Acrobat Pro 9 Crop Tool

When I try to use the crop tool in Acrobat 9 it will not let me be precise with the crop, like the area I draw is constrained. This just started about a month ago.
Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
Acrobat Pro 9.3 on Mac OS 10.9.5 Mavericks.
Thanks

Mr. Johnson you are brilliant!....or I am stupid. That was it.
Either way, thanks a lot!

  • Acrobat Pro always on top during batch OCR ! ;(

    Hello,
Do you know a way to change the default behaviour of Acrobat Pro 11 as it comes back always on top each time there is a new pdf file to OCR during a batch OCR process ?
This is very annoying as I have to click each time on the other window I was focusing on !
Example: I was on reading something in Firefox, then Acrobat Pro window appears - too bad! - I need then each time to click on Firefox in order to get back on what I was reading !
    Thanks in advance
    Win7 64bits Acrobat Pro 11, tools/action wizard using only : OCR and Save .

    Hi,
There are 2 resolutions for this issue:
1: Uncheck Prompt user checkbox while creating the Action:
2: Use Tools -> Text Recognition -> In Multiple Files option
    Please use either of them.
    Thanks,

  • I am trying to use Acrobat Pro version XI to crop my PDF but can't find the "PAGES" tools

I have a 1 page PDF that is 9.5 inches wide with about 1.5 inches of margin.  I want to crop off the extra white space and center the image so that it fits on a normal letter sized page.  However, I can't find any sort of crop or trim command in Acrobat.  When I google cropping a PDF I find references to a crop command that is in some sort of "pages" collection of tools but I don't have any pages menu either.  Is there a way to use Acrobat Pro for cropping ?  How?
I also have photoshop and have tried importing and cropping there but when I export the image back to PDF format I find that its 10X the size it started.  Its important for my purposes that the file be small.

Well it was installed yesterday and I spent hours trying to find the option  as virtually the first thing I did when I launched it, so I'm quite sure I would have remembered if I changed it.  However it was installed by a push from our corporate software distribution system so maybe that has a way of reconfiguring some options. Why they'd bother is a mystery to me though.  Anyway, good to know, thanks again

  • Can I remove crop marks with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

Can I remove crop marks using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

Mylenium, I hate to ask, but in Acrobat XI, where do I find the Crop Pages feature?
In the right sidebar, under Tools > Pages, I see a Crop command. This seems to allow me to draw a box, but it does not seem very precise.
Under Print Production, I see a Set Pages Boxes command. I can't figure out how this works. I can choose Trim from a pop-up menu and guides show up where they should, but they just disappear when I click OK. (Also, the margin numnbers in that box get set to zero after doing tha; but, I digress.)
So, how can I just accurately trim the page to the trim area?
    Thank you!

  • Compare Documents tool in Acrobat Pro 9

I'm assessing the Compare Documents tool in Acrobat Pro 9 for business use, and have some very specific questions about its functionality:
When I initially load a pair of PDFs to compare, occasionally Acrobat refuses to accept them as anything but "scanned documents" even though they are fully electronic-sourced PDFs created in, usually, Adobe illustrator.  What are the specific criteria that cause Acrobat Pro to force the "scanned documents" type?  Is it related to the presence of only "flattened"/"outlined" text instead of embedded fonts?  Lack of layers?  Some other graphical feature?  How do the comparison parameters/performance change when the loaded docs are designated as scanned rather than one of the other types?
Second, when I've done a Compare on two nearly identical documents and then call up the "old and difference images" display - is there any way at all to manipulate this display?  Some of my docs are large - potentially full press-sheet size of around 24" x 40", and when the differences between them are tiny (e.g., a change in only a few Braille dots over the entire graphic) the on-screen rendering of the "difference image" side of the display is relatively tiny and practically useless, although it contains exactly the information I need to see.  Can it be grabbed/stretched/magnified/saved/printed/analyzed some other way besides how it is?  It seems to disappear literally at the first mouse-motion or key-touch, which is incredibly frustrating.  Are there any changes or improvements in this feature in version 10.x over version 9.2.0 (which is the latest version my company has approved)?
Third, also at the post-compare stage, the feature tags a small printer info block in a corner of the document with "This image was replaced" even when I know the info block has not been changed.  Why could this happen?

Sounds like you want to do this on a server, but you should know that Adobe Acrobat cannot legally be used on a server.
For server-based PDF operations you can look at Adobe LiveCycle products or our Adobe PDFLibrary (available in both Java and C++)

  • Can someone help us get the COMMENTS ATTACHMENT TOOL to work as described in Acrobat Pro XI?

Our company is trying to switch from paper based reviews to the electronic shared reviews, and Adobe XI was selected. (Window 8, Acrobat XI) However, we are having a great deal of difficulty.
Our problem is that we would like to be able to attach small files (Word, jpeg, etc.) during the Send for Shared Review as described in the videos and online help.
What we have experienced is this:
    1. A reviewer attaches the file using the Comments paperclip, publishes the Comments, and then closes.
    2. When they, another reviewer, or the initiator opens the document, the Name of the file changes to "Unknown" and the name of the file w/ extension appears in the Description in the Attachments list. This makes the file unopenable.
Has anyone else experienced this?  During the initial period while the file name still appears under Name in the Attachments list, it is openable.  When that name shifts to the Description field it is lost.
Here is how we are doing it:
Choose the paperclip under Comments - Annotations
Choose the place in the document and click it to select.
Choose the file from the popup box and click Open.
Click OK to select the icon, and it is placed in the document.  The file name now appears in the list of Attachments in the left side of the document.  Using the single arrow (to the right) it shows the attributes (Name, Description, Modified, Size, Compressed Size.)  The name appears under Name, the Description is blank, the Modified, Size and Compressed Size fields are filled in. Since everything is completed, press Publish Comments.
When the initiator or another reviewer opens it, the name is now Unknown and the file name is under Description and there is no way to identify the file or open it.
Can someone please help us with what we are doing wrong?  They make it sound so simple, but nothing we try works. This was one of several feature that management really wanted.
    Thanks, Diane

    Hello Anoop,
    1. We are hosting our Shared Review Workflows on our internal network server using Windows 7 (not 8), 64 bit.
    2. Yes, all the other reviewers and I are using the most current version of Acrobat Pro.IX or Acrobat Reader (version 11.0.08) with the exception of one reviewer who is using Acrobat Reader 8.
The reviewer using Adobe Reader 8 is the only one who does not have the problem.  She attaches a file in a slightly different manner (Attach file as a comment) and her file attachments can be opened and viewed by everyone.
I have discussed this in the Adobe User Community Bulletin Board for "How to work with comment tools in Acrobat XI."  Lori Kassuba was able to replicate the problem during a shared review and thinks it may be a bug:
The title of the entry is:
How to work with comment tools in Acrobat XI
You can see the comment at the following URL:

    Hi Diane Yarger,
I was able to replicate the same thing during a shared review so I think you may have run into a bug. Please post this issue here:

    Thanks,
    Lori
As Lori suggested, I reported this problem as a potential "bug" to the cfusion link above. No one has contacted me about it.

  • Acrobat pro: how set default properties for arrow and line tool seperately?

I have a problem with the 'comment and markup' tools in Adobe Acrobat Pro.
I would like to change the defaults of some of the tools, eg the arrow and the line tool.
This can be achieved by right-clicking on something drawn using the tool in question and then selecting 'properties' - or by selecting the tool and then press ctrl+E, wich opens a 'Callout Tool Properties', and then change what you want there. The latter option keeps the changes as defaults - the former offers a box to tick in the 'properties' dialogue that opens - or, you can right-click on the object again after having changed the properties, and then select 'Make Current Properties Default'.
My Problem is now, that, apparently, you cannot choose and save default properties freely and for each tool. I woul like to have the default properties for the line tool set as the following:
    -line color: yellow
    -line thickness: 8pt
    -opacity: 60%
and fot the arrow tool as this:
    -line color: red
    -line thickness: 1pt
    -opacity: 100%
This all works fine as long as the program is open. As soon as I exit and start it again opening another document /the same one again, the arrow tool changes to
    -line color: yellow
    -opacity: 60%
only the line thickness remains at 1pt.
If I change the properties of the line to the ones I want for the arrow, the arrow properties remain unaltered if I close Acrobat Pro.
Why do these properties interfere? Why is it "line color/thickness" in both? Why, then, do only the opacity and the color interfere, but not the thickness - even if it's the latter two properties that are bot called "line xxx"? Why does Acrobat not save all properties for these two shapes seperately - even IF the two shapes are both of a line-like kind?
Is there a way to get around this?

Trobbel - This indeed is puzzling behavior. Clicking 'Make Current Properties Default' should preserve the default  appearance for each. I don't have a solution, but merely a couple of suggestions:
    1) Make sure you have installed any available upgrade for your version of Acrobat Professional.
    2) Consider using the line tool exclusively - you can add an arrowhead and make one tool perform both tasks.
    Hope this helps. /rmbrown

  • Why can't I search/find text I added in a PDF with the TouchUp Text tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9/X?

If I use the TouchUp Text tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9/X to modify a text, the program can't find the added/changed text. But when I just delete letters/words in the text, the rest/changed words can be found. Is that a known problem? Is there any fix or workaround?

Fantastic. There is all sorts of nonsense out there on how to fix this problem, but your simple suggestion works perfectly. Thanks!

  • How do you increase the font size to bigger than 24, using the typewriter tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac?

How do you increase the font size to bigger than 24, using the typewriter tool in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac?   Often I just want to label an item on a map that is in PDF and want to use a simple label rather than a Text Box for labeling, but have yet to find a way to increase the font size beyond 24.   Can someone help me with this? - JML

  • Crop Tool issue in Acrobat 9.5.2...help needed!

When using the crop tool in Acrobat 9.5.2 it now appears to draw the crop box as if was snapping to invisible guides (similar to those guides used in Quark or Indesign layouts for example.) I need to be able to draw a freehand crop box on my PDF files....have I changed a setting or preference somewhere that I am not aware of?

Found it...actually in the VIEW menu there is a selection for Snap to Grid which was checked. It was nothing in the preferences box. Thanks for your help.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro XI Platzhalter für Bilder in Formularen / Tool?

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Advanced editing tool not working in Acrobat Pro 9.0

I created a fillable form in Live Cycle ES 8.2 and the recipient wants to add a hyperlink to a website in one of the text field areas of the form but it won't work.
I tried to do it for him in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 but when I go to the Advanced Editing tool it is greyed out. Can anyone tell me how to get the advanced editing tool to work or why it may be disabled?

Thank you but if I put it back into LiveCycle everything that has been inputted by the recipient is lost. Do you know if there is a setting in LiveCycle that allows hyperlinks to be entered in to the text area by the recipient of the form?
