Acrobat pen tool changes to grab tool

I have a tablet connected to my Macintosh on which I draw/write on for assignments. When using Adobe Acrobat's pen tool I run into a problem where the pen tool will suddenly change to a small arrow that will select the item I just drew. This is a problem often when returning to complete a character such as an I or a T. When I try to cross these letters or draw from any point on something that I have previously drawn it will select the entire item and more as I draw (though nothing is drawn - just the item moves). Is there any way to disable this feature in Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional for Mac? Many thanks!

WHen that happens, try moving the cursor so it changes into a crosshair cursor by moving it. If it still selects a drawn line, click the ESC key and move the cursor a little farther away and you should be able to use the pencil tool again.

  • How do you change the color of the path the pen tool makes?

There must be some way to change the color of the path the pen tool makes from that grey color to something that will contrast with the image underneath. I found one thread about this from 2010 or so and the answer led to a dead link. This seems like it would be a very helpful feature that would be easy to implement. Someone please tell me in 2014, after a zillion version of photoshop have come out in the past 30 or so years, how do we do this? Thank in advance.

Why? When you zoom in too close sometimes it become too pixelated to see what's going on and the point on the pen become to close to each other. Why can't you change the path to a color so that it doesn't blend into the image you're trying to trace? Why is the unchangeable color one of the most likely colors to become invisible on most images? So frustrating!

  • How can i change the color of pen tool in photoshop cs6?

I want to change the color vector of pen tool in photoshop cs6?

Just to make sure we're communicating properly...
Is it that while creating a path you want the thin lines, handles, etc. to be a different color?
Or is it that after you create your path you want to stroke it with a color?  It IS possible to stroke a path, and even to have an automatic Layer Stroke on a path that's any size/color shape you want.  Example:

  • Pen Tools in Illustrator has changed

A program should make it easier to work with after every upgrade. In Illustrator it is every time when we buy an upgrade that it is getting more difficult to work with the program. This time they changed the pen tool. In CS2 we could use a short cut to change the pen tools to add anchor point or to switch between the different pen tools, staying in the standard pen tool. Now every time we have to go back to the menu to change the tool. It adds only an incredible amount of time to work with the program. Why did they change this?

Larry he did not have the keyboard shortcuts that check box does not effect the command keys, the option key or the - or = key. I read what he wrote very carefully you and James did not read it carefully.
If he wrote that when he hoover the pen tool over a path or anchor he did not get the plus or minus anchor point tool I would have responded as you and James suggested.
It was my first thought as well but that was not what Paul wrote. Is that OK?
    Paul
In the preferences under general there is a option to shut off auto add or minus anchor points it is labeled as Disable Auto Add/Delete. It will not give you the pen tool with the - or + sign if you hoover over a path or anchor point but does not effect the keyboard shortcuts.
Don't worry about this they are just trying to show me up because they have a thing with life.

  • Why do arrow heads change ends when using the pen tool?

    1. I create a horizontal line
    2. I change it to a right ended arrow head selected from my own graphic styles
    3. I then want to extend the left side ( non arrow end) with the pen tool
    4. I click the non arrow end to extend the line in a vertical direction
    5. The atrrow head changes to the other end
    Why?

Illustrator's arrowheads don't know right from left, they only know start from finish. Each open path in Illustrator has a beginning and an end. When you use the pen to extend a path you make the end you work from the end, even if it was once the beginning. Deselect the path, then click on the other end with the pen tool to restore the path direction.
If all you are doing is making the path longer I'd would be better to just move the end point.

  • Changing the pen tool cursor from a cross back to normal

    Dear Illustrator users,
I have managed to change the Pen cursor to a cross when I select it and begin to work. Please could someone tell me how you change the cursor/cross back to looking like a Pen.
    Much appreciated
    Ben

The pen tool will become a pen tool with a plus sign if you hover it over a path at a point where there is no anchor point.
If you hover it over an anchor point it becomes a pen tool with a minus sign.
If for some reason the settigs hav become corrut I guess it might cause this.
Quit Illustrator and while launching Illustrator hold the command>Option>Shift Keys all at the same time to reset the prefrences.
On the PC that would be Control>Alt>Shift. You start the Launch and immediately hold these keys down do not wait or it doesn't work.
When you either get a dialog asking if you want to reset you can let go or just wait until it fully launch.
    See if that helps.

  • Pen tool changing colors on gradient when saving

I am having issues when I save a file.
The shapes I have created (with the pen tool) and added specific gradients to, change colors. When I reopen the fill all the shapes have changed to the two colors that are currently on the foreground and background. Hence all the gradients are just those two colors and all the work matching and adding colors has been lost.
What am I doing or not doing that will prevent this from happening?

Which operating system are you using?
You need to go to Help>Updates in photoshop to install the latest updates.
If in photoshop cs6, if you go to Help>System Info and look at the top line, what version does it say?

First let me tell you: I don't like it when people are?talking about Creative in such?an uncivil manner. So, I understand why you closed the first thread: 'Get a clue creative'?But I can't understand why you closed the second one as the author just quotet the frist one and transcribed his points into a somewhat more civil manner. You wrote: 'dsikic: When a thread is locked, it's not open for further discussion, including new threads. • Illustrator changing to the pen tool when I zoom on a Wacom tablet

Is there a way to make Illustrator stop changing to the pen tool whenever I zoom in or out? I rarely need this tool when I'm zooming in or out and it wastes my time to have to keep changing the tool back to what I want every single time, it is the most annoying thing ever!
I have looked through the preferences, the only likely option I found for this is 'Auto add/delete' (as it changes to either add or remove anchor point pen) but turning this or or off makes no difference.
Does anyone know if there is another option that will stop it?

Also when I open it in illustrator.. and starting editing it but the objects are unable to select..what i do know.WoojinAmy_WongIllustrator@ I

  • How to reset Pen tool or changing it back to normal? (Adobe AI)

Hello everybody. I'm having a problem with the Pen tool in Adobe Illustrator and I don't know exactly how to reset it or make it function like the Pen tool in Adobe Photoshop.
As you can see below, when I'm trying to draw the shadows of face, hair and shoulders, it somehow fills unexpectedly and unwanted.. I just want to draw the anchor points first and then fill it with black color.. Just like in Adobe Photoshop CS6, see second image.
Any suggestions? I used Photoshop for over 4 years, and I'm not really that expert on Adobe Illustrator.
    Thank you in advance!
    Adobe Illustrator CC
    The problem below.
    Adobe Photoshop CS6
This is how exactly I want to make it work below.

Just apply the fill color "None" to the path.
See manual on how to apply fills and strokes.

  • Is it possible to change the path color using the pen tool?

I know we were able to in the past but can we now>

Here is a quick step by step on how to draw a path and stroke it with color:
Choose the pen tool to draw a path.
Draw your path. Below, you can see the path I drew with the pen tool.
You then want to select the color of the path, which is the "set foreground color" block. (you can see it above in step 1, a few tools below the pen tool). Below you can see the color I selected, then click OK.
Then select the Direct Selection Tool, you can see it circled in red below.
Then right-click the path you drew with the direct selection tool. Select "stroke path".
The stroke path dialog is brought up, you can select the tool form. I selected the pencil for this example.
Below you can see the path stroked with the color and the pencil tool I selected.

  • CS6 Bug Report: Pen tool points offset from cursor

    Hello,
I want to report the current behavior change of the pen tool. In current and older versions, clicking with the pen tool on the canvas, created a point that was exactly centered with the cursor's center point, as expected.
Now, in Photoshop CS6, clicking on the canvas with the pen tool results in path points created not in the same spot where one clicks, but offset a couple pixels.
For people who, like me, use the pen tool a lot and do it fast, this change translates into lower precision when creating paths as, when the new points are created, if they are offset, the whole last leg of the path changes position.
Can we expect that to be corrected for the final version?
    Thanks

Im trying the BETA on a Mac Pro running Lion. I doubt this is a driver related problem since it is easily reproducible on various systems, both OSX and Windows.
CS5: Zoom in really close until you can see the pixel grid. Grab the pen tool and create a path anchor anywhere. Wherever you click, a pont will appear.
CS6: Do the same, click. This time, the path's point will appear in the closest corner of a pixel, as if new paths anchors where snapping to the pixel grid.
See how anchor points snap to the pixel grid? That doesn't happen in CS5.
    Hope this comment helps.
