Acrobat Pro 9 to 9.5.5 update fixed for me

Just thought I would let eveyone know that I reinstalled Acrobat 9 from the CD without deleted anything. I just installed over the version that was there. Then I opened up Acrobat Pro and clicked on update, and everything got downloaded and updated to 9.5.5 in one smooth update. Finally!

Hi Mike,
Thank you so much for the great information! I really appreciate you sharing and am sure others will benefit as well.
Kindest regards, Stacy

Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.10 not updating. Trying to update to version 10.1.13. on MAC OS X, v 10.9.5. All my Adobe CS5.5 Design Premium products update fine.
First tried automatic updates and go this: Update error:  An error occurred. Please check for updates again later. Error: 1514.
Then went to Adobe.com to download update.
Downloaded the 10.1.13 update, started installation but in final stage of installation got this message "The Installation Failed (encountered an error) Contact software manufacturer for assistance.”
What do I do now? Thanks,

    Hey Marylou Wade,
We would need the Acrobat installation logs in order to analyze this error. Please follow the below procedure to extract the log :
    - During the installation press Command + L.
    - Installer Log window appears. Now On the top left corner of this window, by default 'Show Errors Only' is selected in drop-down list.
    - Change it to 'Show All Logs'. Now when the installer hangs, copy log from here and send it to us.

  • IOS update fix for the map app

So exactly how long do users have to wait for an update fix for the map app?

The maps included with the iPhone do not cost extra and do use the existing data plan.
AT&T Navigator (GPS) does cost an extra $9.95 (or so) per month.
Most other GPS apps have no monthly fee and use the GPS and, in some cases, the data plan on your phone.
I recommend either Navigon (takes a lot of storage room but maps are stored on the iPhone) or GPS Drive (reasonable price, has great features, maps come from the data path so requires a data signal but takes much less space).

    Hi,
Yes, I have tried everything, first deleted iphone pairing from ford audio then deleted ford audio from iphone then repaied.
It does repair to the car audio as I can search phone book look at missed calls in or last calls out but no GSM signal icon which was in the bottom lefthand corner on the screen and when you make a call to the iphone the phone vibrates and the car audio lowers the radio volume but does not pass the call to the ford audio.
This all worked perfect on IOS 4.3.5 is there a downgrade for the iphone from 5 to 4.3.5 ?
I rang apple to ask this and was told no, basiclly go away !!! the phone is only 4 months old and worked until this upgrade, it must be the IOS 5 update as other people are all reporting bluetooth issues with car integration ?

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply. However how can you upgrade when the program won't boot? I tried downloading again from Adobe but the version that comes over is 9.0. Is there anyway to force a load? Or anyway for Adobe to push me 9.3.1?

First try removing preference  and or .plist files for Acrobat. Then when you get working try this tip below that might help when you update the application and it fails.
I've come across this in these forums That may or may not solve the update issue for "some" people:

  • Another way Acrobat Pro X startup fails can be fixed  - informational

I'd like to recount an experience here, which had the same symptoms as the long run of Adobe Activation system errors. The odd process to recover from those is still needed, but the cause of the initial failure here turns out to not be Adobe's fault. Rather, Microsoft's, I think.
The Symptom: you try to run Acrobat. It fails to show any screen, and the activity cursor soon dies away. If you watch via the Windows task manager, you can see a flicker, but then it's gone. No amount of reinstalling, etc. will fix this. I had this happen to the Acrobat Pro X which is part of CS6.
The Solution: I had tried everything in the forum, especially the responses suggesting the problem was with Activation. However, that was not it this time. The problem was that I had a fresh version of Microsoft's anti-malware EMET program running, EMET 5.1. Acrobat was listed under protected applications, and with nearly every type of protection checked. Here's how I recovered:
    - first, of course, I clicked the master item to remove all checked protections from Acrobat Pro X.
    - Now Acrobat would start, not fail silently, but it gave me a mysterious Error 6 and insisted that I reinstall before it would work.
    - I uninstalled, and then ran the CS6 installer. It refused to accept my serial number when I typed it in, though this had not happened before. Solution: if the CS installer offers you a serial number with the last block blanked with XXXX, accept that. If you do, the installer will run. If you try to replace it, the installer will say it can't authenticate the serial number.
    - running the installer fresh and accepting the number it filled in even with the XXXX, the installer ran, installing the original version of Acrobat.
    - Probably at this stage you will need to reactivate Acrobat. You do this by the procedure which shows many times in the forum:
= start another CS6 program, such as Photoshop, and Deactivate from the Help menu. Now all of CS6 is deactivated.
= close the CS6 program, and then open again. Accept when it attempts to register via your Adobe ID. Now the suite is running in trial mode.
= close the CS6 program again, and open it again. Soon after it opens you will get the opportunity to activate. Choose to do so using a serial number, and then enter your number.
= Close the CS6 program, then open it once again, closing once again after it's open. These steps activate the suite, and thus your  re-added Acrobat.
    - Now Acrobat will run, and will open a  PDF.
    - I then installed the latest update manually, having downloaded it. This brought Acrobat to the current version 10.1.13, and tests showed all well.
Glad to feel it's solid again, Acrobat. I haven't gone back to EMET to see what protections it can accept, saving that for another day, since EMET is a useful program for web safety.

Ok, I had a chance to test EMET 5.1 vs. Acrobat Pro X crashing.
    - deinstalling EMET 5.1 returned Acrobat to working properly, no crashing
    - re-installing EMET 5.1 and accepting the recommended configuration did indeed include both Acrobat and Acrobat Reader configuration, using almost all of EMET's abilities. So Microsoft did it, not me.
    - once again, Acrobat Pro X crashed, not always at startup, but soon enough in viewing pdfs.
    - Acrobat Reader XI (11), however, has no evident problem with its similar EMET configuration. Reader is already supposed to be more secure than Acrobat, and EMET can only increase this safety, so that  it is good to use as default reader within Chrome, for example.
    - Also I should mention that I didn't discover this problem until much later than the EMET installation, because Distiller creating PDFs as a Windows Print job from browsers etc. had no crashing problems. This is possibly because EMET actually isn't configured for that  part of Acrobat.
    - Now, I tried the beginnings of a boolean search on EMET config for Acrobat itself. It didn't take long to discover that the problem EMET facility is SEHOP: Structured Exception Handler Overwrite Protection. This is one of the extra layerings available to try to prevent hackers from exploiting the app state on the way to a crash they deliberately cause. I seem to remember it being a particular problem in compatibility for older programs, and indeed I found some Google evidence it can interfere with Flash also if you run it on Chrome.
    - Then, simply unchecking the SEHOP box on the default EMET configuration for Acrobat, and saving that configuration appears to solve the problems with Acrobat Pro X. You'll then have all the boxes checked except SEHOP and ASR on the end, which was  already unchecked. A lot of apps don't apparently support ASR.
    - Since Reader 11 works with SEHOP, and since Microsoft included it in the standard configuration, I have the idea that Acrobat Pro XI (11) is likely to work without removing SEHOP from the configuration. This method will save you the $200 upgrade until you have reason to need it.
Hope this is complete enough and straightforward enough as a case now, so that it should help anyone running into Acrobat not starting, or unexplained crashing of Acrobat, after they've installed Microsoft's safety package EMET.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 No Updates Available (to 9.5.3)

Since reading of the release of the January 8, 2013 updates I have been trying to update Acrobat Pro 9.5.2 to 9.5.3 but "Check for Updates" under Help invariably returns “No updates available.”
I have downloaded the manual update but I am trying to get the Check for Updates to work to avoid to always have to manually update the product.
I first checked Acrobat Pro 9 and when that failed to find the update decided to update Acrobat Reader first and have subsequently checked and frequently rechecked Acrobat Pro and continue to have the problem of not finding the current update.  Reader X updated from the previous version to the current 10.1.5.33 although I will probably kill that to get to Reader 11.
The thought of uninstalling Acrobat Pro did occur to me but the update process for Acrobat Pro 9 has been proven to be extremely cumbersome due to a large number of updates that have to be sequentially updated not to mention a very slow process as the original updates for Acrobat Pro 9 were not incremental and therefore required complete replacement of the software.
I tried the repair option for Acrobat Pro 9 but that only wasted my time and failed to correct the problem.
    Windows 7 64-bit.
    Thank You

    Hi,
I have seen similar reports and would like to help, but you will need to work with me on this.
Can you please do the following:
(Make sure AdobeARM.exe process is not running - exit Updater if visible or kill this process using Task Manager)
    1.
rename existing AdobeARM.log file in the User Temp folder
    C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Temp
    2.
add iLogLevel DWORD 32 bit value in the registry below and set it to 1
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM
If you do not know how to operate with Registry, the instructions are here
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/136393
    3.
Start Acrobat and select Help\Check for updates
    4.
Whatever is the result, send me new AdobeARM.log file from User Temp folder
There is no private inforamtion in this log file - you can send it to me in the private message.

  • Reinstall Acrobat Pro 7 - can't install updates past 7.0.5

Upgraded to OS 10.5 (PPC Mac - last operating system) and had to reinstall Acrobat Pro 7 from CD as "components were missing". Adobe Updater worked through 7.0.5 Update, now refuses to add any further updates. Tried manual updating, but the 7.0.7 updater says "An invalid application was selected" when I try to select the copy of Acrobat Pro 7.0.5. The 7.1.3 "all" updater, as well as all those between 7/0/7 and it,  tells me "The selected application version is outside the range that can be updated with this installer".
    Suggestions?
    Rick

When I was installing, I received a message saying,
"Error 1310. Error writing to file C:\Program Files (X86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\adistres.dll.  Verify that you have access to that directory."
Then it had a button for retry and when I hit it, it finished installing without any more errors.  My UAC always asks me to allow programs to make changes to the computer and when I allow, it's always fine.  I actually like this for added security.  I've never had an issue with any other program.

  • Acrobat Pro X Failed After Latest Update Downloaded

I have been using Acrobat Pro X on my Windows 7 machine successfully for almost 2 years now.  After the latest update downloaded 2 days ago, Acrobat X will no longer function properly and will not open.  What to do?

AcroTray is running in the background.  I have attempted to create pdfs from Word and Adobe Illustrator (AI) files two different ways:  First by using the Print function in in Word and AI.  It takes me as far as selecting a file name for the new pdf, but never completes the process.  Secondly, by using the Create PDF function in Acrobat.  Again, after selecting a file name and hitting Save the process ends without creating the new pdf.  Any thoughts on this?

After installing the most recent Acrobat Pro 11 update to My Mac (running OSX 10.9.1) AND after installing the most recent Acrobat 10 update to my PC (running Win 8.1)- Acrobat Pro now crashes when I attempt to scan.
