Acrobat Pro: Can't select an item

Hello,
I'm new to editing PDFs and I'm unable to select an item unless I click-and-drag a box around it. This wouldn't normally be a big problem, but the item I want to remove is below some text elements and vector drawings. I'm trying to remove the black rectangle shown in this short movie clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_Un6QjGqME
I'm guessing that I am just using the wrong tool, but I don't know for sure. Any ideas?
Thanks!

I go it fixed.  Okay here's what you do.
Open PDF in Acrobat.
choose from Tools Edit Text and Images
Next select everything in the Illustration that's in the Black area including the Black area.
next hold down control key and click on edit in....
If you have Illustrator choose.
Now click on black area careful not to select anything else.
Hit delete. The black will disappear leaving the rest.
Save (not save as).
Quit Illustrator.
Now look to see if black area is Gone. If so save Pdf.
here is my fixed version:https://www.dropbox.com/s/jzw2z7ltxh8qiri/exampleb.pdf

  • Only getting context menus- can't select an item?

I spilled some tea on my Macbook Pro key board- cleaned it up and dried it out. Now whenever I try to select an item (mac mail, numbers, finder) only get a context menu.  Can't select an item or type.  Mac mail can only look at one of my mail boxes can select and open an email but can't reply because never reach body of email because of menu opening for that item.
Sorry, if not clear enough with descriptions- any help would be great.
    Thank you!

It sounds as if you've encountered hardware damage due to your liquid spill. The only thing that you can do at this point is to take the machine into your local Apple Store or an AASP and have them diagnose the extent of the damage and give you an estimate for repair.
    Good luck,

Can I select multi items in slicer by touch operation in Power View sheet ?
I want to making presentation Power View charts by touch operation.
Mouse and Keyboard operation can select multi items in slicer by CTRL+click.
    How can I do by touch-screen ?
    Regards,
    Yoshihiro Kawabata

In HTML5 version, you can click on the multi select button in the chart/slicer and this will allow you to select/deselect multiple items by simply clicking/touching it without CTRL+click. You can see this in action here

  • How can I select an item from a list component with a seperate button

This is a repost, I decided it'd probably be better here than
in the general discussion board. I will try to delete the other
    one.
    Hello Everyone,
This is my first post here. I am trying to figure out how to
select an item within a list component with a button. This button
is calling a function. I have searched for the past 3 hours online
and I can't find anything about it. I thought perhaps I could set
the selectedItem parameter, but that is read only, and I believe it
returns an object reference rather than something like a number so
even if i could set it, it would be pointless. I also found a get
focus button, thought that may lead me somewhere, but I think that
is for setting which component has focus currently as far as typing
in and things like that. I am lost.
Basically I am looking for a way to type this
myList.setSelected(5); where 5 is the 5th item in the list.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Never mind found it. It is the property called selectedIndex
    and it is writable

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro can't handle time zones?

I normally work in Texas, but at the moment I am in San Francisco. I have updated the time zone on my Mac OS X 10.6.4 system accordingly. When I attempt to certify a PDF using Acrobat Pro 9.3.3, my digital signature (that I just created on the PDF) is considered invalid by Adobe Acrobat because it "appears to be in the future."
As best as I can explain it, here's what appears to be happening:
My computer is set to Pacific Time Zone. It's 11:44 AM PDT
    I digitally certify a PDF.
The Signature Properties say the date of signature is 2010/07/28 13:44:36 -05'00'.
The timestamp included with the signature is dated 2010/07/28 13:44:36 -05'00'
For some reason, Acrobat Pro thinks that the signature is invalid because it appears to be in the future. Why
isn't Acrobat Pro smart enough to handle time zones?
I'm uncertain as to how this error could be occurring. I am using a timestamp server (http://tsa.starfieldtech.com) to timestamp my digital signature. There doesn't appear to be any preference in Acrobat for time zone support, so it must be determining the local time from the system clock, but without the context of timezone.

    Hi Sasha,
Was Acrobat running when you reset the system time? If so the original system time (in reality the GMT offset) was loaded into memory at launch and didn't get reset when you modified the System Preference. Acrobat should be able to pick up the new GMT offset, see you are at -7:00 (PDT) and make the changes accordingly.
As you might have noticed, when it comes to digital signatures, all of the times are in "Generalized Time Format". A lot of people mistake this for "European Time" because the month doesn't come first, but this is an ISO standard where the time starts with the year.

  • Using BT Keyboard (A1314) - Can't Select Multiple Items

Recently bought Mini and separately purchased a BT KB. When I use the command key to select multiple items, I can't. Whichever item I click on while holding the command button, it just selects that item, not the group.
Also when holding down the 'shift' key, I cannot select items in sequence. I have looked in prefs, but nothing having to do with this issue.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Try resetting the PRAM.

  • I just started up with my IPod, I download music to my library and I accidently changed the artists name in an entire category.  I can't figure out how to undo it. I read the edit help stuff but I can't select the item I need to edit

I just started using my IPod and I downloaded my library.  I accidently changed the artist names for an entire genre category and I can't undo it.  I read all the edit help stuff and I either can't select items to edit or I'm an idiot and I can't figure it out.  I keep trying and I get a pop up that asks me if I want to change multiple items.

Did you ever resolve the iCloud problem.I am in the same position and its driving me mad!!! If you have a link to an solution I would appreciate it.

Try reinstalling the drivers that came with the mouse.

  • Can't select multiple items with shift key os 10.7

I can use command A to select all, and I can select multiple items with command and individually clicking each one, but not using Shift and clicking on the first and last items.  Any ideas?

You need to display the window in column or list view. Shift-clicking items won't do that in icon view.

  • HT3819 can you select the items you don't want your family to be able to see?

I want to get some of my dad's songs he has on his ipod without buying them so i was going to try using the home sharing but i dont want to share all of my songs. Before i turn home sharing on i would like to know if i can select the items i want and don't want my family to be able to see

I really do appreciate everyone's input to my question. I guess what I wanted to do, and how it can be done aren't as simple as I had hoped. But I know what will work now. Thank you again and have a nice holiday season.

  • Can I re-scale scanned documents in Acrobat Pro (can't print drawings to correct scale)

I have several scanned drawings of my house (originals is pre-CAD) that when printed instead of e.g. 1:400 is 1:330 and 1:100 is 1:130 and similar. This "odd" scale is ok for me personally but not the people at the building inspection department that need to approve the small updates I've done.
So it would be good to be able to say in a document that this distance should be Xmm when printed.
The method I'm using now is to use custom scale when printing e.g. choose 87% instead of 100% but this method is very paper and time consuming for several drawings with slightly different scale problems. And I would like to correct this in these pdf-drawings so I don't have to bother with this in the future.
Is there a way to handle this?

  • Can't select menu items in top 25% of the browser window much of the time.

Running Windows 7 Pro on a new (2-months) HP Ultrabook with FF 15.0.1. Many times, selectable items do not work, but generally in the top 20-30% of the browser window. With the pointer hovering over selections, it does not change to indicate is a selectable item, nor will it let you select. It happens on well-known websites such as Yahoo!, HP, etc. It doesn't do this all the time, but I'd say at least 50% of the time, even if you reload the page and allow all sites with NoScript. There is no filtering warning.

That problem can be caused by an extension like the Yahoo! Toolbar or a Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • The minimize, maximize and close buttons don't work, and I can't select any items in drop-down menus.

Running Firefox 23.01 on Windows, and two days ago I lost the ability to maximize, minimize or close windows via the buttons in the upper righthand corner. I also am unable to select a choice in dropdown menus, and for good measure I cannot x out of the About window that popped up went I wanted to check my version number!
I've looked in the support forum and seen that this is not an uncommon problem. However, I have tried every suggested solution I could find - reset Firefox several times, turned off hardware acceleration, opened in safe mode and finally uninstalled and reinstalled the program (deleting the old program folders before reinstalling as recommended - and nothing has worked.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

    * [http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/ ESET Online Scanner]
[http://windows.microsoft.com/MSE Microsoft Security Essentials] is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
