seems to run fine (a little sluggish at times though) UNTIL I use iTunes. Within a couple minutes of having iTunes open, the entire system freezes up. I can't do anything except for move the cursor around. If I wait around, every 45 seconds or so, it unfreezes itself only for a brief second or two and then freezes again. After waiting around for several minutes of it doing this, I can eventually manuever around to force quit iTunes.. OR I can simply turn the power off from the back of the iMac and restart... Either way, I haven't even been able to submit crashes to Apple to alert them of a problem. Once iTunes has been force quit, everything runs fine again. I have had this happen at least 15 - 20 times already and am very frustrated! Does anyone have a good idea what's going on here? Any suggestions of what I should do? I haven't contacted Apple about this problem yet.
Also, I've experienced this iTunes problem with both a small library (fewer than 100 songs), and with a very large library (1000s of songs). I usually won't have more than 4 apps opened at one time anyway as to not over burden my system.. So I don't believe I'm having a memory issue here. I've had this problem happen when my iPod was syncing, and when it was not even connected or turned on. I've tried several things including 1) reinstalling Lion, 2) resetting my iPod, 3) having all other items disconnected from my iMac, 4) I verified permissions and performed a disk repair in Disk Utility 5) turned Time Machine off & on... I haven't noticed problems with other applications.. other than once my DVD player froze up for a few seconds (along with the rest of my system) while on the dvd main menu. I really don't use many applications often and Lion is still new to me. So I'm not aware of having problems with other applications yet. Thanks.

  • MacBook Pro attempts to place a NON-EXISTING disc into its optical drive several times, immediately after being opened & woken up, every time...

About a week ago, my mother tried to place a DVD into my MacBook Pro while it was still closed & sleeping. Of course it didn't anything, but allowed her ignorant self to push the disc quite far into the disc drive. Once opened & woken up, the disc drive responded & operated normally, allowing my family to enjoy another great episode of Hanks & Speilberg's Band Of Brothers... UNTIL, the following day I opened it up & it began to make that "sucking a disc into its slot" noise, quite a few times before quitting... It hasn't damaged my MacBook Pro to my knowledge, I even put the DVD back in to insure that the drive hadn't been broken, but continues this process EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to open up & utilize my top-of-the-line Apple product. I've tried to restart/shut down my notebook, but this hindrance proceeds to linger. Also, I've began to worry that the amount of times the optical disc drive performs this mechincal process could cause future damage. Furthermore, it's a bit of a nuisance when trying to stealthly get on my MacBook Pro at night and end up waking up everyone... I have also upgraded to OX X Mavericks 10.9.1, could partake in the problem at hand? I would greatly appreciate suggestions & hope someone knows the direct solution to this problem!
Thank you for your time Apple Support Community, I truly appreciate it...

Damage was done when your computer fell.  Your warranty if you have one and Apple Care do not cover accidental damage.  Your only alternative is to take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.
NOTE:  If you are out of warranty and purchased the computer with a credit card, discuss the warranty issue with the credit card company which you purchased the computer with.   They are the only ones who can at this point cover the computer after it goes out of warranty with the manufacturer (Apple).
If you have Homeowners insurance, place a claim with them.

  • Email not showing up in mail after being opened in outlook on pc

My wife has a Windows laptop and if she opens our email first it will not show up in my mail list. It shows up fine in her outlook if I open it first on my mac. A friend said that there might be a setting on the windows pc to have the messages saved on the server after opening but I can't find it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks

Suggestion? Only the obvious one. You say, you can't find a setting in Outlook to leave a copy of the email on your server. Find it. She or you should be able to use the help wizard to find the answer. Or ask the Internet. I did a Google search and immediately had the answer. (The first one that popped up was http://www.madcomm.com/techtips/emailsetup/outlookleavecopy.html.)
But, if she deletes it before you read it, or vice versa... I'd move to using 2 email addresses were I you two.

  • Macbook Pro freezes up after I open lid

I just bought my Macbook Pro about a month ago, and recently whenever I open up the lid the computer freezes up. The computer doesn't respond to any actions besides restarting the computer. The screen isn't black,it's my regular display, but I don't know how to fix this problem.

It's said that only Intel drives are immune to this system snafu. Only can only wait until a system update remedies this problem. (FMI: is yours a SSD drive?)
I don't own your version of this MBP, but have you tried leaving your MBP asleep when not in use, and seeing if that is a temporary workaround? I always keep my unit asleep when not in use, to cut down on boot time. It would be great if you could post your results to this semi-fix, since I'm sure many others are going through the same thing as you.
