Acrobat link - open in Firefox

I have Acrobat 8.3.1. Firefox is my default web browser. When I click on a link in an Acrobat document, after getting the Security Warning:
The document is trying to connect to
http://____________.com
If you trust the site, choose Allow. If you do not trust the site, choose Block.
When I click "Allow", Safari launches and the link opens there. I want the link to open in Firefox. How can I do that?

Go to Safari then Preferences and choose default Web Browser Choose FireFox. save change then quit Safari.

Okay so if I click on a link in MSN or another program, it is opening in firefox instead of Safari. I have Safari set to my default browser too. If I uninstalled Firefox, the link is dead.
    Just need some iput. Thanks

Well I've found out the problem. Safari doesn't show up in the Default Programs settings in Control Panel. Firefox and Internet Explorer are in there and are set for all the "FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, and GOPHER" file types. Can't be changed to Safari unless anyone has some ideas.
I tried changing the default to Internet explorer and it changed it as expected. So Safari just needs to show up in the settings somehow.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

  • The tab: how to make web links open in Firefox cannot be deleted only closed each time I log into my browser....

The above tab cannot be deleted, it comes back each time I log in.

You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • How do I get a website to open on firefox from my email?

I have Internet Explorer. I just downloaded Firefox. An online store that I shop at regularly sends me emails. When I click on their link from my email it takes me to their site through Internet Explorer. How do I get the link from my email to open through Firefox?

Usually links in other applications* will open web pages in your default web browser. To have Firefox make itself your default web browser -- if it doesn't ask you when you start it up -- you can follow the steps in this article: [[How to make web links open in Firefox by default]].
Does Windows comply or resist the change?
''*'' Just to clarify: applications other than a browser, which handles links on its own.

  • Links not opening in Firefox

I'm running Acrobat 8 Standard and recently installed Firefox 3.6.  Links in PDF documents are now opening in IE, even though Firefox is set to be my default browser.  I've looked for a setting that controls this but there doesn't seem to be any.  Is this a new problem with FF 3.6?  I'm not having this problem with any other software containing embedded links (MS Office, Outlook, IM, etc.).
This only happens when I'm running Acrobat standalone.  When using the Firefox plug-in links open in the same FF tab.
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Hi!
Is Mail the only external app that has that problem?
I remember having a similar issue and that was caused by an add-on who was messing up with the Firefox behavior.
If this is the case, you should see the same behavior when opening links from other apps.
To resolved, you have 2 options. Either use Firefox Reset ([[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] ) or try to use Safe Mode ([[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]] ).
Firefox Reset will reset the majority of your Firefox settings (including the add-ons) while keeping the most important information safe (Bookmarks, etc). In the other hand Safe Mode will allow you to test Firefox with a clean profile and then it will allow you to disable all the Add-ons. If that solves the issue, you should activate the add-ons one by one until you find the one it's causing the problem.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Acrobat PDF links open in Safari

In OS X, with Acrobat CS4, I read a PDF article with a link to an online PDF file. This was opened inside of Safari, even though Firefox is my default browser. How do I change this behavior?
(I would have thought that Acrobat would open up an online Acrobat file in itself!)
    Thanks,
    Jim

Because they don't FireFox, and SeaMonkey are the most popular Web Browsers on the Macintosh Platform. and for some reason Adobe doesn't know how tow handle Gecko based rendering engines, and stick with rendering engines called WebKit; which are not any faster at rendering web pages. They don't realize that any Gecko base Web Browser can render any and all web pages (except those with Active-X, unless they have a plug-in), whether for using WebKit, or Gecko in Mind.
I've railing to Adobe about this for years. But it falls on deaf ears.
You have to remember adobe provides product for the Mac platform, even though they originated on that platform, out of of resignation , that they must. Than a real desire to create applications that work on any Platform. Adobe along with others tow the line of the 800 pound Gorilla (MS), rather than catering to need and desires of customers. Even if you put suggestion on their suggestion (feedback page) as soon as they see its from a Mac user it goes in the bit bucket.
The regular That answer question can deny it all they want but they know in their heart of hearts, they are true.

  • Hello, how can i modifie in the options, aplications, Adobe acrobat document, open with Adobe acrobat (in Firefox) instead of open with portable document format (default). Thanks

I can'T open pdf links in another page, because in options, aplications i have in Adobe acrobat documents open with portable document format (default) and i must put open with Adobe Acrobat (in firefox) default.
Where can i change the default?

All you now have to do is use that variable to the value property of your text field... So add this at the end of your code:
    this.getField("Conference_Option").value = ConferenceOpportunity;
Also, I would use MouseUp, not MouseDown.

  • When clicking on links that open in a new window, the links don't open and Firefox freezes in a way. I can navigate the page I am on but cannot click to open a new tab or bookmark.

When navigating the internet, if I come across a web page that has a link to open a picture or program in a new window, if I click on it, it does not open. Firefox immediately looses functionality in that I cannot open a new tab with the mouse wheel, right click to open a new tab, or use my bookmarks in either the drop down or toolbar to navigate away. I can usually still navigate the page that I am on, for example, (https://loanconsolidation.ed.gov/AppEntry/apply-online/appindex.jsp), when it freezes I cannot click on any of the content at the center of the page but I can still use the links from the list on the far left. For an example of the pictures, (http://www.insect-sale.com/), if you click on "New Arrivals" at the top of the page it takes you to a list of products that can only be viewed by clicking on them. Usually a picture of the item would open in a small window but it does not and Firefox freezes. This has also happen when I try a view a degree audit on a school's website where a program would usually open in a new window. The only thing I have been able to find that still functions properly when this happens is the home page button. I can click on it or use the wheel to open it in a tab just fine, but if I try and go anywhere else I cannot. The only way I can get Firefox back to normal is to use the Task Manager and end the process. Another thing I have noticed, that may or may not be related; is that my Norton Internet Security toolbar, that should show up below the bookmarks toolbar and above the tabs, only shows up about 1 out of every 10 times I open Firefox. Some days it doesn't show up at all. If it does show up and I log into Identity Safe, the autofill for the programed website works, even if the toolbar doesn't show up the next time I open Firefox.

    Go to Tools->Options->Apps
Here you should see two columns: Content Type on the left, Actions on the right.
Find and select excel spreadsheet or any other content type in the left column. There should be a corresponding action in the right column. What is it? You can use the drop-down list to select the option you want:
Always Ask - Firefox will ask each time: What do you want to do with this file?
Save file - Firefox will save this file to your computer
Use - Firefox will give this file to the program to open it
In case of saving, Firefox will either prompt you every time where you want the file to be saved, or save it to the default location. It depends on the preference in
    Tools->Options->General->Download

  • When I click on an active link from another application, it opens the firefox application, but won't open open the page - it just opens Firefox or takes me to Firefox. No new tab or window is opened and the link is not displayed.

When I click on an active link from another application, it opens the firefox application, but won't open open the page - it just opens Firefox or takes me to Firefox. No new tab or window is opened and the link is not displayed.

Firefox sent an email to me to confirm that I had asked the above question. The email had a link to click. When I clicked it from Firefox, nothing happened. Then I opened IE, signed into Comcast, opened the email, clicked the link, and it brought me here.

I have the same problem, and I also wondered if Google toolbar has anything to do with it. There GMAIL was set as the default mail application at first. I have removed that setting, but Firefox 4.0.1 continues to use GMAIL instead of Outlook which is my selection for mailto handling.

  • In Mac Mail 4.5, how do I set preferences so that when I click on an email link the webpage opens in Firefox instead of Safari?

I want to click on a link in an email and have the webpage open in Firefox instead of the default which is Safari.

    Hi roundabout-
I was able to see links in Mac Mail 4.5 open in Firefox. I had the Firefox application open, and when I clicked a link in the mail client it opened correctly. I'm sorry if this is not helpful. Is Firefox set as your preferred browser?
