Acrobat not responding mac
I have Adobe Acrobat Pro version 11.0.10 on OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and I've had issues with my acrobat not responding for a while now on my mac. I've searched the forums and have tried purging the temp files in preferences, I've even uninstalled and re-installed. I also read something about installing a font manager and moving fonts but I work as a designer and I have things set up the way I like them, I'd rather not move around my fonts. What do I have to do to get Acrobat to open a pdf and respond? Thanks in advance.
Hello evancic,
Please refer the KB doc link mentioned below and let me know if that helps:

Hope to hear from you.

Acrobat 'not responding' while exporting a pdf
I am attempting to export my physics notes into a PowerPoint format. However, the process stops and Acrobat is 'Not Responding.' I just downloaded Acrobat today and need these notes for tomorrow. Is there any troubleshooting that I can do?
As a quick possible solution, I would suggest you print the PDF to a new PDF. Then try the export on the new one. This is not normally considered a good route, but it might solve the problem in the short term. Also, be sure you have installed the updates (from the Help menu).

Acrobat not responding when saving
I use Adobe Acrobat X and Windows 7 (incase that makes a difference). Everytime I save it hangs and then it says "not responding" and if I leave it long enough it will recover and save. It happens everytime I save a file, doesn't matter how big or small the file is, or where I get it from, if I download it from the internet or create my own. Does anyone know how to fix this?
You might want to try to empty the TEMP folder to see if that is part of the problem.

Major delays when I launch Acrobat X (Acrobat Not Responding)
I have Acrobat X (and Adobe CS6) installed on a relatively fast Windows machine. When I click on Photoshop, Illustrator, etc they launch within 2-3 seconds.
When I click on a PDF file, Acrobat X launches immediately but then it stops (the Acrobat window fades and I get an "not responding message") for as long as 60-120 seconds. After the delay, everything is fine. If I close the existing PDF file (not terminating Acrobat) and open another PDF file, all is still fast and OK. But if I close Acrobat and re-launch another PDF file, the same behavior is displayed.
Based on my initial observations (but I cannot clearly pinpoint it) it may be related to my wired and wireless connections. I am not 100% sure, but may be when the wireless adapter is enabled, this happens. Both my wired and wifi connections are very stable and steady.
Any thoughts? This has been quite annoying.Hello,
Try the following steps,
- close all Adobe applications.
- Navigate to :
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat
- You can also navigate by Typing %appdata% into Run command window.
- Rename Acrobat folder to Acrobat.old and then try to launch the program.

Application Not Responding - Mac OS X Lion & CS5
I keep having issues with my DW CS5 (11.0 Build 4993) & Mac OX Lion. I bought a new MacBook Air and installed DW CS5 on it, I did all the updates too for DW, but I'm having issues with it freezing and then crashing and not relaunching. I do some simple change on a website and the application freezes and says Application Not Responding. After force quiting I try and relauch and I get the green welcome screen like it's launching but then nothing comes up and it says Application Not Responding (ANP). I've tried restarting and sometimes that will make it so it actually launches completely but then after a while it starts up again with the ANP. I considered that maybe the MBA wasn't quick enough, but I think it's plenty powerful for doing DW. When I got back to my iMac at home I started to have the same issues after upgrading it to Lion. There seems to be an issue with CS5 and Lion. Any ideas?
Thanks,
CodyCS5 was a fresh install on the MBA, on my iMac it was a fresh install as well (but back when I got the iMac a few months ago and was still using SL). I do have extensions on my iMac, but not on my MBA so I don't think that could be the cause (although I may try it and see). I usually would have Firefox, Safari running as well. Sometimes Photoshop and iTunes would be running too. If an error message does pop up it's usually the Mac's "Application Quite Unexpectantly" is that the type of message I should try and provide to Adobe?
I don't believe a specific action invokes the freeze/crash I've had it happen when I try and open an HTML page, when I try and save an HTML or when I try and select text to make a text change. I'll try and note exactly what I was doing the next time it happens, it seems to be speratic but very annoying cause it can take a few times of force quitting and relaunching to get DW to open back up.
Thanks,

Imessage internal error on start up/not responding - mac
Hi,
Unfortunately I'm having another problem, this time with the imessage application.
When I open the app, the imessage window does not open up. When I double click the application it says "application not responding" I then force quit. One forcing the quit I try reopening the app, the same thing happens again!
I changed the preferences for the app to open at login, so when I shut it down and reopen it 'has to' open. But this does not happen and a message appears 'internal error' or something like that and then it quits on me and suggests I reopen the app. I did reopen it the same issue still occurs.
The only time the app opens is when i get a notification of a message from the notification centre, I click to open. It only opens up normally after like 15 minutes of waiting and works fine. But when i quit the app the same original problem occurs.
Looking forward to any suggesting
Thanks

Back up all data.
Quit Messages if it’s running.
Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
Caches/com.apple.Messages
Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with any of the following strings:
com.apple.iChat
com.apple.imdsmsrecordstore
com.apple.imessage
com.apple.imservice
Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup. -
Liquify preview not responding mac os x 10.8.2
When I activate liquify, there is no feedback in the editor/preview window. The blue OK button blinks as if its refeshing... but nothing ever happens---even if I wait for several minutes and even if its a simple lo res file.
If I click OK, the effect is applied to the original image.
I have read other posts and tried deactivating "use graphics processor" but no change.
I have a 2010 12core macpro and the ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
I cannot seem to find info on ATI mac drivers--assuming there is a needed update. But from what i understand, graphics drivers are included in the OSX installation and updates.
Any help would be great. I lean on this tool a lot.Make certain you do not have the Show Background checked and Opacity set to 100%. This can cause the problem you are seeing.

Acrobat not responding.
Hello, I've just bought the latest Adobe Acrobat and can't for the life of me download the program. Or if I am doing this properly, I can't run the program. I'm on an iMac using the latest Yosemite running system. Any thoughts on this would be great.
If you can open Acrobat and go to the help menu, then run repair. If not, you will have to go to the Control Panel>Programs & Features and do the repair.

System Preferences not responding Mac OSX10.7.5
System preferences on my MacBook Air, running Mac OSX10.7.5, will not open properly. It opens on Desktop & Screensaver / Desktop and gets stuck trying to load the images in this area. The only images are the ones that come with the system. This has been like this ever since I chnaged the desktop image to Pink Forest. So i have no acces to any options under the system preferences, can't load printers, nothing.
Can anyone help with a fix please.Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Try deleting the Desktop settings file. Open Finder, select Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Preferences. Then, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart. Finally, you will be able to change your background in Desktop & Screensaver -
Photoshop CC 2014 not responding mac
I have installed Photoshop CC 2014 on my new Macbook Pro Retina. On launch of the application it will load but as soon as I do anything (change tools, try to make new file, etc..) I get the spinning beach ball and the program freezes. I have to force quit to get out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. Nothing seems to work. In fact I have Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects installed (all 2014). And Illustrator is the only one that works. After Effects doesn't make it past the splash screen (loading mediacore). Very frustrating. Attached is a screen shot of my Macs specs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I would then look at Folder Permissions:
In the Finder menu click and hold on the GO menu. Hold the option button and the User library will show up. Click the User Library.
In that folder go to Preferences and find the Adobe folder.
Right click on Adobe folder and click Get Info.
In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names.
All should say Read & Write next to them.
Unlock the lock, switch them all to Read and Write.
Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "Apply to enclosed items".
Then lock the lock again. -
Calendar not responding (Mac OS 10.8.1)
I recently updated to Mountain Lion and have been trying to access my Calendar. However, when I open the calendar, all is fine. As soon as I click to advance to the next month or do anything on the Calendar, it shows "updating" and never updates and then it becomes unresponsive. I changed (I think) the language settings if that makes a difference using the terminal but I do not know what else to do. Please help!
Apple Menu>force quit> iCal.
Under System Preferences>iCloud, unclick the calendar check box. Then reclick it. It worked for me. Good luck.
I only have Snow Leopard, so I don't know if it is the same problem with your iCloud as it was for me, but it sounds like what was happening ot me. -
Have never been able to get this application, adobe acrobat dc, to work on my mac. Constantly goes into "application not responding" mode. Happen to anyone else and know how to fix it?
Hi Nicholas,
Verify if Protected View and Enhanced Security are Off. Go to Acrobat-> Preferences -> Security (Enhanced):
Also having too many fonts active can hurt the performance of any application.
Try the step 10 of the KB: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-fonts-mac-os-x.html

"Update server not responding" when trying to update Acrobat 9 Pro
I just installed Acrobat 9 Pro on my desktop computer and on my laptop. I was able to download and install the latest updates to the copy on my desktop computer (so that it is now version 9.3.0), using Help>Check for Updates.
When I try the same command on my laptop, I get and error message that states "The update server is not responding, which means it may be offline at the moment, or the Internet or firlewall settings may be incorrect. Please try again later." I tried several times yesterday and today with the same error. The message pops up immediatley; it doesn't even seem to actually try to connect.
I disabled my firewall and antivirus software and still get the same result. I uninstalled then reinstalled Acrobat and still get the same result.
I looked online at Adobe.com to see about downloading and installing the updates manually, but it's difficult for me to tell which updates I need. Some are for other languages and some are for 64-bit but I have Windows 7 32-bit.
A call to tech support was no help. The agent seemed to think because I installed verison 9.0 that I only needed the one English update listed on the download page under 9.0, and not any of the later updates. . . And he said that Adobe recommends manually installing updates from Adobe.com rather than using the Check for Updates command (?!).
Anyway, does anyone know what might be causing this problem with the adobe updater? Maybe I need to reinstall the updater (where do I find it?).
OR
Can someone tell me which of the updates listed on the Acrobat dowload page I should manually install to bring my product up to date?
[Running Windows 7 32-bit on both machines]
Thanks.Hi,
Which version of Acrobat do you have ?
(Launch Acrobat and Go to Acrobat->About Adobe Acrobat menu item and check the version )
Also, can you ping following urls ?
armmf.adobe.com
armdl.adobe.com
ardownload.adobe.com
Are these urls reachable ?
Also, you can check the contents of host file /etc/defaults/host to see that none of the ips are redirected.
One more thing that you could try:
If you have firewall on, could you please disable the firewall and then try the update. Does it works now ? -
I've had issues with my iPhoto "not responding" and as a result I am attempting to save my photos to an external hard drive using iPhoto library Manager but each time I start the program it saves some, and then when it starts iPhoto, iPhoto then goes into not responding mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2. I have completed all of the photo library first aid steps several times, but it makes no difference, iphoto eventually goes to "not responding." Initial issues started with Time Machine back ups stopping because of iphoto. Thanks......
Do you have a back up?
If you're just trying to recover the photos you can do that much more simply:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals' or 'Masters'. (varies according to the version of iPhoto)
Your photos are inside - these are the originals as imported from your camera.
