Acrobat Pro v 8.1.2 Install Problem

When attempting to install Acro Pro v 8.1.2 on Win XP SP3 system, the installation gets about 2/3 done and I get an error message Warning 20225 Setup was unable to create a new item; Adobe PDF. Just before that a message about Distiller not being found came up. The application installs, but does not run. I've had this happen now on two different systems with two different disks, plus the original adobe disk. Any help Greatly appreciated!
Ken

Anti-Virus often causes problems with installation. You don't have to uninstall it, just disable it for the installation. Most Anti-Virus programs have the disable feature for this purpose. Some have a timer that turns the AV back on after a period of time.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro serial number will not install or register

I just purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and tried to install it on my computer.  I entered the serial number and registered it.  However, every time i open the program, it warns me that my 30 day trial will expire in 0 days.  I click on "license this software" and enter the serial number again, and register it again.  It works for one instance of use, then the insanity begins all over, and the trial expiration message pops up next time i open the program.
I have tried uninstalling the software, then running the adobe cleaning tool, restarting the computer, then installing the software again.  This did not solve the problem.
It is nearly impossible to talk to a human being at Adobe customer support.
    Can anyone help me?

  • Unable to open Adobe Acrobat Pro after CS4 Design Premium install

I recently purchased Adobe CS4 Design Premium. I attempted to install it Sunday, and it completed with an indication of success. I then tried to open all my applications to make sure everything went well, and Acrobat keeps coming up with the following error: "You can't open the application Adobe Acrobat Pro because it may be damaged or incomplete." I tried to remove it with the uninstaller, and it does not see it. I have tried to install it multiple times. I even swapped out the DVD drive to see if it was having problems reading the disc, but nothing has helped. I even tried to delete it entirely. I currently have a web case open, but they state that can take up to 3 days to be answered. I tried to call technical support, but gave up after an hour on hold. I suspect a bad disc, but I really don't want to have to wait a week or more to get the issue resolved through sending endless emails back and forth with a web case. I was hoping someone would have a good answer to my problem that would not require that. I am trying to install it on a fairly plain OS 10.6.2 system. It is a 2009 Mac Pro Quad with 6GB of RAM. As stated, so far none of the other applications are giving me any issue. It has just been Acrobat Pro.
    Thanks.

I ended up finding the probable solution to this problem. I downloaded the trial version of CS4 Design Premium. Seeing that I had already installed CS4, it asked what application I wanted to reinstall. I reinstalled Acrobat. When I opened it the first time, it told me that the licensing server could not be reached. I opened Photoshop, then it again. It has worked fine since then. I have updated it to 9.3.1, so it should be good from here on out.

  • Can I have Acrobat Pro 8 and Reader 9 installed at the same time?

At one time I had installed the trial version of Acrobat Pro 9 but it expired and I had a heck of a time getting it off my system and reinstalling version 8. I've got that all taken care of now but I would like to be able to run Acrobat Reader 9.
Can I install Reader 9 over (or in addition to) version 8 or will things blow up? After all the pain and suffering of getting it whipped back into shape, I don't want to try unless I know that it's possible without causing problems.
    Please advise. Thank you!
    Jo

Thanks for your help. I guess I was afraid of what the answer would be. I'll just have to bite the bullet and hope for the best. If it doesn't work well, I just hope it's not a bugger to undo.
And one of these days I'll just have to upgrade the whole lot!

  • Acrobat Pro 8, 9 and X installed. Can I uninstall 8 and 9?

I migrated my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro in January (OS X 10.7.4).  I now have 3 versions of Acrobat Pro on my Mac, Pro 8, Pro 9 and Pro X.  Can I uninstall 8 and 9 without having to re-install X?

    Hi Robin,
As Bill said, you should be able to uninstall Acro 8 & Acro 9 without having to reinstall AcroX.  Each of the versions is fairly well isolated from each other on the Mac.
Let us know if you have any trouble!

  • Acrobat Pro 7.0 does not install on Windows 7, how can I get a version that does?

I recently downloaded and tried installing the non-activation version of Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0 on my Windows 7 PC.  After researching the installation error I read some posts that Acrobat 7.0 does not install on Windows 7.  What are my options?

AA 7 will install, but it will not run very cleanly. A lot of things require workarounds. However, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to AA XI for use on Win7 or Win8. AA 7 is not fully compatible and playing with workarounds is not a great use model. Looks like the price just came down also. You will have to purchase the full version. The upgrade version requires at least AA 9.

  • Acrobat Pro X "quits unexpectedly" after installing CS6

Hello. I just installed CS6 and all applications are working except for Acrobat Pro X. I have already tried and retried the deactiviation/reactiviation fix that everyone is recommending, have rebooted, have reinstalled the entire Suite, and various other attempts that DID NOT WORK in my case. I use this software for my livelihood and am losing income due to this issue. It needs to be resolved immediately. I was previously running CS4, and trashed a recommended list of items to remove that version from my machine, and now I'm thinking that a required file may have been deleted accidentally during that process. I do have a backup of my entire machine, so still have those deleted files . . . can a list of files that should exist in various locations be provided so that I can try restoring them in case this is the issue? Please help. (Mac OS X 10.6.8)

This suggestion worked! It took awhile to uninstall CS6, restart, run the Cleaner Tool, restart, reinstall CS6, but Acrobat Pro X is now working. THANK YOU so much for the super speedy response and excellent suggestion. You're a lifesaver, much appreciated.

  • Acrobat Pro X 1603 error on install

Win XP SP3. I tried to update Adobe Acrobat Pro X. Update almost completes then backs out. Tried repair with add/remove programs and same thing happens. Last week I tried to do this and was led to a web page to download and install the update manually. Cannot find that web page again, but the error shown was 1603. When I click start/programs/adobe, instead of coming up it tries to do an install, but if I click acrobat.exe in program files it comes up OK. I could uninstall, then reinstall, but that would involve other people and from my experience with this error would not help. Doing a repair through add/remove programs is the same thing. Thanks

    Hi,
Possibly you don't have the admin rights or license number is invalid.
you can copy the license to abcpy.ini
    then use msiexec

  • Acrobat Pro 9.4 won't install

I've got a user on a Mac Book Pro with 10.5.8 who uses Acrobat Pro 9.3.4 and it is trying to update itself to 9.4.0 He is getting this error:
""AcroProUPd934_all Update Failed: The Patch has failed because the application has been modified since it was originally installed"
    ANY IDEAS?
    Larry

    Hi Larry...
Another place to get help is Adobe.
Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - Support
You might try deleting the preference file that is associated with the software.
Open a Finder window. In this case you would select the user account (or Home folder) then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Delete any .plist files related to Adobe Acrobat, just move them to the Trash. They will be regenerated the next time Adobe Acrobat is launched.

  • Acrobat Pro X says it is installed

    Hello there,
I am currently a subcriber for the cs6 softward, therefor I have access to all the collection. I had downloaded and installed Acrobat X pro, but then uninstalled it because of some issues. I would like to re-install Acrobat Pro X but in the Adobe Application Manager, it is saying that is is installed (see screenshot) I have gone through the uninstall process successfully and have searhed and removed any remaining bits, but it still says it is installed.
    Thanks,
    Adam

Donwload and Run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool  and choose to remove Acrobat and then try the same thing.

  • Retrieving Acrobat Pro 9 Serial Number before installing Windows 7

    Hi everyone,
I need to format the hard drive to install Windows 7 on a computer running Windows XP x64 and the user is not able to find it nor to tell me if it is a boxed version or a downloaded version possibly bought from the University Campus bookstore.
Is the following procedure reliable or not (Could an Adobe Support Consultant confirm) :
    1. Open the registry editor
    2. If 32 bit OS : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\9.0\Registration\SERIAL
       If 64 bit OS : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\9.0\Registration\SERIAL
    3. Write down the number
    4. The only way to do this convertion you have to install same version of adobe on the computer with a valid serial number. Do no activate it
    5. After that go to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\9.0\Registration\SERIAL
    6. Replace with the number you get from step 3
    7. Open Adobe Acrobat
    8. Help > Activation > By Phone
    10. The software will now show your own retail serial from your old installation

    Downloadable installation files available:
    Suites and Programs:  CC 2014 | CC | CS6 | CS5.5 | CS5 | CS4, CS4 Web Standard | CS3

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.
