  • Could not find the application that created this file Acrobat Pro XI and .pptx file

    Hi,
I just installed Acrobat Pro XI and I am trying to combine files into one pdf. The combine feature works fine with Word, excel, other pdfs but does not work with powerpoint files (.pptx). I have searched and found others have been having this issues for many past versions. I found a workaround (print the powerpoint to pdf and then merge the files) but I should not have to do it that way. Can someone help me out? Powerpoint is installed on my computer, the print pdf function works, and the Adobe add-in is active (these are the 3 solution I keep encountering) but it still will not combine a powerpoint file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Steve

    Hi Stephen ,
Could you please elaborate a bit more  that what exactly happens when you try to combine .pptx file?
Do you get any error message?
If yes ,please share the screen shot of the same.
Are you facing  challenge with the powerpoint files only?
I have tried the same on my end and it is working perfectly fine .
Try updating your Acrobat to the latest version .
    Launch Acrobat>Navigate to Help>Check for Updates .

  • Batch limit of 256 files in Acrobat Pro 8 and 9?

I've recently encountered a problem where Acrobat Pro (8 and 9) will not batch process more than 256 files.
I maintain a technical reference collection of 1500 PDFs that I sometimes run batch operations on for routine housekeeping.  I've been doing these types of batch operations for the last 5 or so years without problem.
At first, I thought it might be something corrupt in some of the files, but an experiment ruled out that possibility.
I used Acrobat Pro 9 to create a blank, one-page pdf.
I then used the following DOS command
         for /L %f in (1,1,300) do copy D:\batch_test\blank.pdf D:\batch_test\%fblank.pdf
    to create 300 identical copies named 1blank.pdf, 2blank.pdf, ..., 300blank.pdf .
Each file was 6 Kb in size.
I then ran different batch operations (count number of files, count number of pages, number pages) on the folder containing the 300 blank files using the batch processing utilities accessible from  Advanced > Document Processing > Batch Processing.
In all cases, the batches processed 256 files and then stated that they could not open the remaining files.
The stated reason that it could not open the remaining files is that they "are already open."
When I looked in the output folder (a different folder from D:\batch_test) designated for the batch operation, I found 256 files had been processed.
Has anyone else encountered a similar limit?
I'm not a programmer, but I recall 256 being some type of array limit for some programming languages and wondered if this might be related to the cause.

The problem appears to be related to a plugin for geopdf enabled files.  I've written to the company's support group.

  • Acrobat Pro 7 and Acrobat Reader

    Hi,
I want to use the "send for review" feature of my aging Acrobat Pro 7 and am wondering if (1) current versions of Acrobat Reader can work this way with my version 7 or (2) there are older versions of Reader available for download.
It's been a while since I've used this process, so I'm trying to get up to speed -- more or less. :-)
    Thx/J

  • Acrobat Pro XI and FormsCentralPlus

    Hello
I have Acrobat Pro XI and from what I can see FormsCentralPlus should be included within that subscription?  However when trying to create a new form I am asked to upgrade??

What is included with Acrobat Professional is a FormsCentral desktop application that allows you to create unlimited PDF forms, it does not include a subscription to the online service.  You can use Acrobat and the FormsCentral Desktop application to create PDF forms and with the Free FormsCentral account to create one online form.  In order to take advantage of the subscription features you would need to also have a subscription to FormsCentral.
This FAQ talks more about what you get with Acrobat vs a Subscription: Which Adobe form solution is right for me (FormsCentral or Acrobat)?
    Thanks,

  • Why not let me have Acrobat Pro XI and DC much like I have CS6 and CC?

I've loved CC so far because it let me have both CS6 and the new CC apps. That meant there was no slowdown in production while I learn how to use the new app. When crunch time came, I could just turn to my trusty old app that I know like the back of my hand. I'm a huge fan of the CC subscription model and the constant rollouts, but this is the first time I felt like the rollout was forced upon me.

    Thanks Dov,
That makes sense for why Acrobat is the exception to the parallel installation rule. Thanks for the explanation. I didn't mean to imply that Adobe made me install DC, just that there doesn't seem to be a way to roll back the installation - at least not within the Creative Cloud App. Is there a trick to do that?
Also, I haven't tried this, but could I have both Acrobat Pro XI and Reader DC on the same machine? I was thinking of using that as a work around to have both the old familiar acrobat, but also start using the doc share/fill and sign stuff that I like in the new DC. Does that cause too many problems to be practical?

  • I purchased and downloaded Acrobat Pro XI and have installed it.  I want to create a reinstall disk should I ever need it.  I planned on using a DVD.  I'm running Win 7 Pro w/SP1.

    Hi halb10567672,
You can download the setup file again from this Link (Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X ) and Burn it to a DVD Disc using Windows Explorer.
Please revert back for any further query or assistance.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Windows Vista

The last version of Adobe I used to use is version 5. Of
course that is outdated, and it would appear that the files I
created with that version are not compatible with the Adobe Reader
    9. So I downloaded the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and
tried to install it. The computer I am trying to install it on is
new and the OS running is Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit I
believe). When it says it is installing, after it reaches
99.blah-blah % it keeps asking me about a scanner being connected.
What the heck is that all about? It's weird. I connect my scanner
and it scans and I print a document to a Microsoft OneNote file,
after which when I close the scanner window the program is not
installed at all. I check my program list from my start menu to see
if it is there; and nothing. This thing is, why the heck doesn't it
just install the full trial program like any other normal
installation? I just want to be able to send word, excel, etc.
documents using the acrobat distiller like I used to and create pdf
documents. This is very frustrating. If this is some kind of
strange compatibility issue with Vista, than I am really starting
to regret buying a system with Vista on it more and more. Can
anyone tell me what is going on here. What I may be doing wrong?
    Anything. Please help. Thank you.

    Hey quantum info,
Thank you for posting at Adobe forums. We would love to help you out.
Could you please let me know if you have tried converting other web pages to PDF and checked if the same issue persists.
How have you been trying to convert the web page to PDF?
Are you trying to convert to PDF directly via browsers or using "File > Create > PDF from Web Page"  option in Acrobat.
Let me know more so that I can analyze where actually the issue persists.
    Hope to hear from you.

  • Acrobat Pro XI and Acrobat Pro 9 Simultaneous Installation

    Greetings -
At our institution we have a contract to license Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and related projects.  I have a constituent whose computer now has Adobe Acrobat Pro XI, but he would also like to install Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.  Can both products coexist?
    Anthony -

    Hi mullenanthonyj ,
Thank you for posting on the Adobe forums, firstly you would not be able to install Acrobat 9 over Acrobat 11.
Secondly Adobe does not recommend installing two versions of Acrobat together on one system, i might create unexpected behavior in functionality
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat Pro XI and ScanSnap iX500

I use a ScanSnap iX500 on Mac running OS !0.10.2. The ScanSnap uses an ABBYY built-in ocr engine and it generates an excellent ocr layer. I can see the OCR layer in other apps and I know it is excellent. And other apps that handle pdfs (PDFpenPro and Skim) can word search the layer perfectly. Recently, however, Acrobat Pro XI cannot word search files scanned and ocr'd by the ScanSnap, even though the layer is complete and excellent. Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix this? I have re-installed Acrobat Pro XI and the ScanSnap software (including the ABBYY part) from scratch, and all software is fully updated. This is occurring on two Macs; it is not confined to one machine.

I'm having the exact same problem with both my Macbook Pro and my iMac 5k Retina. I was ready to return my ScanSnap iX500 thinking the OCR was broken but it's Acrobat that has the problem. My ScanSnap iX500 scans the document and I have the OCR setup correctly but both Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and the Adobe Reader barely pick up any of the OCR text in the document. Pure text documents seem to be OCR readable with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI but keyword searching  bills or bank statements or anything that the text is broken up into sections seems to be useless as most of the words don't show and are not searchable.
I can see the that the documents are properly OCR searchable as Mac Yosemite will index all the keywords so I can find the document in finder but acrobat can't search them. I can also keyword search properly the documents using Macs built in Preview app.
I've also tried OCR indexing the documents using the ScanSnap iX500's built in hardware, ABBYY Finereader express, Scansnap receipt, Searchable PDF converter but Acrobat won't properly keyword search any of them.
The only solution I've found is to scan the documents with or without OCR then open Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and rescan the OCR again. You can do this on one document or a Batch of documents so you could fix all your PDF's overnight. After that then Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and Adobe Reader can OCR search the documents properly.
Here's the solution I'm using until Adobe fixes Acrobat on the Mac. Just have Acrobat rescan the OCR and save the file to fix is. Instructions below:
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/acrobat/pdfs/adobe-acrobat-xi-scan-pape r-to-pdf-and-apply-ocr-tutoria…
Scan paper to PDF and apply OCR with Adobe® Acrobat® XI
Scan and convert paper documents and forms to PDF. Make scanned text searchable automatically with optical character recognition (OCR), and then check and fix suspected errors.
    Scan to PDF
Apply OCR to a scanned PDF document
    Open the PDF file.
    2. In Acrobat select View>Tools>TextRecognition. TheText Recognition panel in the Tools pane opens.
    3. Click In This File. Designate the desired pages and click OK. Acrobat applies OCR to the scanned document.

  • Forms compatibility between Acrobat Pro 8 and Reader 9

Hi everyone. I have a problem to resolve as quick as I can. I haven't find any answers yet, maybe someone will know what's going on with my forms.
I'm working on a document made by another graphic designer, I can't reach this person. When I use his forms, it works in Acrobat Pro 8 and Reader 9, users can fill out forms and save a copy. BUT, I have to made a modification in the forms. I use the Touch Up tools in Acrobat Pro 8, made a copy, but this copy have a problem: users cannot fill forms and save a copy in Reader 9. They can only print the form and fill it by hand. I can't find any options to made my forms compatible with Reader 9 when I save the copy.
Do you have any idea why the original forms of the guy works but not mine?? My client is a bit mad
    Thank you!
    Karine

I am having a similar issue where I created a form and when I sent it to my team members (who only have reader) they are not able to fill in the form.  It is like a document for them.  I  have done the "extended rights" several times in trying to figure out what is going on and it is still not working.  Do you have any thoughts of what else I might try?  I am very new to this all and very confused and frustrated right now.
    Thanks!

I have a Macbook Pro. I just purchased Acrobat Pro DC and keep getting an error message when I try to download, saying I need to contact support. I've eliminated previous versions of the application because they were US-based versions and I'm now living in Australia.
