Acrobat Preview mode doesn't show PMS spot colors

Out of the blue, the preview mode in Acrobat 9 is showing PMS spot colors as black, CMYK colors show up fine. The actual pdf itself is fine. This happens when I make pdfs "High Quality" or "Press Quality" from Indesign 6. Curiously, it does not happen when I make a "Smallest File". However when I attach these pdfs to email, the spot colors appear black.
I've been using 9 for a long time and I've been using Indesign 6 for a few months now. I'm on a Mac Pro, OSX 10.6.8. I can't figure out if there is something that was unchecked or checked that is causing this problem to come up seemingly out of nowhere.

It was correct for Adobe to use the Lab alternate color space for display of Pantone spot colors. Why? Two reasons:
(1)     InDesign and Illustrator are now consistent with Photoshop's behaviour with non-process color channels. This interoperability issue has been complained about for years.
(2)     When one referred to the CMYK alternate color space values of Pantone colors, the question naturally comes up as to which CMYK color space those deviceCMYK values represent. Are those values for SWOP or Gracol or what? According to what Pantone told me personally years ago, they were SWOP, but not so-labelled. Thus, unless your output CMYK color space is SWOP, use of those CMYK colors is simply wrong!!! Using Lab alternate colors will allow whatever renders those spot colors in either RGB or CMYK to properly render them in the actual final color space!
Unfortunately, there is nothing that Adobe can do to cause Apple's preview product to properly display these colors. By the way, this problem also afflicts the built-in PDF viewer in the iOS products as well as MacOS X. Fortunately, under MacOS, you can easily download and install the free Adobe Reader and have it do all the PDF display in lieu of Apple's preview. Although we do have Adobe Reader available for iOS, Apple does not let us replace preview in iOS for PDF preview. You must view in preview and send the file to Adobe Reader.
Of course, if enough Apple users complained to Apple management about the numerous anomalies of its preview program, maybe after all these years, they might actually fix it to properly handle Lab colors (as well as transparency).

Custom-portlet-mode doesn't show

All,
I created a sample JSR 286 portlet and selected to show about mode (keeping view and edit) default. wizard creates a default about.jsp. However when i added another tag for preview, link to pick preview mode doesn't show in the top right corner (view actions menu) of portlet. Any idea what i am doing wrong.

After i de and register again the portlet producer it showed up.
However the content of this is being displayed in a completely different page. Do you know how i can keep the response within the same portlet.

ITunes' Taskbar-playing mode doesn't show itself if ObjectBar Installed

iTunes' Taskbar-playing mode doesn't show itself if ObjectBar Installed and disabled. Stardock said that iTunes doesn't recognize Objectbar when I tell the Stardock support. The iTunes menu bar in ObjectBar won't appear unless you are using it with iTunes Multi-pluggin. Even with this pluggin. iTunes doesn't shrink into the taskbar as taskbar-playing mode. Stardock said that this feature won't be available unless Apple can recognize ObjectBar as a valid taskbar replacement.

This is the message that I composed to Stardock Support about iTunes' compatibility on ObjectBar:

ObjectBar doesn't disable this feature specifically. ObjectBar hides the Taskbar to reduce redundancy, but iTunes had likely been written to hardcode the taskbar-playing mode into the Windows taskbar and doesn't recognize ObjectBar.
Unfortunately this feature will not be available unless Apple can recognize ObjectBar as a valid taskbar replacement.
But I'm already tell these problems to Apple.

When Searching for attachments to mail, preview mode doesn't work

When I am in mail and am composing a new email and I click "Attach" to attach a file, the current folder comes up and shows the preview mode of every file type (i.e. pictures and pdf previews). No problems. However, if I then do a search for something (my name for example) to narrow down my choices of files or images to select, the next search level does not show a preview of the files or images, just a .pdf icon or the .jpeg icon - NO PREVIEW. This is extremely frustrating! I tried on different folders and the same results occurred. Any ideas or is this a bug?

I couldn't reproduce this issue, when I create root folder FS0 in "Shared Documents" and start a full crawl, I click the FS0 link from search results page, it will open the FS0 folder as well as folder under FS0.
Please right-click the FS0 name hyperlink (e.g. mine is http://sp/Shared%20Documents/FS0) and paste in IE browser see if it could be accessed successfully.
Also test if other Shared Documents have this issue in other site collection or web applications, if not, run a full crawl may do a trick (please reset search index if only full crawl still doesn't work).

Preview mode doesn't display correctly

Lately I have had many problems in preview mode. I had to restart the program to see preview mode correctly. I waste time (on restart, then run the program, and test again the preview mode) each time is not doing correctly. It will be great if someone can help me!

No, they just display on your browser, when you close your browser the files are deleted.
I personally like to use preview in browser, I can preview a designed page in Chrome, Firefox and Explorer by just coping the address.

PDDocColorConvertPage doesn't convert the Spot Color "All"

Hello,
I use the PDDocColorConvertPage() method to convert a page to DeviceGray (with the AC_Color gray 1.8).
Unfortunately the spot color "All" is still a spot color after the conversion (but the alternate color space is DeviceGray). Is it a normal behavior? Is it specific to the spot color "All" because it's a special case?

Correct.
I believe there is a flag you can set on the ColorConvert API to get rid of that too, if you really want – but All is special.

Preview mode doesn't display slide shows

I have the most recent Muse CC v7.1 Build 329, and Mac OS 10.9.1.
My machine is an iMac 27 (12,2) with 24 Gb RAM.
Any slide show created in Muse fails to display in "Preview" and "Preview in Browser". I have also downlaoded the "Katie's Cafe" tutorial file, and the slide show in the final file also fails to preview in these 2 modes.
Once exported to HTML. there seems to be no problem in the website files. The inability to preview without going to these lengths is a problem.
Is there a solution?

If you copy over the link/URL that you see in the browser's address field when you use Preview in Browser and then open that link in another browser, do you see the slideshow working?

Preview Display doesn't show - why?

It must be something simple - but I can't get it - why the Preview Display is black?
Scopes show color data all right but no Preview (
Still Store is the same - scopes juxtapose, Preview stays black.
Why is this so?

Solved it.
I was using the hardware accelerated graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, on my MacBook Pro. When I switched to the integrated "better battery life" card in System Preferences and logged out/in again the display came back.
Pretty dumb that Color doesn't run on the hardware card, but there you have it.

Layer blend mode doesn't show in export

Hi,
I am trying to export a composition from After Effects CC, I am using a Multiply blending mode in most of my layers to give it a better look.
When previewing in after effects it looks as I want it too look but when I add to AME and export it to youtube and vimeo the Multiply blending mode does not work and it shows the composition as if all the layers had NORMAL blending mode.
How can I fix this?

Render a normal Image sequence or Quicktime clip directly from AE and convert it in AME, which would be smarter, anyway.

Can't see any email messages, the email and 2 line preview show, but no message or attachments, why?

Try closing the Mail app completely and see if the emails show when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

In earlier versions of iTunes the taskbar playing-mode showed details of the current track (title, artist, album illustration) on mouse-over.
The new version (10.6.1.7) lacks this function.
Is this a change Apple made and will it come back? Or is it just a setting in the Preferences which I can't find?

Why are line graphics not showing up in Preview Mode when they show in Normal view mode?

I am using CS4, I've used InDesign for 4 years. I can not figure out why this is happening...
From the Tools panel, I am using the line and circle tools. Drawing lines (arrows) and circles on my document, with a stroke weight of 1. The lines are the top item on my page, the last thing I draw. I draw lines that would go over not only other graphics, but over text as well.
Problem is that they only show up in Normal view, not Preview view. Hence, I don't think they will show up on the final document.
I've used these tools often, and the lines not showing is a new problem. Can anyone shed some light on why this might be happening?

I looked and yes "nonprinting" was ticked in the Attributes panel. THANK YOU :-)

Acrobat X plugin doesn't show up in Chrome

On mij PC (Windows 7 Pro) I have installed Acrobat X Standard 10.1.7.
Today (20130608) I installed Chrome, besides Chrome I use Internet Explorer 10.
The Acrobat Toolbar appears in IE, as it always did. However the Acrobat Toolbar does not appear in Chrome.
The toolbar also is not present in the list of plugins of Chrome, in the list there is a Adobe Reader plugin version 10.1.7.27.
In the list of extensions the Acrobat plugin doesn't appear either.
I tried a repair installation of Acrobat, without success.

Acrobat X plugin is not compatible with Chrome. Acrobat XI is.

Design mode doesn't show anything after import

I just installed Flash Builder 4 and selected a small project I was working with in Flex 3. It gave me a warning upgrading the directory which I did and loaded up the base .mxml file. I ran it and it worked ok. I then went into design mode to add more controls and the window is blank. I tried to refresh and still nothing. Any ideas on how to get around this?

I created a new flex project and I get the design window. Also in the original project I can add items, say a button, to the design window but it dissapears when I release the mouse button. However, it does add it to the code and I also see it when I run the project.

In the new project I created I copied over the source XMLListCollection and added it into the Declarations tags and the visual controls but left the application header intact. I lost the ability to see the design view after I did that. So I commented out all the code I put in place and still got the same issue with dragging a control onto the page and it dissapears. However, it shows in code and also shows when running. Again, everything else is commented out. I then deleted all the code except for the original code put in place by Flash Builder 4 and encounted the same issues.

Place panoramic window in Acrobat but it doesn't show if converted to a page flip brochure

I am using Acrobat to insert a swf file of a 360 degree window so a user can view a room all around. This can be added to a PDF document no problems but I would like to convert the document to a page turning brochure. I have tried converting the document with the swf file in the PDF but it is not showing in the page flip brochure.
Does anybody know if this is possible or reasons why it is not working or can be corrected.
