Acrobat Pro 9 Very very slow to open and close file

Hi all. I have several pc where they are praticly identical. I got one pc qhere acrobat 9 pro where installed and when I try to open a pdf it get too much time.
I already reinstalled it and no effect. When I open a pdf it get 40 - 50 % of cpu and 50 - 60 mo in the ram ( normal usage i guess ). Nothing was running in the same time.
To open a pdf it can take up 30 sec ( realy too long for a simple one page pdf ).
I'm running on windows xp ( P 4 3.2 ghz with 2 gig of ram )
I have no other idea what to try next ...
Ty for your help

>>> Have you checked the size of your organizer90 file in the user's profile?  That causes issues for us, at least when closing files.
This was the answer for me. I went to C:\Documents and Settings\MyName\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0 and deleted Organzer90.  It was 29 MB!  Then I opened an Acrobat document, and then closed it.  (This action recreated a new Organizer90 file (9KB)
Now each time I open an Acrobat document they load and close much more quickly.
The Organizer90 file seems to be a SQLLite file that tracks a long history of every PDF I've viewed over time.  I'm not sure what it is used for, but I'm happy to trade it for faster closing PDF files.
Hope this helps others...

    Safari is slow to open and close. It also slows down other apps while it is running. How can I resolve this issue?

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
    If there's no improvement, continue as follows.
    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data

  • Illustrator CC is taking a very long time to open and save files.

    I am using a Mac with the Mavericks OS. Illustrator can take up to FIVE MINUTES to open or save a file. It is becoming a waste of time as I have to work on multiple projects a day. I read about "Adobe Drive" but have not found this option on the version of Illustrator that I have.
    Please help!

    Any update?
    I found this discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5839180 but have been unable to locate Adobe Drive on my system.
    I have followed the above suggestions with no avail. I have only been opening files from my desktop. This issue is only with Illustrator, Photoshop works fine.
    I ran a script yesterday that opens up eps files and saves them as a png, and what normally takes around 30 seconds took almost 45 minutes. I need to solve this problem asap.
    Would uninstalling and reinstalling the CC suite be of any benifit?

  • Slow to open and save files

    My Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.7.4 has been real slow lately in opening files, saving documents, opening webpages.  Any suggestions on ways to speed things up?  I often have MS Excel and Word and Outlook open so not sure if that is the problem.

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Acrobat pro 9 has stopped combining excel and word files

    Hello
    Acrobat 9 Pro crashes when combining word and excel. It is ok with merging PDFs
    I have tried updating the software - it crashes saying install manager has stopped working
    I have installed repaired and re installed - still can't combine
    It will combine multiple PDF and photo files
    Operating system is windows 7
    Thanks in advance

    When telling Acrobat to combine DOC/DOCX or XLS/XLSX files Acrobat must use its PDFMaker.
    Acrobat asks the OS to open the file(s) native application (Word or Excel for your situation) and then has PDFMaker output a PDF.
    Acrobat then combines these PDF files.
    But, Acrobat 9 PDFMaker is not compatible in Windows 7.
    You can use the Adobe PDF printer to output a PDF from the Word / Excel files then, as you noted, combine the PDFs.
    Acrobat X provided a Windows 7 compatible PDFMaker.
    However, Acrobat X has been replaced by Acrobat XI.
    So, to do what you desire you'd need to upgrade to Acrobat XI.
    The available upgrade paths are here:

  • IPhoto 6 slow to open and close

    I have a mac mini with an external drive connected via firewire. IPhoto 6 works really fast on the mac mini...no problems. I just got a new MacBook Pro and can mount the external drive...no problem.
    When I open iphoto and point to the iPhoto library on the external drive, it takes forever to open. Once it is open, it is a bit sluggish, but works OK. Then it takes forever to close as well.
    I didn't think the speed over Airport was that slow....am I wrong? Why the slowdown on the MacBook Pro and the mac mini is really fast? Thought it would be the other way around.
    I called Apple Care and they had me reinstall Tiger...nothing changed. Please help. Thanks.

    Brent:
    From the posts I've read about it accessing large data files like images over Airport is going to be rather slow. Close all of the rolls before closing and then see if that improves the closing and opening process. There's just a lot of data that has to be transferred.
    Do check the Airport forum as there may be some tricks available that will help speed up the process.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Firefox is slow to open and close. I get a "script error" that says it may be caused by a recently opened tab. What do I do to correct this problem. It is wreaking havoc when trying to open/close or move around the internet.

    I am getting a "script error" when I close out the internet, specifically Firefox. My backup internet explorer does not do this. This is slowing down the process of opening/closing Firefox. When I open Mozilla, I get "restore session" even though I have closed everything down. I have "removed program" and re-downloaded Mozilla 3 times and still this problem persists. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

  • Illustrator Is Slow to Save and Close Files

    I've been experiencing slow save time in Illustrator. It doesn't matter if the file is very small or is a large .eps, there's a long pause while saving before the application becomes responsive again. There is also a long pause when closing the document, after it has been saved.
    Does anyone have experience with solving this issue? I've run Illustrator on a much slower machine without this issue and it's really cutting into my production time.
    I'm running Yosemite on a Macbook Pro w/Retina Display/2.5 GHz Intel Core i7/ 16GB Memory / 256 GB HD
    Any help is much appreciated!
    Margaret

    Hi Margaret,
    DId disk utility run clean, and did you fix preferences. To run on your startup disk I believe you hold down Command R (to enter recovery mode) after rebooting, and menu over to disk utility.
    Try creating a new user, and see how Illustrator runs. If so we know it is some setting/preference that is saved with the account.
    Do you have Adobe Drive
    Files open, save slowly | Mac OS X
    Though the mac does not have nearly as many viruses as windows, if you seen anything like MacKeeper, or what appeared to be false flash updates. Mine was running slow until I uninstalled, and felt like such a fool as there was a little icon on my top tool bar.
    Good luck we will get you up to speed just may take throwing a lot a this one until we narrow down the problem area.

  • How to open and close files from UIwindow my function doesn't work

    Hello guys!
    I am trying to create a simple ui-interface.
    I made one button so far.
    but my function does not work.
    if I run the function without dialog box it works perfectly!
    when I running the function in the dialog window, picking a file and open, nothing happens why?
    please help me with a correct code.
    also how do I write  2 functions that also closing a file and  saving a file?
    here is my simple code.
    var w = new Window ("dialog");
    button.onClick = function () {
    OpenMyFile();
    w.show ();
    function OpenMyFile(){
    var myFile = File.openDialog();
    app.open(myFile)
    Thank you in advance.

    Well, to answer your first question, you've added an event listener, but you haven't actually added the button itself.
    try this:
    var w = new Window ("dialog");
    b = w.add("button", undefined, "Click me!");
    b.onClick = function () {
    OpenMyFile();
    w.show ();
    function OpenMyFile(){
    var myFile = File.openDialog();
    app.open(myFile)

  • IE 11 opens and closes immediatly

    Brand new windows 7 pro pc. IE 11 opens and closes immediately. I tried all fixes already posted. If i remove ie 11 from the programs in control panel it disappears. But if i try to re-install from MSFT download ie 10 or ie 11 i receive a message that a
    new version is already installed even though no ie shows being installed, If i go back and recheck IE 11 in programs in control panel it re-installs the same IE 11 and has the same error, opens and closes immeditaly. I have also rolled back to system restore,
    same error.  FYI Chrome is installed and works fine but client needs IE for certain integration with cloud.
    thanks

    Hi,
    I just make a supplement, if you do need to revert IE 11 to a lower edition, you need to uninstall IE 11 in Windows Update history.
    Control Panel->View installed updates.
    Find IE 11 and uninstall it, after that, restart your computer.

  • Open and Save Dialogs Very Slow to Open and Populate

    In all of my apps, the Open and Save dialogs have become +very slow+ to open and populate since installing Snow Leapoard.
    This only happens on one of my machines, and not others. (I've unmounted all connected drives, just to eliminate that possibility.)
    Any thoughts on what this could be. The delay is significant (and feels like the old days of Windows, which I thought I'd left behind).

    The problem now appears to have gone away. The only change I've made is that I replaced an external drive that had recently died with a new one and gave it the same name as the failed drive.
    Could a the dead drive have left something behind (or failed to leave something behind) that is stumbled over (or looked for and not found) each time the file system was accessed, and that got cleaned up (or re-created) when the new drive was connected and renamed?

  • CS4 File info dialog very slow to open and respond.

    CS4 File info dialog very slow to open and respond. Every click or or key stroke takes more than 1 second to record. I have try multiple changes in the performance preferences and nothing has an affect. This is the only dialog box in the program that has the problem. The problem started when I uninstalled and reinstalled because of problems with the program freezing. I have changed every setting in the preferences performance section back and forth including 3 different amounts of memory usage (lo hi and recommended) restarting PS every time and nothing works. I would appreciate any help, keeping in mind that there have been no changes to the PC and it worked fine for a long time (approx 1/12 years) previous to the reinstall. I've been having the same problem now for a few weeks and its killing me. Not sure what I can do, but in Photoshop and Bridge, the only programmes I use on a daily basis, it takes me forever to enter file information.

  • Illustrator CC very slow to open and save large format files

    I work in a print shop that prints biggish stuff. I will frequently have files that postscript to close to a GB or more. Working on simple vector art with a few images in CC is not too much of a problem, but I still notice CC is slower than CS 6. The big problem is when I get a few 200mb PDF's, or files with layers of transparent PSD files in them etc, big busy files, then AI CC really bogs down, or frequently crashes altogether. CS 6 is MUCH better. I don't have the font issues, AI CC works fine with simple files. Saving & opening these big files is such a problem, I just save them back to CS 6, but that causes problems too, I do not want to, nor should I have to have 2 versions open at the same time. I always try to optimize the files as best possible, but it is tough sometimes as they R supplied by the customer, and the time it takes. We save to a Windows Server 2008 R2 box over gigabit network, which I know is not best practice, but no choice with the sheer volume of files. Would B insane to try to keep track & copy them back & forth, and it was never a big issue with CS 6. I am the first victim in our office, but the other 3 Mac Pro's will B switching over to CC this week, and I know the operators will B crying.
    Anyone else out there having the same large file problems?
    THX
    Mac Pro 2.4GHZ 12 core 32GB 1TB
    Mac OS X 10.7.5

    I'm not sure Adobe would like this, but it seems to be working for us on Mac OSX 10.9.3 and Illustrator CC 2014
    Go to your user Library > Preferences folder and open com.adobe.mediabrowser.plist using TextEdit.
    Select all the text and delete it.
    Save the file
    Get Info and lock the file.
    I also removed the com.adobe.mediabrowser.plist.lockfile from the Preferences folder.
    So far doing this really improves performance in Illustrator CC 2014. Opening and saving files happens at a reasonable rate; however there is a down side. Preferences no longer save. Changes made to pallettes, etc. have to be redone everytime Illustrator is opened.
    Other posts mention having Verdana and Trebuchet installed. I didn't find this to help at all.

  • ITunes 10.2 Upgrade fix temporary. Fix to iTunes 10.2.2 by uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support and install AMDS from 10.0. Worked only to fail in 5 days. iTunes back to very slow to open and will not see device (iPhone) connected. Sorry

    I was one this site for 20+ Days and found a fix for 10.2.1 when it failed. I Uninstalled all, following other attempts that failed, then installed latest Version from Apple iTunes 10.2.12. I then uninstalled Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS) and installed AMDS from the older 10.0 version of iTunes. Success it worked. Today, I am now back to old problem, iTnes takes very long time to open and fails to see my device when connected (iPhone). I really only have iTunes for my iPhone no extensive library a few hundred CD's in music location and no podcasts. I have less than 6 moveis and want to update them now. I am willing to lose all in iTunes library if need be just to get computer to see G3 iPhone with iOS 4.2 and let me synch once again. I like security of backup too. It older iTunes may now not support, that too is OK. I still want to get the 3GS (no 4G desires, yet) and do not care if any of it is the latest from Apple as long as it works.

    Hi Erik,
    Your basic suggestion actually worked for me. But this is what I did for others who are having issues removing/installing etc.
    1. Download the latest iTunes 8.2. You should end up with a file iTunesSetup.
    2. If you dont already have WinRAR, download free copy from http://www.rarlab.com/ and install.
    3. Right click on iTunesSetup and choose "Extract" to somewhere you know. eg C:\itunetemp
    4. Open up folder where you extracted iTunesSetup and double-click applemobiledevicesupport.msi
    5. It should ask you if you want to repair or remove... choose remove.
    6. REBOOT your PC.
    7. Go back to where you extracted iTunesSetup and double-click applemobiledevicesupport.msi and go through the install.
    8. Plug in your iPhone.
    If all is well iTunes should automatically start and start syncing your iPhone.
    Goodluck all!
    Cheers.

    I just upgraded to Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro because I wanted to use the LiveCycle form editor. When I try to open LiveCycle from Acrobat 9 Pro Forms menu tab, LiveCycle opens and then closes instantly.  I tried to open it several times but the same thing happened. Luckily I had an old form which was save as *.xpd which opened LiveCycle.
    Does anyone know what the issue is when trying to open LiveCycle from the Adobe 9 Pro Form tab? Thanks in advance.

    I can't answer as to why Designer is opening/closing in Acrobat, but you can open it by itself.
    The EXE file is located with the Acrobat install.   On my Win 7 its located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Designer 8.2\FormDesigner.exe
