Acrobat Pro 9.0 date fields

hi, I am having trouble in date fields in a form I developed in Designer (Acrobat Pro 9.0).  I have two problems.  1.  I have a date field for DOB (Date of Birth).  When any dates are clicked or entered with a year of 1929 or earlier, Adobe converts it to 2029 and so on.  So I cannot enter in anyone over 80 years old.  Not good.  How do I fix this?  2.  When I get out of my Adobe Pro and check out my form myself I am able to use the cool feature where you click on the white part in between the arrows in a date drop down box and I can easily get to early 1900's years.  When I have distributed my form those users don't seem to have that feature.  The top of their date drop down box is blue.  how do I get theirs to work like mine?
Thanks in advance!

  • LiveCycle Designer 8/ Acrobat Pro 8-form data

    Not skilled in using the LiveCycle Designer included in Acrobat Pro 8, I have been struggling for a couple of weeks, trying to format a sample form and export data to a .csv file to read in Excel or notepad, once saved in .pdf and completed. I have the basics, but can't accomplish the more advanced. So far, I have used LiveCycle Deisgner to create a one page table form, with a header, 20 columns and 16 rows. The header cells are all text boxes labeling the columns below them. The rows have mostly text input cells/boxes, a few drop- down list boxes.
    I can complete, in .pdf, a couple of sample lines with made-up names, other data as a test. It will save, the using manage form data>merge data files into a spreadsheet, I can create a .csv and view it in Excel.
    Here's where the difficulty begins. I need the .csv to display every cell/box, even if blank, and in the correct row. The form data will be used by a genetics program's import module to import data and needs to be either a .txt or .csv tab, comma or other symbol (for example, @) delimited file, where blanks are represented by one extra delimiter (as a spacer) for each blank. The .csv data display is anything but that. The header runs across the first .csv row with names like :"form1[0].ID1[0]" while the only other row showing is all of the sample data from the .pdf's 2 completed sample data lines, all in one row, with some blank cells/boxes shown, and some not shown.
    Since eventually, once the form is "up and running," it can collect 50+ rows, I was hoping not to have to manually edit the .csv to get it into the acceptable format for the other program's import module.
    I am at a loss about how to set up the form in LiveCycle Designer so that the header row doesn't export to the .csv (I am unable to find the data binding controls for these text/header boxes to set them to "none."), the blank cells/boxes all register, rather than only some, and the row 1 data goes on the .csv's row 1 and the row 2 data to the .csv's row 2, etc., rather than an endlessly long single row.
    I've already searched forum's, plus the help files for LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat, with no success.
    Any ideas, solutions or places where I can check further would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hi,
    With LC Designer you can develop a form which has data connections to databases and/or web services.
    The issues to consider are: what version of Acrobat will the user have; and if the user only has the Reader then how are you Reader Extending the form.
    User has the fulll version of Acrobat:
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will work;
    user can save the form.
    User has the Reader (form not Reader Enabled)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
    user CANNOT save the form.
    User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full version of Acrobat before deployment. See licence restrictions)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will NOT work;
    user can save the form.
    User has the Reader (form Reader Enabled using the full LC Enterprise Suite)
    user can open form;
    fill it in;
    print it;
    data connections to databases and web services will work;
    user can save the form.
    Hope that helps,

  • Can Acrobat auto populate a date field upon digital signature of a form?

    We use several fillable forms with digital ID signature fields.  A business rule requires a date field next to the signature field.  Is it possible to define the date field to auto populate once the user signs the form?  I can't check this in Acrobat since I only have the reader.

    Hi,
    The short answer is yes, but of course you'll need to get Acrobat to edit the PDF file.
    Generically, here is what  you are looking to do:
    Open the Digital Signature Properties dialog
    Select the Signed tab
    Select the This script executes when the field is signed radio button
    Click the Edit button
    Add the code snippet below to the JavaScript editor
    Click the OK button on the JavaScript editor
    Click the Close button on the Digital Signature Properties dialog
    // JavaScript code to add the date at signing time
        var currentTime = new Date()
        var month = currentTime.getMonth() + 1
        var day = currentTime.getDate()
        var year = currentTime.getFullYear()
        var signingTime = day +"/"+month+"/"+year  //Modify into your preferred format
        var f = this.getField("Text1");  //Modify the field name as necessary
        f.value = signingTime;
    Good luck,
    Steve

  • Acrobat Pro XI Conditionally Required Fields

    have developed a simple form in Acrobat Pro xi. Need an example of javescript and where it should be placed. Form has three fields named: SpouseName, SpouseDOB, SpouseGender. All three fields are set to Not Required. If an entry is made in SpouseName, want to set SpouseDOB and SpouseGender to required. The form has a submit button on it and I assume that the code should go on a action on the submit but not sure. Any type of simple example will be greatly appreciated!

    Use this code as the custom validation script of SpouseName:
    this.getField("SpouseDOB").required = (event.value!="");
    this.getField("SpouseGender").required = (event.value!="");

  • Format Date Form Field in Adobe Acrobat Pro

    Thanks in advance for your help. I have date fields in an Acrobat form. Is it possible to create a script to format a date as either MM/DD/YYYY or MM/DD/YY? In other words, if someone enters MM/DD/YYYY, the date would be accepted and MM/DD/YY would also be accepted. Thanks, again.

    Since the time measurement is based on a sattilite revolving around another object in space, much of the concepts and measurements apply to rocket science. But I do not know if all rocket scientist woudl get it. Wasn't there a sattilite that mixed miles and kilometers within the navigation program with a suprising result.
    One needs to get to a common unit and then just do the math.
    Actually JavaScript does have an adjustment for the Date.getYear if the date object is established with the 4 digit year.
    I had a recent issue at work. I work from the U.S and have to access data on a server in the UK using Remote Desktop and the remote deskto is configured for the UK date format unless the user changes it. In prior years the data was processed on servers in the U.S. with U.S. date format. There were many instances when the date and month were swithed and requires over a month to fix. Thank you Microsoft Certified Network Administrators.

  • Fillable fields disappearing in Acrobat pro 9

    I am having a problem with a fillable form I distributed where some are being returned with fields that have been deleted.
    Here are the details I have so far:
    When I say deleted I do not just mean blank. When I tell the form to highlight fields there will be no field on specific pages and when I try to examine the document I can find nothing on those pages. Every problem pdf is missing the same field on page three while some are misssing other fields as well.
    Security is enabled. I am not able to edit these pdfs. It appears they have enabled usage rights in Adobe Reader. However, save as copy only removes this about half the time and never brings back the fields.
    When I try to save as copy I usually get the message "There was a problem reading this doucment (110)" The file will save, but I still cannot edit.
    Sometimes I will get the error that this file may be read only, or another user may have it open. In this case the file will save and I may then be able to edit it, but the missing fields do not return.
    If I look at properties these files are not marked read-only.
    I can get both of these errors for the same file at diffrent times and I have not figured out why.
    I can supposedly export data from these pdfs but when I try to import the data into a working copy of the same form it stays blank.
    We have had problems before with copies of this form prepared on Macs appearing blank, but we were easily able to import the data into a new form so that it became visible. However in this case several people have already mentioned that they were already using a PC or sent a new copy from PC which had the same problems.
    This form has been in use for a while but this appears to be a recent problem. We sent it out two months ago and only recieved one copy with this problem. This time we suddenly have about 1 in 30 forms returned with this problem. Everyone I have been able to contact about this has said they are still able to see the missing fields on their computers.
    I am using Adobe acrobat pro 9 and as far as I know it has not undegone any majoy updates recently. I still do not know if there is any trend specific to the people filling out these forms.
    Thank you for any help. I have been trying to troubleshoot this for a few days but have not found anything that fixes this specific problem.

    Is the file size of these problem files similar to the original blank version or is it significantly larger? Can you confirm what PDF viewer the user used (e.g., Adobe Reader, Microsoft Reader, etc.)? How are the forms being returned to you? It would be helpful to be able to look at a sample, but my guess is the file has become corrupted somehow.

  • Acrobat Pro XI transposes numbers for month and day in dates when saving optimized pdf to Excel spreadsheet.

    Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and Excel 14.3.8 on a mac.
    Saved PDF as "optimized PDF" then "save as other" > spreadsheet > Microsoft Excel Workbook.
    Problem: numbers in some random dates are  transposed so that month and day are reversed.  No particular pattern to these errors.  Only fix we've found is to go through and manually check and correct the date errors - there are hundreds of these errors in the document so this is not a good solution.
    (Note: Excel columns with dates are specified as "date" fields. All dates are formatted as m/d/yy)
    Any ideas what's causing this problem problem and how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance!

  • I have developed a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The form has several fields and some of the information is captured in a bar code. What programs must be used to open the form to properly fill the form out?  Adobe Reader, Adobe Xi, Ibook, etc.. I

    I have created a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro that contains several data fields with some feeding data to a barcode in the document.  I have a "button" set up to save and send the completed form one it is completed.  Some of the user are having troubles filling out the form as they are using various programs to do such as iBook, Adobe Reader, etc....  Sometimes the information is not transferred to the barcode and sometimes the "submittal button" doesn't function properly.
    Please provide a solution or give me a list of the programs that must be used to properly open and fill out the form.
    Greatly appreciated.

    Best option is to use Adobe Reader (or Acrobat, of course) on a desktop computer (ie, not on a mobile device). Any other configuration is likely to be problematic.

  • Double entry in each field of Adobe Acrobat Pro

    I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro to complete a prepared form.  Upon entering data in to blank fields, I get a duplicate entry in each field box in a different font size when I tab or enter to the next field. I am sure it is a setting, any suggestions?

    Thank you George.
    After messing around a bit I was able to open in acrobat pro and remove the duplicate fields. Thank you for your help.

  • Can I upload forms I created in Acrobat Pro (containing Javascript) add attachment fields to them?

    I am developing fillable forms for our company. We have the following requirements.
    1. Develop the forms in Acrobat Pro.
    2. They contain extensive JavaScript, including custom functionality to validate the fields on the form before saving.
    3. The forms must include some way to allow the users to attach files when requested.
    4. Each form will be sent out to multiple recipients.
    5. Recipients may not have Acrobat--only Reader.
    I have solved most of the problems, and I'm getting stuck on #3 (because of #5). Short of using LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which I do NOT have), I don't know how to get a Reader-extended fillable PDF to allow attachments. I want to know if FormsCentral allows it. I read the online help and tried a test form, but I don't see how to add an attachment field to it after it's uploaded--it appears to be in a "final" status that can only be sent out to recipients after that.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Acrobat 8 Professional includes LiveCycle Designer 8, so if the form was created with LiveCycle Designer 8 or older, the yes should have the option to edit the form. Acrobat 8 Professional under the menu option 'Forms' will have an option to open the form in LiveCycle Designer. If the form was created with a newer version, there could be some issues with newer features not available in version 8.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 - Automate inserting signature & fields into document to be split

    Hi,
    I am a beginner with a huge task I am trying to automate.  Not sure its possible but here goes.  I am getting ready to "print" my 200+ teacher contracts to a PDF file from my Filemaker Pro database.  This creates one big PDF file with just over 200 "pages" as each contract is a page. Is there an easy way to insert two check boxes, a signature box, date field, print and e mail button on each page before I split the document into 200 individual pages to be emailed to each teacher or is this not an efficient way to handle it?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

    Any form element can be duplicated. After you create them on the first page, right-click on them using the Select Object Tool and select Duplicate.
    You should be able to make copies of them on all the pages using this method.

  • Create a dynamic dropdown field in Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

    Hello all. I am trying to create a field in one of my forms using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. I have a dropdown list of "main" items, and based on what is selected in that list, I want a second dropdown list to give different choices. I have searched and searched and have javascript that I thought might work, but maybe I am have a mistake or I am placing the javascript in the wrong place, becasue it is not working. I know very, very little about javascript, so any help would be so much appreciated.
    I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. I added a "new field", and selected "dropdown". The field name is ProvType. The dropdown options are:
         Inpatient
         Outpatient
         Physician
    I have the "Commit selected value immediately" selected.The field is not validated. The format is "none." There are no actions or calculations associated with it.
    I then created another dropbox, and named it SubProvType. Under Actions, I selected the trigger as Mouse Up, and then selected the Action "Run a JavaScript." I selected the add button, and typed this in the JavaScript editor:
    switch (ProvType.rawValue)
        case "Inpatient":
            this.setItems("Hospice,Hospital,Nursing Facility");
            break;
        case "Outpatient":
            this.setItems("Adult Day Center,Home,Other");
            break;
        case "Physician":
            this.setItems("Surgeon,Family Practice,Neurologist");
            break;
    What I want to happen is:
    If "Inpatient" is selected, I want the following options to be available in the second dropdown box "SubProvType":
         Hospice
         Hospital
         Nursing Facility
    If "Outpatient" is selected, I want the following options to be available in the second dropdown box "SubProvType":
         Adult Day Center
         Home
         Other
    If "Physician" is selected, I want the following options to be available in the second dropdown box "SubProvType":
         Surgeon
         Family Practice
         Neurologist
    However.... when I close the form editing and try to select a different option in the ProvType field, the SubProvType field remains blank and there are no options available. There are also no errors.
    I must be missing something, but I have no idea where to start. Thank you in advance for any help anyone can provide.

    dbettis2.... Please understand that everything I am about to tell you is ONLY thanks to the help I received from Gilad D. I don't know if this will help you or not, but I want to try and pass it forward.
    If what you are looking to do is have two dropdown fields, and the second one (concentration) be a list determined by what was chosen in the first one (newMajor) then this will work, if you are using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    Create a dropdown field and name it newMajor. In the "options" tab. Make sure that you enter all of the items that you want in that list AND that they match the javascript (or this will not work.)
    In this case, I believe you want the initial list to be:
    - Select One -
    BA - Communication (BACOMM)
    BA - History (BAHIST)
    BBA - Business Administration (BBA-BADM)
    After you create the dropdown field and enter all of the options, go to the Validate tab, chose "run custom validation script", then copy and paste the following:
    switch (event.value) {
        case "- Select One -":
            this.getField("Concentration").setItems(["-----"]);
            break;
        case "BA - Communication (BACOMM)":
            this.getField("Concentration").setItems(["- Select One -","None","Mass Communication (MCO1)","Theatre (THEA)","Communication Studies (MC02)"]);
            break;
        case "BA - History (BAHIST)":
            this.getField("Concentration").setItems(["- Select One -","None","Teacher Certification (HIS1)"]);
            break;
        case "BBA - Business Administration (BBA-BADM)":
            this.getField("Concentration").setItems(["- Select One -","None","Supply Chain Management (SCM)","Hospitality Management (HSMG)"]);
            break;
    Then create a second dropdown field, and name it Concentration. Nothing further needs to be done with the second dropdown field (as far as entering options or any javascript.)
    It should work. I have created a form using this code and field structure, and it is working. I hope this helps you, if in fact this is what you were trying to do. (I do not know how to attach a file to this post or I would send you the PDF that I made so you could see the fields. If you message me, I can send it to you.)

  • Problem exporting data in Acrobat Pro 9.0 from secured response form

    Hello,
    I made a form in Livecycle 9.0 and am distributing it through Acrobat Pro 9.0 - using Acrobat.com's form distribution application - in several cycles to see how varying the levels of security of the form will affect users (the folks who will be filling out the forms), once they get the forms.  I want to see how many passwords they have to enter, what they can do, what they cannot do with the form..  I've been sending unsecured and secured forms out, to test.
    The problem I have now is, when I receive my permissions protected, secured forms back, I cannot EXPORT the data.  Both  the "Export" and "Archived" buttons are greyed out, and even when I remove the security settings from File--> Portfolio Properties, nothing changes.
    I'm locked out of the collected data!
    It's easy to export data from unsecured response forms (without permissions protection), but I would prefer to limit the amount of manipulation users can do to the forms (aside from commenting, filling them out, and signing them).
    The secured forms perform great on the Acrobat Reader - user (form-filler) end, restricting printing, modifying text, etc,  but they return to me in Acrobat Pro inert.  I'm completely stumped to how I can get data out of them. I would sure appreciate any help!
    Thanks,
    Chenster
