Acrobat PDF Portfolio - Not Saving my Welcome Page or Header

For some reason, I can't get my Welcome Page or Header to save when I'm creating a PDF Portfolio.
What am I missing? It shows up fine when I create it but then I save and close and reopen and they aren't there...
Please Help!

You don't mention a version, but this may be a known issue if you are in 9.4. Take a look at the thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/793948 and see if the situation you are experiencing sounds similar and if the work around posted by Josh_Corey (toward the bottom of the thread, posted Jan 31, 2011) resolves the problem.
Please let us know either way.

I’m not sure what you mean by not saved, but if you expect to copy a current translated page into a new page, and inherent the translation in the new page, the answer is NO, it’s not saved.
Adding a new page to your application, even by copying an existing page, is a major change in your primary language application, which create multiple new independent elements in your application (after the page has been copied, there isn’t any link between it and the original page). You need to re-seed the primary application, export a new XLIFF file, and translate the new <trans-unit> that were added to it.

Acrobat XI pdf portfolio not working

My download of Acrobat XI from Creative Cloud does not seem to be fully functional. I want to create a pdf portfolio and after I add some pdf files and click create, it tells me I need to download a version of Flash Player which supports Adobe (R) and Acrobat (R). The link this message provides "Proceed to download page" does not work. The window in Acrobat XI Pro becomes totally black and I can't create the portfolio. I downloaded the latest Flash Player separately and tried again but the same thing happens. I read somewhere that I might need an earlier version of Flash Player - can some one please advise the best course of action here?

The recent update to Acrobat X Professional also breaks the ability to view PDF Portfolios. It wants me to install Flash, despite it already being on my machine. Funnily enough, this update removed Flash from within Acrobat instead using Flash that is already installed on the machine. Re-ordering pages in Adobe Acrobat PDF Portfolios

Hi,
Sorry for not posting this in the Acrobat forum but that forum seems to be a much less attended one and I end up having to wait much longer for an answer. I figured people with expertise in InDesign probably have some with Acrobat as well.
I have created a PDF portfolio using Acrobat XI and added multiples files (PDFs andj jpgs) into it. I brought them in by selecting the files from their original source folders on my computer. As you might imagine, the files do not then appear in a particular order I want them to be in because the files were not named in order originally and didn't think that was necessary...because I thought you could renumber them in Acrobat.
I have tried renaming/renumbering the files in the both the "Name" and "Description Name" column within the "Details" view, which has worked a couple of times but mostly does not. I've also tried dragging the different pages in front or in back of others, a method I have read about online. It looks like it's going to work (I get that white vertical bar with a small horizontal bar at the top and bottom showing it's moving places) but then the page does not stay where I've put it.
Can someone please explain how to do this?

Adobe Acrobat X Pro: Create PDF Portfolio not previewing Word docs

Concise problem statement:
Word documents won't preview on an Adobe PDF Portfolio, while other Office documents (Excel, PowerPoint, etc) will. It only shows a Word icon on the preview and you have to double-click the file to open it on actual word. This is not the way Acrobat is supposed to behave.
NOTE: Adobe Acrobat 10.1.2 (latest version) and Office 2010 Suite w/ SP1 installed.
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Create a PDF Portfolio
2. Add Word (.doc, .docx) files to the Portfolio
3. Click on Preview and you will see a Word icon instead of a thumbnail preview.
Results:
You will see a word icon
Expected results:
A thumbnail preview of the document like it happens with Excel, PowerPoint, etc...
Can you guys reproduce this error? What do you think?

Those files should be previewed and not just display a thumbnail with a Word icon.

risscand: I have workers that are unable to save and they are seeing an "aaa04916" type file in their working folder. This is causing us to lose work (because we are unable to save over the original file) or send out incomplete documents.

Mudassir: To re-write the PDF which is saved on network, the users need to have complete access. If not, they will get the save as option and they can save that PDF file on their local drive

Adobe PDF Portfolio - Preview Mode Displaying Incorrect Pages

I have created a PDF portfolio using the “Grid” template in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. The Portfolio contains three pdf files. I am getting the following problem when I open the pdf Portfolio in Adobe Reader X and XI and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI.
Open the PDF portfolio
Click on pdf3
Preview mode displays the correct document and pages.
Close the preview of pdf3
Click on pdf2
Preview mode displays pages from pdf3,not pdf2 (see screenshot below).
Some observations:
If pdf1 has two pages, and pdf2 has ten pages, pdf2’s preview contains pdf 1 (pages 1-2) and then pdf2 (pages 3-10).
If I continue to open pdfs the preview contains pages from all the pdfs I have opened in the portfolio (this depends on how many pages the document I am currently previewing has). It is not just caching the last pdf opened.
Preview mode always displays the correct NUMBER of pages (i.e., if there are ten pages in a pdf, there will be ten pages in the preview. They will just be the wrong pages).
Turning off local page cache (preferences > page display) does not fix the problem.
Adobe Reader is up-to-date and Flash is up-to-date. I have replicated the problem on different computers, and in Adobe Reader X and XI, and Pro XI. I have also created muliple pdf portfolios from scratch to confirm the pdf portfolio itself wasn't corrupt.
Does anyone have an idea what is happening? Users are getting very confused when their preview shows them a completely different document.

We have the same problem. Everything's up to date. Adobe needs to address this issue!! The portfolio feature is a great idea, but this glitch basically ruins it. If you come by this page with the same problem, make sure you leave a reply. Maybe Adobe will actually pay attention if there are enough complaints.

Troubleshooting Adobe Acrobat PDF Portfolios and Flash Player

Urgent Issue. We have a large number of corporate reference files in Adobe PDF Portfolios, created in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
(1) Since Adobe moved the Flash Player to a separate stand-alone app, the contents of the existing PDF Portfolios are not visible or accessible.
(2) I created a new PDF Portfolio to troubleshoot the problem. After adding files to the Portfolio the files are not visible either. Adding the same file a second time triggers a message that the file already exists, but the file is not visible in any of the layouts.
I get a message that I need to have Adobe Flash Player as a separate app when I open existing PDF Portfolios and it provides a link to the download page. But my computer already has Flash Player 11 installed as a separate app.
How do I get Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat 9 to play together to restore the original functionality?

Please note that The Adobe flash player you have installed on your machien is different from the NPAPI version of flash player. So you need to have both of these versions of Falsh player installed on your machine.

PDF Portfolio not allowing a period [.] to be typed

I am working on a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.8 & using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.1).
I am trying to create a PDF portfolio consisting of a number of other PDF's of catalog work I have done for clients.
Everything is working fine other than when trying to edit the header of the PDF Portfolio. I have selected the "Logo & Structured Text" option for the header. This includes an area for your URL & Email. Though no matter what I do I cannot type a period in the URL or Email. For that matter, no field in the header will allow me to enter a period. It acts like a backspace/delete button.
All other characters seem to be working in the header & the pediod works in all other applications correctly.
Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening & how I can fix the issue? Thank you for any insight you have.

You're welcome. It is unusual to force all lines in a Paragraph to stay together, but there is no one size fits all rule to this.
More often, the keep option used would be Keep with Next, used for a Headline. It would be unsightly to have Headline at the bottom of a text frame and the text start at the top of the next column.

Modification to pdf files not saved in the original document

The modification to pdf files are not saved in the original documents (e.g. in My Documents) but a new file is created in Download\Adobe Reader and for every saving I do a new file (e.g. -1, -2, ..) is created. Is that normal? If yes, it is really annoying.

No, it is not a read only file and I can modify it. The problem is that the modifications are not saved with the same name in the original (e.g. in My Documents) folkder but in a different one (Download\Adobe Reader) and for every saving I do a new file (e.g. -1, -2, ..) is created.

ExecuteWithParams not working in welcome page

Hello everyone, I have build an application using ADF & JDev 11.1.2.3.0, When user performs a successful log-in he is redirected to the welcome-page of my application (lets say Page1). In Page1 I have some buttons that execute ExecuteWithParams operations. When I click in them nothing happens. It seems like no click was made. If I refresh the page and click again everything works fine. Does anyone know why does this happen? Thank you

It seems strange and looks like with out refresh the action is not being invoked. Can you create a all new .jspx document and try , am sure it will resolve

Livecycle ES4 could not access CQ welcome page

I have installed Livecycle ES4 on Linux following the install guide provided. I was at the step of verifying Post-deployment tasks. All the following web browser URL worked except URL below.

Weblogic AdminServer and Managed Server are running Active. Livecycle deployment are running Active for "adobe-livecycle-native-weblogic-x86_linux","adobe-livecycle-weblogic" and "adobe-workspace-client". Livecycle installation on Linux Red Hat 5.9 with Oracle JRockit 1.6, Weblogic 10.3.6, Apache OpenOffice 3.4 and Oracle Database 11gR2. Any comment/input are welcome.

I can not access the welcome page

After i installed oracle application server soa suite 10.1.3.1.0 ( soa_windows_x86_101310_disk1) successfully . I want to access the welcome page of oracle application server control
by going all programs -->oracle(instance name)--> oracle application server control
It said Page can not be displayed
then i went to c:\productz10.1.3.1\OracleAS-1\install\readme.txt to check hostname and port number which is correct (http://localhost:8888/)
i typed in the browser manually ,but it still showed the page cannot be displayed.
after that, i was using command prompt to check status of the process
c:\productz10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\opmn\bin>opmnctl status
it showed only OC4JGroup:default group -->process status: alive
but i could not see the http server process
and still was trying to start the oracle http server and it seemed useless i did not how can i access the welcome page and access to the application server control

Which install type did you choose? If you chose Custom, you may not have installed OHS at all...
