Acrobat Pro (9.3) hangs up when editing, scrolling, etc...

Over the past few months, Acrobat hangs up / quits responding when I try to zoom, scroll or edit such as cropping a pdf.  It will often do the same thing when I move the cursor over the tabs at the top of the program with the headings: file, edit, view, document, etc..  Has anyone else experienced this and if so, have you been able to fix it?  I have changed the Screen Reader Options to only read the currently visible pages which seemed to help for a short period of time.

Knowing the OS would be helpful as it may be a factor.
If the OS is Windows 7 Acrobat 9.x will not provide full functionality.
Regardless, WP file format(s) are not compatible / supported by Acrobat PDFMaker.
Corel uses its own publish to PDF process rather than anything Adobe.
With Acrobat installed you can print to the Adobe PDF virtual printer.
If you are not doing a File - Print and selecting the Adobe PDF printer then you are using a WP rather than an Adobe process provided by Acrobat.

  • Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 crash when editing markup-heavy documents.

    Hi,
Some of our users are having problems with Acrobat Professional 8.1.2, mostly while they are adding revisions notes to documents. We receive those documents and add text, pages, corrections, highlight and files(.docx,.xlsx,...) and then send them back to our clients to be approved. There's lot of copy and paste involved. When the documents are sent back, they're usually 3 or 4 time the size they where without all the markups.
The application logs show some random of failure on "acrobat.dll" and then the program close.
Here are my main questions :
Is there a limitation to size or number of markup you can add  to a single file ?
Could the Windows clipboard (or Adobe clipboard) become so full it'll crash the program ?
Is there any means that I can use to diagnose further the problem ?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the imput on the "Save As" fonction, I didn't know that.
As for using the same version, we're able to enforce it at our office, however many of our clients use dated Acrobat version
and we can't really force them to use a newer version. I'm still going to recommend it though.
    Thanks for the input.

    Hi,
Are you facing the issue with any pdf file?
Please try updating Acrobat to 11.0.7 and check.
You might also want to repair Acrobat and see.

I have Windows 8.1, and when I right click on the Windows flag (bottom left), the menu gives me a "Search" option. When I enter "%temp%", it goes to " "my username"/ appdata/temp" which is a list of file 1718 file folders. Many are empty but I did a small sample. Is that the right place to delete?    I tried Windows- Disk Clean, but that did not help.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.51 Hangs When Printing to PDF from WordPerfect.

Seems Adobe Acrobat 9.51 is hanging when attempting to do a conversion to PDF by printing to PDF from WordPerfect (using X3/X5).  Problem is it also hangs the rest of the PC.  Have to attempt to kill the process (though it is so slow I end up having to restart the PC).  Anybody have any thoughts on this.  Attempted to do a repair (no help), removed the program and reinstalled (also no help).  Thought maybe another process was killing this but turned off all startup items.  Maybe I missed some uninstall items I need to manually remove?  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Acrobat Pro XI is hanging after the pdf file I am trying to view/edit is opened. Do I need to re-install? Thanks..

I am trying to view and edit PDF documents but Adobe freezes and I have to exit. I have been using the software for over a year with no issues. It is a subscriber version of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI.
Rebooting my computer has not helped. This has been happening for over a week.
How do I remove/ re-install the software. Windows 8.1 user.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi kevind45759405,
Since you are an annual subscriber of Acrobat XI, you are eligible to install the latest version of this software i.e. Acrobat DC that has been launched today.
You can simply install it from the Creative Cloud desktop application and activate it with your same Adobe credentials.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 crashes when displaying pdf made from Word doc containing url text

    Hello,
I and a few others in my workplace have a similar issue.
Acrobat crashes when they scroll through and view a pdf file that was created from Word.  The Word document contains url text in its header to the effect of "visit us at www.blah.com ." They're running Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 and Office 2K Pro SR-1 on XP Pro SP2.
Even though the link is not an active link, (i.e. clicking on it does not open the web page), if I convert a document containing this header to PDF, Acrobat will not allow me to manipulate the file and will crash. When I take the same document and remove the web address, then convert from Word to PDF, I experience no problems with Acrobat (note that this is the identical file, but with the web address removed). This does not explain why Acrobat will work for awhile even with the web address in the header, then stop working. But it does appear to fix my problem with creating a PDF from Word, then manipulating it further.
Does anyone know how to allow for this text to exist in the header and still have a stable pdf file/acrobat behavior?
    The pdf is attached.
    Thanks....

To sum up, I've found that if a url beginning with www is in the Word document and then created to pdf Adobe will crash when viewing that pdf.  If it is deleted from the Word document before creating the pdf, Acrobat will not crash when viewing that pdf.

  • Adobe Acrobat pro 9.4.6 crashes when opening multiple files simultaneously.

We have Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 which has been updated to version 9.4.6. we had this problem when the 9.4.5 update was applied also. It is now crashing when we try to open multiple files simultaneously.
Yesterday, I narrowed down the problem to 6 plugins:
    IA32
    ADBC
    eBook
    EScript
    HLS
    PPKLite
    SaveAsRTS
However, we discovered that that Comments and markup tool bars weren't loading. So I did a repair install on it.
Now those plugins from yesterday work and Acroform.api is causing it to crash when opening multiple files.
I did try other suggestion that involved using Icacls/cacls on dll files to no avail.
It is running on XP SP3 fully updated with plenty of RAM and HDD space.
Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?

I am not sure what's causing this problem on your machine because everything's working fine for me.
What is the version of Acroform.api on your machine now.
Do a Repair after deleting this file and see if it works.
Enable Windows MSI logging (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314852) before you do a repair, upload that log to some file sharing server, and paste its link here.

  • Can't scan Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 crashes when on Windows 8 PC

I have Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 on a Windows 8 PC.
When I try to use scan features, acrobat crashes.
I select custom scan it crashes.
I select configure presets it crashes.
Because Pro crahses I am unable to choose what scanner to use for scanning. No idea what scanner Pro is attempting to use.
I have the most current versions of both programs. Acrobat Pro 9.5 worked fine on Windows 7 PC.

Acrobat 9 was coded to support Windows 8. As the Acrobat 9 product family passed into "end-of-support" earlier this year that lack of compatibility for Windows 8 isn't going to change.
