Acrobat Pro XI ohne LiveCycle Designer? Was mit bestehenden Formularen machen?

Hallo :-)

I have downloaded a trail version of adobe acrobat pro and when I try to use it, it says that it cannot be edited in acrobat, please use adobe livecycle designer to edit this form. I can't work out what I need to do?

Acrobat XI is not distributed with Designer. Designer is now a separate product. You can create forms in Acrobat as an AcroForm or using Forms Central (an online forms program). You can print the form to a new PDF and then recreate the fields in Acrobat using the recognize form fields. You will likely have to fix the form fields, but that would be the process. Generally, once a form is taken to Designer, you can't bring it back without such steps.
Designer is available with AA8 - AAX, but since is a separate product as I indicated.

  • Cannot Edit a Form in Adobe Acrobat Pro Xi - use Livecycle

    Hi all,
I was advised to buy Adobe Pro XI yesterday by the Direct Sales Adobe team because it includes "everything I need" to create and EDIT PDF forms.  I actually rang up to buy X but was told it was now XI.
I tried to edit a form today and got this message:
"this form cannot be edited in Acrobat. Please use Adobe Livecycle Designer to edit this form"
I was told this was included in Pro but can't get past this message.  I previously had a trial of Adobe Pro X and WAS able to edit this very form.
It is very frustrating.  I cannot edit anything I have been working on.
FormsCentral seems too basic as I need to be able to edit the field name in the properties of the field.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    David

We created forms in acrobat 9 pro and now with XI pro cannot edit them.  Error message states that livecycle designer is required to edit forms previously created in acrobat.  Called tech support and waited for over an hour before being told that another product needed to be purchased for $300 more than the upgrade cost for acrobat pro XI!!!  From the XI FAQ - The web site states:
The following customers are eligible for a free upgrade:
Customers who purchased a prior license to Acrobat and have purchased an upgrade to Acrobat XI Pro
Customers who have an Adobe Maintenance and Support contract or purchased Upgrade Plan eligible for an Acrobat XI Pro upgrade
Active Creative Cloud Complete members whose memberships started before October 15, 2012
The one-time LiveCycle Designer upgrade is available in English, French, German, or Japanese. Eligible customers can choose which language they would like to receive. Visit the Customer Support Portal to request an upgrade.
After entering in the needed info on the support portal was told that adobe will Not honor the sales rep & web site which both said we are eligible for the free upgrade.  We asked for a full refund and will not longer be using any new adobe products.  We went back to 9 pro forms work fine and adobe lost $.  Nice work adobe - lie to customers and then act surprised that the customers want their $ back!  They told us to just toss their software DVD in the trash where IT belongs, so we did!
    Cheers,

  • Editing Form Fields inside Acrobat? (after using LiveCycle Designer)

Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended ==  Acrobat
LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 == LiveCycle Designer
    =========================================
Say I downloaded a new PDF from the interwebs.
I want to add some forms fields so I go to Forms ==> Add or Edit Fields... (inside Acrobat)
Now Acrobat will detect possible places where to add the form fields. I make changes etc. Then I am  satisfied with my form fields.
Now say I want to remove a particular object from the PDF, lets take an image as an example.
So I fire up  LiveCycle Designer; File ==> New ==> Import a PDF document ==>  Create an Interactive Form with a Flowable Layout.
I remove that pesky little object.
In LiveCycle Designer, I save the file as PDF.
I open up Acrobat. I realize I need to make some more changes to some of the Form  Fields.
But now instead of "Add or Edit Fields..." option I get "Edit Form in  Designer..."
I hate the GUI of LiveCycle Designer --- I had rather edit the form  fields from inside Acrobat, as it is easy and fast to change multiple  form fields in a few clicks.

Thank you Niall for the above response; Your response gave me an idea which allowed me to remove that line by zooming in to 200%
You know Acrobat detects Form Fields for you.
But many times it makes mistakes, for example in the screenshot below it made the boxes that came with the PDF as text fields instead of check boxes.
The thing is rather than me delete the (form) fields it detected, and start over by making new check boxes, I will not be able to place my new check box in exact locations as Acrobat has done.
When I imported the fields that Acrobat made into LC (by saving the PDF in Acrobat and then opening it with LC) I get option to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box when I right click the object.
Is there a similar way to change the Object Type from Text Field to Check Box inside Acrobat? Any suggestions?
    ===========
I would really like to do it inside Acrobat because then if I have to make some minor changes to some field properties, all my hard work which I did by filling the fields gets deleted, as I am forced to use LC. The text I add to the fields don't get deleted when I edit the field properties inside Acrobat. I don't know why LC decides to delete all the text which is filled out in the form fields even though the PDF is saved in Acrobat before being imported into LC?
Here is the above PDF file with the text boxes:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?lnn32jm5am5
Again thanks for all your guidance so far.

  • Livecycle designer has stopped working... acrobat cannot start adobe livecycle designer - on a fresh install of acrobat 8

As soon as i try to create a form from pdf, livecycle crashes...
I've tried reinstalling, repairing, everything under the sun, the application just crashes when I open it.
    Tried deleting user/roaming/acrobat/designer, doesn't help...
    using Acrobat Pro 8
help please? after a few hrs on chat with a tech, adobe refuses to support a product we purchased!

    I wrote too soon.
So the form seems to be done and functional.  I just had to click cancel before going to Livecycle.  Then I save it and work on it in Acrobat.  I don't know why Livecycle isn't installed correctly, or honestly, what Livecycle does that Acrobat doesn't.
    Anyway, problem resolved.

  • Comparison of Acrobat Pro X to Livecycle in creating forms

    1) Does Acrobat Pro X provide all of the objects (such as image fields, buttons, etc.) to be used in creating a form that LiveCycle does?
    2) If you create a form in Acrobat Pro X, is it required to use a server, even though the PDF form is meant to be a standalone form?
    3) Thanks.

The main difference in the types of fields available is an XFA form allows an image field and it allows a date field that includes a date picker. Acrobat actually allows you to use a button as an image field. The problem is it doesn't work with Reader, even if you fully Reader-enable the document. Maybe someday they'll restore this capability to Reader since a lot of people have feature requested this.
LiveCycle Designer also includes a large number of 1D bar code fields which are more difficult to implement with an acroform (using a text field), but it's still possible.
Forms created in Acrobat (acroforms) do not require a server and can be standalone forms. They are capable of submitting to a server if needed.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI Freezes On LiveCycle Designer Form

Adobe Acrobat XI randomly freezes when filling out form fields in a specific PDF designed by myself in LiveCycle Designer 11.
The Windows Event Log sometimes records the following:
    Error
    11/8/2013 4:09:00 PM
    Application Error
    1000
    (100)
"Faulting application name: Acrobat.exe, version: 11.0.4.63, time stamp: 0x52288928

    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x98006f09
    Faulting process id: 0x380

    Faulting module path: unknown
    Report Id: fcca7abe-48b9-11e3-b2d4-bc305bfc853b"
This indicates a hard crash, but when I've seen the issue it's the Acrobat window becoming grayed out and unresponsive (in the typical Windows fashion).
The staff member who regularly uses the PDF form indicates he's constantly having to deal with this. I've confirmed the freeze once while shadowing him for the day.
In terms of the PDF itself there's not much special-- four (4) pages filled with a lot of text, drop down and checkboxes, and three buttons that contain short snippets of code that likely never run.
What gives? How does Acrobat crash on such a straightforward PDF?

If this only happens for one users Acrobat you should try to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat.
There is a tool from Adobe Labs that will fix registry issues and other problems that can cause an unexspected app crash.
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
If you see the problem on different machines, it's worth to let someone check your form.

  • Acrobat JS vs. LiveCycle Designer

Up until now, I have only created forms in Acrobat using Javascript, but I'm working on something that requires a client to be able to embed a logo into a PDF. I don't believe there is a way to do that with Javascript, so I'm delving into LiveCycle for the first time. I was able to do a quick test with an image field, and that seemed to do what I want on all platforms I was testing on (I need it to work with Reader), so now I need to learn a bit more to finish the work with the text fields I will be working with (luckily, they will be few). The files I will be working on will be for print only (they are to allow the client to customize an item for a specific site with logo and company name), but I believe they may be sending the file to a print shop for large volume printouts (I don't know if this will have any problems with using the LiveCycle forms).
As this is my first experience with LiveCycle, I thought I'd ask if there is anything I will need to be aware of, and if there is any good references to look for. I will spend some time this weekend looking over the PDFs I have on scripting in LiveCycle, but would be interested in any other information
Also, are there any pros/cons to using Acrobat forms vs Livecycle forms?

Ok, I'm getting started and I have a few questions to start with:
In Acrobat Javascript, I was forced to use Javascript for any calculations that were anything past relatively simple, or for text concatenations. This relied on the user having Javascript Enabled. Can I assume that using FormCalc calculations doesn't have this restriction.
In a calculated text field (user enters Account Name in one field, makes a choice from a dropdown list in another field, and this third display field calculates results based on those choices), is it possible to change the size/style of text in part of the field? (e.g. can I make registration marks superscript?)
Is there control over things like letter spacing/kerning in a text field?
*edit* I searched the Help section for kerning, and it doesn't appear possible from what I see.

  • "acrobat cannot start adobe livecycle designer"

Does anyone have a solution for this? I'm running XP SP1. I've tried a couple of suggestions from these forums, like creating a new form to get into Designer, but every time Designer is supposed to start up, this is the message I get. I uninstalled and reinstalled. Could it simply be a machine problem?

Which version of Acrobat (to the sub version)? The latest AA8 is AA8.1.6. AA9 is at AA9.1.3 I think. If you have not updated, you might try an update. Other than that, I have no clue.

  • "Acrobat does not allow connection to website " error in Acrobat Pro X and LiveCycle

    Hello,
I have a system running Windows XP SP3 that presents a dialog box with the above error when the user clicks on a URL link in a PDF file. When I went in to adjust the Trust Manager setting, they are all greyed out. If I log in as myself to the system, there are no problems. If I login as a local admin, there are no problems. We are not managing this security level in AD, so I am not able to determine why this one user can't use the URL link. Is there a registry key I can edit to modify the Trust Settings for this one user? Adobe Reader is not installed, but LiveCycle is. Both were installed using a CD/DVD.
    Any help appreciated.
    TIA,
    TimKoh

Compare the Security (enhanced) and Trust Manager settings for yourself and the user on the same machine. If they are not identical, make them so. If that doesn't work,
I'm assuming the msg appears in a dialog and not the yellow msg bar.

  • Form created in Acrobat Pro 8 not editable in Acrobat Pro XI

I created several forms in Acrobat Pro 8, using LiveCycle Designer. I upgraded to Acrobat XI a few days ago when I learned it was unstable under Windows 7. I am now finding I cannot edit my existing forms in Acrobat Pro XI because it doesn't include LiveCycle Designer. This has apparently been moved into a separate product that will cost me another $300. Moreover, I can't seem to save my existing forms at Word documents to re-import them into Acrobat XI, so I can re-create the forms from scratch. I suppose I could print and scan them, but that will result in a less legible form.
This loss of functionality and cross-compatibility between versions is disturbing. I feel I have just paid $200 to get less functionality than I had before.
It also appears that the most expedient method for creating new forms in Acrobat XI is to upload them to FormsCentral. I am reluctant to upload these to a third-party server, and resent being required to do so in order to maintain any functionality.
Is this an ill-planned marketing strategy to get people to buy another software package (which isn't happening in my case), or is there some work-around I am not seeing here?

To create a form in Acrobat, you first create a PDF that you will be adding form fields to. Normally yo'd create the source document in a program like InDesign or Word, convert to PDF, and place the form fields where they need to go. Acrobat includes a Form Wizard that can attempt to add fields where it thinks they should go, but I rarely use it, preverring to add the fields manually. To do this, select: Tools > Forms > Edit
and you'll be switched to form editing mode. At the top you'll see the various form field tools that you can use to add fields to the document. This type of form is known as an Acroform, as opposed to an XFA form (static or dynamic) that LiveCycle Designer creates.
Acrobat 11 comes with the FormCentral form creation application that allows yo to create forms that can be used with the FormsCentral service. It allows you to export a form to PDF, which can be further edited in Acrobat. FormsCentral can also work with a PDF form (Acroform) that you create entirely in Acrobat.
I think an Acroform is the more versatile type of the three mentioned since they have the widest support in the PDF viewers that are out there, but which you choose depends on your needs. Each have their advantages.

  • How do I access LiveCycle Designer from my Adobe Acrobat X Pro?

I am unable to access LifeCycle ES2 from my Adobe Acrobat X pro, even though I am supposed to have it as part of the software.  I have tried Forms/Edit forms, and I have looked for it through all the menus.  Several of the helps I have found for other things has me launch LifeCycle and operate from screens that LifeCycle designer provides.
I am using Windows XP professional.
I would appreciate all the help I can get on this.

This worked!   I had to go into the system and launch it from the Designer

There is a terminology issue here.  From Acrobat Pro X you launch Designer
not LiveCycle ES2.  LiveCycle is a server product.
When you install Acrobat you have the option to install or not install
Designer.  Look in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0
and check to see if there is a Designer 9.0 folder.  When in Acrobat you
should be able to create a new form and it will prompt if you want to use
Designer.  If all else fails you can always go into the Designer 9.0
    folder and launch FormDesigner.exe

  • Can I upload forms I created in Acrobat Pro (containing Javascript) add attachment fields to them?

I am developing fillable forms for our company. We have the following requirements.
    1. Develop the forms in Acrobat Pro.
    2. They contain extensive JavaScript, including custom functionality to validate the fields on the form before saving.
    3. The forms must include some way to allow the users to attach files when requested.
    4. Each form will be sent out to multiple recipients.
    5. Recipients may not have Acrobat--only Reader.
I have solved most of the problems, and I'm getting stuck on #3 (because of #5). Short of using LiveCycle Reader Extensions (which I do NOT have), I don't know how to get a Reader-extended fillable PDF to allow attachments. I want to know if FormsCentral allows it. I read the online help and tried a test form, but I don't see how to add an attachment field to it after it's uploaded--it appears to be in a "final" status that can only be sent out to recipients after that.
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Acrobat 8 Professional includes LiveCycle Designer 8, so if the form was created with LiveCycle Designer 8 or older, the yes should have the option to edit the form. Acrobat 8 Professional under the menu option 'Forms' will have an option to open the form in LiveCycle Designer. If the form was created with a newer version, there could be some issues with newer features not available in version 8.
