Acrobat pro crashes a lot when I am annotating and commenting in a pdf

I am running Acrobat Pro on a MacBook plus I have the app for the iPad (for synching).  I commonly annotate, highlight, and comment in articles or in forms.  Recently (within the last 3 months), the program stops, closes the document (losing any changes I have since the last save) and shows a screen with a system log file and  the option to "report the problem" to Adobe (which I always have).  Is this a common problem? It seems to be the only program that is behaving in this manner.  I will continue to search for some insight but would appreciate any guidance or suggestions.
Thank you!

Hi Sara,
Thanks for moving the discussion over.  I have been working on the issue a little, and I believe I have isolated the problem to the "Add Text" feature under the tools menu.  In a new pdf, I select the "Add Text" option, then change the options for it (e.g., red text, 10pt), and begin annotating the document by inserting the text in the document.  When I finish (no longer adding text) and perform another action (going to another page, highlight text), within a few keystrokes, Acrobat crashes.  I have replicated the process a few times now.
Thanks, again.

I have an iMac OSX (version 10.9.2).  Adobe Acrobat Pro crashes every time I try to use the "find" function.  Anyone else have this issue?

I was having this issue too. After a bit of a search I found an official response from Adobe with a patch you can install until the next update.

  • Acrobat Pro crashed from Network Accounts [FIX]

In case anyone else has this problem and stumbles across this during a search...
Acrobat Pro will unexpectedly quit when opened from a network account. This is because Acrobat tries to write to
    ~/Library/Application\ Support/Adobe/Acrobat/10.0 but can't.
    Here is the fix:
    rm -Rf ~/Library/'Application Support'/Adobe/Acrobat/10.0
    mkdir /Users/Shared/10.0
    ln -s /Users/Shared/10.0 ~/Library/'Application Support'/Adobe/Acrobat/10.0

  • Reinstalled Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 won't let me print web pages to PDFs

I'm really ticked at Adobe's "help" in updating the program only to cause a lot of misery.  I'd read Acrobat had a security update, and got a constant reminder from Adobe update to install the available update.  I've been using Acrobat Pro 8.1.6 with absolutely no problems printing web pages to PDFs.  I installed the 8.1.7 update which immediately disabled Acrobat completely.  So I wasted a lot of time uninstalling Acrobat and reinstalling sequential versions to get back to 8.1.6.  Now I can't print web pages to a PDF.
I had NOT done anything else to installed programs in the meantime, except that probably Norton has automatically updated antivirus files in the background.  I don't have any problems using Acrobat to open and print an existing PDF, or to create new PDFs from my scanner.  I can do a hardcopy print of a webpage by selecting my Brother printer.  From Word 2002 and Excel 2002, I can create a PDF by "printing" to Acrobat as usual.   The only problem is creating a PDF by "printing" a webpage by selecting Acrobat as the device from the list of available printers.  This problem happens both with Firefox and with Internet Explorer 7.
I have Windows XP Pro SP3.  I did the most recent Windows Tuesday security update several days before messing around with Acrobat and did not have any problems printing PDF files from Firefox or IE7.  So, it seems like it's clearly an Adobe Acrobat problem.  I get the small box saying "Preparing to Print" which goes nowhere and then I have to use the Task Manager to get out of the loop.  That closes Firefox, and when I reopen Firefox, the same webpage comes up.

    Hi Memalyn
Essentially, the bare issue is that you have a 500GB hard drive with only 10GB free. That is not sufficient to run the system properly. The two options you have are to move/remove files to another location, or to install a larger hard drive (eg 2TB). Drive space has nothing to do with SMC firmware, and usually large media files are to blame.
My first recommendation is this: download and run the free OmniDiskSweeper. This will identify the exact size of all your folders - you can drill down into the subfolders and figure out where your largest culprits are. For example, you might find that your Pictures folder contains both an iPhoto Library and copies that you've brought in from a camera but are outside the iPhoto Library structure. Or perhaps you have a lot of purchased video content in iTunes.
If you find files that you KNOW you do not need, you can delete them. Don't delete them just because you have a backup, since if the backup fails, you will lose all your copies.
Don't worry about "cleaners" for now - they don't save much space and can actually cause problems. Deal with the large file situation first and see how you get on.
Let us know what you find out, and if you manage to get your space back.
    Matt

  • IMac. Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.3.1. Since I installed Yosemite, cannot insert a pdf document into a pdf document. What's my upgrade?

I have an iMac with Yosemite. I have Adobe Acrobat Pro van 8.3.1.
I am unable to insert a pdf document into a  pdf document. I go to Document/Insert in the menu bar, get a spinning ball, can do nothing with the app except force-quit.
What's my upgrade? I cannot find one. Do I have to pay full price for a version that will work?

Your version of Acrobat is quite old and not compatible with any current OS, so problems are to be expected. It is too old to qualify for an upgrade as well, so if you want the current version (XI) then you need to purchase a new license, which you can do via the Adobe Products Page.

Hello, I have MacBook Pro with Retina display. How can I get retina support to my Adobe Acrobat pro? It is version 10.1.13 and it says it is up to date.

Problem is that my pdf files look terrible although I have MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). I have Adobe Creative Suite Design  Standard version 6.0 (Mac). I have installed every possible update. I think problem is that for some reason my CS doesn´t support retina display? If I view a pdf file in iMessage, it looks fantastic. But if I open the same document in Adode Acrobat Pro, it looks awful. What can I do?
Thank you so much for your help.

It sounds like an issue of trying to run XI on VISTA. That combination does not work. Info on both the Acrobat full version (including sub-version) and OS would help. It might also be an issue of running 11.0.0 on a system that needs the updates to work.

  • Upgrade to Acrobat Pro XI on Window 8.1 downloads, installs and configures. Then pressing the launch button in the dialog box doesn't launch program.

Using the start button, Acrobat Pro should appear. But it might not, being Windows 8. Maybe it puts an icon on your desktop, maybe not.
How about checking c:\program files (X86)\adobe\acrobat 11.0\acrobat. If you have this folder, look for Acrobat.exe.
