Acrobat Pro upgrade path 9.0.0 to 9.4.6 on MacOS

I've already googled adobe cumulative update, etc, but all I can find are the incremental updates.
I work in a small company and have been tasked with updating all our Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 users to 9.4.6.
So far the only way I've found to do this is to download all 17 patches (9.1 > 9.1.1 > 9.1.2 > 9.1.3 > 9.2.0 > 9.3.0 > 9.3.1 > 9.3.2 > 9.3.3 > 9.3.4 > 9.4.0 > 9.4.1 > 9.4.2 > 9.4.3 > 9.4.4 > 9.4.5 > 9.4.6) and install them one at a time...
There has got to be a better way to do this.
I've seen on the Windows forum that they can slipstream the patches, but I haven't found anywhere to do this on MacOS.
Our company only has a T1 line and it would take forever to run the updater from within Acrobat.
Please can someone help me in the right direction, I am going to pull my hair out if I have to manually install all these patches on 20 computers!
Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Couple of other issues (other than the inablity to open the preferences as described in other discussions, please fix this first!!!)

  • How can I use Acrobat Pro XI upgrade when I have a previous version on a different computer?

I just bought an upgreade of Acrobat Pro XI and installed it on my laptop. I own Pro X on my  desktop but when I try to open XI it asks for a serial number of a for a previous version on the laptop. The previous version is on a desktop. What can I do?
    Thanks.
    Garrett65

You just need to enter the Serial number of the Acrobat X to authenticate the upgrade.
There is no need to actually have the previous version installed on the computer.

I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro running OSX6.8 and cannot upgrade. I have a subscription to Adobe CC but none of these work on this so I was on with Adobe for 5 hours trying to install and launch Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Muse, and Acrobat Pro from CS6. Well, InDesign is the only one that works and I have a ton of work due! I don't have a serial number for Photoshop or Illustrator except for CS3, and they don't work. InDesign gave me no problems. Illustrator says it can't work on this machine. Photoshop needs a serial number. I'm stumped and getting anxious and freaked out. Can anyone help? Adobe Chat is down right now.

  • .PS file generating a blank PDF after upgrade from Acrobat Pro 7 to 9

    Hi All,
I've searched for this in vain so I'm comming to you now in desperation. My boss has tasked me with tracking down this error and I have to be honest, I'm a little bit green with Acrobat Pro. So coming into the situation I know this. My department used to use a .ps file to build a publication into a PDF from other .ps files. We operate on a network share (the P: drive) on Windows XP SP3 machines with the latest updates.
In Acrobat Pro 7 we could double click the  .ps file which executed the below code through Adobe Distiller and a  finished PFD of the same file name would be output to the host  directory. But now, after upgrading to Adobe Acrobat 9, this process  only produces a PDF with all of the appropriate bookmarks and none of the content.

    An observation -
It looks like you are dealing with files that reflect someone's work with the pdfmark Reference (associated with Distiller).
As with Acrobat Security, JavaScript and the Acrobat SDK the 'how-to' from these all undergo changes with each new Acrobat release.
I suspect that the coding, while adequate for back when Acrobat 7 was new on the street, may have to be updated to comply with what the Distiller provided with Acrobat 9 supports.
Use the link for pdfmark Reference
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/wwdistiller.html
The Acrobat Developer Center ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat.html ) provides a hub to the myriad of "under-the-hood" aspects of Acrobat.
    Be well...

  • When upgrading from Abobe Acrobat Pro 9 to XI, is it possible to save Headers and Footers in documents?

I support a law firm that users headers and footers in their documents.  They are upgrading from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to XI.  when they did an install on one PC, the headers and footers in a PDF did not show and had to be recreated.  Is there a way around that?  I's appreciate any input.
    Thanks!
    Ed

This is a work around. Bring the pdf into Illustrator. Go to Select >Object>Text.  In the attributes panel, deselect Overprint. In the Transparency panel, select Knockout Group. In the Appearance panel, check to make sure the black is not overprinting by clicking on the Character entry. If not, try clicking "Clear Appearance" (here I got a little lost.
Resave the pdf file. Your black text should now knock out. You may have to retrap, unless your RIP does that for you.
Hope this helps. (I had to keep trying to get it to work, but I finally did.

  • How to remove file path location listings from photos and objects in Acrobat Pro 9.0 PDF?

After converting a windows-based Powerpoint 2007 presentation to an Acrobat Pro 9.0 PDF, the file path location of all photos and objects are shown in a dialogue box when the cursor is moved over the image as seen in this screenshot below. How can I stop this from happening and remove this feature on my pdf documents?

I saw that referenced on a forum, but it does not seem to address the issue I am having.
As per Adobe Acrobat X Standard * What’s new, the equivalent to the "Tools > Protection > Remove Hidden Information" utility found in Acrobat X Standard is the same as the "Document > Examine Document" feature in Acrobat Pro 9.0. Those tools seem to cover meta data, book marks, hidden text, and deleted or cropped content, but not the file path listings that appear on images and objects converted from Powerpoint presentations and other MS Office programs.
I have reviewed the settings used while creating a pdf, and have also tried the “Advanced > Preflight tool”, but could not find anything to apply to the issue at hand.
Thus, this issue has not been resolved, but seems like it should be an easy fix that anyone who publishes pdf documents would want to use to publish clean, professional documents without anyone seeing the file path location of every object and image shown in the document on their hard drive.

Download AA 9 Pro from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html. Make a new backup for your archive. You might also take the DVD to your library to see if it is a drive problem. You might also carefully clean the DVD with water and soap (do not use anything that would scratch the surface or you have destroyed it for sure) and see if that solves the problem. This is particularly an issue if you have finger prints or other crud on the DVD. However, it could also be a bad drive as I mentioned. Hopefully the download solves your problem in any case (I would backup the download to CD and/or backup HD).

  • I have Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 9.0.  I would like upgrade to v. 11

I'd like to upgrade from Adobe Acrobat Pro v. 9  to Acrobat Pro v. 11.  via uninstalling  v. 9.0 and installing v. 11.   The reason is that I'm having problems opening PDF files on my PC.

Acrobat XI Pro does not work as well as previous versions. For example, using "Combine Files into PDF" function, Acrobat will not work if one or more of your WORD docs has a text layer (such as in a WORD template to produce a letterhead).  The text layer will not print to PDF, although this function works fine in previous versions.  It will convert your WORD docs to PDF, but if any WORD doc has a text layer, it will not be converted.  It will show up as a blank space.  I have a letterhead text layer that has my work credentials.  It does not show up on the converted PDF, using the bundle (Combine Files into PDF) function.  Tech Supports workaround for this is to first create a PDF from the WORD page that has a text layer by first clicking on Acrobat, at the top of the monitor page, then clicking on Create PDF.  Save the PDF, which will have the printed text layer.  Then go to Combine Files into PDF and include that already created PDF page in the bundle.  That will work, but it's another step you have to go through to create your bundle, i.e., your work flow is interrupted by having to accomplish the workaround (documented in Adobe Case No. 0185444461).  Acrobat Pro 9 extended did not need this workaround - nor did previous versions.  Tech Supports comment was that Adobe changed a lot of things - in this case, not for the good.

I edit proofs in Adobe Acrobat Pro v6.0. The proofs are created in a more recent version and I'm encountering more and more problems with saving comments. I obvioulsy need to upgrade to a newer version. Will I have to buy a complete new program?

Yes, the earliest version from which you can upgrade to X is 7.

Reinstall it.  If you don't have an install disk, download the trial from http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html and use your serial number to activate it.  Follow the Very Important Instructions on that page before proceeding to the download.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.0 to 9.3.1 update path needed

I have called Tech Support.  I thought this was a brainless question to ask and figured the tech would ramble out the answer like he's probably done 100 times today. But no.  I guess I stumped him because the best he could do was point me to a CS4 Manual installation document for me to try to figure this out.
Question:  I have Acrobat Pro 9.0 on all my user's desktops.  I want to update them to 9.3.1 to respond to a recent security threat put out by Adobe.  The Downloads\Updates site for 9.0 only shows PDF Templates.  No updates so I figure if I download AcrobatUpd931_all_incr then it will fix my problem.  Apparently not because it's incremental.
Can someone tell me what path I must navigate to get my users up to 9.3.1?  ie:  9.0 + 9.1 + 9.2 + 9.3.1 etc...
Thanks for any help in advance.

I just did a 9.0.0 install from my ESD and then yes, you have to install 9.1, then 9.1.2, then 9.1.3, 9.2, 9.3, then finally 9.3.1.  They are all dependent on the previous version.  I'm working on an admin install for new installs, but for existing...  I was able to make a batch file to chain them all together.
    @echo off
    echo Installing 9.1 ...
    msiexec /p AcroProStdUpd910_T1T2_incr.msp /qn
    echo Installing 9.1.2 ...
    msiexec  /p AcrobatUpd912_all_incr.msp /qn
    echo Installing 9.1.3 ...
    msiexec  /p AcrobatUpd913_all_incr.msp /qn
    echo Installing 9.2 ...
    msiexec  /p AcrobatUpd920_all_incr.msp /qn
    echo Installing 9.3 ...
    msiexec  /p AcrobatUpd930_all_incr.msp /qn
    echo Installing 9.3.1 ...
    msiexec  /p AcrobatUpd931_all_incr.msp /qn
Echos are there for my troubleshooting.  Even without them, t's not *totally* silent, but it does work.  Download all the patches to a folder and run the batch file or push with your deployment system.

  • Will an Adobe Acrobat XI Pro Upgrade license work to upgrade an Adobe Acrobat XI Standard installation?

The buying guide for the XI Pro Upgrade (here - Buying guide | Adobe Acrobat XI Pro) does not list Adobe XI Standard in the left hand column... but I currently have XI Standard and want to to go XI Pro, will this work?

    Hi Mike ,
There is no such policy to upgrade license from Acrobat XI Standard to Acrobat XI Pro.
If you have the subscription for the Standard version ,you need to get that cancelled and get a new subscription for Acrobat Pro.
If you have the retail version or if you have purchased the software ,you can return that and get a new retail version for Acrobat XI Pro.
For more information ,please contact the technical support.
