Acrobat Goes a Bit Weird in the Head Bug [ again? :) ]

Ok, then. I open a document. The colors are a bit off.
Well, well.. here we go again.
I open the Acrobat preferences to check them.
They look ok, so I don't change them. However,
after I close the prefs window the colors change[1].
The thing is, there are two ways of closing the
window[2]. If I hit escape, the colors change.
If I click cancel they don't. Err... lol?
And I know what it is. If I've changed my monitor
profile, Acrobat doesn't sense it when it is run.
It only seems to notice when I hit escape as above.
Man, this program's had more bugs than an entomologist's
rucksack. I'm still in recovery after the "simulate black
ink" fiasco.
[1] I also click the document window. I think Acrobat
gets a bit sleepy, so you need to nudge it like this
once in a while :)
[2] Actually 3 if you include "Ok". But if I'm not
changing anything, I get a bit nervous about clicking
that. You know, just in case I inadvertently changed
some setting.

You can try two options... One is a reset of your phone. Since your phone connects to all other WiFi sources except at home, a problem with the phone can be ruled out. The other option is to reset your WiFi router. Mostly a reset button will be provided either on the back or underside of the router. Try resetting the router. You may have to key in your connection settings again. If that doesn't work, upgrade the firmware of your router. That might solve the problem.

Back up your iPad and restore it as new using iTunes. That seems to be the best way to run ios8 on an ipad2. It's still likely to be very slow and laggy but at this point you're committed so you don't really have another option.

I don't think it's normal because it connects to 4g without data on and then when it's on it goes to 3g until it reconnects to 4g..i don't know what to do!

No. You have no alternative but to plug it into a computer running iTunes and restore it.

Let's say I have three variables that represent the (numerical) results of three questions. I'm going to call the variables Q1, Q2, and Q3.
The variable for the total result is Result
So then I do an advanced action that has:
expression: Result = Result + Q1
expression: Result = Result + Q2
expression: Result = Result + Q3
Let's say Q1 = 1, Q2 = 2, Q3 = 3
In the flash version of my project, Result = 6 as expected.
In the html5 version of my project, Result = 123.
Initialising Result with 0 rather than null doesn't have any effect.
Looks to me like the flash version is treating the variable Result as a number, while html5 is treating it as a string.
It seems to me that the fact that variable types aren't declared in Captivate gives all kinds of problems. Captivate is taking a stab at the variable type and getting it wrong. Why can't we just declare variable type when we're initialising like you would in "proper" programming?
(As well as having a whinge, if anybody has a workaround I'd be extremely grateful.)

My (quite new) MBP's monitor looks a bit pinkish, and the black test goes red when I scroll. Why?

I said it all in the header. All the screen components that usually look pale grey look a bit pinkish, and the inages and text discolor when I scrook. This is especially noticeable with text, which goes from black to dark red and back to black when scrolling stops.
I usually use the MBB with a separate monitor, so I hadn't noticed this until today and don't know when it started.
I suspect this means a defect in the display.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Hi Jay,
Be aware that "Freeze Header Rows" and "Freeze Header Columns" apply only to rows and columns that are Header rows or Header columns. You can have up to five Header rows, Five Header Columns (and five Footer rows) on a Numbers Table.
"Header rows" is a special designation. Besides being able to be frozen, Header and Footer rows are not included in formulas referencing whole columns, making it possible to place formulas such as =SUM(B) at the top (or bottom) of column B without causing a self-reference error, These designated rows are also not included in sorts of the rows in a table.

Nothing in the Acrobat 8.x product family is compatible with Windows 7 (or any contemporary OS).
The Acrobat 8.x product family passed into End of Support way back -- (November 2011).
The current release of Acrobat (XI) is compatible in Windows 7.

After you install the Acrobat X 10.1.10 update on 64-bit Windows 7, the Acrobat context menu choice is corrupted on Windows Explorer.

Apparently this is a recurrent bug with updates, e.g. some people had problems with an older update too (Acrobat X context menu missing | 64-bit Windows 7)
Running: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat Elements\ContextMenu64.dll"
reports success, but nothing changes, the Windows Explorer context menu still shows blanks for Acrobat/no text (though clickable and launches Acrobat) Other context items are fine.

Sometimes, after its been going quite a long time. a Firefox window top bar goes weird, and the window controls at extreme top right disappear, making it impossible to resize or close the window. The only solution I have found is to individually move the tabs to a new window. The original (bad) one then disappears as soon as the final tab is shifted.

I have a 24" mid 2008 imac when i plug the head phone jack into my stereo i have a hum that never goes away.

i have tried grounding both the head unit and also the computer it self and all i find is the noise is still there. what can i do to get rid of the noise? i think the problem is in the grounding of the head phone jack it's self but i dont know. has any one else had this same problem? thanks for your time.

How did you confirm grounding? How old is your house? Does it have 3-prong outlets? If not, there's no guarantee they are wired right even if they are the ones with one wider prong slot. If they are 3-prong, that's still no gurantee they are wired right. You would need one of the below to be sure. Just trying to save a lot of troubleshooting of devices when it could be your house wiring.

Is there going to be a way to add DOCTYPE to the header?

I notice that HTML pages exported from Muse do not have a DOCTYPE in the header. Will this be added in the future or is there a prefered way to add it by hand in either Dreamweaver or Notepad?
Seems like an oversight.

Yes, I wasn't very clear in my question, sorry. When I created a page I was expecting to this code:

Trying to position a form in the header using CSS - not working right in IE

I am making my first foray into CSS-only design (no tables), and it’s going pretty well – except for one thing (so far). If you look at this link in Firefox http://www.daveblaker.com/clients/jenslist/indexTEMP.htm the “Search Archives” field appears where I want it (in the pale yellow area of the header, to the far left). If you view it in IE6 – it ends up more or less in the center and up a bit. I've tried placing the form inside the header div, outside the wrapper div, etc. Any help would be appreciated…

Please check if there is Event ID 9017 and 9018 in the application log, make sure the MRM works well.
Please make sure the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Assistants service is working well.
And you can increase the diagnostic logging level for the MRM, then you can monitor the events in the application log.

There's a maximum size for the header-I need more room

This is a weird one for me. I am making a worksheet for my students and I'm making them in sets of four so they can work together. About 2/3rds of each page is the same, with a list of different words at the bottom. So I want to put the top 2/3rds of each page into the header, since I need to make 10 sets of these.
But I can't. Pages won't let me make a header that goes more than about a third of the way down the page. Anything entered lower than that is cut off.
What's the point of this restriction? Forget that—is there any way around it?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter,
Don't use a header. Place the fixed text into a floating text box in a Pages word processing document.
Resize the box to fit within the document margins, and place it where you want it on the page.
Apply Wrap to prevent 'regular' text from sliding over or under the text box.
With the box selected, go Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master.
The text box (and its text) will appear on each page until you enter a Section Break. The rest of the page will contain whatever text you enter in that area.
