Acrobat Prof X pdf hebrew doc "save as" excel is backwards

I tried to save a pdf written in hebrew to an excel spreadsheet. The column placement came out corrrectly, but each hebrew word is reversed. I have Mcrosoft Hebrew language fonts and SW installed and can write directly in Hebrew but can't download from pdf to excel (or word). Can you help me? Thanks!!

Acrobat Middle Eastern (ME) is a separate product which supports Arabic and Hebrew scripts. Here's one link I found:

    Hello nmohamm,
    To examine the conversion settings in Acrobat, do the following:
    1. Select Edit > Preferences
    2. In the preferences dialog, select the "Convert From PDF" category.
    3. In the "Converting From PDF" list, select "Excel workbook".
    4. Click the "Edit Settings" button to view your conversion settings.

    HI, Irosenth,
    from the API document, it does say
    saveAs
    5.0
    S
    S
    Saves the file to the device-independent path specified by the required parameter, cPath. The file is not saved optimized for the web. Beginning with Acrobat 6.0, the document can be converted to another file type (other than PDF) and saved as specified by the value of the cConvID parameter.
    Note: This method can only be executed during a batch or console event. See Privileged versus non-privileged context for details. The event object contains a discussion of JavaScript events.
    (Adobe Reader S): This method is available in Adobe Reader for documents that have Save usage rights.
    What does the underlined sentence mean? does it mean it should work on reader as well?

  • Acrobat v9.3.2 Won't Save PDF Files On W7 64 Bit

    I have a dilemma that needs to be solved.  I have a new Windows 7 64 bit system with several terabytes of legal documents stored locally, mostly in PDF.  After loading Adobe Acrobat Standard v9.3.2 I find that while I can open PDF documents, I can only save edits/highlights/comments only once.  However on all subsequent edits and save attempts Adobe delivers the message:
    "The document could not be saved.  The file may be read-only, or another user may have it open.  Please save the document with a different name or in a different folder".  I no for a fact that the file is not open elsewhere and if I view the security properties of the file it does not show as read-only.  If I save the document with a new file name it behaves correctly just once, then begins delivering the same error message as the original PDF on all subsequent saves.
    In addition to the built-in Windows accounts there is only one user account on the W7 system, it has password protection and administrative privileges.  The PDF files that cannot be saved are all owned by this account and the account presumably has "full privileges".  Further, the PDF documents themsvelves have "no security" and allow for editing/highlighting/commenting.  It is important to add that many of the same PDF documents I'm trying to edit were easily edited and saved on a previous 32 bit Windows XP Pro system which this sytem replaced.  Moreover, on a seperate 32 bit Windows 7 laptop and the 32 bit Adobe Acrobat Standard v9.3.2. these same PDF files stored on a network drive have no difficulty performing all the edit and save functions.  However, if a sample PDF document stored on the local drive of the 64 bit W7 system is shared and accessed directly by the 32 bit W7 laptop system, the laptop/Adobe Standard will deliver the same error trying to editing and save the image stored on the 64 bit Windows 7 system.
    I have tried running Acrobat on the 64 bit W7 desktop as "administrator" but the problem persisted.
    My Acrobat Standard indicates there are no updates available.
    I've pretty much exhausted everything I know to look for and I am stuck.
    I hope someone can offer some insight to this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandy

    I believe I may have found the problem and potential fix or workaround for the problem described in my original post.
    Windows 7 has a feature in Windows Explorer that will if enabled show a file preview image in the rightmost pane when a file is selected or moused-over.  If one selects an Abobe PDF document to launch Adobe Acrobat will launch in a seperate window while the Windows Explorer pane will show a thumbnail sized image of the first page of the PDF document in the Windows Explorer pane.  The explorer window may even be behind the Acrobat application so once one is looking at the full document in Acrobat they may not even notice the thumbnail image in Windows Explorer.
    On my setup, when this would happen I could edit a PDF document and save the PDF only once, but any further save would fail. Apparently the thumbnail in Windows Explorer is enough to make Acrobat believe the file is already open, or open by another user.
    One workaround is that once Adobe Acrobat is launched explicitly look for and close the Windows Explorer showing the PDF thumbnail.  One might also accomplish the same by moving the mouse over a different file so the thumbnail of the open PDF is not showing, or to turn off the preview function in Windows 7 Explorer altogether.  I haven't yet tried the latter.
    Acrobat is the only application on my W7 Pro system that doesn't play well with Windows preview mode.  My MS Office apps have no difficulty saving even while showing thumbnails in the preview pane.
    I hope this might be helpful to anyone else experiencing this problem.

    Certain pop up windows are not apperaing on my screen.  Save as PDF and Doc preferences never appear, and lock me out until I press return.  So they are active, I just can't see them.  Any ideas?

    They are obviously off the screen somewhere. Did you have a dual monitor set up at one time? You can try increasing the resolution of your screen to see if you can get a part to show or maybe just resrt the preferences (Cmd(Ctrl)+Opt(Alt)+Shift as you restart AI) to reset the defaults.

  • Problem - Konvertieren Office Dok in pdf mit Adobe Acrobat Prof 8 - WTS

    Hallo zusammen,

    A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... then download the base install for Adobe Reader 11.0.
    Then download each of the individual updates and run them sequentially.
    I've installed back up to the last security update which is version 08 and have been able to do normal Save As operations.
    You will have to disable automatic updates in order to stay at version 08 until Adobe resolves this issue in a later release.

  • Why do I have to run a  doc.saveAs() prior to Inserting, Deleteing, or Extracting pages?

    MY SETUP:
    I'm using folder level javascripts.   In Acrobat I have the 'enable menue items javascript execution privledge' enabled,  In my actual folder level scrips I have them wrapped in a trusted function along with app.beginPriv()/app.endPriv().    My PDF's are coming from LiveCycle Designer which I then open and run in Acrobat.
    MY QUESTION:
    Through much trial and error and banging my head on the wall I've found that if I want to use insertPages(), extractPages() or deletePages() called as a trusted fucntion  on its own it won't work unless I first run a saveAs() function to create a new document file and only then can I run the desired function on the new saveAs'd doc.   I simply can't run an insertPages() on the current open doc without a saveAs first().
    Why is that?
    I find that very frusterating and the resulting errors aren't a help.  If I don't SaveAs first I get security error or invalid function errors.
    EXAMPLE:
    Save As Function:
    var LCB_SaveAs = app.trustedFunction(function(doc, filename) {
        app.beginPriv();
        doc.saveAs(filename);
        app.endPriv();
    Insert Page Function:
    var TEST_InsertPage = app.trustedFunction(function(doc, filename) {
        app.beginPriv();
           doc.insertPages ({
               nPage: -1,
               cPath: filename
           app.endPriv();
    Javascript code in document to call the above functions:
    if(typeof(LCB_SaveAs) == "function") {
        if(typeof(TEST_InsertPage) == "function") {
            try {
                TempFileLocation = "/C/PATH/InsertTemp.pdf"
                LCB_SaveAs(event.target, TempFileLocation);
                try {
                    PathOfInsertDoc = "/C/PATH/FileToInsertIntoSaveAs'dDoc.pdf"
                    TEST_InsertPage(event.target, PathOfInsertDoc)
                catch(e) {
                    xfa.host.messageBox(e.toString().replace("RaiseError: ","") , 0, 0);
            catch(e) {
                xfa.host.messageBox(e.toString().replace("RaiseError: ",""), 0, 0);

    Hi George.  Yes I'm using static XFA forms which were created with PDF's as basic 'artwork' in the background and then my custom fields and script tunning on top.
    I've tried running  a function (below) in the console, but did nothing -- maybe a syntack error.  I don't know what that may or may not mean though.  I'm not use to running stuff through the console so I could be doing it wrong.  My console experiance is limited to calling the path where the javascripts folder resides.
    Attempt script in console:
    var MJS_HN_Delete_RevisitForm = app.trustedFunction(function(doc) {
        app.beginPriv();
        doc.deletePages(15, 15);
        app.endPriv();
    and/or this:
    app.trustedFunction(function(doc) {
        app.beginPriv();
        doc.deletePages(15, 15);
        app.endPriv();

  • Doc Save As and Trusted Function

    I have been reading over the forum and the adobe help files regarding this. I think I am close but since I need to get my IT department to assist in placing the js files where they have to go, I thought I might ask the forum if I am on the right track
    I still have to make sure the field values will not include an illegal characters. They wont be empty as the forms will be coming directly from our system -prefilled
    Currently these forms automatically email (although staff still have to hit the actual send button) when staff go to print the document.  The people who get these forms are just finding it a bit hard to keep up with the emails and have asked to just have the files save to a folder so they can look at when they have time
    This is what I have for my trust propagator function.  I assume this is the only js file I will need as it incoporates the trusted function?
    mySaveAs = app.trustPropagatorFunction(function(doc,path)
      app.beginPriv();
       doc.saveAs(path);
      app.endPriv(); })
    myTrustedSpecialTaskFunc = app.trustedFunction(function(doc,path)
      // Privileged and/or non-privileged code above
      app.beginPriv();
       mySaveAs(doc,path);
      app.endPriv();
      // Privileged and/or non-privileged code below });
    I got this code from the Adobe Help
    then I want to have this code in the Document Did Print area
    var name = this.getField("FormValues.accountNames_0").value
    var folio =this.getField("FormValues.folioNumber_0").value
    myTrustedSpecialTaskFunc(this, "/w/Public/AccountOpening/" + name + " " + folio,pdf);
    I have to read where to put the js file as I have seen some comments on the forum that where you place the js file has changed for those with Adobe X and Windows 7
    Would anyone be be able to let me know if I am on the right path before I get IT involved.  I suppose I could test the code on my own laptop to see if it would allow me to save the form.....
    Thank you

    Read this: The Acrobat Ninja: Acrobat 10.1.1 JavaScript changes
    You have to manually create the folders that aren't present, and they must be named correctly.
    It's a good idea to use the valueAsString property instead of the value property to get the field values, since you're using the results as strings. It probably won't make a difference here, but it's a good habit to get into. You also have a typo in that last line of code. It should be:
    myTrustedSpecialTaskFunc(this, "/w/Public/AccountOpening/" + name + " " + folio + ".pdf");
    It would be a good idea to make sure those field value aren't blank if there's a chance that they could be.
    Also, consider using a try/catch block for the doc.saveAs call, and look at the return value so you can give the users a more helpful error message than what the default will be if something goes wrong.
    If you need help with any of this, post again.

  • Quark / PDF Printing Problems (Save as PDF in OS X)

    I upgraded from Quark 4.1 to 6.5 about a year ago, and ever since then the files I create and print don't look as good. The primary issue seems to be color -- colors don't come out as deep, there seems to be less color saturation, sometimes colors are just pretty far off. I'm working in Mac OS 10.4.8.
    For many years my method has been to design documents and output as PDFs to be professionally printed. These days my PDFs don't print as well. I suspect that the problem has to do with the process of creating the PDF. In Quark 6.5 I create PDFs by selecting "Save as PDF" from Quark's Print menu. Back when I was using 4.1, since Quark didn't have a built-in PDF-creator, I would go into the Chooser, select AdobePS as my printer, and then just choose Print in Quark and it would "print" to a PDF.
    One other problem I've had since the upgrade is that the PDFs Quark creates are HUGE files -- tens or hundreds of megs -- often too large to email. When I used to create PDFs from the identical Quark files using 4.1, the resulting PDFs printed much better and were much smaller files (often far less than 1 meg). Solving the color problem is a higher priority for me than solving the file size issue, though.
    I've spent a lot of time trying to troubleshoot this with our local printer here in Albany, NY (the same guy who printed my stuff in the old days, when it came out looking a lot better). Things we've tried that haven't seemed to solve the problem:
    - Increasing the LPI to 300
    - Checking the box for Full Resolution Tiff Output
    - Experimenting with OPI active and not
    - Experimenting with different PDF options like "Save as PDF," "Compress PDF," "PDF-X," etc. (Compress PDF does result in smaller PDFs, but the quality of the resulting prints is even worse)
    Also, if anyone has suggestions about Quark-specific forums I could post this to, let me know. I tried creating an account on the discussion forms on Quark's website, but I don't receive their confirmation email to confirm my account.
    Any advice greatly appreciated -- thanks so much!

    Marshall,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    colin clarke1’s info is spot on. I will add a bit more. Acrobat Professional includes Distiller in addition to a print driver called Adobe PDF 7.0 (version number matches version of Acrobat). I think the print driver installs automatically, but if not, you should choose to install it and then it will show in your list of printers. This will allow you to make PDFs from Quark XPress much as you did with Quark 4.1.
    Distiller comes with some pre-defined Settings (formerly know as Job Options) for different types of printing, i.e., Smallest file (low-resolution like online viewing), Standard, High Quality, Press Quality and others. These Settings are general standards in the industry in terms amount and type of image compression, font embedding, color management, compatibility with previous Acrobat versions and etc.
    colin clarke1’s method of saving a Quark doc as a PostScript and then distilling it is one method. (You can set this in your Quark Preferences.) Alternatively, you could do the following within Quark XPress…
    (a) Select Print, which brings up the Print window. At the bottom of the window are some buttons. Click on Page Setup and in its window, for Format for: select the Adobe PDF 7/8, the appropriate Paper size and then OK.
    (b) Returning to the Quark print window, make all the necessary choices for Layout, Setup, Output, Options, Layers, Bleed, OPI and Profiles.
    (c) Next, click on the button Printer (at the bottom) which brings up a Mac OS print window. Click to the right of Printer and select Adobe PDF 7/8. Next, click and hold on Copies & Pages for a drop-down list of options and select PDF Options. Click on the bar to the right of Adobe PDF Settings and a list of Distiller Settings will pop up and select the one that best fit the type of printing you are doing, e.g., Press Quality. If you want to see the PDF version afterwards, then select Acrobat for After PDF Creation. Click Ok.
    (d) Returning to the Quark print window, click Print button (lower right). A Save window appears for you to name your document and select where you wish to save in on your computer. (If you choose to see the PDF afterwards, then Acobat will launch and the PDF will then appear in Acrobat.)
    You could learn more about the latest version of Acrobat 8.0 (released November 2006) by Adobe’s “tour” at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/productinfo/features/
    Hope this helps.

  • Doc.saveAs() and filenames with commas

    Using Acrobat 9,  I have convinced myself that commas confuse the innards of the doc.saveAs() function. For example, from the console, the following throws an error:
    this.saveAs("john, jimmy.pdf");
    the error: "UnsupportedValueError: Value is unsupported. ===> Parameter cPath."
    I am more than a little stunned. It's been more than 10 years since the major operating systems allowed commas in the path.
    Am I overlooking something trivially obvious?

    Thanks for that link to the "wish forum".
    I have reported failure to accept commas in the path as a bug.
    I'll keep this question open for just a little longer.
    Does anybody know of any tricky escape character sequences that might solve the problem? I have failed with "\," and various ideas for nested quotes.

  • How to merge PDF/Word Doc with the Form I created?

    Hi All,
    Which software should I use to merger PDF/Word Doc with the form I created.
    One more question is I want the form page to show up right next to the ending or in the middle of the word doc . How to manange the placement of the sections?
    Please do let me know, its urgent.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Hari.

    1) The option of creating the whole thing as a LiveCycle form means that you need to convert the Word document using LiveCycle Designer. The import utility won't preserve the fidelity of the Word document the way printing to the PDF print driver does. It will likely require a fair bit of tweaking in Designer to get it looking like you want. You will likely get frustrated, since Designer is not a word processor.
    2) You can create PDF forms in Acrobat without launching LiveCycle Designer. While they look the same to a user as forms created with LiveCycle Designer, behind the scenes they are very different. When you create a form in Acrobat you overlay fields on top of an existing PDF document that you had previously created using the PDF print driver. There is an extensive scripting model for these "Acroforms". The technology pre-dates LiveCycle yet Adobe continues to improve the two forms models in parallel. In Acrobat, open a PDF and select tools-->forms-->show forms toolbar.
    3) I recommend this option if it's feasible. I don't know what you mean by "doesn't show up in a flow". If you're going to use the form in Acrobat 7, then save it as Acrobat 7 compatible in LiveCycle Designer. This is one of the options in the Save As dialog of LiveCycle Designer.
