Acrobat Pro 6.0 with Windows 8.1

Is there a way to make Acrobat Pro 6.0 on Windows 8.1?

Even if you succeed in installing the package, you would have to deal with a lot of workaround to get it to function. The print driver and AcroTray are two parts of the package that will fail. It is time to purchase a new version. AA6 is too old for an upgrade.

  • Will Acrobat Pro 7 Work with Windows 7?    It did NOT with Vista.

I create fillable forms using Pro and have never had any problem getting Acrobat Pro to install the PDF driver with Windows 6 or XP.
However, I have tried every "solution" offered by Adobe to get the driver to install on my new notebook which runs on Vista.  I have also downloaded and installed both Vista service packs.  The driver still will not install,
Without the converter driver, I cannot do a substantial portion of my work on the new computer.
I was going to upgrade to Acrobat Pro 8 but found out from other irritated users that Pro 8 also failed to install the driver using Vista.
Am I the only customer who thinks there is really shoddy support from Adobe on this issue?
I am willing to upgrade to Windows 7.  However, if Pro fails to work with Windows 7 like it did with Vista then the upgrade would be another waste of my money.  If we cannot depend on Acrobat Pro to work on the Windows platform, my company (5000+ employees) is going to have to find other software.
Has anyone had success getting Acrobat Pro (7, 8, OR 9) to install the PDF converter driver with Windows 7 ?
    Thanks!

What is the "method" to get around issues with Windows 7 64bit?  My XP machine failed and I've bought a new one running Windows 7 64bit.  I'm trying to get a credit card statement, but I can't read it because the  downloaded Acrobat 9 I'm trying to install - won't install. Something about it not being "compatible" with Windows Vista and 7 operating 64bit.  How long has Vista been around?? - at least a couple years. Why hasn't Acrobat been able to get "compatable" in all this time??  Right now it seems I'm screwed because I unknowiing bought a 64bit machine.
I've been told at work that the answer is to get some sort of similated 32bit operation going that Acrobat can handle. Can you please tell me how to do that? I'd really appreciate your help.

  • Is there anything I can do to make Acrobat Pro 6 compatible with Windows 7?

    Hello,
I have a brand new Windows 7 laptop and I'm trying to use Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 on it. I ran the installation without a problem, however when I try to use it, I get an error message, which says that Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 is not compatible with Windows 7 operating system. Is there any driver or anything that I can download to make it work? Thank you in advance for any help.

Win 7 either comes with a virtural XP machine installed, or it's freelly availible.  I forget which, but this may be a simple solution to your issue.

I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. The only way I can stop Acrobat is by means of the task manager. I tried to de-install and the re- install Acrobat but the behaviour is always the same. What can I do??

Have you opened Acrobat and gone to Help>Updates to get an updated install?

  • I have Acrobat Pro 9 installed on Windows 8

I have Acrobat Pro 9 installed on Windows 8 and it asked me to download Adobe Reader 11.0.09 Font Packs - Asian and Extended Language Pack but it says I need Adobe Reader XI to be installed first.  Will this pack work with Acrobat Pro 9?  Is there a different pack for Acrobat Pro 9?  Thanks for any help.
Also: I am not doing anything with languages other than English.  I don't read them or write them.  I just use English. Why do I need such a pack?

    Hi Hanoch ,
Compatibility of Acrobat 9 with Windows 8 could be a reason that you are facing such an issue.
As Acrobat 9 is an older version ,that could be one of the reasons it is prompting you to download the Reader 11.0.09 Font Packs.
Would request you to check for an update first ,and if it fails try switching on to the latest version of Acrobat ,i.e 11.0.10.
    To check for Updates.
Launch Acrobat>Navigate to Help>Check for Updates.
You may also want to refer to the following link.

    Hey quantum info,
Thank you for posting at Adobe forums. We would love to help you out.
Could you please let me know if you have tried converting other web pages to PDF and checked if the same issue persists.
How have you been trying to convert the web page to PDF?
Are you trying to convert to PDF directly via browsers or using "File > Create > PDF from Web Page"  option in Acrobat.
Let me know more so that I can analyze where actually the issue persists.
    Hope to hear from you.

    Hey jeroenb16613921,
Please specify exactly when you get this white popup screen. While opening a PDF or launching Acrobat by double-clicking on the Acrobat icon.
If it comes when opening a PDF, then where is this PDF actually stored?
Let me know more on the same so that I can analyze the issue.

  • I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) machine. It won't start.

I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro XI on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) machine. I double click the desktop icon and double click on a PDF file and the hour glass (circle) appears for about 5 seconds but no Adobe Acrobat.

If it's not launching you can try repairing it from the control panel.  If that doesn't work then try reinstalling it.

  • How can I get Acrobat 7 Pro to work with Windows 8.1 Pro?

Apparently Acrobat Pro 7 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 Pro X64. I am trying to save a web page to pdf but this feature does not work in Windows 8.1 Pro. Is there a patch or update that will fix this problem?

It might be possible to get a lot of it working, but you will have to install a separate PS driver and rename it Adobe PDF and set the port to File. The print process is then to print to the Adobe PDF printer and then open the created file in Distiller to complete the process. I have been successful with this on a Win7, 64-bit system, but not tried it on a Win8 system. You are pretty much on your own if problems arise, unless you are willing to try wild suggestions that we might give (guesses really).

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 crashing in Windows Vista - Need help

    Hi,
I have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 in my system which has OS Windows Vista with SP1 and everytime I open a pdf using my newly installed adobe acrobat it crashes.
The general trend it after 10 seconds from opening that pdf file, it just automatically closes itself. I checked the system process and didn't see the adobe process running after it closed itself. So I feel it just crashes for some unknown reason.
I have 1440 X 900 resolution. Don't know if that can be a problem, but I have tried reducing the resolution too but with no help.
Can anyone help me solve this problem.

Since this is a USER TO USER forum, not Adobe support, and as the
only way another user could reply is if they had that exact problem
and also had a solution, you may need to contact Adobe for help
