Acrobat plugin is missing.

The Acrobat plugin does not show up in the Chrome plugins page. Neither does Adobe Reader plugin. (But I prefer Acrobat.)
(Current plugins include AdobeAAMDetect, Adobe Flash Player, and AdobeExManDetect.)
Same problem with previous (36 non-beta) version.
Re-installed Acrobat CC 2014, but still neither Chrome plugin shows up.
Re-installed Adobe Reader from get.adobe.com/reader, but still neither Chrome plugin shows up.
Nobody on Google help forum has been able to suggest anything that works.
Thanks in advance,
Allen

Hi Allen,
What version of Chrome are you using?
At my end it's:

Do you have Admin privileges on the machine?

The longer this thread continues, the more ancillary comments you throw in that aren't directly pertinent to your problem with your DVR software not working with Firefox 4.0. Sorry, I don't intend to continue with this discussion.
I do agree that ''something'' needs to be done better with regards to plugins for Firefox, but I do disagree with you as to whose responsibility that ''something'' is.

How to find out which plugin is missing fro mthe website: http://web.it.nctu.edu.tw/~twli/interactive/scr_tutf.htm?
After looking at one similar question found in mozilla support and answered by jscher2000 (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/957655), I have found out I have to look for either <object or <embed. What I found is : <embed width="100%" height="100%" messagecallback="parent.frames.MANIPULATIONS.AppendMessage" spinfps="15" spiny="30"
What do I have to do now?

This big1.mol (and possibly big2.mol) file is loaded in the embed plugin object that is opened in a iframe, so you can right-click the plugin area to check the embed code.

    #Go to''' Edit''' -> '''Preferences'''
#Under Categories (on the left) select '''General''' (near the top)
#Click the button '''Select Default PDF Handler''' (at the bottom)

  • Calling a method in acrobat plugin as COM obj method

    Hi all,
I want to call a method from my acrobat plugin as a COM objects method. Can i import i.e. add reference of plugin and call the perticular method which accepts two PDDoc parameters. For this I can use any platform (JS, C#, VB.net or anything). Please help me out.

Consider I have exported the below plugin method via COM as Irosenth mentioned above, will I be able to see the highlighting happening visually in the PDF document which is currently active when I call this COM method from my C# Winform application?
Also consider I have the Adobe Reader plugin license, will this functionality work in Reader?

  • Plugin check (incorrectly) says my acrobat plugin is out of date and takes me to a reader install

    Windows XP
    FF 20.0
I have Adobe Acrobat X 10.1.6. and the plugin checker says its out of date.
I don't think it is, it's just not Abobe Reader.
I don't want to have both Acrobat and Reader. When I do, then there's two different plug-ins in FF, but they both have the same names, but they seem independent and it just seems messy. It looks as if the same plugin is on there twice, one updated and one not updated, but it doesn't seem possible to remove either one. Which is actually good, b/c one is for Acrobat and one is for Reader, which I didn't realize until I started looking into all this mess. Also, there's no point in me having Reader if I have Acrobat.
It's weird that the plugin checker says the Acrobat plugin is out of date and directs me to the Reader 11 download to update it, eventhough I already have Reader 11 (thanks to the plugin checker). In other words, the one that is updated is Reader, but the one that is supposedly out of date just directs me to a DL that I already have installed. Sorry if its confusing.
Now I downloaded it, and have since uninstalled it, but it seems well-known that there can be issues with dl'ing Reader when Acrobat is already uninstalled (or something), as well as when uninstalling one or the other, so now I am nervous, because I didn't take any precautionary measures when dl'ing or uninstalling Reader.
I almost feel like I should uninstall everything (if possible) and just start fresh.
Anyway, point is, the plugin checker is wrong, right?

Hi jonadelman, if you have 10.1.6, you are current. It's just that the plugin checker doesn't know that both 10.1.6 and 11.0.2 are current.

  • Outdated Adobe Acrobat plugin

    Hello,
since today, before opening a pdf document, I reach a dark page where I have to click to activate the Adobe Acrobat plugin. I have Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape 10.1.5 and I knew it was outdated because I check regularly the "check plugins" page, it used to be simply paired with the yellow button and that was all. Today I get black screens whenever I try to view pdf in Firefox and I have to click on them to view pdf. From the Add-ons/Plugins control panel I know see a warning red writing above the plugin entry stating "Adobe Acrobat is known to be vulnerable and should be updated".
I cannot seem to update because I have Adobe Acrobat X pro, and I don't want to install the reader or purchase the newest version of the pro suite. My Pc runs with WIndows XP SP3 and is quite old, all other plugins are up to date, including Java and I don't want to use the new FF built-in pdf reader.
Any suggestion as how to disable the warnings and vulnerability screens or to update the plugin without installing Adobe Reader? Thank you

The solution did not work for me. It had me download an msp file, but I do not have that software on my computer and do not want to download it. The description of msp on the internet sounds like downloading it will give more access to my computer than I want to give. I would appreciate clarification if I am being overly protective, but Mozilla Firefox, can you fix the problem so we can update from your button? Kindest regards, Robin

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat plugin crash everytime I open a PDF?

I am currently running the Firefox 11.0, which is the most up-to-date version as of this writing. Every time I open a PDF file, it says that "Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, which came as part of my school's standard software package. The Mozilla website says I have the most up-to-date version of the Acrobat plugin.
P.S. I recently updated my version of Adobe Reader X to try to fix the problem, but that didn't work. I'm not entirely sure how Reader is related to Acrobat, so I don't know if that would affect my ability to read PDFs in Firefox.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • PDF Searching using Adobe Acrobat Plugin Find Function in Safari

I currently incorporate the Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.1.2) plugin for viewing PDF files. I like using Safari for viewing PDFs within a web browser, but I find Safari's built-in Find function (open apple-F) inferior to Acrobat's ability to search for text within the PDF, as it never finds the words that I search for.
My question is: Is there an efficient built-in shortcut within Safari to search text within a PDF using Adobe Acrobat's plugin Find function? If not, is there a relatively easy, keyboard-based shortcut that could be made to direct the Find function to the Adobe Acrobat plugin Find function within Safari?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Figured it out.  It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat.  Here's the fix:
    Open Finder/Applications
    Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
    Quit Safari
    Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.
