Acrobat Pro 9 won't recognize scanner

When I try to scan into Acrobat Pro 9, I can't get the program to recognize my Lexmark x7170 scanner/printer. The scanner scans and prints fine in other programs.
I've looked for driver updates, but the Lexmark page doesn't have any for Mac.
I'd like to use the scanner feeder for multipage documents, so I'm open to suggestions for other programs that can create a multipage document to be turned into a pdf.

the Lexmark page doesn't have any for Mac.
Then you're probably out of luck.
Better post your question on Adobe's forums as Apple discussions only provide support for Apple products:

This question will probably get responses most quickly if posted in Adobe's own forums, since it's about an Adobe product and not the iMac itself.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard won't recognize Canon Lide 200 Scanner

My recently installed Acrobat 9 Standard won't recognize my  Canon Lide 200 scanner even though Adobe Photoshop CS2 does.  I don't know what the problem is and how to solve it.

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 was recently installed on new Vista 64bit computer and functions with all programs and even prints to my Dell 1600n printer, but when I try to scan from the printer, it causes this error message and shuts Acrobat down:
"ADOBE ACROBAT HAS STOPED WORKING A Problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have lived with this since I bought the computer a month ago. Still no solution from Adobe and no response to an email that I sent to adobe support.

  • Acrobat XI won't recognize scanner

I installed Acrobat XI replacing Acrobat 9 and the program won't recognize my scanner.
    Setup: Windows 7 x64, Canon MG6120
All other programs, to include Photoshop, work fine with the scanner. The scanner works in other user profiles (for Acrobat XI) on the computer, but not in my main profile. The scanner is on the list of devices for Acrobat XI, but when asked to scan, the program cannot find the scanner. If I attempt a failed scan, on logout from the user profile I get an error associated with LogTransport2.exe. This error only occurs when Acrobat XI attempts a scan an fails.
I have tried deleting all local app data for Acrobat in the user profile, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer but nothing seems to work. I believe it is a configuration error in the specific user profile, but I cannot find out were the information is stored.
    Thanks,

Try logging into your administrative account and see if Adobe Acrobat Pro will communicate with your scanner.
If Adobe Acrobat Pro will communicate with your scanner from the Administrator Account but will not communicate from any other user account.  Log in to the account you prefer and perform the following.   Adobe says it is not
a bug in Adobe Acrobat Pro, but a Microsoft  user profile problem.  I disagree because all my programs work except for Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    1.  Make sure that you have a password for your administrative user account.
    2.  Elevate and display The Command Prompt as follows:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Right Click on Command Prompt > Right Click on Run as administrator>
Agree to let program make changes to computer > The command prompt will be open.
The command prompt will display something like; C:\windows\system32
    3.  Now it's time to run Acrobat Pro as an Administrator.  You may have to adjust the following statement to get the correct path to acrobat.exe. Edit the command prompt.  Space once after system32 and paste the following and hit enter.
    runas/user:administrator "c:\program files (x86)\adobe\acrobat 9.0\acrobat\acrobat.exe"
    (do not space after 9.0)
    4. Enter the administrator password when asked and hit enter.
    5.  The program should start.
You may wonder why you didn't just right click on the Acrobat icon on your desktop and run as administrator. The reason is because it doesn't work and this does.  I have tested this on Windows 7 Acrobat 9.0 Pro.  It's a pain to go through the steps everytime you open Acrobat Pro, but Adobe won't fix this problem.  I loaded a trial version of 11.0 and they still haven't fixed the problem so we will just have to use work arounds.  I'm not going to hand them another $199 when they refuse to fix the problem that has not been fixed in at least three versions.  Another solution is to create a new administrative type user account and move all your data to the new account.  No Thank you.  Adobe is not on my good list.

Purchased acrobat pro but won't open when I sign in

    Hi Coloredge,
What operating system are you on, and what happens when you try to open Acrobat? Do you receive any sort of error message?  Did you run into any trouble when you downloaded and installed Acrobat?
I look forward to hearing back from you so that we can get to the bottom of this.
    Best,

  • Acrobat Pro 9 and Leopard Won't Recognize Scanner

Hi, I'm new to this forum.
I am running OS 10.5.5 on an iMac (intel core duo processor), and using Acrobat Pro 9.0.0. I have an Epson 1640SU scanner, and it has worked fine through all of OS X including Tiger 10.4.11 and Acrobat Pro 9 on my PowerPC (G4 PowerMac). However, I cannot get it to recognize a scanner in Acrobat Pro. When I go to File, Create PDF, From Scanner I get the Acrobat Scan window but there are no scanners available (under Tiger with Acrobat Pro on the PowerMac G4 this window would then allow me to select my scanner). I downloaded the latest Epson drivers, and the scanner works fine with Adobe Photoshop CS3 (IN ROSETTA MODE). Epson had a note regarding CS3 which indicated to set it to operate in Rosetta mode (whatever that is) and the instructions to do so by checking a box in the Get Info command from the Application Finder window. Acrobat Pro does not have any option like that.
Anyhow, am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else run across this? Is there a solution which allows scanning direct from the Acrobat Pro application?
My current work around is to scan in CS3 or the Epson Scan application then to save the document and then to open in with Acrobat Pro and then to work on it.
Thanks for any ideas, information or assistance.
    Barry

the check mark by the scanner in the system preferences indicates That the driver is active. you wan to uncheck all the scanner drivers except any associated with Epson.
what you do once you get into acrobat, is choose the scan device. which should show (choosing SANE). Now go to File menu and choose make PDF from Scanner. If everything is set you get a menu of whether you want front page only Both and so on there will also in acrobat 9 be some setting for Optical Character recognition and so on.
Then choose to start scan after setting everything. Now you will have to wait for the SANE Scanner menu to come up. choose whether color Greyscale or line art and set the slider for the desired DPI. now hit preview. let scanner scan item them you can click anywhere in the bounding box to make it disappear and you can choose the desired portion of document you wan to scan.
Ok and make sure you down only the versions of the components for the OSX version your using. each is written different according to the OS.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 won't recognize secure home network

Hi, just got an HP Officejet Pro. Setup went great, except for a snafu with our home network: it won't recognize it, even when I manually enter the name and password. It will however recognize our unsecured guest network. I temporarily set it up on that, but I'd rather be using the secured home network. I've run the wizard several times, reset to factory settings, all with the same result. Help?

    Hi,
The issue could be due to the the Encryption level used in the router. You can try the solution available here

  • Acrobat Pro XI won't even open, immediately shuts down

My trial period finished, and I just bought the license, but it won't work.
As soon as I double click on the acrobat pro application, it just shows a window for about 5 seconds and immediately shuts down... I can't believe i payed for this and haven't been able to use it.
    I have OS X 10.9.5
    and then I get this...

    someone help please!!

  • Acrobat Pro XI won't download to my 64 bit Win Vista Machine - Why?

Is it because it runs on an AMD Turlon 64 bit processor or is It Vista, the dinosaur?  Any help with how to proceed would be appreciated... I bought the "car" (Acrobat Pro XI), but the Dealer (Adobe) won't let me park it in my garage (Laptop) because the roof is 5 years old on my house. I jest, but you get the analogy...
All i really want to do is password protect a PDF that I was sent and then filled the form and want to email to someone else and I don't want just anyone to be able to open the completed form...any tips here and maybe I can return the car to the dealer.. haha

Thanks for the info on security.  Not sure the other party I am intending to send the document to is technically capable  to handle certificates.
i Suppose if I could use a 128 hashed key as the password, it might be "good enough".
On a lighter side, a halfway decent password (non dictionary words) is STILL better than shopping at a Billion $$ Furtune 1000 company like Target, Home Depot, or TJ Mexx to name a few (100 Milion cumomter account info stolen)..
To continue my analog, I'm not ready to build a new grage for the new car just quite yet.... so the car goes back to the dealer...
So, I am still looking for a way to pasword protect a PDF. Does it need to occur at time of  PDF document creation?
thanks in advance if someone knows a solution to my Password issue.

  • Acrobat Pro XI won't update using CC desktop

I have CC for teams and Acrobat XI Pro will not update through the Creative Cloud desktop app on Macs (haven't tested Windows yet). As a test I removed all instances of Adobe from my system (apps, application support files, prefs, launch daemons, everything) and installed the latest Creative Cloud desktop application (1.7.2.419 as of 9/3/14). Logged in and installed Acrobat Pro and it installed version 11.0.0., not 11.0.7, or any previous version. Ok, so its installing an old version, kind of odd but surely the CC desktop app will know its out of date and offer an update. Nope. How about a restart... nope again. I tried this on a couple other systems and got the same results so it appears that the CC desktop app is installing out of date versions of the apps and then not recognizing they're out of date.
Is this happening for anyone else?

i installed acrobat xi cc a few days ago (on a new computer).  it just now updated from 11.0.0 to 11.0.8 (i think)

  • Adobe acrobat pro xi won't open

I purchased acrobat pro xi several weeks ago and now today i cannot open any adobe file. I get a window asking for permission for adobe to change settings on this computers. I click yes and then nothing. No selected pdf will open.

I am also having the same problem does anyone know what is going on?

  • Acrobat Pro X Won't Open, please help.

I have Creative Suite 6, which I purchased last summer.   I mostly only use Photoshop and Illustrator.  I have used Acrobat Pro X before without problems, however I have not used it now for several months.  But today, I tried to use Acrobat Pro X, and at first, it opened for maybe 20 seconds, and then closed.  I tried to reopen the file again, and on this, and all subsequent attempts, Acrobat Pro would not open at all.
A few minutes ago, I looked at the Acrobat Pro forum, and someone named TMoellman had the exact same problem as I did, with his question being posted earlier today.  The moderator told TMoellman to go to the CS forum.  I hoped to find his question here, and an answer.  But I found nothing.
I have Windows 8.1.  I used an application that checks all of my programs for updates, and it told me my Acrobat Pro X was up to date.  I also re-booted my PC a couple of times.
What do I do?  Thank you, Chuck

Hi Lisley56, I found the solution there is a Plug in for Acrobat X Pro that came with Adobe Suite CS6... I downloaded it and that did it!!! It's called "Acrofix". Try looking it up in the Adobe website!!! I hope it works!!

  • Premiere Pro CS6 won't recognize alpha channel in .tiff file from photoshop

    Hey Everyone,
I'm new to Premiere Pro, but I have used Final Cut Pro 6-7. Anyway, I created a 3D text design in Photoshop to use on top of another photo in a video in Premiere. In Photoshop, the alpha channel appears fine. In Premiere Pro it is not recognized. Instead, a white background appears where the alpha channel should be. When I layered the 3D text on top of a photo (in Premiere Pro), the white still appears around the 3D text design. After I imported the file, I did click on the .tiff file and clicked on modify---->interpret footage----->alpha channel (where I deselected ignore alpha channel). Premiere Pro still does not recognize the alpha channel. Should I convert the Photoshop file to another format or is there something I'm not doing? I'm spending more time trying to figure this out than I am on putting this short video/photo slide show together. I would greatly appreciate any help anyone can offer.

Thanks Ann!!! Seriously, you just saved me hours of aggravation. I didn't know I had to select that in Photoshop. I was under the impression that Adobe product files were seamless.

  • Acrobat Pro XI - won't add pages??

Acrobat Pro XI - Windows XP. Try to add pages - just freezes - sometimes asks "Before or after" - but takes 2 minutes for this. Often it just crashes. Anyone else had this?

Bucko, that is an excellent call!!
My company got real sick of the lack of support, the obnoxious insistence on private personal data of our employees and the distinct difficulties obtaining support from their applications which become more problematic with each upgrade.
80% of our company's workstations and laptops have been unable to complete updates due to the "rollback" problem - which we were told had to do with errors in Adobe's allocation of our group licences which they took almost a whole month to resolve.
If you bought your copy of Adobe from an online vendor you may have been given a dodgy ISO to download.
As consumers it is our obligation to RESPECT the EULA of Adobe, not to spend hours of our valuable time PROTECTING it! Lost time to due productivity interruption and wasted time talking to dodgy support staff renders the product excessively overpriced and uneconomical.
Foxit is a great alternative!  ......  and there are others too.
Pursuit of monopoly gains rather than the pursuit of technological advancement will make these bloated software companies as redundant as the proverbial dinosaurs if they are not a little more careful and a little less arrogant.
