Acrobat is generating pdfs in which text can't be selected

Adobe Acrobat Pro X version 10
My first thought was that the ability to prevent copying of text was enabled. I looked at the security settings and that setting wasn't checked. I used a pdf cracker to remove the security settings and still could not copy text. I used the pdf cracker to remove the security settings from protected document that wasn’t generate by my software and it worked: I could copy text. I concluded this is not a security setting issue.
I noticed selecting text only creates "box" selection as if it isn't identifying the letters as text.
Anyone have any ideas?

I would suggest you to run optical character recognition and see if that helps, please follow the steps mentioned below:-

Acrobat produces a PDF with bold text redacted

Printing a Crystal Report from a Citrix server to Acrobat Pro XI on a Windows 7 desktop. Bold text in the report is redacted (black box).
If I print the same report from my Windows 7 desktop to Acrobat Pro XI then the bold text appears as it should.

I checked the font used in the Crystal reports (there are hundreds of reports) - the reports use Arial Unicode MS Regular (ARIALUNI.TTF) and the Font embeddability = Editable (whatever that means). The same font is used for bold and normal text - the normal text is fine but the bold text is redacted or blacked out.
At this point I'm out of my area of expertise.
I confirmed with my client that they are using pdfFactory and it works well using the same reports - go figure.

How can I generate PDF bookmarks for change bars?

I want to generate PDF bookmarks for text that is marked by change bars when I save as PDF from structured Framemaker 7.1. That way the proofreader can go directly to the pages that contain change bars and proof only that text.

It is also possible to generate PDF bookmarks for change bars through FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers + Presentation Assistant, as follows:
Change bar has to use a unique color, with a known RGB value
A PDF layer is created automatically based on the specified RGB value, containing all change bars (layer can be set as initially hidden and/or as a non-printing one)
A generic bookmark can be created automatically for each change bar. Since this is not related to the specific text being indicated, the bookmark text has a user-controlled label, optionally autonumbered (eg "Change Bar #1", "Change Bar #2", etc).
After setting the different parameters above, the process is entirely automatic (results are present as soon as the file is Save as PDF or distilled into a PDF).
If this approach is of interest, I can set up sample FM + PDF files.
A different approach -- based on custom markers inserted, with unique text and note attributes -- resulting in Quick-Access Bookmarks, is discussed/demonstrated at http://www.microtype.com/ImprovePDF06.html .

Acrobat Distiller.app can't be selected when printing to Adobe PDF 9.0

When trying to print a word 2004 doc to Adobe PDF 9.0 ( using the Adobe PDF 9.0 option from the Printer drop-down list within the print dialog box - I have CS4 Design Premium installed including Acrobat Pro 9) I'm asked to locate my copy of Acrobat Distiller in a dialog box. I point it to the correct location. However Acrobat Distiller.app within folder Applications>Acrobat Pro 9 is greyed out and can't be selected. How do I get round this?

I would be inclined to run a repair disk permissions first and if that doesn't help then I would reset your printing system. Note that this will remove all of your current printer queues so if you have a number of network printers in the list it would be handy to make a note of their network queue, which you will see via the Print & Fax > Options & Supplies > General pane shown as URL.
To add the PDF printer queue back, you will need to make the Advanced icon appear in the Add Printer pane. To do this, open Print & Fax and click to Add a printer. Control Click on the current toolbar (next to More Printers will be fine) and select Customize Toolbar. Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Now click the Advanced icon. After a few seconds this pane will become active so you can select the Adobe PDF 8.0 (pdf) in the Type column. Every other column will autofill so leave them as they are except for the Print Using menu, where you will have to open, click 'Select a driver to use' and then type Adobe in the search window. This should show the 'Adobe PDF 3016.102'. Select this and click Add to complete. Now try printing with this new Adobe printer to see if the error has stopped.

PDF Form with Text in Particular Font

I have created a Certificate of Completion in CS4. It is 8.5x11 and, among other things, has a TIFF certificate background and border overlaid with text. My customer wants a PDF in which they can type two pieces of info: the name of the awardee and the date. These go in different places and in different fonts and sizes. How do I create such a PDF so that only this info can be entered, and entered in the correct size, font and area?

Basically, you need to create a pdf form.
Add a text field to your form.
There you can choose which font your want the text to appear in.
The trick is, when you export from InDesign, in the "Advanced Tab" — set "Subset fonts when percentage…" to 0%, so the whole font embeds.'
I believe there's an option in Acrobat to embed the font as well, but I'm not recalling what it it.
But that will ensure the font appears correctly.

One way is to use SSRS. You may embed a query and it generates the report which you can always download as pdf, excel etc. Look up on the net for this - that shud probably solve your requirement!!

Generate PDF file in SharePoint 2013

Hi,
I have a requirement to create .pdf file while one item is submitted to list/library in SharePoint 2013.
It means when employee inputs his/her data and after submit one pdf file will generated with the summary/relevant data.
Can any one help me to figure out this scenario.
Is it possible with SharePoint out of box feature?

you can not achieve this out of box, custom development with integration of 3rd party controls is required to generate pdf files. There are paid components available but i will suggest you to use iTextSharp which is a free open source library to generate
pdf files.

Generate PDF (BI Publisher) through APEX_PLSQL_JOB.SUBMIT_PROCESS

Hi!
Oracle 10.2.0.4 32, Apex 4.0.2, BIP 10.x Win.
I have to generate cca. 1000 reports in PDF (some customer bills) through BI Publisher print server.
PDF is defined through "Reports queries" and "Reports layouts" directly defined from Apex env. Report template is Word RTF file. Report query has one parameter:
and R.BILL_ID = :G_BILL_IDRunning from App page process it is not acceptable to do that because operation should takes hours and user cannot have open freezed browser.
So I found out "APEX_PLSQL_JOB.SUBMIT_PROCESS", which submit process in "job" as background process.
On page I left just "SUBMIT_PROCESS" call:

END;and put the whole logic in package. Small problem was to change Apex item (Application item), what I solved and change with:
APEX_UTIL.set_session_state(p_name => 'G_BILL_ID', p_value => cur_array(i).B_ID);for every record in cursor (I know his is not optimal but I just wanted to get working demo).
Call from package procedure is like (slightly modified from Apex page process which was working!):

print_one_report (cur_array(i).B_ID);
close cur;where "print_one_report" is mine procedure which saves PDF in db (proc was the same as before when was working but with too long result).
Unfortunately then all generated PDF reports (which I save in database) has 0 bytes length (I call the same procedure called as before when reports were generated but from Apex page process directly).
Seems that "G_BILL_ID" is no longer having correct values ... like session problems.
How to achieve and fix that (generate PDF from cursor) or is there any article how to manage BI Publisher printing with APEX_PLSQL_JOB.SUBMIT_PROCESS?

Here is one way that you could get a background job to create your thousand reports (4 steps).
1st define your report query and layout within APEX (and BI-Publisher builder - Word plugin).
2nd write a custom process to call apex_util.get_print_document to generate your 1000 reports and place them in a blob column.

4th write code to retrieve the report data from the blob column and display or distribute to users.
I've never called the apex_util.get_print_document recursively like this before so I'm not sure how it will perform. There are 4 versions of the get_print_document API so use the one that best fits your needs with performance in mind.

Generating pdf output with webhelp look and functionality not like a print documentation

Hi I have been using robohelp webhelp for our company online help documentation. Can I generate pdf output which has the same look and functionality as that of webhelp, using robohelp??

Welcome to our community
While you may certainly generate a PDF that contains the same information, it likely will not look exactly like WebHelp and it certainly will not behave as WebHelp.
WebHelp is intended for on-line use while the PDF is really intended for printing if one chooses to.

I found the classes the DocumentHelper class is found in
oracle.apps.xdo.oa.common.DocumentHelper
The properties class was in java.util.properties
I compiled the code and when i run it i get the following exception
