Acrobat pdfmaker

I have the adobe acrobat pdf maker as an addon to my Microsoft word program. I want the tagged bookmarks to carry over into the pdf document that I have selected to be an ebook. When I click Convert to pdf file, I get the following message: "Acrobat PDFmaker has detected that 'Highlight changes in printed document has been selected'.It will not be able to create tags with this option selected. Do you want to continue?
If I say yes, none of my bookmarks carry over even though I have the Headings selected in my preferences to convert. Does anyone know where I remove this selection so that I can carry my bookmarks over into the final pdf document?
Thanks,
Cindy

This is a part of Acrobat. I recommend you post questions about
Acrobat (Standard or Professional) in the Acrobat Windows or Acrobat
Macintosh forum as appropriate. Be sure to include the essential
information on the verisons of Word and Acrobat in use.
Good luck,

  • How do you prevent Acrobat PDFMaker from rasterizing vector graphics?

I am using the "Create PDF" button (provided by the Acrobat PDFMaker in Acrobat X) to create a PDF from a Microsoft Word 2010 document.
This works fine, except that vector graphics in the Word document appear in the resulting PDF as raster graphics. (That is, when I zoom in, document text outside the graphics appears smooth, but the graphics are blocky; and text inside the graphics that should be retained as text - it's not converted to curves - is just pixels.)
The original artwork for the vector graphics is in CorelDRAW X6 (sorry, Adobe!).
I have exported the following files from the original vector drawing in CorelDRAW:
    - EPS (with TIFF preview)
    - Windows metafile (.wmf)
    - Enhanced metafile (.emf)
I can insert any of these files into Word okay (Insert > Picture), but the resulting PDF always contains a rasterized (bitmapped) version of the vector graphic ("line art").
From memory, this didn't use to happen in my previous working environment (Acrobat 8 Pro with Word 2003, using artwork exported from CorelDRAW 12).
How do you prevent Acrobat X PDFMaker from rasterizing vector graphics? Or is Word 2010 (or CorelDRAW X6) somehow to "blame" here?

    Transparency Flattening is being invoked.
From the Create PDF button, select Properties, what is your setting for Default Settings? Select High Quality Print

I recently upgraded to Microsoft 365 Home and use Outlook 2013. The Acrobat PDFMaker Addin worked fine in Office 2010. Now, I get an error message: Not loaded. A runtime error occurred during the loading of the COM Add-in.

I have restarted Outlook, restarted my computer, and nothing changes.
    Does anyone have a solution?

I do not think that AA X is compatible with the newest versions of OFFICE and such. Your only choice is to print to the Adobe PDF printer or use the MS plugins to create PDFs.

    Hi,
As the event log indicated, this is due to acrobat pdfmaker office com addin doesn't work well with Microsoft Word.
I would suggest you go ahead and try to upgrade your Adobe product to the latest version and see if issue persists.
Or contact the support of Adobe and see if there is a known compatibility issue or not.

  • Acrobat PDFmaker is ignoring hard page breaks in Word docx

I'm working with a client's Word docx file which is formatted almost entirely with tables and uses hard page breaks throughout. When the document is exported to a PDF using Acrobat PDFMaker, some of the hard page breaks are rendered but some of them are completely ignored. In those cases, section breaks, extra spaces and anything else is ignored, too. It simply runs the table and/or text together as if there was nothing between them. I'm totally baffled. I turned off all widow/orphan control and keep options.

Glad you found a solution. I am not quite sure what you did or why what was suggested did not work. If you can ever post a document or part of such that demonstrates the problem and the inability of Acrobat to resolve it, I would be interested (a learning process!).
In terms of WORD, I have seen many forms that folks create in WORD and have similar problems. In many cases they like to use as much of the page as possible. When I try to print the form on my printer, or even view it, it is generally messed up. This WORD form aspect is similar to the book issue you have mentioned. It is characteristic of the reflow of word processors based on the printer metrics.
You might find this link (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/preserve-original-appearance-for-viewing-or-pr inting-HP005189614.aspx) helpful in maintaining the layout. In OFFICE 2007 use of printer metrics was turned off by default in the Options>Advanced>Compatibility. I believe they turned it back in with later updates and versions. The article also mentions the issues with various fonts and the need to embed fonts. Unfortunately, the newer versions of WORD do not embed the fonts of vector graphics.

  • Can't reenable "Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin"

While PDFing a document from Microsoft Word 2007 (using Acrobat 9), the process froze so I killed the Word process.
Afterwards, I found that the Acrobat menu is now missing when I open a Word document.
In "Word Options", the Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin is disabled. However, I've tried renabling it with no luck - it remains disabled.
I've tried also adding the COM to the registry, and running a repair, as described at this web page:
    http://acrobat.timhuff.net/?p=29
    Neither worked for me.
Does anyone have any other ideas before I have to reinstall Acrobat?
    Thanks,
    P.

    Hi Alice,
Unfortunately that didn't fix it for me, but I finally found a solution courtesy of a comment by "Joel" at this blog - I've rewritten it slightly here:
    http://acrobat.timhuff.net/?p=29#comment-8787
    Open Word 2007.
Click on the Word icon. Go to the bottom of the window that is opened.
    Click Word Options.
In the window opened, click “Add-ins”.
On the body of this window, choose the Adobe string that appear under “disabled application add-in”.
This is the crucial part: go to the bottom of this window, instead of "COM add-ins", Choose "Disabled Items". (This is where I was going wrong.)
    Click Go.
In the Disabled Items dialog box displayed, select the Adobe addin and click Enable, then Close, then OK.
    Regards,
    P.

  • Acrobat PDFMaker toolbar button disparity

I am printing to PDF an Outlook email message using the Acrobat PDFMaker toolbar button.  The document generates but is displaying the date of the Outlook pst file instead of the date the email was created.  Conversely, if I attempt to print the same email from Outlook (File>Print>AdobePDF) the date listed on the resulting PDF is the actual date the email was generated.  I suspect there is some issue with the PDFMaker toolbar.  Is there an explanation or patch for this issue?  I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.

Also please note that PDFMaker is a invention created by adobe to work specifically with MS Office. And will work on all version up to Office2004 on Mac.
However, In its infinite wisdom, and not realizing the wrath and backlash they would receive from Office Mac Users, dumped all VBA support in Office2008. Well, PDFMaker is a Casualty of that along with other such goodies as Solver in Excel and many other Macro based commands. MS has received such heat that they absolutely promise it will be back in Office 2010, 11, 12 whatever the next version is, at possible sacrifice of new features.
So if your trying to use with Office 2008 it won't work, you can't get it to work.
Besides, now in Office2008 you can actually create a PDF directly from the Save As command. And has solved a problem or bug Adobe has never figured out how to fix where if you created a PDF from a word document, would break the pdf into chunks depended upon whether you used Page and section Breaks. And would only create a PDF of the first sheet in an Excel spread sheet. A problem Adobe hasn't fixed in 13-14 years at least.
As to quality of the PDF created I have no idea. but they look great for the web.
So I can see why Jon threw in his comment about being removed in 9.

  • The Acrobat PDFMaker Server could not be loaded

Hi All, Using Acrobat 8 pro on xp system inc Office 07. Suddenly today i am unable to create a PDF from any doc unless using PDF printer option. My COM add in tabs vanished. I have uninstalled booted etc then reinstalled no change. I have also run the installer in repair mode, no joy. I have managed to recover the COM add ins from the disabled option for all my windows progs such as word etc but all come up with the warning " The Acrobat PDFMaker Server could not be loaded" This also counts for creating a PDF direct from the PDFMaker opening page. Any ideas anyone as i believe the problem lies with Acrobat rather than the windows components.

"PDFMaker server could not be loaded"
I just did the following to my xp, office 2003 system
    1. updated to sp3 again
    2. update to .NET on most recent version
    3. deleted blocking of old formats such as old ppt, dbf etc on office 2003
    4. put patch for 2007 read on 2003
    5. uploaded Adobe 8.0.1.2
    6. then tried to used pdf maker and got the deadly: "PDFMaker server could not be loaded"
    7. then went through usual suspects of reloading, removing and then reloading, etc, even redid the dlls, no use
    8. if this seems to be as wide spread a problem as it appears on the web boards would one not think adobe in the kindness of its heart would fix it
    9. i can print to pdf and it is editable
    10. the adobe convert logo is now missing when i look at the files on windows explorer and right click, so somehow the upgraed washed out all functions
    11. well at least it worked for a few days, better than microsoft, but you guys are catching up fast
    12. in my companies i tell my people, if all else fails listen to the customer! it works

  • Problem with Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin

I have recently installed MS Office 2010 on my W7 system but find that the Acrobat addin for MS Word 2010 is not working -- it gives errors messages and recommends that I disable the addin.
This all used to work fine with MS Word 2007.
Is there anything that can be done about this problem. Is there an upgrade for the Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin ?
    Gerry

    Kelly,
Whilst the main reason for 64 bit Office is large and complex Excel files, significant performance gains have been found in other usage scenarios, such as with lengthy and complex Word documents (especially when using complex plugins such as EndNote). It is in users' interests to use 64 bit Office if they can - but this is only possible if all their plug-ins support 64 bit Office.
I see Microsoft's document as a classic support driven response (or should I call it a cop-out) - there are compatibility issues with non-Microsoft software, so, to eliminate the support burden, we will steer you towards the lowest common denominator of installing 32 bit Office even if you have an x64 OS. Whilst this makes a great deal of sense, in that many users will see no advantage in 64 bit Office, there are plenty of users, including myself, who would see advantages from 64 bit Office but are being prevented from moving to 64 bit Office because third party plug-in providers have yet to make 64 bit versions available.
The situation with 64 bit Office plug-ins mirrors the situation with 64 bit Photoshop plug-ins, but with one key difference. Photoshop CS4, CS5 and CS5.1 (same as CS5; the apparent version bump indicates it was installed as part of Creative Suite 5.5) default to installing both 32 bit and 64 bit versions on x64 versions of Windows. You can therefore pick and choose which version of Photoshop you use according to which plug-ins you need. I'm now in the fortunate position of having 64 bit versions of all but two of the plug-ins I use regularly. I start the 32 bit version of Photoshop CS5.1 if I need those plug-ins, but my default is the 64 bit version.
Office 2010 requires you to choose between 32 bit and 64 bit; you cannot install both at the same time, and you cannot mix and match between different Office applications (so, for example, installing 64 bit Project 2010 alongside 32 bit Office Professional Plus 2010 is not supported and may cause problems - indeed, I'm not sure if the Project installer would allow you to install the 64 bit version if you had 32 bit Office applications already installed). This makes the unavailability of 64 bit versions of a single plugin that you require for one Office application a total bar to moving to 64 bit Office.
Unfortunately, this creates a 'chicken and egg' effect - the apparent demand for 64 bit versions of Office plugins is reduced because the unavailability of 64 bit versions of a crucial plugin prevents a move to 64 bit Office. I, for one, have a clear intention to switch to 64 bit Office, and will not buy new products or pay to upgrade existing ones unless they support 64 bit Office. Many products that can hardly be said to be aimed at the Office power user have supported 64 bit Office for some while, including Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.5 and 11.0.
I wholeheartedly welcome the support for some 64 bit Office applications in Acrobat 10.1, but urge Adobe to provide complete support for 64 bit Office 2010. Currently, 64 bit versions of Visio 2010, Project 2010, Access 2010 and Publisher 2010 are not yet supported in PDFMaker. Hopefully this support will be forthcoming in a future quarterly update.
There is a mistake in your post - 64 bit Outlook 2010 is supported in Acrobat 10.1's PDFMaker. The issue with Outlook in the blog post you linked to is that Outlook 2010 doesn't have Microsoft's Save as PDF functionality - but if you have PDFMaker, using PDFMaker is the best option anyway.

  • Acrobat pdfmaker com addin for word 2010 crashes when processing large files

I am trying to use the pdfmaker com addin for word 2010 to create a PDF document. Whenever I try and create the document, the acrobat addin crashes word.
I attempted to perform this on both an x86 and x64 machine and it failed both times at around the approximately same point (during/immediately after determining the bookmarks).
The document is large (862 pages, 2425 bookmarks, 311 300dpi graphics, for a total file size of 49.2MiB)
I can generate the PDF by just printing, but the whole point of using the pdfmaker is so that we don't have to perform 2.5K of manual cross-links.

I recently ran into this with a bitmap in a 265 page document. I copied the bitmap to IrfanView and then back (I think that was the step -- I am already forgetting) and the copied it back. The problem went away. My student may look a bit more at the file -- I asked so I could give a more definitive comment here.
The result I had suggests that it is a problem in WORD or the bitmap that WORD was using. Why WORD can deal with it and not Acrobat, I am not sure. However, when printing to the Adobe PDF printer there was not a problem, just with PDF Maker.

  • Acrobat PDFmaker 9 won't work with Office 2010

Acrobat is Adobe's powerful and long-running pdf handler.  It's good software, but according to Adobe tech support in India, has known incompatibilities with Office 2010.  We can't create pdf files from any Office document or spreadsheet.  Adobe dropped the ball on this one, Office 2010 was out in beta for long enough for big developers like Adobe to get with the program.  Avoid Acrobat 9 until Adobe fixes it.

I see a lot of people commenting that they had Adobe Acrobat 8.xx Pro and it worked fine with Microsoft Office 2010.
    That was not my experience.
I downloaded MS Office 2010 and had the latest update of Adobe 8 Professional. (Don't know which release that was, but I keep my Adobe programs automatically updated.) As soon as I tried to use Adobe Acrobat to combine Excel files into a PDF, the PDFMaker functionality failed. This is why I purchased Adobe Acrobat 9, because my previous version did not work with MS Office 2010.
It was incredibly infuriating to find out that upgrading did not resolve my problem, nor would going back to the previous install of Acrobat 8 Pro work for me. So, Adobe cheated me out of $160 for no reason, and after spending 6+ hours uninstalling, reinstalling and all kinds of other nonsense, I still can't use my PDFMaker plugin.
The same thing happened with Adobe 8 and Microsoft Office 2007. The first version of Adobe 8 wasn't compatible, but then Adobe released a patch for Acrobat 8 that made it work with 2007. FOR FREE. I would say that we, the customers, have a reasonable expectation that the same should be done for Adobe 9, also at no extra charge.
There is no way in hell that I'm buying Adobe Acrobat 10. Adobe has been incredibly dishonest about this problem and they're not getting one more red cent of my money. I'd rather scan my documents to PDF or use the Distiller.
I'm quite sure I'm not alone in this sentiment, either.

  • Acrobat PDFMaker addin in Word 2003

After Upgrading from Acrobat 8 to 9, the addin in Word 2003 is missing and word did not start properly until it automatically removing whatever was left of the former addin. I am trying the manual installation but I cannot find the ".dot" file needed, only the .dll for Word2007 is available but for that it was automatically installed without problems. I work with Win XP64. I have upgraded acrobat 8 to 9 because the pdf printer was not working after some time. I've been told the same was observed with acrobat 7, but reinstallation of the acrobat was much faster in that earlier version. I read and download pdfs with a suite of internet browsers everyday and I have had many problems, such as missing fonts, incomplete downloads, freezing of the browsers, reinstalling web browsers several times, shutting down frozen adobe processes, etc.
    Thanks for your support.

    Hi,
maybe you want to delete both programs!
Restart, check that everything is clean.
And reinstall first word then Acrobat!

  • Using Acrobat PDFMaker Bookmark Options

I am using Windows (7 64-bit) and Word 2007 (SP2 MSO). I am using Acrobat 9 Pro (9.4.1) to convert a Word document to PDF. The bookmarks created in the PDF document are for all Word Heading styles (H1, H2, H3, H4, H5). However, on the Bookmarks tab of the Adobe PDF Maker, I only selected 3 heading styles (H1, H2, H3) for bookmarks. The Convert Word Bookmarks check box is NOT selected.
This is a very basic PDF feature, so I am puzzled as to why it is not working for me. Any suggestions for settings I should review in Adobe Acrobat? Microsoft Word 2007? Windows 7? Are there certain features I should have selected when I installed Adobe Acrobat after my system was upgraded to Windows 7/Office 2007?
Over the past 6+ months, I have researched a lot of sources and I have been unable to find a solution to my problem. (I do not want to make any manual changes to my Word styles (i.e., changing the Outline Level of styles - which I can't do because I am having issues with default Word heading styles.))
    Thanks for your help!

    Try updating to 10.1.3.
