Acrobat Go to Previous Document bookmark

I use Acrobat 8.0 to hyperlink source to target documents. In the target document, I create a bookmark with the action View>Go To> Previous Document. If I click on the hyperlink in the source document, and then click on this bookmark in the target document without navigating to a different page in the target document, the bookmark works to return me to the Previous Document. However, if I navigate in the target document before clicking on the bookmark, the bookmark does not work and it does not return me to the previous document.
I also own Acrobat 7.0, and this feature works fine. It also works in fine in Reader version 7.09, but not in version 8.0 of the Reader.
I have put off purchasing Acrobat 8.0 because of this problem.
Any ideas on possible solutions?

Seriously...I will have to scrap hundreds of hours (and thousands of dollars) worth of work if there is no workaround for this. Worse still...I have no solution to duplicate the functionality of "Go to previous document" "Go to previous view won't work because if a viewer scrolls through fifty pages in a document, he would have to click "Previous view" fifty time to get back.
I don't understand how Adobe could go to all the trouble to come out with an "upgrade" that lacks the functionality of the previous five versions. What's going on over there?

8.0 "Previous Document" BOOKMARK Action

The "Previous Document" Command from the (Execute a menu item) BOOKMARK ACTIONS does not seem to work in either Adobe 8.0 (professional or reader). I have experienced the same problem, except that it only occurs if I move to a different page in the target document before selecting the bookmark to return to the prior document. The only solution I have found so far is to use Acrobat 7.0 or Acrobat Reader 7.0.9, in which the bookmark will work.
I called Adobe Product Support today to ask about the problem, but they could not help me because I was using the trial version of 8.0 (I already own 7.0, and will only update if this problem is fixed, so it is a Catch-22 situation.

View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Bookmarks (or click the Bookmark icon on the left). Use the Options menu.
I'd use Help > Adobe Acrobat X Help to view the Acrobat Help file. Search for Bookmarks.

Acrobat 9 will not import bookmarks from Word 2000

I have a customer who creates sophisticated Word 2000 documents including bookmarks. When converting to Acrobat using 8 professional, the bookmarks convert fine. They are there and point to the correct locations. She insisted that she needed 9 Professional because it handles creating text and check boxes much more efficiently, but 9 will not bring over the bookmarks from the very same document. Our current solution is to have 8 and 9 on the pc simultaneously, create the document in 8, then open it again in 9 to modify all the input fields.
This happens for all users, local admin or not. I have uninstalled, cleaned out the registry, installed, upgraded, used different profiles, etc. and the result is always the same.
What could possibly be causing this? I have checked all the bookmark settings from within Word, and they are all correct. I've searched everywhere, and apparently no one else on Earth is experiencing this issue.

Acrobat 9 does not work with MS Office 2000, Acrobat PDF-capable web browsers and PDFMaker-compatible applications (Acrobat 6.x - 9.x on Windows and Mac OS) .

Previous Document Navigation

Access to the previous and next document via the View - GoTo menus in Acrobat Reader version 9 no longer appears to be available.
Is this correct and if so why, as it is a retrograde step as some of my users are concerned?
Has anybody a work-around for it? Going back a page at a time is not a solution when you may have to click 50 times to go back - and then may not even get to the previous document.

HT2506 When I open the application preview why do all my previous documents pop up?

Hi I have a macbook air mountain lion computer and whenever I double click a picture it opens preview, however all the previous documents I've loaded before pop up too. Why is this happening? I only want that one picture to pop up on my screen. Is there a setting I can change?

Nope - restarting didn't help either!
well it seems inconsistent.
Starting word did get me just a blank document.
but starting excel (from the dock) got me 3 recent spreadsheets.

You can click on accept or buy ,which ever option you see on that dialog box.It will prompt you to type in your Adobe Credentials.You can license it by doing the same.
If it still doesn't work ,follow these steps and see how it goes .
Delete all the files from following folders:
[Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
[Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
[Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobePCD
Then launch Acrobat and try to activate and check.

Why can I not open some previous documents in Pages?

Help! I can not open previous documents in pages. It is instructing me to download the latest, when I do try, it tells me the most current has been installed? I still can not open the documents?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Will Acrobat Reader recognize an HTML bookmark as a named destination?

I have a Word file with bookmarks. I make a PDF from this file. How do I code an HTML link in a different file that will open the PDF at the location of a bookmark.
I asked a similar but maybe less precise question yesterday. The response I received had links to articles that described how to use a named destination. One article said a plugin was needed. The article was for Acrobat 7. I cannot assume readers will have the plugin. An article also described some steps to go through probably with Acrobat to identify the named destinations. This set of steps is not a direction I want to go either. I don't want to identify bookmarks everytime I reprint the file. Maybe the question I am asking is "will Acrobat Reader recognize an HTML bookmark as a named destination?"

In my HTML file is the following:

RevisionHistory is a bookmark I made in my Word file. The bookmark marks the section Revision History. The link above does not open LinkTestDestinationFile.pdf at the Revision History section. I do not have the plugin suggested in one of the articles mentioned above.

With Adobe Acrobat you can create named destinations.
Bookmarks and named destinations are not the same.

Inclusion of line items before previous document due date passed

Hi All,
I am having below mentioned scenario:
1. I am invoicing a consumer in Aug-14 with periodic billing order. Document is having due date of 10-Sep.
2. Further I am doing interim billing and invoicing (before previous document due date expired) with posting date say 05-Sep.
The recent document of 05-Sep is not including all line items of document invoiced in Aug-14.
How do we include Aug-14 bill line items in next invoicing.

If you are not using Integrated Account Maintenance, under "Item Selection for Bill printout (Subitems)" it should be as easy as leaving Open Items Selection restriction blank - meaning "All open items for contract acct (w. and w/o ref. to cntrct)", setting the "Interval days for the due date of items to be printed" to 999, and choosing the "Consider Items in Bill Sum Total" setting - once or always, I believe. If it doesn't work, I'd be looking at FQEVENT R410 FMs to see if the Items are passed that far.
<rant on>I can't to this day get how come so many Utilities (in my experience - all I've worked with) practice this "double" or even multiple billing of the same amounts (even if the amounts do not multiply in FI-CA postings, you have invoiced the amounts to customer multiple times). Or rather - nobody has been able to tell a valid and irrefutable reason, why things need to be done that way - it's usually "that's how we have always done it" reason. The accounting people don't even care that the previous invoice remains valid in the system (as long as their precious FI-CA postings do not multiply), because there is nothing in IS-U that automatically reverses or invalidates it... And I don't get why the regulators even permit it...<rant off>

Is it possible to extend or modify the deadline for an Acrobat Pro 8 shared document review?

No it's not possible to extend/modify the deadline in Acrobat 8 shared reveiws. These features have beed added in Acrobat 9. In Acrobat 8, the reviewers can add comments even after the deadline has expired. The review file can however be checked out of the review by saving a copy of the file using the 'save an archive copy' option under file menu(File> Save as archive copy), when the reveiw process is complete.

Script to navigate to next or previous document

Hi,
since CC it's impossible to assign the shortcut CTRL-TAB to "next document" and CTRL-SHIFT-TAB to "previous document"
what I found out is, that it is possible to assign these shortcuts to a script, so, if I had a script that go's to next document and one to go to previous document, I can assign those shortcuts to these scripts and my problem is solved (in a way)
So now I have two little questions,
1. how to make a script that takes me to the next document
2. how to make a script that takes me to the previous document
I know how to edit scripts, but scripting itself is like Chinese for me :-)

However, I was lucky with this pair of scripts in my limited testing environment:

Close all applications.
Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
From the drop down select Library.
Locate the folder named " Saved Application State".
Locate the folder named "com.microsoft.word.SavedState".
Move it to Trash.
Relaunch Word.

Basically I want to clean my 2009 Macbook6,1 as though I were selling it and start out fresh but before I attempt it I want to stash my contents (Files, Documents, Bookmarks, iTunes and iPhoto libraries to my external Hard Drive, all in separate folders to return them to Macbook after the full sweep and big overwrite. Can anyone help me?

That may not be the best approach (see below).
Format the drive for a Mac (see #1 in Using Disk Utility if you're not sure how).
Create the folders you want on it.
Open a second Finder window and drag what you want from one to the other.
If you only copy the stuff listed, you'll lose your AddressBook, Mail, Calendars, preferences, and probably all sorts of other things.
A better option might be to back up your entire system, either with Time Machine or one of the "cloning" apps. Then you can restore selectively from TM, or copy selectively from the clone.

The version is updated.
Noting to repair, the system is 100% running.

Hi Bruno ,
Could you please verify the Acrobat version you are using is the latest Acrobat DC or some older version ?
Does this happen with any particular PDF file or all the documents ?
If you haven' tried repairing your Acrobat ,please try the same and see if that helps .
For repairing Acrobat Launch Acrobat>Navigate to Help> Repair Acrobat Installation .
If that does not work you could probably uninstall the software and try downloading it again and see if that fixes the issue .
Let us know how it goes .
