Acrobat pro server side install
I have a client considering a 200 user Acrobat Pro server install. What type of server resources would an install such as this require?
You may want to look at either at Citrix or WTS installation options. Look at the ETK reference.
Citrix: 12 Citrix Deployments — Enterprise Administration Guide
WTS: 13 Windows Terminal Services — Enterprise Administration Guide

I am using windows 8 and the Adobe Cloud shows that Adobe Acrobat Pro XI is installed and updated, but I can't find the app, and, when looking at my list of programs to "uninstall", I don't see it listed either. (I thought a possible solution might be to uninstall and install again)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!HI Marshapearson,
Please try removing Acrobat from the link mentioned below.
Link : http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html.
Once you have removed the product, please launch the Creative CLoud APP once again and install ACrobat on the machine .
Let us know if you face any further issue or if it worked fine for you .
Thanks & Regards,

Acrobat Pro XI when installed over Acrobat 9 Pro removes LiveCycle Designer.
Acrobat Pro XI when installed over Acrobat 9 Pro removes LiveCycle Designer. Forms Central can't open LiveCycle Designer Forms so what do you do?
I have uninstalled XI and re-installed LiveCycle Designer only. On re-installation, I chose not to uninstall version 9 and to do a customer set up (not installing forms central).
LiveCycle is now working along with Acrobat ProXILiveCycle Designer is no longer distributed as part of the Acrobat release. I think it is available as a separate product. At this point, Acrobat provides the AcroForm type tools (kind of hard to get to, just as in some previous versions) and the option for Forms Central. The whole focus has changed. I suspect that others may be in the same situation of trying to get their forms to interact in Acrobat or Forms Central, but at this point I do not think there is any way to back Designer forms into either of the two current formats. Not much help, but a comment in any case.

I purchased an annual subscription to Acrobat Pro XI and installed on my Mac two days ago. I cannot open PDFs. I keep getting a dialogue box saying my trial has ended and asking if I want to buy the software. Was using Acrobat Pro 9 previously. It appears even that won't open. SOS!
Hi Margot ,
You can click on accept or buy ,which ever option you see on that dialog box.It will prompt you to type in your Adobe Credentials. You can license it by doing the same.
If it still doesn't work ,follow these steps and see how it goes .
Delete all the files from following folders:
[Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLStore
[Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/SLCache
And, delete all files from following folder except cache.db
[Home]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AdobePCD
Then launch Acrobat and try to activate and check.

Server Side Install on Solaris
Hello,
I have OWB 9.2.0.2 client on WinXP (Design Time Install) and Oracle 9.2.0.2 database on Solaris. I have to install Server Side Components and run Runtime Assistant to create Runtime Repository and Runtime Access User.
I have downloaded OWB 9.2.0.2.8 for Solaris.
When I start Universal Installer I get message that I must have different Oracle Home for this installation. If I enter different home on same user, what will happen with old environment home variable ORACLE_HOME? This database is important and I don't know what will happen with environment variables? So, I created another user and new oracle home "oracle9i_owb". When I set environment and start installation \usr\....\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.oui\2.2.0.14.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded\install\solaris\runInstaller.sh there is a mesasage: %PROD_HOME%\install: does't exist.
So I created environment variable PROD_HOME that looks on ....\Expanded\ but it doesn't work. (PROD_HOME is inside new ORACLE_HOME due to instructions in guide that came with this installation.)
What is the problem here?
Thanx,
BranimirHello

Can Acrobat XI be installed on a Windows PC where CS4 (which includes Acrobat Pro 9) is installed?
I have previously been told by Adobe tech support that the applications included in CS4 cannot be upgraded individually, and my guess would be that Acrobat XI and Acrobat Pro 9 cannot coexist on the same machine. But I wanted to check and make sure.

I bought Adobe Acrobat Pro XI but installing software does not recognize Acrobat 7.0 Pro for upgrade
That's correct.
Acrobat 8 is the earliest version from which you can upgrade to Acrobat XI

Unfortunately, Acrobat 7 is not eligible. -
ODAC, ODT why do they need server side install?
I am a DBA who was recently asked to do some research on Oracle development tools for Visual Studio .Net 2008.
I downloaded the ODAC and ODT (ODTwithODAC1020221.exe) from OTN. I am under the impression that these development tools are installed on the client workstation. Is this correct? If yes, then I cannot explain why the installation of ODAC and ODT fails immediately complaining that it needs Oracle development extension for .Net installed in the Oracle home.
I go to the Oracle development extensions for .Net and it is a server side install. Can someone please tell me what exactly needs to be done to get the Oracle development tools for VS .Net working?
I have read the documentation and it does not say anything about a server side install. Sorry if I am not very clear. This is unknown territory for me.
Database version: 10.2.0.3
Visual Studio .Net 2008
Oracle client version 10.2.0.3
ThanksThanks for the reply. As I said, this is totally new to me so can you please point me to a download link?
As far as I know, I tried to install ODT on the client. I tried both with 10g and 11g. The installation stop at the third screen complaining it cannot find Oracle Database Extension for .Net in the Oracle home where I am trying to install. I am trying to install in c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1.
I downloaded from:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html
I tried the following downloads:
ODAC 11.1.0.6.20 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio
Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET with ODAC 10.2.0.2.21
Both the downloads clearly say that these are ODT but they fail to install. Please help me understand what do I need to download.
Thanks -
HeadStart 6i Server-Side Install
We are trying to perform the "Server Side Install" and while it does get started and
all the appropriate Oracle accounts are verified, the actual process that the install says will take about 15 to 20 minutes seems to run forever. We have terminated it once after letting it run overnight and some database objects did get
created for the HeadStart Template account but that's it - it never completes.
nullRon,
Did you get any errors in the log files that are created in the Headstart home directory? (are they created?) What objects are created in which schema's?
I once encountered problems that occured because I (the user that run the forms server process) didn't have write privileges on the headstart root directory.
You also might encounter problems if the import step doesn't succeed, can you start the import from the command line?
A last suggestion is to run the installer form client server instead of webforms, in my situation this did run as the write privileges on the headstart root then did not occur anymore.
Hope this helps,

Server side install of 9204 on AIX5L
Hello,
Has anybody been able to get the Server side install of 9204 on AIX5L to work. In particular, I have been able to successfully complete the 92028 install. I then did the 9204 patch install. When I went to deploy, I got an RTC-5301 service not available error. I ran the service_doctor.sql and it replied that all of the objects were present and valid, but that the service was not started. I then ran start_service.sql which replied "Not available". I have deinstalled and reinstalled three times with the same result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
CarlCutting and pasting from a previous post on the similar topic:
1. I don't think it's your case, but... - if you updated the DB from 9.2.0.1 to 9.2.0.4 than take a look at the metalink note 257687.1 ( http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=257687.1 - you have to have a metalink log-in to access the note )
2. In the directory <OWB_HOME>/owb/rtp/sql there are runtime diagnostic queries. first try show_service.sql to check if the rt service is running. If not, try to start it manually by running start_service.sql
3. Finally, could you take a look whether a job
wb_rti_service_job.check_service(1);
has been submitted by the runtime repository owner?
Connect as runtime repository owner, and execute:
select job, what
from user_jobs
Also, can you verify the number of background jobs that may run in the
database (default value is 10)? Run as system:
select value
from v$parameter
where name = 'job_queue-processes'
If the first query returns the wb_rti_service_job.check_service(1); in
the what, and the second query returns a value greater than 1 (hopefully
10), then you could connect as the runtime repository owner and manually
kick off the job that you retrieved by using:
exec dbms_job.run(<job number you retrieved in the first query>)

How can I get Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 to install?
I have a system with my Documents folder as a shared drive on a server. When I try to install Adobe Acrobat Pro 11, it complains "The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid" This error prevents the installation of Adobe Acrobat Pro. How can I resolve this?
Hi,
You cannot install the Software on Shared Drive. When you start the Installation please change the Installation folder to C: instead of your Shared Drive.

Word 2007 won't save files with Acrobat Pro 9.0 Installed
Last night an issue started occurring while trying to save a document in MS Word 2007 (part of an Office Ultimate install). After about 10 hours of trying several suggestions from a variety of forums and MS suggestions I found that the only time I cannot save a file by traditional means is when Acrobat is installed. I tried updating Acrobate and had the same thing happen. MS says all that's left for me to do is get an answer from Adobe (I have to wonder if it's a copout).
Steps taken so far:
Disabled the PDF add-in - still unable to save Word files
Removed PDF add-in - still unable to save Word files
Removed entire CS4 suite - Word was able to properly save files
Installed only the parts of the suite that I use frequently (Photoshop, Soundbooth, Premiere, Acrobat) - unable to save Word files
Removed Acrobat Pro 9.0 - Word saves files properly again
When I say it will not save a file I've tried the keyboard shortcuts for Save/Save As, Choosing the Save/Save As from drop down, and even attempted to save by closing the document. When prompted with the option to save changes I say yes and nothing will happen, I have to close the document with nothing saved.
I hate the idea of reinstalling Acrobat each time I need to use it to keep Word functional. I've seen a ton of threads on other forums related to this issue. Has anybody else seen this or know about a fix/work around? Any help is appreciated. Please let me know if additional detail is necessary.
The operating system for the affected computer is Windows 7 32-bit.I installed each update individually (6 of them) and rebooted after each update. Opened Word and attempted to save a document (after each update/reboot), the documents still cannot be saved (previously created documents still cannot have new detail saved).
Decided to delete the Office folder in the following path: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\PDFMaker\Office
Opened up word and Acrobat went through an installation processes, to replace what was removed I assume. After this was done I attempted to save a document and was still unable to do so. Went back and deleted that Office folder in the above path again. When opening Word this time I cancelled the installation process that Adobe was trying to complete. Preventing the install of the settings and PDF add-in allowed documents to be saved again in word.
I decided to try to remove the innactive add-in from my Word Options and received the following error message:
"The connected state of Office Add-Ins registered in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE cannot be changed"
Due to my deleting that folder?
I suppose I could cancel that installation that initiates each time I open Word (or any other Office program that benefits from Acrobat Add-ins) but that will be a bit of an annoyance.
Anybody have another suggestion, know what may need to be deleted from the registry to prevent the Add-ins installation when opening Word, or know where that setting can be changed?
Hopefully getting close to a resolution -
Acrobat Pro CS5.5 installed but won't work with my serialnumber
hi,
in 2012 I bought and downloaded CS5.5 and installed it completely. Never used Acrobat Pro though. Today I would like to but. Adobe Application Manager opens and asks to type the serialnumber. As I copied it from my LWS account and pasted it, the manager says it is not valid for this product? How can this be? What can I do? Anybody an idea? Thanks, AxelError "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Creative Suite

Adobe Acrobat Pro XI trial install failure
I have tried several times to install the trial of Acrobat Pro XI. Each time, after the Download Assistant downloads the Installer, I run the installer, and receive two error messages.
First: "The installation cannot proceed, because some of the processes are running."
After clicking "OK", the window beneath reveals this error message:
So, as advised, I am contacting the software manufacturer for assistance. Odd that Adobe is not even aware that the "software manufacturer" is Adobe, don't you think?
Also, I can't read the entire first line of the last error message. "There were errors in the installation. You may want to try i…" is all that's there.
My details:
Mac OS X 10.9.5
MacBookPro 13" 2014
I just wanted to see if the latest version of Acrobat improves on the resolution problems associated with reading PDFs with the high-resolution Retina display. Acrobat Pro X displays all text quite choppy, even if I set the preferences to use System Settings.
Any ideas how I can complete the installation?
CPNo. This is interesting, but not helpful.
The link seems to discuss problems with the Download Assistant itself. Strange, too, that all the links to "helpful" information are concerned with the Creative Suite. This is confusing.
My problem is with the installation of Acrobat Pro XI. All the steps complete, except for the final moments of the installation. There is no information regarding the error message I am seeing.
Adobe's "Help" website is legendary for its poor navigability. I just end up going in circles.
