Acrobat PlugIn vs. Reader - Ladezeit PDF-Datei

Danke

"However, web browsers are somewhat notorious for getting confused when their plugins change and update, so it's possible that when the two plugins updated, your selection as to which one is active has been corrupted, leaving neither plugin operational. You should be able to correct that with the options/preferences within your web browser itself."
If this is true, that is why many users, and I am one of those, do not install both products on the same system. I do not dare to try installing Acrobat Reader because of this situation. When I tried it in the past, I got all kinds of strange error messages such that my ability to access PDFs from the web was severely hampered. I could not even start Acrobat itself at times. Why can't Adobe fix this problem?
When you say changes preferences in the browsers, which ones in what browsers? If a Adobe could put together a list of browsers and their preferences that have to be changed, that might help.

  • Make Acrobat the default reader for pdf-files.

    Since some time (probably after I installed Mavericks) pdf-files are by default opened
    in Preview. To open them in Adobe Acrobat, I can right-click the pdf-file, choose Acrobat,
    and indicate that Acrobat should be the default reader for pdf-files.
    This works, and after logout and login, it does still work.
    But after a reboot, Preview is again the default reader.
    Also, if in Finder I right-click a pdf-file, and via Get Info I configure Acrobat
    to be the default reader for the specific file and all other pdf-files (by clicking
    Change All), this only works for the current session. After a reboot Preview again is the
    default.
    How can I make Acrobat Reader the default reader for pdf-files, and make this setting
    permanent?
    Where is this setting saved?
    Regards,
    Kees.

    I finally solved this, but I still don't understand how.
    To begin with I have 2 hard-drives in my iMac. The OS is on the primary HD, and data are on the secondary drive. My Home directory too is on this secondary HD.
    To check whether the location of the Home directory might be the problem, I copied the Home directory to the primary HD, changed the path in my profile, and did a reboot.
    The next step was to configure Adobe Acrobat as the default reader for pdf-files. To my surprise,  after rebooting, Acrobat still was the default reader for pdf-files.
    So it looks as if this problem has something to do with the location of the Home directory.
    The original Home directory was still present on the secondary  HD,  So the next step was to change in my profile the path to the Home directory again (pointing again to the original Home directory on the second HD), do a reboot and delete the copy of the Home directory on the primary HD.
    So now the situation was back to as it was before: the Home directory on the second HD.
    To my surprise now Acrobat still was the default reader for pdf-files.
    And I could also change the default reader to Preview, and back to Acrobat, and this setting was saved across reboots.
    I'm curious to what solved this problem, and where the setting of the default pdf-reader, or more general, the default application for file types, is stored.
    So I hope that someone who reads this, can shed some light on this.

  • Acrobat won't read online pdf links

    For several days I've had a problem being able to read PDF files online. I click on a link which has a PDF extension I get an error message which says "There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (1014:1014)"
    I have no problem reading PDF files from my hardrive and if I right-click on the same link and save the PDF onto my hardrive, I can read it just fine.
    Any ideas what my problem is here?
    (I'm running Windows XP, am using Arobat Reader 10.1.2, and the browser is Internet Explorer 7)

    You could try to run the repair installation command found under the help menu of Reader.

    Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?

  • Enable 3D Measuring for Adobe Reader in PDF saved by Acrobat Pro Ext plugin

    Hello,
    I'm developing a plugin for Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended to embed a 3D object in a PDF.
    I would like to enable Adobe Reader users to measure the 3D object on the saved file,
    like you can do with the menu "Advanced"->"Extend Features in Adobe Reader" in Acrobat Pro Ext.
    Is it possible to do that with the SDK without user interaction?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks, I read something about that LiveCycle, but I don't understand how I should use it...

  • FireFox update spoils acrobat plugins

    Hi.
    I have just updated FireFox for windowsXP from v.19.0 to v.19.0.2, and after that, its acrobat plugin(CS6 Creative Cloud trial) for converting web page to pdf was spoiled.
    The layout was messed up, and Images are not displayed after the plug-in converts a web page to pdf.
    How to solve this problem?? Have to re-install acrobat on my PC?
    Thanks

  • Acrobat-Hilfe| PDF-Datei im Webbrowser anzeigen | Acrobat, Reader XI

    Diese Frage wurde zu folgendem Artikel gestellt: http://helpx.adobe.com/de/acrobat/using/display-pdf-browser-acrobat-xi.html

    @Adobe:
    Vielen Dank für diese tolle Anleitung.
    Allerdings sollte man vielleicht noch erwähnen, dass es im Firefox nötig ist auch unter Extras -> Einstellungen, und dort in der Liste unter dem Reiter Anwendungen für den Dateityp "Portable Document Format" den Wert "Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" einstellen muss. Andernfalls wird, selbst wenn das Adobe Reader Plugin Aktiv ist ein PDF mit dem internen Viewer von Firefox angezeigt.

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat plugin crash everytime I open a PDF?

    I am currently running the Firefox 11.0, which is the most up-to-date version as of this writing. Every time I open a PDF file, it says that "Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, which came as part of my school's standard software package. The Mozilla website says I have the most up-to-date version of the Acrobat plugin.
    P.S. I recently updated my version of Adobe Reader X to try to fix the problem, but that didn't work. I'm not entirely sure how Reader is related to Acrobat, so I don't know if that would affect my ability to read PDFs in Firefox.

  • PDF Searching using Adobe Acrobat Plugin Find Function in Safari

    I currently incorporate the Adobe Acrobat Pro (9.1.2) plugin for viewing PDF files. I like using Safari for viewing PDFs within a web browser, but I find Safari's built-in Find function (open apple-F) inferior to Acrobat's ability to search for text within the PDF, as it never finds the words that I search for.
    My question is: Is there an efficient built-in shortcut within Safari to search text within a PDF using Adobe Acrobat's plugin Find function? If not, is there a relatively easy, keyboard-based shortcut that could be made to direct the Find function to the Adobe Acrobat plugin Find function within Safari?
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Figured it out.  It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat.  Here's the fix:
    Open Finder/Applications
    Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
    Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
    Quit Safari
    Launch Safari
    Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

  • I have updated my Adobe Acrobat plugin three times today but the firefox plugin check says it is out of date, a problem as I repeatedly encounter "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed" when I attempt to download pdfs.

    I am attempting to download pdf's from a library search on JSTOR. I can view the pdf but cannot download them as they say "The Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". I have been to the firefox plugin check and have updated Adobe Acrobat three times in the last hour, but it still says my plugin is not up to date. This leads me to believe that this may be the source of my crash errors.
    I updated Adobe Flash from the same firefox plugin check page and after one try it now says I am up to date, so my system is obviously accepting these updates.
    Help!!!!!

    The following solution is useful for people who have the full version of Acrobat 9, but are getting the error message "the Adobe Acrobat plugin has crashed". You probably want the features in the full version of Acrobat, but still need to be able to open PDF files from your Firefox browser.
    Go to Tools > Options > Applications. Scroll down and change all of the Adobe Acrobat files to open with Acrobat 9 (or whatever version you have) instead of "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". This may not be as handy as having it use Acrobat inside the Firefox browser, but it will still let you open PDF files without having to uninstall the full version of Acrobat. Hope this helps.

  • Open PDF files in Acrobat plugin by default in web browser.

    Hi,,
    I am looking for a solution to open a pdf form a website or form local computer in any bowser within Acrobat plugin. I know we need to configure manually in each browser to enable pdf to be open in Acroabt console. You can see it  here     But What I am actually looking forwad is a script or something. Like if we have a document javascript to enable Acrobat plugin automatically. Something like this, which can be done automatically, not manually.
    Please share your answers.
    Thanks

    Not possible. A script in a PDF can't influence the way the browser or the system works.

  • Adobe Reader - kann keine Links in pdf-Datei öffnen

    Hallo Forum,

  • Acrobat Plugin should first open, then I want to stream a PDF

    Hi,
    when I stream a PDF (which is packaged in a ByteArrayOutputStream) to the Browser, the Acrobat Reader plugin opened not until the whole document
    is loaded. Is there a header, or anything else I have to set in my servlet to make sure that first the Acrobat plugin open and then the streaming starts. I need this behaviour, because if my user have a slow internet connection, he should have the chance to see the first page of the document during the rest of the document is still loaded in the backround.
    code:
    //document = PDF as ByteArrayOutputStream
    ServletOutputStream servletOut = response.getOutputStream();
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");
    response.setContentLength(document.size());
    document.writeTo(servletOut);
    response.flushBuffer();
    servletOut.flush();

    So that's my last post to this topic. For all, which have a similar problem, in future : It's not a Java problem, it's a problem of the PDF document. If you want the behaviour that the Acrobat Plugin opened first you have to make sure that you have a "Linearized PDF". I use iText to create a PDF, but it's a pity that iText don't support Linearization.

  • Erstellte Berechnungen in Acrobat X funktionieren nicht in gespeicherter pdf-Datei!

    Hallo an Alle!
    Ich verwende Acrobat X Pro auf meinem Mac.
    Habe folgendes Problem:
    LG
    Erwin

    Nochmals "Hallo an Alle!"
