Acrobat Pro 7 Suddenly Won't launch

I'm trying to print a PDF I made last week, and Acrobat Pro 7 won't launch. I get the standard "The application Acrobat quit unexpectedly." message - no codes like some others I've seen. I'm planning to upgrade to CS4 in January, but I have to get work done NOW!
Any help is appreciated.

My permissions have been repaired. Still not launching, but it does pretend for about 30 seconds before I get them window.
As for preferences, where the heck are they hiding? OS X doesn't make that search easy. I have a lot of preference files related to Adobe, and four for Acrobat. I have removed each one, tried to boot Acrobat, and after failing put the file back.
I'm surprised that there is nothing addressing this item in the knowledgebase.

  • Newly installed Acrobat Pro 8 won't launch

I have installed, uninstalled then reinstalled but each time I try to launch the app after what appears to be a successful install (no errors and I have no apps running in background) I get a message that it unexpectedly quit and to relaunch. I relaunch but get another message to reset and relaunch. The app never does open. I am running Leopard. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem.  Apparently, there was an update and after that installation, I haven't been able to open Acrobat. Did you have this problem after an update?  I was going to try re-installing, but it looks like you tried that and it didn't work.  Any one have any ideas??  I'm running Leopard, but was planning to update to Snow Leopard soon.

If I'm not mistaken, this drive is bus-powered. MBPs seem to have frequent problems with bus-powered drives, probably because they don't provide enough power on the USB bus.
In disk utility though it says it is a 2.2TB hard drive
It is possible that the drive or USB interface are damaged. However, it is too early to decide. You need to connect the drive to a desktop machine (Mac or PC), or provide more power to the drive (with a power supply, if the drive accepts it, or a USB Y-cable and a USB power supply, rated 1A or more).

Did you select "Preserve User Settings"?
Archive and Install installation automatically moves existing system files to a folder named Previous System, then installs Mac OS X again. (See tip 3.) You cannot start up your computer using a Previous System folder, nor can you "re-bless" the Previous System folder. (See tip 1.)
You can choose to preserve your user and network settings before installing. This option automatically moves existing users, Home directories, and network settings. This also skips the Setup Assistant after installation.
Note: Because the "Preserve user and network settings" option moves, not copies, existing users, Home directories, and network settings, from the Previous Systems folder to the newly installed System, these items will not exist in the Previous Systems folder after the Archive and Install is complete.

BTW, it is never recommended to do a major OS change without having a full, bootable backup.

Purchased acrobat pro but won't open when I sign in

    Hi Coloredge,
What operating system are you on, and what happens when you try to open Acrobat? Do you receive any sort of error message?  Did you run into any trouble when you downloaded and installed Acrobat?
I look forward to hearing back from you so that we can get to the bottom of this.
    Best,

  • My Macbook Pro suddenly won't read my hard drive.

My Macbook Pro suddenly won't read my 750GB WD Elements Hard drive.
It was working earlier today but when I went to press play on my TV show in VLC it said the files couldn't be read. So i reopended them all and they still didn't work. I closed down all programs running that could possibly be using my hard drive but it said it was being used so I force ejected it and when I plugged it back in it didn't work.
It comes up with an error message "this disk can't be read by this computer" but it still shows up in disk utility. In disk utility though it says it is a 2.2TB hard drive which confuses me. also I the buttons for "verify disk" and "repair disk" are greyed out.
Is there something that I can do to try and get my hard drive working again?

  • My mail program on my macbook pro suddenly won't let me send e-mails?

My mail program on my macbook pro suddenly won't let me send e-mails even though I can receive e-mails. I have checked with the connection doctor and it shows me everything is fine. The program haas been running perfectly fine for the last year, but now its bugging out. Can anyone give me any tipe on how to fix this? Thank you.

The problem is one of the following:
    Your SMTP server is provided by a carrier which only allows the outgoing mail server to be used when you are connected to their network. Receiving emails will always work, but sending emails will only work when you are connected via their connection;
Your SMTP server is down - contact your email provider

  • Final Cut Pro 7 suddenly won't launch

I have had this same configuration working for almost 2 years and suddenly, Final Cut Pro 7 won't start.
    I have:
    Mid 2012 15" Macbook Pro i7 2.3 Quad
    8GB Ram
    512MB Nvida Graphics card
    FCP 7.0.3
    MacOS 10.8.5
It gets through asking for hardware setup, then hangs.  Under Force Quit it goes to red (Not Responding)
    I've done the following:
Trashed preferences manually, then used the Digital Rebellion utility to trash preferences
    Repaired Permissions
    Zapped PRAM
    Still won't start
Uninstalled all apps and plug ins with the FCS Remover utility
Re-installed FCP 7.  Tried to launch without updating, no go.
    Uninstalled again
Re-installed and updated before launch, it will go through profiling for RT, then hangs.  Under Force Quit it goes to red (Not Responding)
It was not updated to the latest ProCodec update (1.0.5?)  The only thing that I've installed between the last time FCP worked and now was Blackmagic Davinci Lite.  Any thoughts?

    I'd try uninstalling DaVinci.  I

  • After Win 8.1 upgrade, Acrobat 9 Pro suddenly won't run

I have Web Premium CS4, and Acrobat Pro v. 9.5.5.  I bought a new  Window 8.0 computer 90 days ago, installed the suite, activated, and everything ran fine. Yesterday, I upgraded to Win 8.1. Now, when I open Acrobat Pro, I get a pop-up message saying that it was installed as part of a suite, and to open another program in the suite first. When I click OK, Acrobat closes. I have tried opening nearly every other program in the suite (Bridge, Flash, Photoshop 64-bit), they run OK, but Acrobat will still not run, and there are no activation messages.  I checked my Adobe account, and my version of Acrobat Pro 9 is still listed, with serial number.
I'm very disappointed, as I use Acrobat Pro quite a bit, and currently it will not stay open at all. Other than telephoning Adobe for help (no free support # listed), or using on-line chat (no link available), or e-mailing them (no address listed)...what can I do to "activate" it?
I've tried opening Acrobat Distiller and get the same message, but when I close it, I see a brief flash of what appears to be an input box with activation stuff.  It only appears for half-a-second, so I cannot do anything with it.

Bill, thanks for that info. I don't think I would ever expect to get any support from Adobe on these programs, since I stopped buying revisions after CS4. I was surprised that I was even able to successfully install the CS4 Web suite onto Win 8.0, and Win 8.1 probably adds another couple hundred million lines of redundant code from our friends in Bill Gates-Land.
However, my A-Pro9 problem did resolve unexpectedly!  I tried opening all the suite's programs, one at a time, and then Acrobat, with no luck. Then I realized that the suite had installed both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Photoshop (I use the 64-bit version) onto my new 64-bit computer.  So, when I opened the *32-bit Photoshop* for a minute, closed it, and re-opened Acrobat 9, it went back to working normally.  I'll take it!

  • Acrobat X intermittently won't launch, multiple Acrobat.exe processes hanging in task manager

Apologies if this is in the wrong community area - I was unsure where it belongs.
This is an intermittent issue, but does happen several times a day.
Regardless of what method is used to launch Acrobat (double-clicking a PDF, clicking the shortcut in the taskbar, selecting Acrobat from the start menu), often the application won't launch. Upon investigation, task manager shows multiple instances of Acrobat.exe, although the application is not running (see the image below). Ending all Acrobat.exe processes does allow Acrobat to launch.
Any thoughts as to what might be causing this, as well as a more permanent fix? The workaround of constantly ending multiple processes is becoming cumbersome.
We are running Acrobat X Pro in Windows 7. I also have several CC 2014 apps installed (as well as a couple of earlier versions required for plugin functionality).

This happens all the time in my company with several installs of Acrobat.
The only way to fix this for us is to end each process in Task Manager as you have pointed out.
It is very time consuming in our workflow as we each operator deals with hundreds of PDFs daily, and has to do this End Process procedure several times a day.
We have done several tests and nothing seems to stop this from happening.

  • Acrobat Pro XI won't update using CC desktop

I have CC for teams and Acrobat XI Pro will not update through the Creative Cloud desktop app on Macs (haven't tested Windows yet). As a test I removed all instances of Adobe from my system (apps, application support files, prefs, launch daemons, everything) and installed the latest Creative Cloud desktop application (1.7.2.419 as of 9/3/14). Logged in and installed Acrobat Pro and it installed version 11.0.0., not 11.0.7, or any previous version. Ok, so its installing an old version, kind of odd but surely the CC desktop app will know its out of date and offer an update. Nope. How about a restart... nope again. I tried this on a couple other systems and got the same results so it appears that the CC desktop app is installing out of date versions of the apps and then not recognizing they're out of date.
Is this happening for anyone else?

i installed acrobat xi cc a few days ago (on a new computer).  it just now updated from 11.0.0 to 11.0.8 (i think)

  • After migrating to new Mac Pro Dreamweaver won't launch, says missing menus.xml file. How do I resolve this?

After migration to a new Mac Pro Dreamweaver CS6 won't launch. It says it is missing menus.xml file. How do I resolve this?

    Hi rustyg12,
    Go to Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CS6/Configuration/Menus/menus.bak
You'll see a menus.xml there - it is a backup copy of the actual menus.xml file that DW uses.
Copy it from that folder, paste it 1 level above (in Menus folder).
Fire up DW. See if it works.

  • Acrobat Pro XI won't even open, immediately shuts down

My trial period finished, and I just bought the license, but it won't work.
As soon as I double click on the acrobat pro application, it just shows a window for about 5 seconds and immediately shuts down... I can't believe i payed for this and haven't been able to use it.
    I have OS X 10.9.5
    and then I get this...

    someone help please!!

  • Acrobat Pro XI won't download to my 64 bit Win Vista Machine - Why?

Is it because it runs on an AMD Turlon 64 bit processor or is It Vista, the dinosaur?  Any help with how to proceed would be appreciated... I bought the "car" (Acrobat Pro XI), but the Dealer (Adobe) won't let me park it in my garage (Laptop) because the roof is 5 years old on my house. I jest, but you get the analogy...
All i really want to do is password protect a PDF that I was sent and then filled the form and want to email to someone else and I don't want just anyone to be able to open the completed form...any tips here and maybe I can return the car to the dealer.. haha

Thanks for the info on security.  Not sure the other party I am intending to send the document to is technically capable  to handle certificates.
i Suppose if I could use a 128 hashed key as the password, it might be "good enough".
On a lighter side, a halfway decent password (non dictionary words) is STILL better than shopping at a Billion $$ Furtune 1000 company like Target, Home Depot, or TJ Mexx to name a few (100 Milion cumomter account info stolen)..
To continue my analog, I'm not ready to build a new grage for the new car just quite yet.... so the car goes back to the dealer...
So, I am still looking for a way to pasword protect a PDF. Does it need to occur at time of  PDF document creation?
thanks in advance if someone knows a solution to my Password issue.

  • ITunes suddenly won't launch

I suddenly can't launch iTunes. I have followed Apple's iTunes uninstall procedure to the letter, restarted my computer and downloaded and reinstalled iTunes, the latest version. It won't even open.
It crashed while I was updating my iPod Touch. I realised it was filing the empty space with music which was going to take too long and clicked off the option. The program suddenly crashed and now won't launch. I removed everything to do with iTunes and reinstalled it several times. Still not working. Are there other files that iTunes uses that are not listed but might be causing the problem? I don't want to have to reinstall the entire operating system and all my programs again just to use iTunes.

Oh yeah... I tried deleting the com.apple.iTunes.plist file. Didn't do anything. Also verified the disk (no issues) and repaired permissions. None of that fixed it...
