Acrobat Pro XI File Save Issues

Each time I attempt to create a PDF from within Word 2003 using the Acrobat Pro XI toolbar icon, Acrobat asks me to name the file (something I'm used to), and then after going through some "printing," it asks me for a"Save As" file name (inserting an Acrxxxx, for instance: Acr74C4). If I keep clicking OK, the program eventually generates the correctly named PDF file. At times, I'm asked to "Save As" more than once.
I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit, and Office 2003. (All of my software and drivers are up-to-date.)

The messaging is indicating that you purchased an upgrade version of Acrobat and it is trying to find the earlier version that qualifies you to install and activate the upgrade.  You should have the option of entering the serial number for the previous version instead of actually having it installed.
You should be able to tell if you purchased an upgrade based on the price you paid... check the product page.  If you did not intend to purchase an upgrade version then you should get that resolved thru Adobe Support directly by chat or phone.

  • I can't create PDFs from CS3 programs in Acrobat Pro XI. Compatibility issue or just Acrobat?

I was just upgraded to Acrobat Pro XI this morning. InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator don't seem to be supported file types for creating a PDF from Acrobat.  While I usually create my PDFs from the authoring program, I occasionally need to make a lot of PDFs of different files at once, and making them from Acrobat makes sense instead of opening each individual file.
Is this just a compatibility issue? We have requested upgrades to CS6, but it will be a while before it gets approved (if it gets approved).  Did someone think it was a brilliant idea not to allow PDFs from the CS products to be created from Acrobat instead of the authoring program?

Can you describe your workflow a little more? Are you saying that you created PDFs of InDesign documents using Acrobat directly -- not using InDesign?
If that was possible in CS3, I must have missed it.
FWIW, I can't select CS6 InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop documents in Acrobat X. You can only select a handful of image formats, HTML or PostScript/EPS.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended File Type Support

Is there a list of file types that Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended supports. Looking specifically for cad stuff like microstation, autocad and esri files.
    Thanks

    Thanks AbhigyanModi!
What I would like to do with acrobat pro extended 9 is for instance to convert a two-column glossary into Excel keeping the table format. Not sure if using English version will affect the text in the Swedish translation column or not. I've used Acrobat (Swedish version) to a minor extent at work so I'm familiar with some of its benefits, such as the "Copy as table" function.
I think ibuying this software straight from retail is quite pricey for my needs and that's why I considered buying a used English version of Acrobat Pro extended. But I'm not sure it's worth buying an English version if it will limit the useability for my needs.
    Cheers!

  • Acrobat Pro 9 file size increases 10x

When I edit a pdf file in Acrobat Pro 9, even the smallest edit like the date, my document size increases by 10 fold.  Another user, on the same version, makes the same edit and it does not change much at all.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled 3 times, tried Reduce File Size and many other things but nothing seems to work.  Has anyone else experienced this same thing and found a resolution?

That is my bad...I must have been in a hurry trying to beat the snow storm and misposted.  How can I move or delete and get this in the correct forum?
    Thanks

  • Acrobat Pro X: File Open closes down program

Just installed my licensed copy of Acrobat Pro X on Windows 7-  64 BIT with lots of RAM & a great processor; I am a retired computer science teacher so am no novice. When I try to open any local  a PDF on my hard drive by navigating within Acrobat Pro X: "Choose File > Open" the Acrobat program immediately just closes down every time (no messages, no warning, nothing). Yet the program is working fine when I open any PDF from OUTSIDE the program say an email or Windows Explorer. Same program closing occurs when I try to open a local PDF using the Splash Screen. Everything also works fine when I open a recent document from the Splash Screen..It's only the "OPEN" button both on the File Menu and the Splash Screen that "crashes" Acrobat Pro X....so peculiar & annoying...This is most disconcerting and I cannot find this problem for anyone else searching on Google. Can anyone get tot he bottom of this and help please?

You are not the only one this happens to. I hope we can get an answer soon!

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro X and Mac issues

I am running Adobe Acrobat X Pro on Lion and when I go to scan from PDF, my HP Deskjet 3052 A scanner isn't showing up in the drop down menu.  I also have Acrobat Pro X for Windows on my machine (VMWare) and it works fine, but it won't work with the Mac version.  I have called Adobe and HP and neither have been able to help me.  I bought this program with this feature in mind, and I am sick of having to toggle back to Windows to scan, as it eats up a lot of my processing power.  I have downloaded the SANE and TWAIN drivers (or so I thought I did) with no luck.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Adobe acrobat pro extended 9 language issues

    Hi!
Is there any conflicts/obstacles that may arise using an English version of this software for documents or purposes in other languages or does it support other languages?
If not, is there any way that I can convert an English language version of Adobe Acrobat Pro extended 9 to Swedish language?
The reason I ask is that I'm considering buying a used copy of Acrobat pro extended 9, but before doing so I need to know if I would be better off buying a dedicated Swedish version of this software.
    Thanks in advance

  • Acrobat Pro 9.4.7 issue

Acrobat problem: Am creating a 6 layer document w/ multiple 'hotspots' per layer. Many of the hotspots are in the same location on the previous layers. When I add more data I keep activating spots on subsequent layers. This is making it impossible to build. How do I 'deactivate' all other layers layers so I can continue? This is becomming spagetti.
    Help.
    Thank You

I guess someone will suggest I do this anyway and see if it resolves the problem, before looking at the registry.  :-)
Mostly you will get the suggestion to remove one or the other from your system and repair or reinstall the remaining application. It is not a recommended or supported configuration having both.
Another suggestion is to reinstall Acrobat Pro. That works for about 4 out of 10 people.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Serial Number Issues

I just bought and downloaded Acrobat Pro XI.  However, when I try to launch the product I get an error that says "Serial Number you provided is valid, but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer".   What the heck is this and how do I fix this?  Of course, you can't actually get in touch with Adobe to get this resolved.  This has been the most frustrating and idiotic download I have ever encountered.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 Save As Issue

    Hello,
We recently updated Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 and it's doing something that it didn't do before and we need to get rid of the option.
    Before:
    We'd click on Create PDF
    Click From Scanner...
Comes up with a dialog box that's titled "Create PDF From Scanner"
    Then we click scan.
Another window comes up at this point that lets you select all your settings and what not.
Then finally you hit scan in this screen and it scans the document
    Now:
    Still click on Create PDF
    Click From Scanner...
Comes up with a simliar dialog box that's titled "Create PDF From Scanner"
    Then we click scan.
AND NOW...it prompts you to save the document to a destination i.e. My Documents or Desktop. You can't bypass this and it forces us to save it before we can proceed.
Does anyone know how to get rid of that prompt? We don't save our documents to the local computer at all. We create the PDF and then use an extension and load the scanned PDF directly out into our record management software. This will confuse our users. We need a way to get rid of that option. Something simple? Or adjust something in the registry? Anyone?

    Try updating to AA8.1.2

  • Shared Review: Acrobat Pro 9; Reader 8 issues

    Hi,
I've been experimenting with the Shared Review features on Acrobat 9 Pro, and we've run into some slightly odd behaivour.
I created a PDF file, sent it for a shared review, and waited for the comments.
All three reviewers started with Reader 8, received the link, and opened the file easily enough. They each received a warning telling them that they needed Reader 9 or higher to comment on the document, but the document then opened, displayed the commenting tools and the "Publish Comment/Check for new comments" buttons.
Naturally enough, they all began commenting away anyway, assuming that it would probably be OK, and all published their comments to the server.
I went online to check for new comments, and found none.
We went round and upgraded to Reader 9, assuming that that was the issue. Once the upgrade had installed, they opened their previous PDF files (with quite a few comments on) and connected to the server.
At this point, all their previous comments were deleted, rather than being transferred to the server! This is really quite worrying - surely if this behaviour will occur (all comments deleted on upgrade), then a user should not be allowed to comment at all before upgrading. Is there a workaround? Are the comments still found on the old copy of the document, and are merely just hidden?
I'd certainly be worried that, were I to send out a document for review to a group of less technically-minded reviewers, we could easily end up with a situation where we'd lose days of work due to them assuming that they could get away with this old version, as all the buttons seemed to be there.
Anyone else had this problem, or suggestions of ways to work around it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

It was on Acrobat.com, so we did know that the reviewers needed Acrobat 9.x - but they were lulled into a false sense of security that it might just work anyway, since the commenting tools and so on appeared.
    Basically the process went:
Reviewer click on link, signs into Acrobat.com and downloads a copy of the file to their local drive.
Reviewer opens the local copy of the file, and is warned that they need Reader 9.x, but decide to give it a go regardless.
Reviewer makes comments on the pdf, hits "Publish Comments", and nothing much happens - I check on the file, and no comments have been transferred to the server.
At this point we decide to upgrade to Reader 9, so the reviewer saves and closes the local version of the file, and downloads & installs Reader 9.3.
We open up the local copy of the file (that previously had the comments on) and, when prompted, sign into Acrobat.com.
We check through the document, looking at the comments - any comments that had been made by other reviewers that were already on the server file are present, but all of the comments that had been made on the local file were deleted, and there appeared to be no way of recovering them.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • Acrobat Pro 9 pdf Printer issue

Hello!  Hope everyone is having a great day!
I have a small issue with the 9.0 printer.  It is part of my print cue, can print to it, the print dialogue says that the job is completed, but the file never shows up.
I am running a MacBook with OSX 10.5.8 and have Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.1.3.
Any ideas would be helpful.  My apologies if I did not provide enough information to do so!  Cheers.
    Jeremy

If you have X.5.8.  look here:
I've blacked out my computer identity. This is based on on my OSX.4.11 Setup.
In reading up on Snow Leopard I 've read in MacWorld and what was Mac Addict that lots of things have been changed moved around or renamed in Snow Leopard. So Your milage may vary.
As for Getting back the PDF Printer in Snow Leopard. Because of the new Security system in Snow Leopard, as  the saying goes it ain't going to happen.
