Acrobat professional 8.1 uninstall

I'm trying to install acrobat pro xi, but the system has acrobat pro 8.1 on it and it can't find the installation folder to remove the old version. To complicate matters, I think the old version license is keeping me from authenticating the new license. I have an acrobat pro xi license provided from our tech support, but the install informs me the license isn't correct. Any suggestions?

I think you are saying you are running AA8.1.0 Pro and that you can not uninstall or repair it. Sometimes, just a simple reinstall over the current version will resolve the issue, though repair should have done the job. For the updates, we generally recommend folks to go to the adobe.com>downloads>updates and select the Acrobat-Windows update. You should find 7 updates for AA8.1.0. In some cases there are 2 updates for a version, including the basic update and a security update. Run the updates in order. Acrobat updates are generally not cummulative.

  • Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional - will not uninstall

I tried to install this program with Windows 7, 64-bit numerous times and it would not work 100%.  I even downloaded the "patch" file for windows 7, but the program would freeze every single time I opened it.  I have since reverted back to just using Adobe reader, but CANNOT uninstall Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.  The uninstall completely freezes about 60-65% of the way through, and I just end up closing it down.  However, I cannot install any new software on my computer because the installer application keeps saying that another program is being installed (Adobe) when in actuallity it is NOT!
Pleeease provide any help as to how I can uninstall this program.  The program is still listed when I got to the control panel and uninstall a program.  I have tried Modify, Repair, & Remove all unsuccessfully.  I have deleted all files from the C: drive except the "Resource" folder, which I keep getting Folder Access Denied and that I "require permission from SYSTEM to make changes to this folder."  Well, I am the administrator and the ONLY user on my computer, so I don't know what that is all about.  I am beyond frustration with this, the microsoft forum told me to check here for assistance.

    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3662
    3. Apply the downloaded 8.1 update manually
    4. Once the manual update is successful launch Acrobat and do Acrobat menu Help ->Check for updates

  • How to uninstall the Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0?

I can't uninstall the Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0 from my computer. It shows saying "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\7.0  Get last Error:5." It also can't be re-installed. How to do it?

If you still want AA7 running, then open Acrobat and use Help>Repair. If you cannot open Acrobat, then in Windows go to Control Panel>Programs & Features, select AA7 and repair. If you do uninstall AA7, it is likely you will not be able to successfully reinstall it without a new download. Check https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.ht ml. If you are to the point you have no choice but to complete the uninstall, then use http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html.

I have tried to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional XI this morning and payment (AED 1983.53) has been taken, I received a message stating there was/is a problem processing my order and that I should contact your customer service team in UAE.  Having tried this, I was met with a recorded message, in Arabic, and no options to speak to anyone.  I have found this process extremely frustrating and poor on your behalf.  Not providing any options to speak to an Adobe representative is equally annoying.  Please get back to me ASAP, as I need to use the product immediately.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back.  So probably won't run on modern operating systems.  If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.

  • Form designing for compatibility between Acrobat Reader 7 and Acrobat Professional

I have designed a Form using LiveCycle Designer 7.0. It contains a few subforms and lot of javascripting. One of the javascript logic I am using is to display a subform when a user clicks a radio button and hide it when the user clicks another radio button. The subform contains Text field, Numeric field, Rectangle, Line, Button. This worked well with Acrobat Reader 7.
After I installed Acrobat Professional 7, my form breaks. I did a quick test to see where it breaks and came out with the following conclusion.
    1. If the subForm contains an Image, Line, Rectangle or Circle control, the subForm rendering throws error (Adobe Acrobat 7.0 has encountered a problem and needs to close) when I click on the radio button to display the subform.
    2. If the subForm contains Text control, it is displayed even if subform is invisible.
    3. If the subForm contains Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown list, List Box, Button, Submit By Email, Submit, Print Form, Reset Form; these controls are never displayed even if subform is visible.
Has anyone encountered a similar issue?

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for the response.
I need some clarification. When you say 7.0.5 version, are you expecting 7.0.5 version of Reader or Professional?
    Here's the steps I followed:
I originally had Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 and Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 and everything worked great.
Now I have uninstalled Designer and Reader and installed
Acrobat Professional Tryout. This installs Acrobat Professional version 7.0.0 and Adobe Designer version 7, 0, 041126, 0 (which is the same as above). Now the same forms which were working earlier are not working as expected.
Please note that I have NOT installed Acrobat Reader 7.0.5. How do I find out what version of Reader does Designer user for PDF preview?
If I separately download Acrobat Reader 7.0.5, how do I tell Designer to use that version for PDF preview?
    Thanks,
    Satish

  • Acrobat Professional hangs when converting word to PDF

I am using Acrobat Professional version 7 and when i use the Convert to PDF option for a large word document it goes through the motions of converting the document but then seems to hang and i get no PDF document created. Also the Word document then says read only in the title as well.
It works fine for small word documents just not large files with pictures.
I have tried uninstalling Acrobat Prof and Office 2003 and re-installing both and it makes no difference.
Can anyone provide any information on what i can try to fix this issue as
    i am out of ideas.
    Thanks
    Lawrence

Empty the TEMP folder or print to the Adobe PDF printer. The latter might be worth trying to be sure things are working.
You may have to uncheck a lot of the options in the PDF Maker preferences, particularly tags. Keep in mind that large graphics require a lot of disk space in the translation as the PS format is not very memory efficient for graphics (at least from what I have seen). You might also make a copy of the DOC file and then select a graphic and choose format. In the lower left corner of the general tab is a compress button. Try that to reduce the graphics resolution and see if that solves the problem.

  • Acrobat Pro 9.0 Uninstall incomplete - MS Word Acrobat options remain

    Hello All,
Currently we are using Acrobat Professional 9.0, installed on a Windows XP machine with MS Office SP3.
The installation of Acrobat Pro 9.0 works error free. The problem I'm seeing is that the uninstall does not appear to be complete. After uninstalling the application thru Control Panel --> Add/Remove, the MS Word option tabs remain in the bar to the right of Help (Adobe PDF and Acrobat Comments).
Is there a way to remove this during the uninstall process? Is this related to a registry key string, possibly HKCurrentUser since it's persistant only on the one profile of a multiple profile machine? If so, what is the string?
    Any information is greatly appreciated!

In MS Office 2007, the Adobe Acrobat stuff is an Add-In. You can remove it by going to Word Options and then Add-Ins and remove the Adobe Add-In.
In other versions of Word it is possibly in another place.

  • Typing in Acrobat Professional

I typed some information into a document using Acrobat Professional, I saved the document and then went back to make changes and cannot.  Any ideas why? I can on other documents that I open, just not this one. I have been having difficulties lately with this program, is it time to upgrade to ver 10?  I was on the line with adobe last week to check the cost of this product, I was on hold for over an hour and finally hung up.

I have 7.1.0 and it worked perfectly up until last week when I had to install an update.  Then my computer kept crashing and kept rebooting. I had to uninstall Adobe 7.0 and reinstall it and then go back for the updates.  I am using the typewriter tool as I do everyday, this particular time, I type, save it and then go back to make changes and cannot (which I can any other time).  Thanks you for any information you can provide.

  • Default documents to Adobe Acrobat Professional

I am running Adobe Acrobat Professional X but each time I open a PDF (from email and/or from file) my system defaults to Adobe Acrobat Reader XI.  How do I set it to (always) default to my Adobe Acrobat Professional X application?  I have tried to uninstall Reader but it will not uninstall.

Find a PDF on your system, right click, and select open with, then select Acrobat as the default program.

  • Cannot update Acrobat Professional 9.0.0

My situation: I have bought Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 8) for Max OSX and later on bought an update to version 9 (Acrobat Professional). However I am unable to update the software as I keep on receiving the message that the software is not in it's original configuration (plugins are missing). I should fix that problem which could be done by reinstalling the software. However, that advise did not work for me.
When I select the REPAIR-option (my version is in Dutch, I don't know if REPAIR is the menu-item in the English version, but it is an option found in the HELP-menu) in version 8, there is nothing to be repaired. In version 9 I can repair the Adobe PDFViewer Safari-plugin and the Adobe PDF Printer plugin. After repairing those plugins, I receive a pop-up confirming that everything is repaired. However: the update is still not being installed and when I ask to REPAIR again, it appears that the same plugins still need to be repaired.
So: it seems to be the case that I am unable to repair those 2 plugins in version 9.
Is one of you familiar with this problem? If so, (how) did you fix this problem?
    Best regards,
    M.

And... the problem is solved!!! Thank you VERY much
Fixing the permissions did the trick! At first I was doubtfull as the uninstaller from Adobe even refused to uninstall Adobe 9 (I then decided to just put the app-folder in the trash bin). But after deleting Adobe 9, fixing permissions and reinstalling the software, I was able to update to version 9.1.2.

  • Acrobat Professional 11 Installation

Looking for information on how to install Acrobat Professional 11 on a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal server which already has Acrobat Professional 8.1 and Acrobat Reader 9.1.2 installed ???

So you want to install multiple versions of Acrobat on Windows.  You want to deal in software installation VooDoo, and the installation "Dark Arts"!  Be warned doing something like this can backfire on you in terrible ways.

    Installation
    10.0 & later
    REMOVE_PREVIOUS
Specifies whether to removes an already installed product. The property can only uninstall a previous version of the product when that same product is being installed. For example, REMOVE_PREVIOUS=YES during an Acrobat install will only uninstall previous Acrobat versions. It will not affect any version of Reader that is present.  This property can be used during both Acrobat and Reader installs. The default is YES.

  • Downloading Acrobat Professional X for Windows

    Hi all,
My company bought me the Acrobat Professional X for Windows around 2 years ago. Now I have relocated to another country (and uninstalled the Acrobat Professional on old computer) and brought the licence key. When I wish to download the product so I can install on the new company, I noted that Acrobat already changed version to XI. What should I do in order to install the Acrobat Pro X on the new company? Thanks.

  • How to install acrobat professional 7 on windows 8

I just purchased a new computer that runs windows 8.  I have acrobat professional 7 installed on my old computer, unfortunately I downloaded it directly from Adobe and didn't get a CD, I only have my product registration receipt with a serial number.  How can I reinstall on my new computer?
    Thanks!

    reset your preferences:
Restore the Acrobat Preferences folder (Windows)
Restore the Acrobat Preferences folder to eliminate problems that damaged preferences cause. Most preference problems are caused by these file-based preferences, although most Acrobat preferences are stored within the registry.
Note:  This solution removes custom settings for Collaboration, JavaScripts, Security, Stamps, Color Management, Auto Fill, Web Capture, and Updater.
    Quit Acrobat.
In Windows Explorer, go to the Preferences folder:
    (Windows 7/Vista) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]
    (XP) C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\[version]
Move the Preferences folder to another location (for example, C:\Temp).
    Restart Acrobat.
If the problem recurs after you restore the Acrobat Preferences folder, then the problem isn’t related to the Preferences folder. To restore custom settings, drag the folder you moved in step 2 back to its original location. Then click Yes To All to replace the new Preferences folder.
Restore the Acrobat preferences files (Mac OS)
Restore the Acrobat preferences files to eliminate problems caused by a damaged preferences file.
Note:  Re-creating the Acrobat preferences files restores settings to their defaults.
    Quit Acrobat.
Drag the following files from the Users/[Username]/Library/Preferences folder to the Desktop:
    Acrobat WebCapture Cookies
    com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist or com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro_x86_9.0.plist
Acrobat Distiller Prefs and com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist (if you are troubleshooting an issue with Distiller)
The Acrobat folder, which contains preferences for forms (MRUFormsList), collaboration (OfflineDocs), and color settings (AcrobatColor Settings.csf)
    Restart Acrobat
If the problem recurs after you restore the Acrobat preferences files, then the problem isn’t related to preferences files. To restore custom settings, drag the files you moved in step 2 back to their original location. Then click OK to the alert “A newer item named ‘[filename]’ already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the older one you're moving?”
if that fails, uninstall, clean and then reinstall, Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 Questions

    Hi, there.
I'm new to this kind of programme. So, maybe I ask some strange questions.
    1. I bought my notebook with Adobe Reader 7.0 installed. A week ago I had to convert a PDF document into a JPEG one. So, I downloaded a free programme to do it. But the result had a watermark on it that brought me to uninstall that programme. Today I've installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0. Can I uninstall my Adobe Reader 7.0?
    2. I can't remember which printer the uninstalled free programme used. There are two printers now, i.e. Adobe PDF and PDF-File. Which one is used by Adobe Acrobat Professional 8.0 so that I can delete the other?
    3. My friend told me a month ago that there's an apart setup, i.e. a so-called PDF_Printer. He realized this when his mate explored the installation CD. Is this a case that I have to know?
    Thanks before for answering.
    Cheers.

    1. Yes but you "may" end up having to reinstall Acrobat. I believe they share some resources.
    2. Adobe PDF is installed with Acrobat
    3. Sounds like the PDF printer is already installed (see answer #2)
