Acrobat Portfolio Properties (disable copy of text parts)

I'm working with Acrobat Pro 9.4.0.195 (German).
I created a Portfolio containing some PDF files (no security settings).
Then I opened the Portfolio Properties and set items as follows:
- compatible to Acrobat 7 and newer
- encrypt comple content
- no password
- limited acces
- printing not allowed
- changes not allowed
- copying NOT not allowed !!!
- access for visually handicapped not allowed
However, independent on this correct settings it is possible to mark text and to copy text out of any included PDF.
This seem sto be a bug. Can anyone confirm this?

Apologies for the English version:
Open Acrobat Pro and choose menu - Advanced - Document Processing - Batch Processing.
Press New Sequence (the top button)
Give it a name - e.g. "Secure to prevent copying"
Press Select Commands (top button)
Under "Document" on the left side tree, click "Security" and press "ADD>>"
Click the new entry on the right side to select it, then press "Edit"
Choose a security method - e.g. "password", and set up the permissions you want to apply. Press OK. Re-enter the password and press OK.
Press Close to save the choice for the security action.
Press OK to save the new sequence.
Under item 2 "Run commands on", keep "ask when sequence is run".
Under item 3, choose where you want to save the secured files, or leave Acrobat to prompt you each time the sequence runs.
Press "Output Options" and choose if you want to add characters to the filename, etc. to avoid confusion with the originals.
Press OK.
Now to run the sequence, select it from the list and press "Run Sequence" (bottom button). You'll be shown a summary of what actions will be applied, asked to select your input file(s), then the sequence will run and your secured files will be saved to the folder you chose for output.

Acrobat 9 Pro: Cannot copy highlighted text unless I un-highlight the text

I have highlighted text in a document. When I go to copy that same text, it selects the entire sentence. I right-click, the menu starts with "Set Status." There is no "copy" option. Neither is control-C successful. When I next paste, it pastes a previously selected text, not the text I am attempting to copy in Acrobat. The only way I have found to copy the highlighted text is to un-highlight it, and then copy it. Are there any other solutions?

Thank you! This works. I pressed "shift," then highlighted the text I want to copy, and right-click (while still holding down "shift" key), and "Copy" finally appears in the menu.

How can I disable copy text?

While scrolling up and down a site using Firefox for Android, the copy and paste text mode often starts without me wanting it.
Typically I then cannot get rid of the copy and paste arrows. Clicking on another part of the screen simply moves the arrows to a different place.
Is there a way I can disable copy text?

Adobe Acrobat. Change "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, ..." also for highlights made before changing the setting

I am looking for a solution to apply the "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups" setting to highlights that I made before I changed this setting.
Someone wrote a batch for this which costs 60 dollar and this seems to do what I am looking for: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Retroactively Copy Highlighted Text into Comments
Where can I find Adobe's solution for this problem? I do not want to buy external batches for a professional software suit.
I expect that this is a common problem for people who start to organize a large literature base with many pdfs and must keep track of highlighted text. I was not previously aware of the "Copy selected..."setting, but I need to change it now for all my pdf files to make them compatible with a reference manager that I want to use. New comments are now compatible, but the hundreds(!) of pdfs that I worked through before are not, so copy pasting the highlighted text into comments is not an option.

Copying 3D text properties?

Hi,
I created 3D text using the "repousse" tool, and applied extrusion and modified the textures and everything.
If I want the same appearance can I copy this layer's values/properties to another 3D text layer instead of retweaking the values from scratch?

I dont think it is possible the way you are thinking. However, if you have Material description in the data target (MAKTX) then you can use this in the separate column in the report.

Acrobat 9 Properties bar greyed out for highlighting

I have posted on this issue last year, and also wrote to one of the admins -- all without any solutions, and the problem remains as bad as ever. I imagine there are a lot of other people running into this.
Acrobat 9 Properties bar greyed out (or disappears entirely) when text selected: it happens to me CONSTANTLY, using both Acrobat 8 Pro & Acrobat 9 Pro, all fully updated. Tech support is useless and refuses to acknowledge or solve this extremely annoying problem.
I need to highlight text (using different opacities of highlighting) in a variety of PDFs: scanned-ClearScan OCR, ebooks, downloaded journal articles, etc. None of them are "restricted" in any way for security, commenting, etc.
Within a few minutes of editing, when I go to highlight some text or change opacity, one of two things will happen spontaneously.
1) Properties bar disappears entirely when text selected (erroneously changes to "No current selection")
or
2) Properties bar suddenly greyed out when text selected
It is absolutely inconceivable that Adobe is unaware of this absurd defect -- and is unwilling or unable to fix such a simple functionality so that it works consistently and correctly!
And no, this is not a matter of "turning on/off" the bar using <cntrl-E> -- that's irrelevant to this defect.
And furthermore, commenting text formatting changes are not retained when set as new default (e.g., opacity of highlighting changes randomly from 20% > 60%, etc.)
And I don't want to reset all toolbars, because I have them customized just-so.
Can someone with more expertise PLEASE, PLEASE explain this problem or suggest a fix?

Assumptions for this test:
1. Acrobat has been configured so that the "Text Box Tool" (part of the "Comment & Markup Toolbar") is visible on the toolbar.
(Tools --> Customize Toolbars... may need to be used to se this up)
2. The "Properties Bar" is visible (a Ctrl-E should bring it up if it is not already so)
If you had to make changes to get this configuration set, close all Acrobat windows before proceeding so that the settings will be remembered and used when new windows are open.
******BUG******
Text box TEXT PROPERTIES only accessible in most recent file opened.
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open a 1st PDF
2. Open a 2nd different PDF
3. Arrange so both are visible.
4. in the 1st PDF create a text box and notice how the window for the 2nd PDF gets the TEXT BOX PROPERTIES BAR
5. notice how there is no way to change the text box properties in the first window.
Results: Text box properties can only be changed in the most recently opened window.
Expected results: Text box properties should work for all windows!
Note that no properties (color, fill, font, ...) of any object (line, rectangle, callout, ...) can be changed using the Properties Bar if the properties bar is not part of the last window opened.
The only kludgy workaround I've found is that if I need a working properties bar in a particular window I can:
1) save the file to capture any outstanding changes that might not have been captured (this is an optional step)
2) make a throw-away minor change to the file (I usually draw a short line segment)
3) Go to File --> Revert (& Confirm)
The file will close and reopen without the throw-away change and it will now be the last file opened so it will now have a working properties bar.
Go here and report it and perhaps if they hear from enough of us they will take the time to do something about it.

Copy static text from one MIF documents to other MIF document

I'm trying to copy the text frames and their contents from one document to other document.
I"m following the bellow steps..!
1. Open Template1.mif by F_ApiSimpleOpen()
2. Create new document called "Template2.mif" using "F_ApiCustomDoc"
3. Import the required formats by

There was a piece of code which validates whether the text frame I needed exists or not. I intentionally removed so as to not to confuse the reader.
Let me give you a clear picture that what I want to do..!
I've a MIF file and XML file that has the details of text frames and its contents in the MIF. XML looks like

Need a MIF file that has frames available in XML file and replace the variables with the values given in tag and keep the static text as it is.
I'm trying the other way now, Open the MIF file and delete all the text frames except the frames mentioned in the XML file and save as new file.
Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong here..! That will save my time and effort.
Am I clear on my query? and what I wanted to achive ? Let me know otherwise..!

How do I disable copy/paste for most (but not all) of a .pdf?

Hello, I'm trying to create a .pdf document that is a "how-to" guide. I'd like to disable copy/pasting from 95% of this document, with the exception of a few sections that i'd like my users to be able to copy and paste and use as email templates. I've gone ahead and set pasword security settings and un-checked the box for "enable copying of text, images, and other content". Is there any way that I can enable copy/paste for just a few small sections of my document? or is it an "all or none" function?

Using browser javascript to copy selected text from a pdf file opened in Air app.

I have posted this question on reader forum as well, but I think it is more suited here...
I am trying to create a note-taking application in air. I want to extract selected text from pdf file as a string object or to the clipboard.
Obviously, all pdfs in my local storage will not be scripted to recieve postMessages and act accordingly, and that is not practical either. So, my problem is, how can I copy the selected text in the pdf file (opened as an object in htmlloader within my Air app) to clipboard or directly in another control by say clicking a button in air application? I suppose, this is possible using javascript, however, I don't know which reader methods are exposed to the wrapper htmlloader control. In short, I want to execute app.execMenuItem("Copy") command through htmlloader javascript. Any alternate solutions are also welcome.
This is similar to passing inbuilt commands/methods/functions (of adobe reader) to pdf-reader plugin embedded in a webpage via javascript. This is possible in IE where the pdf is rendered as activex object, and hence JSObject interface of pdf document/reader is accessible to the browser javascript. I have also read that this same JSObject is accessible to VB as interface for IAC, so as the Air is Adobe's own product, I was wondering if equivalent of JSObject is accessible to htmlloader control as well.

As it is explicitly mentioned, that the functionality of adobe reader are exposed for plugin development, I thought someone here might have used external javascript to execute some safe methods in adobe reader. The functionality (i.e. external javascript interface-JSObject) is already available for VB programmers to develop IAC. Further, the Acrobat SDK example called "AcroPDFinHML" shows how one can embed a pdf-reader in a html page and execute some safe methods (like gotonextpage(), zooming etc.) in IE as ActiveX plugin. I have checked it myself for adobe reader 9, and it works perfectly, so there is no security issue as such to implement the same for another browser (like in my case, the htmlloader control in flex/air app).
I intend to create a note taking application in air, where it is very much required that I should be able to copy selected text from various pdf documents, that are open in my app, and subsequently paste/collect/save the collected notes and process them afterwords (offcourse, from the pdfs that allow me copying text). However, it is not happening for me here. As the pdfs are opened through adobe reader plugin, it does not register the copy command executed by my air app. It registers the system level copy command (by keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C), but my air app has no way to execute the system level copy command programmatically. So I am kind of stuck here...

How to copy link text from links?

Currently when selecting a link, there is no easy option to copy link text. This feature should be implemented to be one of the options in the popup menu once a link is selected, alongside with "Open Link in New Tab"; "Copy Link"; !"Copy Link Text"!; "Share Link"; "Bookmark Link".
This menu option will provide a convenient way to browse through search results and other various links and will add to the efficiency of navigation of web pages.

Hi eva88, are you copying from a webpage or from the address bar? If you copy a link from a webpage, Gmail should pick up the HTML as is from the original. But when you copy from the address bar, you need to take the extra step of using the "link" button in Gmail. Due to changes in the Gmail UI, this may be harder to find, but for me, it appears when mousing over the lower part of the compose box. I've attached a series of screen shots showing where I see it.

Difficulty copying PDF text to Excel doc

Copying the text in some Adobe Reader documents results in non-standard characters when pasted in Excel document. In other Adobe Reader documents the text copies and pastes correctly. I have checked the Adobe Reader preferences and document properties (Security) and found no differences between documents that support text copying correctly and those that do not (result in non-standard characters). Please indicate how I might resolve this problem.

Copying empty text boxes so that when you fill in one the others

I use Acrobat Professional 8. I size a blank text box... it's automatically labelled "Text1". I can copy the empty box by holding the Control key down and moving the box. Now I have 2 boxes. If I want to do 3 boxes, I repeat that action. The only problem is this: They all say "Text1" and if you fill in the first box, all the other boxes are filled in with the same information. Here is my question: How do I copy empty text boxes so that this doesn't happen; that is, how do I copy the boxes such that if I fill in the first box, all the other boxes remain empty until I go and fill them? Please. Thank you.

Somethings to try:
Give each of the replicated Text boxes a unique name (Text1, Text2, Text3, etc.)
Or, place Text1 then from the context menu select "Place Multiple Fields".
This replicates the first and provides a unique Name to each.
Position each field as desired.
