Acrobat Hyperlink Troubles

I'm creating a CD that's based on a PDF document that has hyperlinks to content elsewhere on the CD. I have PowerPoint slides, PowerPoint slideshows, MP3 files, an installation file for MS PowerPoint Viewer and other PDF files. There is no difficulty in launching the MP3 files and the other PDF files; but the PP files, either type, are not launching even after the PP Viewer has been installed on a computer that has no installation of any application in the MS Office Suite. The error boxes claim 'no file association', yet when I separately launch the Viewer and point to the files on the CD, they are displayed. Thus I reason it is not the fault of the OS or the Viewer, rather it is something that I haven't done for the primary PDF file that is preventing the display. I'm open to suggestions, comments and criticism.I'm creating a CD that's based on a PDF document that has hyperlinks to content elsewhere on the CD. I have just looked at your site on a Mac in Safari and your navigation bar shows up on every page of the site.
I see that it is quite close to your header image and if text boxes or shapes overlap, they will not always work. Could be that it was hidden by the image.
Seems okay to me though.

  • JS/CS3 hyperlinks trouble: finding a hyperlinkTextDestination

    I'm having trouble finding a hyperlinkTextDestination in a document.
    According to the reference I should be able to refer to a hyperlinkTextDestination by using:
    myDocument.hyperlinkTextDestinations.item(myLabel);
    This statement returns an invalid object.
    I also tried to iterate through the collection of hyperlinkTextDestinations to find the item with my label. Like so:
    for(i = 0; i < myDocument.hyperlinkTextDestinations.length; i++)
    if(myDocument.hyperlinkTextDestinations[i].label == myLabel)
    myDestination = myDocument.hyperlinkTextDestinations[i];
    This is not working either. I did set a label to the hyperlinkTextDestination. When this label is encountered myDocument.hyperlinkTextDestinations[i].label == myLabel evaluates to false!
    How to solve this problem?

    Hi KvD
    For hyperlink destination you should provide a string (i.e word or character or insertion point) not a frame. After getting the frame label you have to catch textframe's text then add any one of the above said string. May be this will help you.

  • Problem with Acrobat Hyperlinks to packaged PDF's not working when moved to PC platform

    Hello,
    I'm having a little issue with the new Acrobat CC.
    I have a master PDF presentation that includes Hyperlinks (set up in Acrobat) that link to external pdf files (packaged in a sub-folder from the source PDF file).
    On a number of macs they work fine, opening in Acrobat / Reader. But when transferred to a PC platform the link clicks but none of the files are opening.
    I'm geting no dialogue boxes or error messages, just does nothing.
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Matt

    Second question: I can't seem to link an image that I inserted on a "My Photos" template page. There is no way to select the image--when I do, it just shows the "blue box" around the image but it doesn't actually select the image itself so I can link it.
    This is correct, you cannot make the image holders hyperlinks. The solution is to put a Shape over the top of the image that you want to be a link, then Opn Inspector, Graphic Link and make the Opacity 1%, no more no less. Then make this shape a link. Beware that this image will still display in a slideshow and if you insert more images and it moves, the shape will not move with it.
    You may also want to click on the shape and then go Arrange > Bring to Front.

  • InDesign CS5 - Hyperlink Trouble

    This should be the easiest thing to do but I am having a great deal of trouble accomplishing my goal. I have a map of the United States with prevelance numbers overlaid as text boxes on each state. (i.e. Tennessee has a text box centered on the state with 12pt '66.5') I am trying to create hyperlinks for each state that work on an exported pdf. The goal is for the numbers on each state to link to that state's health department. Does anyone have tips on the best way to accomplish this? I have attempted working with text anchor, new hyperlink, new hyperlink destination, but am doing some thing wrong. When I export the pdf, I can roll over a text box and the cursor turns into a finger pointing, but the link does not work.
    Thank you for your help,

    Should be a hyperlink and its matching destination. Can you give us a screenshot of the hyperlinks windows, please?

  • Acrobat hyperlink to PPS?

    Hi, new to Acrobat; in the meantime while learning Flash:
    I`m assembling an Acrobat Portfolio of text, films, images noise; so I suppose a simulacrum of a click/point display: is there any way to create a hyperlink from an Acrobat text-page to a Powerpoint Presentation, or do you just have to create folders with the PPS in?

  • Hyperlink-trouble after upgrade to CF 7

    Hello
    I am currently editing an old CF site where the host have
    gone from CF 5 to CF 7 (without warning =). All hyperlinks with a
    CF attribute have stopped working for some reason, let me clarify:
    from an SQL like this: (code is rewritten )
    <cfquery name="Course" datasource="CompanyDB">
    SELECT CourseApp2.*, Course.*, CourseDate.*
    FROM CourseApp2, Course, CourseDate
    WHERE CourseApp2.CourseMember_ID = #CGI.QUERY_STRING#
    AND CourseApp2.CourseDateID = CourseDate.CourseDateID
    AND CourseDate.CourseID = Course.CourseID
    ORDER BY CourseStart
    </cfquery>
    there is a CF out as follows:
    <CFOUTPUT QUERY="Course">
    <TR><TD><A
    HREF="../Course/Course.cfm?CourseID=#CourseID#">#CourseName#,
    #CourseCode##CourseDateCode#</A></TD>
    The way the hyperlink is constructed doesnt work, and an
    error stating that CourseID is undefined ( the ?CourseID=#CourseID#
    part of the link)
    It doesnt work where the link is made like this either:
    <A
    HREF="../Course/Course.cfm?CourseID=#Course.CourseID#">#CourseName#,
    #CourseCode##CourseDateCode#</A>
    that is, stating which CourseID you want to use, on those the
    error: CourseID is undefined in Course is thrown.
    It works however if you select CouseID from Course as an
    Alias in the select statement and use the alias in the link.
    This old site has been working fine with this sort of
    notation, has something changed up to CF 7, that have made this
    erroneous? Since i havent written the original code I am reluctant
    to change it before I know whats wrong.
    If you have any ideas or suggestions please reply
    Regards
    Torbjörn

    I would rename your query, so that the cfoutput statement
    will know what you are referring to, something like:
    <cfquery name="getcourseinfo" datasource="CompanyDB">
    SELECT CourseApp2.*, Course.*, CourseDate.*
    FROM CourseApp2, Course, CourseDate
    WHERE CourseApp2.CourseMember_ID = #CGI.QUERY_STRING#
    AND CourseApp2.CourseDateID = CourseDate.CourseDateID
    AND CourseDate.CourseID = Course.CourseID
    ORDER BY CourseStart
    </cfquery>
    THEN:
    <cfoutput query="getcourseinfo">
    <A
    HREF="../Course/Course.cfm?CourseID=#CourseID#">#CourseName#,
    #CourseCode##CourseDateCode#</A><br>
    </cfoutput>
    Let me know if this works.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 - trouble converting Word Doc to PDF

    I currently have Adobe Acrobat 8 and Microsoft Office 2007. Everytime I try to convert a word document or powerpoint to Adobe PDF, the application freezes or says not responding. How can I fix this?

    At this point my best recommendation is to go to the help menu in Acrobat and do a repair (you can also do that from the add/remove programs menu in the control panel). After that, you may want to do updates to AA8, though I already mentioned the updates. I am assuming your XP is a 32-bit system.
    You should be able to test Distiller by applying it to any PS file. Normally I suggest creating the PS file by simply printing to the Adobe PDF printer with "print-to-file" selected. The printer creates a PS file this way. However, you are indicating this step does not work as I understand it and that would suggest that Distiller is not the problem. If you were successful with the print to file and the problem was at the Distiller step, then that really suggests the need for a repair and possibly and update to fix the Distiller problem.

  • Hyperlink trouble in JEditorPane

    Hi all,
    I am having real trouble with getting a simple HTML document up and running in JAVA. WHY did they make it so HARD?
    I want to be able to use internal links, e.g click here to go to top of page etc.
    Now apparently I need to add a HyperlinkListener to the JEditorPane. In the code you'll see that i've commented it out. If its left in i get
    DisplayHTML.java:61: addHyperlinkListener(javax.swing.event.HyperlinkListener) in javax.swing.JEditorPane cannot be applied to (DisplayHTML)If i change the start class to:
    public class DisplayHTML extends JFrame implements ActionListener, HyperlinkListenerI get:
    DisplayHTML.java:14: cannot resolve symbolAnd even if it did work there is still a mass of code that needs to be implemented for the internal links to work. grrrrrrrrrrrrr for a language that is meant to be excellent on the web it has poor support for HTML.
    If anyone can shed any light on this I would be grateful. Many thanks

  • Acrobat download trouble

    My Acrobat XI Pro would not open properly, so I chose to uninstall in hopes of starting from scratch.  However, each time I try to download the app from Cloud, my Applications Manager informs me that Acrobat is already downloaded.  What can I do?

    Run the Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool. Download link and instructions here http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html.
    The Install link for Acrobat should then be enabled again in the Adobe Application Manager.

  • Trying to set a hyperlink when text wraps to next line

    I'm trying to set a hyperlink in InDesign. The URL text wraps to the next line. One time this worked fine and the link was correct. For two other instances, it did not work. When I checked the link in the PDF file, it only "grabbed" the first portion of the hyperlink address. Anything after the first "/" was lost. Is there a way to make sure the entire URL address gets included in the hyperlink? Thank you!

    Acrobat has trouble autorecognizing URLs that break across lines. You ned to create a "real" hyperlink from the text in ID, then include them in the export. If you don't know how to do that, see the Help.

  • Creative Cloud Acrobat XI error 16 remove/reinstall popup

    I have upgraded from Creative Suite 6 to Creative Cloud and since I did I am getting a message everytime I open a PDF where Acrobat gives me a popup that tells me to remove and then reinstall Acrobat. Trouble is...In the Creative Cloud control panel there is no way to do that. I am venturing a guess that I do not need to go to my system's Add/Remove programs interface.
    FWIW...I have an i7 3730 Intel laptop with 32GB ram, 1.5TB hd and two video cards so I know it's not underpowered or that ram is full.
    Ideas on what to do?
    Thanks
    john

    Just an update to this post. First, I'm on a Windows computer with OS7.
    After Deactivating and uninstalling all creative suites from 5 to 6, removing Acrobat Reader, and running the Creative Cloud Cleanup Utility and the Adobe Acrobat Cleanup Utility, I was still receiving these errors messages. I tried a bunch of stuff from tech support suggestions and nothing worked. I finally stumbled upon a Microsoft post which solved my problem. Here it is:
    For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again.
    Note: I had come across something like this in another post but they said to "rename" the folder and I was unable to do that, (even in safe mode) but I had no problem moving the RSA subfolder to C:\

  • PDF/A-1b compliant PDF from InDesign exported PDF

    Hi folks.  I need to produce a pdf/a-1b compliant pdf from an InDesign document and it is giving me fits.  Because InDesign offers no native option to export pdf/a-1b compliant files, I have been exporting my document with the available presets (I've tried all of them), then running the pdf/a-1b conversion in Acrobat.  However, this conversion fails every time, usually on font subset and colour issues depending on how I set up the initial export from InDesign.  The only way I have managed to get a file to pass the conversion is to export from InDesign, save that pdf as images, rebuild the original pdf from the image files, then run the pdf/a-1b preflight from Acrobat.  Trouble is that this results in a serious loss of resolution that I can't have for my purposes.  Anyone have any ideas on how I can produce a pdf from InDesign that will pass the pdf/a-1b preflight in Acrobat?

    You have to do it in Acrobat Pro after PDF export.

  • Sep 2011 issue of YOU INSPIRE out now

    Despite last Friday's acrobat.com troubles, which pushed our press day from Friday to Saturday, the September 2011 issue of YOU INSPIRE (luxury fashion supplement to the UK's YOU magazine) went live, along with an updated version of its app, on Saturday night.
    The app and magazine content are free, so please go ahead and have a look. The September issue is about 380MB - that's 100MB more than last issue - but I put this down to having even more full-screen photography from more fashion shoots, additional product pages, and no less than 14 embedded videos (9 editorial, 5 advertising).
    With respect to the problems last Friday, when it proved near-impossible to use Folio Builder and completely impossible to download folios to Content Viewer on an iPad, I would like Adobe to look again at its external network performance for DPS pre-publishing via acrobat.com. As has been reported in another forum comment, green lights were showing for acrobat.com while DPS was inoperable to a whole bunch of us outside the US. Being told 'everything's fine here', or that there was a minor problem for 'a couple of hours', or that one of my articles was 'corrupted' and causing the problem, wasn't helpful when my colleagues and I found ourselves unable to use DPS for at least eight hours on Friday.
    That said, the download performance of the published folio is fantasic at the moment, especially with the ability to start reading almost immediately after the download begins. I'm relieved but also very pleased at how it's turned out, and my appreciation goes to the various members of staff at Adobe in Europe who had to deal with my increasingly insistent expressions of concern through the course of Friday afternoon and evening.
    Ali

    congratulations to another full blown edition of YOU INSPIRE with so many
    cool feautres.
    And bringing that through while acrobat.com was down — extra bonus!
    Wish you all the best!

  • Acrobat 9 and Internal Word Hyperlinks

    I currently have a Word document that contains many hyperlinks and bookmarks. A majority of the hyperlinks in the document link back to bookmarks in the document so that you can click on a link and it will take you to another location in the document. When I use PDF Maker in Word 2007 or even create a PDF from a file in Acrobat 9, I lose all of those links. This also includes the Word created links for the Table of Contents. Is there a way to create a PDF, but retain those hyperlinks?
    Thanks,
    Merg

    I finally figured out how to add the TOC bookmarks to a PDF.  One of the reasons this was so challeging is that I moved up to Microsoft Office 2010 from Microsoft Office 2003 which used to convert the hyperlinks automatically.  Add to that the fact that I can not access the PDF add in options without Office 2010 freezing, it proved to be a hard task.   Also, if you try to print with the adobe printer, these options are not available.  You must use the Create PDF/XPS document to find the options until there is a patch.
    Here are the steps:
    Adding TOC from Office 2010 to PDF 9
    When you are ready to convert your document, go to the file tab.
    On the file tab, select Save & Send.
    Select Create PDF/XPS Document.
    Look below where the file format bar says PDF.  You will see a box that says Options.
    This is where you add the word TOC and convert them into PDF bookmarks.
    Under the name Include non printing information, check the boxes Create Bookmarks Using & Headings.
    I hope this really helps you out.  I also was having a hard time with the TOC.  It would have been trouble adding each of these one by one.

  • I am currently having trouble with an attached PDF fill-able form created in Acrobat being non savable in Reader

    Hello, I was wondering if you would be able to help me out?
    I am having trouble with my attached PDF fill-able form, I am creating a form that has a limit of one page so in order for more room in a certain field I have added a Hyperlink to an additional fill-able(secondary) form within the Parent document (primary fill-able form. The secondary form is inserted as an attachment into the Primary form. My problem is when I open this document up in Adobe Reader, the Primary fill-able form is savable but the attached Secondary form for which the hyperlink leads to is non-savable and is a must print only. Is there a way to make the Secondary form savable as well within the same document? or is there another way I could execute what it is I am trying to achieve?
    Trying to save other as extended reader has not worked, also if I save the attachment file as an extended reader first I am unable to attach a return hyperlink back to the Parent document,
    Help would be greatly appreciated please and thank you!

    I can't say for certain without looking at the actual PDF but it does appear that they created one large text box over multiple lines. For a fillable form it may have been smarter to remove the lines and create a box with smaller text that supports multiple lines.
    At any rate, nothing you can do about it with the free Reader (and depending on the security, maybe nothing with Acrobat either.)
