Acrobat PDF Printer don´t work

When I choose File->Print->"Adobe PDF Printer" from any application (i.E. "Ai") I get following two windows. The first Window will disappear with 100%, but the second don´t and no file will be created?!!??!??!?
My system: Win7 64 and Adobe CC (Acrobat XI Pro)
Can anyone help me to fix this, please?
Used CS5 a few days before and it does the job.

You will need to manually create using the link tool or if you're lucky
(and the destination URL is spelt out in the text) use Advanced /
Document Processing / Create from URLs option.
The PDF Maker on the Mac does not work the same as Windows ...

  • Acrobat PDF Printer Hangs in Windows 8

I am running Windows 8 Enterprise RTM  64-bit on an Intel i7-3770 3rd gen CPU, Z77 chipset. I've found that most PDF printers I have been using on Windows 7 now hang on 8, including the Acrobat X printer (latest version). I have found one free alternative that works fine, but would like to get back to using the Acrobat printer. Will Adobe be releasing an update that addresses the hang?
Above is a screenshot afterr more than ten minutes:

    Hello All
I have been struggling with this same problem of Printing to Acrobat PDF driver freezing up not only the print spooler, but also the software I was printing from, on Windows 7 64Bit, using both acrobat 9.4 and Acrobat X with the same freeze, stall lockup result.
I think this is the same problem you are having.
I found many questions about this online but no useful answers, and alot of fingerpointing trying to blame different programs and combinations of software.
The 1 solution, which created a PDF and did not freeze, was to switch of the choice of a saving location in the PDf driver and setting a fixed PDF save location instead of the ASK for location option.
This worked but was a real pain having to move and rename the file each time.
This got me thinking that there was actually nothing wrong with the PDF driver.
The problem seemed to be the user input to save the file to a certain location.
I then experimented and found that if I was fast enough with a file name, that the save to location option did not freeze up when creating the PDF.
By repeatedly trying to print and looking at the print dialog box I noticed that after a count of 5 seconds the Acrobat PDF print driver progress box greyed slightly (Asif loosing focus) and after that happened there was no hope of a successful PDF.
The 5second timer got me thinking about a windows timeout, rather than a PDF option.
    PDF Print Freeze Problem Solution:
Windows 7 64 bit (And I assume Windows 8 too) has a default program timeout of 5 seconds after which Windows considers a program to be NOT RESPONDING.
The time during which the PDF printer is waiting for a response from you for a save location, is seen as inactive by Windows and Windows decides that the Print driver has stalled.
Something then changes anough to effect the driver, and once the PDF print driver is allowed to carry on and save the PDF it can't anymore and stalls.
Solution is to edit the HungAppTimout in the Windows Registry, and set it to something like 20000 to 30000 = 20 to 30 seconds.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc978614.aspx (Info regarding the Registry Key)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\HungAppTimeout
This then give you 20-30 seconds to select a save location for your PDF.
In my case (Windows 7 64bit) the Registry entry was missing.
I had to create it from scratch and reboot.
    If ENTRY IS MISSING:
Goto the folder in the registry
Right Click  - NEW - STRING VALUE
Name it exactly as above including CAPS: HungAppTimeout
Set the value to 20000 (For 20 seconds or more if you need it)
    Reboot Windows.
After that Printing to PDf with Acrobat works 100%.
Note this option also helped on my Windows XP PC.
I hope this prevents others from struggling as much as I did to fogure this out.
    Regards

  • Some PDF Links don't work

    Structured Frame 7.2, Acrobat 8.1.2
Some of my Frame xrefs work as links in PDF, some don't. All xref formats use elem rather than para, the jumps work in FrameMaker. These are the first PDFs we've created after moving to structured Frame. Any suggestions? Help please!

    Teresa,
This sounds like a long-time known bug in structured Frame which I think may carry over into unstructured Frame, I'm not sure. The bug is that some PDF hyperlinks don't work if you don't include the target in the PDF bookmarks. For example, if your xrefs target a Heading3 element, but you don't include Heading3 elements in your bookmarks, Frame may fail to create named destinations for those elements and your links won't work.
There is a workaround to this bug in my shareware XRef Wizard plugin, available at www.weststreetconsulting.com. It might be able to help... look in the documentation for "named destinations."

  • Firefox 28 hangs when I try to print to Acrobat PDF printer

    Hello all!
I have observed a problem when I try to print a webpage in Firefox v28 using the Acrobat PDF Printer (Acrobat Pro 9.5.5) installed in a Virtual Machine (VMware View 5.2) with Windows 7 64 bits. The printing dialog hangs (no response) after the "Save as" pdf dialog. Then I have to force Firefox to close, and afterward a Acrobat PDF conversion dialogs appears with the progress bar stopped at the middle. I also have to close this afterwards.
The others programs (Office, IE, Notepad...) are able to print through the PDF printer without problems. The problem appeared after the automatic update to Firefox v28, since when I downgrade to Firefox v26 the problem disappears.
I checked a similar configuration in a physical computer (W7 64 bits, Acrobat Pro 9.5.5, Firefox v28), and everything runs good, so I think it is a change that happened in Firefox v28 that has some problem with the VM configuration. I also have tried to change the Firefox profile, reset Firefox and reset the printing settings and reinstall Acrobat. No luck.
I would like to know if somebody know some change in Firefox v28 related with the printing or related to some service or update that can have some problem in the virtual machine.
    Any help is welcome!
    Thanks!

When you updated, did you reset the printer settings in '''about:config''' under '''print.print_printer'''?

  • HP Deskjet 710c printer don't work on a Mac Mini

I have a Mac Mini with OSX 10.9 but my HP Deskjet 710c printer don't work. I install the HP driver package from Apple but I don't see my printer in the list. Who can help me out? Thanks.

    Hi,
The printer is not supported on Mac OS X 10.9, you my find any supported printer listed in the following document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
As well no Mac supported is offered for the specific model within its driver download pages:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=59307&task=&
I afraid you will not be able to use the specific model with Mavericks, those are not compatible.

  • Printer don't work at all "

Hola! Hello! My first time here  ,so sorry if i not so good in inglish,My problem is the printer don't work at all ,and I have everything new in, the catrige, i also try every step that the screen show in Diagnose, and the last thin is help in cumunity .The light still flashing and the catrige is new ! I will thanks for you help ..Gary....

There are two ways to go back to Leopard in your circumstances: Archive and install and erase and install. The best way to do it is the second, but your files will have to be backed up somewhere else. Archive and install is a good technique, in concept, but it goes against Apple's advice under your circumstances. If you do the first, then your files will end up in the proper place. Still, they should be backed up somewhere else. Something that should facilitate your choice is whether or not you have an external drive where you could create a bootable clone of your internal. Let me know about this matter specifically and what you think about the alternatives.

  • Reader 9 Acrobat PDF Printer Driver Continuously Installs

Since I have installed Reader 9, the Acrobat PDF Printer Driver Continuously Installs in the background degrading system performance. Does anyone else have this problem? It auto created a System Restore point, so check that. I am running XP with all patches applies.

    Hi Mike,
I have exactly the same problem that you describe. At first I thought it might be malicious software that was installing a fake driver, but after running Malware, Spybot and some other programs, I'm still left with the problem. I have a lot of Adobe software installed (Adobe Premiere Elements 7, Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, Adobe Audition 3, Adobe PhotoShop 7 and of course Adobe Reader 9, plus as you indicate Adobe Air and Acrobat.com I'm not sure when my problem started, since I only recognized it when I went to do a system restore. It appears to install the driver about once a minute. This leaves me with about 3 days worth of useless restore points.
The only advice that I have received is to un-install all my Adobe stuff, then check the System Restore, then one by one re-install the packages checking each time what happens in the system restore.
Have you found any solution since your original post?

  • Acrobat 8.1.2 - PDF Printer still not working & Distiller crashes on startup!!!

    Hello,
when 8.1.2 update was released my hopes where great but now I'm realy disappointed!!!
After 3 times reinstalling CS3 Suite (incl. clean cs) and updateing for hours NOTHING seems to be fixed! Oh, well, the bouncing icon seems to be but maybe just because I'm not using Acrobat any more...
Here's a summary of my specs and the problems I have:
    OSX 10.5.2 on a Intel 8-core MAC Pro w. 4 GB Ram
Suitcase Fusion (also for System Fonts)
    CS3 Premium w. latest Update(s)
    Xpress 7 + Love Bundle

    Installed Hardware:
    Superdrive
    ATI Radeon graphic card
Mighty Mouse wireless + New wireless Apple keyboard
    24" DELL TFT monitor
    2 x 500 Gb HDD's
The main problem is that I HAVE TO create print PDFs from Xpress doc's wich is impossible without Distiller!
The 8.1.2 update seems to fix the "pausing PDF printer Problem", now the PDF printer sends the PS file to Distiller wich just crashes!
Here's the Distiller crash log (looong):

I posted this elsewhere, but I thought it couldn't hurt to repost here:
I had a similar problem and finally figured out why (and now to fix it).
    Permissions were messed-up on ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat
I did not have read-write permissions in it and Distiller was failing to create the ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat/Distiller 8/FontCache subdirectory.
I simply changed the owner and permission on ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Acrobat and the problem went away.

  • Acrobat PDF Printer STILL freezes when pasting filename into Save dialog

Ref: Acrobat Printer Freezes on Save when CTL+V is used
No change in Acrobat X.  Printing system still freezes up entirely when pasting a filename into the Save dialog, when printing to Adobe PDF printer.  Most often from Firefix (all versions through 28.0) but from other programs as well (also happens from MS Outlook 2010 32 bit).
Any chance of an update from Adobe?
Acrobat Pro X on Win 7 64 bit.  Multiple systems exhibit same behavior.
Same issue occurs in Acrobat XI Standard.
Workaround is possible by manually typing in filename, or renaming, but clearly this should not be happening.  If you forget, it requires a lot of steps (or a reboot) to try again.

If you copy text directly from FireFox (or Word, or pretty much any program, other than Notepad), and try to paste into the Save Dialog to save your PDF, guaranteed crash.
HOWEVER, if you paste the text into Notepad first, and then copy it again, you can then paste into the Save dialog no problem.  This is why the "test" that the Adobe rep did to recreate the problem was pointless: He managed to re-create the one workaround method that DOES work, instead of actually trying to do things the way that were causing the issue to show up.
The problem appears to be related to any sort of "rich" text.  Windows ignores the "rich" information and only keeps the text if you paste into a filename in the system.  So Windows handles it just fine, it's Adobe's save dialog that can't handle it.  Copied text from Firefox is usually pretty clean (IE is worse), but there must be some formatting remnants in there that are giving Adobe fits (instead of properly ignoring them).  It may have something to do with 64-bit Windows and 32-bit Firefox and 64-bit Acrobat all coming together?  Copying and pasting between 64-bit and 32-bit programs usually has no issues, but in this case, it does (although the 64/32 bit relation is pure speculation on my end).
But by "washing" your text through Notepad first, it completely strips it down to truly pure plain text, which can then be pasted into Adobe's Save dialog without a crash.  This adds an extra step, and should be entirely unnecessary, but it does work.  At least until Adobe fixes their program.

  • Microsoft Access report to pdf-hyperlinks don't work

    Hi,
Does anyone have a solution to hyperlinks not working when a Microsoft Access report is converted to a pdf?  The hyperlinks work when I am in the Access report, but once I convert to a pdf (Acrobat 9), the links don' t work.
    Thanks,
    Jamie

How did you convert? In looking at the PDF Maker options for AA8 in ACCESS 2007, there does not seem to be a link button in the preferences. That may the issue and I do not have a solution for that.

  • Pdf links don't work for imported text

    Hi.
I imported some common sections located in their own frame file into three different books.
I tried this by reference first because I want to make changes only once, to the actual file.
When I make a pdf, the toc links to the imported reference text don't work. Nor do links within the text to other locations in the text.
When I import by text, the links work. But import by text defeats the purpose of having one source for multiple books.
I appreciate any help on this.
    Bibs

Unfortunately, cross-references in FM files imported by reference into other FM files ("text insets") are not converted to PDF links -- this applies to all versions of FrameMaker and Acrobat.
Limited workarounds are to (1) convert the text insets to regular text (on a temporary copy that is discarded after the PS/PDF is created; this can be automated using FrameScript) or (2) use hypertext links to create the PDF links (these are converted properly even when in a text inset).

  • Adobe PDF printer doesn't work correctly.

I have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro. But when I try to convert a document to a PDF file using PDF printer a progress bar appears. But then nothing happens.

    Hi Anubha,
This problem happens with every kind of file types (Eg. .doc, .txt, .jpg).
This printer worked very well earlier. I got this problem suddenly. Not sure what is the reason. Tried re-installing Adobe, but doesn't work.
I used 'File> Print> Printer> Adobe PDF' option to create pdf files. (Eg. In MS Word, Notepad, and etc.)
    Thank you for your reply.

  • No Acrobat PDF Printer

    Hi,
I have OS X 10.5, Adobe Creative Suite 3 with Acrobat Pro 9. I installed CS3, without the Acrobat option as per the advised setup instructions, restarted the Apple, then installed Acrobat Pro 9 and then rebooted. The PDF printer is not available when I try to print from any application on the Apple. It's as if the PDF printer itself hasn't been installed.
Can you advise on how to add the PDF printer in as the installtion procedure doesn't seem to work.
    Thanks
    Chris

Under the help menu there should be a choice to repair the installation
of Acrobat. This should restore the pdf printer.

  • PDF Printer is not working. Is there an update?

I have a large document that I'm trying to save individual pages into separate files. I usually do this by using the pdf printer and selecting the pages I want to save as individual files.  I recently moved to a new computer and can no longer use the pdf printer.  Is there an update I'm missing?

Acrobat 7 is not compatible with anything beyond Windows XP. Beginning with Windows Vista and forward, there were changes in the way drivers work such that the Adobe PDF PostScript print driver instance needed to be modified. The first version of Acrobat that was fully compatible with Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.x is Acrobat 8.1. If a user installed Acrobat 8 on such a system and then applied the 8.1 update, the Adobe PDF PostScript printer driver instance appears and works.
Alas, Acrobat 8 is no longer licensed by Adobe. Your upgrade path now is to Acrobat DC Pro.

  • Pdf Links don't work

    Hello all,
I'm working on my office intranet, and there are links on a pdf (which links to other pdf files, and they all make up our policy and safety manuals). It all works fine on a PC, but I can't seem to make the links work if I open it in Safari. And if I download the pdf, then the links bring up the error message (I assume because the other pdf files are not in that file path on my computer).
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can make the web links work like on a PC?
    Lawrence

Thanks for that. However, the links still don't work in Safari. Not sure why, but every link I click does nothing. It does change the cursor to a hand, which seems to indicate it recognizes the presence of a link. If I control-click the link, it brings up "Search in Spotlight," "Search in Google," etc. Not the usual contextual menu for a link. Any ideas?
    Lawrence
